Was up late studying one night so I ordered from here off ubereats. Was mislead right off the bat because the ubereats photo shows pizza and spaghetti, neither of which are on the menu. I ordered a calzone and the delivery was quick but the "breaded chicken" inside looked like cut up frozen tyson chicken nuggets. I couldn't eat it because I was so grossed out. We had a big day and were unable to stop to eat. We Yelped and D.P. Dough came to the rescue. They had a vast array of calzones to pick from. We stuck with the Italian and it was big enough to split between us. We also ordered the Roni Bites and they blew us away at how good they were. With the garlic drawn butter and some marinara they are a must. The crew was ready to help when we had a snag with the online order through Yelp. Had the food delivered, calzone went in the trash . Actually ate the boneless wings , & the salad (I was hungry) . Ranch was not home made.... From a bottle of hidden ranch dressing is my guess . Neither were the boneless wings seems to me . I could of bought from the freezer section at the grocery store and cooked in a hotel microwave would of tasted better . I appreciate how late they are opened however you're basically eating cardboard and dipping it into marinara sauce. We ordered the Maui Wowi Zone, Roni Rolls, and Cinnamon Stix and all three managed to taste like different flavored/seasoned cardboard. read more

The mozzarella cheese they use must be cheap because it melts weird and taste weird. Also my pepperoni, sausage, and green peppers where undercooked within my calzone. I tried to doctor it up when I got home but something about the sausage meat was off . It's not cheap either so I expected quality. Alas, college kids can have this one. read more

When I first walked in, I was greeted very nicely, the cashier was very nice, she really help explain the menu to me because it was my first time coming here. The food was pretty good, but it kind of seems like an off brand of Domino's Pizza, but still good. I just ordered one of there chocolate chip cookies, can't wait to try it when I get home. read more

Completely underrated. A couple of friends were trying to find somewhere to eat dinner and were having trouble deciding so we decided give this place a try. We actually thought it was a pizza place and were too hungry to leave when we figured out they only did calzones. But oh my goodness it was the best decision. Everything was fresh and delicious. Me and my friend split a BBQ chicken calzone with mac and cheese and jalapeños, and as crazy as that sounds it was so good. We regretted splitting and wished we had gotten our own. The three other people in our group also only had good things to say. We also got the chocolate chip cookies which were unexpectedly AMAZING. Like seriously the best. I know insomnia isn't far away but here you'll get awesome food and cookies so it's definitely a new favorite. This place is amazing. Best calzone place in Athens, by far. Four reasons: 1. The restaurant itself is clean, convenient, and fast. It is always a welcome sight after a night on the town. Not to mention they stay open until 4 am! 2. The service is impeccable. I order DP Dough for delivery for the most part, and all of the drivers have been on time, courteous, and clean. Management and staff (I forget the names of people easily) will treat you like a regular even on your first visit. 3. The Calzones are made to order, Fresh, and packed with awesome ingredients. Other 'calzone places in athens have started pre-making their calzones and throwing them in a microwave it seems. DP Dough has always given me a fresh, hot, calzone. Don't forget to check out their local flavors as well. My go-to calzone is the falling rock zone with steak added onto it for a reasonable extra charge. 4. They have delicious wings (bone-in and boneless), huge cookies (gotta try these bad boys), and other stuff as well. Four stars for the Bulldawg Zone. It was perfectly cooked. A great size and a great price. However for the Speed Zone and the Roni Rolls I would give three stars. The roni rolls were over cooked and mostly dough while the speed zone would have been very good without the chicken it was overpowered with a frozen chicken flavor. I have ordered delivery two or three times since I've been in Athens, and each time has been great! They get the food to your door in fast so your food is still hot and fresh. I've order two different types of calzones, the Buffer-zone and the Chicken Parm. Both were awesome, but if were to order from there again I believe I would go with the Buffer-zone with ranch as my dipping sauce. They have a calzone for whatever flavor you are craving and from what I've had so far I'm willing the bet they won't disappoint. I will be ordering D.P. Just "meh". Nothing to brag home about. Cheap eat. Dough was rather tasteless. The marinara side left a lot to be desired. Service was adequate. Good food (from what I DID receive), but their staff have the customer service skills of a potato. I placed an order through Uber Eats for 1 calzone and 1/2 lb of wings; they only gave the driver the calzone to deliver. Instead of calling Uber Eats to have the order refunded, I reached out the store to see if they could simply send a driver to deliver the wings. That way they get their money, and I get my wings. Win-win, right? Wrong. Both the staff member who answered the phone and the manager who completed the call were utterly dumbfounded by the request. The manager of the restaurant explained the only way for them to make up for the error required me to go through Uber Eats. I explained to her Uber Eats would only issue a refund, not request a new delivery. Instead, she just hung up on me. So now I have no wings AND no patience. If I were the owner of this place, I'd be very disappointed that my employees didn't put a good faith effort toward fixing their mistake. Suffice to say, I DOUGH not recommend this place. read more

Extremely bad experience! We are from out of town so the constant mask wearing is foreign to us. We walked in to instantly be told (in not a nice manner) that we were required to wear masks. So we proceed to put on our masks, all while being stared at with very judging eyes. Then our party of 7 was offered one menu and met with attitude when we asked for more. We took our seats and took our masks down to discuss the menu options and were again yelled at, that masks must be worn the entire time we are in the building. If you aren't offering dine in as an option, state that. No where said we couldn't dine in, so am I suppose to eat with my mask on?? I'm fine with wearing a mask, don't get me wrong, but man, niceness goes a longgggg way. Overall very rude reactions to first timers. Can't say we will ever go back. read more

Came to town and was excited to try DP Dough since I had had it once in Connecticut 17 years ago. Prices looked great and menu items sounded good. We went with the Speedy but wanted grilled chicken instead of breaded. Also thought it would be good to "hook it up". Was surprised when I went to pick it up that the total was over $10 and as my card was scanned, I noticed the receipt said "no chicken" and then "add grilled chicken" for $2. Seems weird to charge two bucks to sub an ingredient, or at least not to be told about it when ordering, but I figured whatever. Wasn't til I got back and opened it that it had also not been "hooked up" even though that was on the receipt for a 50 cent charge. As a result it was pretty bland tasting though the filling was good. Hopefully this was just one bad experience but since it was a poor first (basically first) impression, we'll probably go back to our usual standard of Little Italy for late night food when we're in town. He was more than helpful, going out of his way to make sure that my second experience was nothing less than awesome. Everything was fresh and delicious, and it means a lot that David cares about the customer as much as he does! I am completely satisfied and I will definitely be returning! I'm a bit disappointed in my experience ordering from D.P. Dough. After a particularly long and challenging day, I was in desperate need for comfort food. I was set on finally trying this place as I've done some research in the past and liked most of what I saw. While the delivery was relatively quick and the vegetables seemed fresh enough, there were a couple of huge letdowns. - I paid extra for a garlic parmesan crust and got nothing. - Even beyond the crust, there was just no seasoning on anything period. The entire calzone was bland for some reason. - The filling seemed to only be in the very center, with a significant amount of the corners of the calzone just consisting of tough dough and a leaf of spinach. - The cookie I had read so much about and was sure would be awesome to make up for a lackluster dinner was burnt (to the point of literally smelling burnt) and weirdly chewy but hard. :~( read more

Personally, I enjoyed the experience of purchasing a calzone from here. However, there were many things I wish could have been better. I liked the taste of the dough: it was crunchy, hot and fluffy. The ingredients inside like the tomatoes didn't have much flavor and I didn't enjoy the chicken that was added to my calzone. Look, fam. Me and my girl got finished doing a show at 10:15. We hop in the car, I ask the usual question: "what u tryna eat?". She can't decide, we go back and forth, then finally she says that she tryna get down with a calzone. She orders a calzone, but I'm bout to go home and eat a salad cuz I'm tryna get this body right, ya feel? Anyway we walk up in there and we like YO we ordered a calzone to go and the cashier goes AYE it's coming right up. Now I'm smelling all these calzones and I'm mad that I didn't order one too. But whatever. We wait. Then like 45 seconds later some lady walks over to us with a bag with TWO boxes inside. I'm good with shapes, so I know that you only need one box per calzone so I'm wondering y tf they bringing me two boxes. So I'm like aye ma'am we only ordered one calzone and she goes "yeah I know but we made this other one by accident so I figured I'd just give it to you for free". Y'all. I'm tearin up writing this. She gave me a free calzone. She didn't even know me, yet she looked into my eyes and saw the truth of my life and that what I needed in that moment was a calzone. DP dough had my back when I didn't even have my own back. Best part was that it had all the toppings that I wanted.
