I called DK clock, as my grandfather clock stopped working. I was lucky to get a same day appt, due to a cancelation. When the repairman arrived, he was polite, was gentle taking apart my clock, and putting it back together, seemed knowledgeable in his work. However after he was done, he never said, due to the clock stopped, you could experience some slowing, show he how I could adjust it, when I called back saying the clock is running slow, all he could tell me was, your clock was not running when I arrived, would not listen to me, communication goes a long way, but my communication will be to say to you reading this and word if mouth for someone looking for a company to look at or fix grandfather clocks, DK will be advised not to call, as I feel they don't listen or want to help clients. I've taken two clocks here. One was my grandmothers antique kitchen click that had not worked in years. He fixed it and I wound and used it for years. The othe also a unique antique had an electric motor that made noise. It had been making that noise for 40 years but I was giving it to my daughter and thought I'd fix it. We acquired a beautiful old mantel clock from the 1920's that was not in working order and was also missing the key for winding. DK's was able to repair the clock, make a new key and show me how to operate it as well as how to turn the chime on and off as needed. The gentleman who owns and repairs clocks charge us less than $150 to get this clock working. When we went to pick-up the clock he was very thorough in showing us how to wind the clock, change the time, how make it go faster, slower, and how to travel with it. My red flag should have gone up when I first dropped my mothers clock off. Mac came across as a total #$%$! I have taken clocks to his shop in the past and he did the job. This time he was just a total jerk from the beginning. He started by saying I can pull some junk parts...etc I figured he was having a bad day. Months went by and I heard NOTHING. I called and go a line of BS. I have had the clock back for a couple of weeks, it still loses time. He didn t even try to find new hands or even a new bezel. I purchased a howard miller wall click at an estate sale. They still make the clock and best price I saw online was $225 I paid $40, knowing it needed repair or replacement of battery motor Unfortunately, based on yelp reviews I took it to DK. The owner pointed out there were actually 2 battery areas and suggested he put on 1 larger battery motor, saying it would work better. I asked if it would be better to use howard miller parts and he said no I later thought about it and called and asked if they could ck to see if just replacing both batteries would work and was told no Just picked up the clock and was surprised they had replaced the pendulum with a bright "gold" one. I asked them to put the original one on and it did not show because of the new battery motor placement. They did adjust it but looks okay not good. Paid $80 Should have called howard miller and ordered replacements myself. Now I have a garage sale clock. Will Never be back read more
