I've been coming to Vegas for work for years and wanted something OFF STRIP that locals love. My online research revealed DE Thai Kitchen as a local's favorite. DE Thai has everything you'd expect. I have photos of the menu, and I love that they have a "secret menu" which I think are their most popular items so you can cut to the chase. FOOD *Understand that anything MEDIUM spicy or above will make you sweat. They don't play around. Yum Woon Sen ($18) The vegetables are FRESH and crispy, sauce was tangy, and the ground pork was delicious. 5 stars for freshness, taste, and presentation. Isan Sausage ($13) SO GOOD. Bangkok-style pork sausages that have a lovely sour/fermented, tangy and garlic flavor. This left me wanting more. Dessert: Coconut Ice Cream served with Roti ($12) SUCH a cool idea to have roti drizzled with a kind of coconut sauce, served with ice cream. Before I knew it, my roti was all gone. The ice cream is FULL of coconut chunks... it's mostly coconut chunks so I'd only order it if you don't mind that texture. If I ordered it again, I'd prefer it with ice cream without chunks, but not sure if they have it. SERVICE It was one kind server in the restaurant and she served everyone with ease. She was so welcoming and helpful! AMBIANCE It's a small but accommodating interior. I actually loved it and have to say their restroom is very well-maintained and furnished. One other lovely feature was the TV streamed Thai content. Playing on the screen when I was there was a relaxing video of someone walking down the busy streets of a city in Thailand. Low stimuli and kind of like a visual ASMR while you eat. I can't wait to go back and try more food. It's 10000% worth the 4+ mile trip away from the strip. read more

Stopped on by to get takeout. I ordered the drunken noodles or pad kee mao along with a tom yum soup. Both were tasty. No complaints. I came in 45 minutes before closing, and the server was super nice and I ordered the chicken drunken noodles. I ate the entire dish! It was so delicious and flavorful. I've been here 5 times in the last month, I'm happy I have found my favorite Thai restaurant downtown! I've ordered a few different entrees were as good as the last. The spice level is 1-10 but 3-4 can be a bit spicy for me but I could also be a wimp. Today, I tried the egg rolls, Thai iced tea, and the garlic and ginger stir fry. Food was tasty, I had the chicken curry soup with flat noodles. The curry has a nice kick to it, the spice level comes in a level from 1-10 and I only ordered it at a 1 spice level! It could use a little more salt but all in all, it was quite good and of course you can't go wrong with shrimp spring rolls. The restaurant itself is quite small, we came on Christmas night and it was quite busy but there were still a few open tables and we were seated within 5 minutes. Service was really friendly. It was one person taking all the orders, seating everyone, handing out take out ordered etc. but she did a great job. A few locals came thru, it was evident by her greeting of recognition and familiarity. All in all a great spot. P.S. there is no mango sticky rice around Christmas time since mangoes aren't in season. read more

Oh my gosh; absolutely amazing! We got an order of the fresh spring rolls with shrimp, which were really good. My husband got the Thai spicy basil stir-fry which was out of this world! I had the Green beans in spicy red chile sauce w/ combo (shrimp, chicken, beef and pork). Shrimp were so succulent, and loved the green beans. Sauce was a little heavy/oily though. Both of us ordered spicy Levin 6, which had a kick, but was just perfect. Next time, might just do the Thai spicy basil w/ shrimp. read more

My fiance and I were in the downtown area and decided to walk to DE Thai to grab some lunch. While we prefer dining in, I was on a time crunch for work so we placed our order to-go. It was a less than a mile walk from the Fremont area and we felt safe. If you do drive there, it's street and paid lot parking from what I could see. The restaurant is tiny, but they had a few patio tables as well. We were greeted by the super friendly waitress and given a few minutes to review the menu. Once we placed our order she advised it would be ready in 10-15 minutes and was very kind to offer us ice water while we waited. We both love spice, so we asked if we could get some sides of the spicy extras (sauces, peppers, etc) to take home, which she kindly included in our order. Our order was up within the time mentioned and our food held up great for the ~30 minutes until we got home. I ordered the pad Prik king with shrimp (spice level 9) and my fiance had the garlic pepper with chicken (spice level 8). Both dishes were packed with flavor and were accompanied by addicting sauces. Pad Prik King is my favorite Thai dish, so I was happy that their version had a good amount of kefir lime flavor (many places lack this). For the price we agreed the portions were adequate. There are a lot Thai spots in Vegas that we've tried, but this one definitely stood out for the amazing customer service and taste. Definitely one to add to your list! read more

This may be a bold statement as there are an abundance of amazing places here, but this includes everything from food quality, taste, price point, ambiance, and service. Please, I'm open to other suggestions if you can prove me wrong but geez I was in for a treat here!! This is a small mom and pop shop spot that seats no more than 12 at a time. We popped in on Friday night around 6pm and the place was about half filled. We were greeted by the super sweet lady whom I believe is the owner. She was so welcoming and attentive! The place was well lit with bright inviting decor around the walls. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, crispy duck pad thai, crab fried rice, and finished off with fried banana w coconut ice cream. These dishes sure took me on a flavor journey; just as if I was eating at a night market in Thailand. Be sure to ask for the thai chilis! Back again! Most dishes were decent. Spicy is now Western levels. If you order mild, it'll be mainly mild now. They do have western dishes like with cream cheese but not many are like that. Will order again: $16 Tom Yum NOODLE soup (vs soup version), pork; $14 Panang Curry, chicken; $16 Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). $3 Rice, $4 Water (no free water). Yup mild 4 out of 10 is probably the spiciest I can handle to enjoy a meal. I may go to spicy level 3 next time instead. The boat noodle soup was spicier than the other level 4 spicy dishes. 1st Vists: - $16 Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with crispy pork. Other proteins are lower in price, except seafood at $18. The noodles surprisingly was really good, egg pan fried. But the sliced mushrooms was a weird surprise haha Don't want to trust catfish again because it was tasty but fishy last time. Nothing wrong with papaya salad. Take out: $17 Beef Boat Noodle Soup: Decent but felt it could be better. $17 Kao Soi Chicken: Decent. $11 Coconut Shrimp: Decent. I wasn't expecting too much from this as a fun sharable snack. $12 Papaya Salad again because our party was craving to try theirs. 3rd visit: $16 Tom Yum NOODLE soup (vs soup version), pork. Its sweeter than normal but still sour. We loved this and never had it as a noodle dish. Comes with 2 wonton chips. $14 Panang Curry, chicken. Super flavorful! Comes with rice. We were in Vegas for my nieces birthday and needed to find some good food away from the strip. We stumbled across D E Thai Kitchen and decided to give it a shot. We pulled up to a small restaurant and immediately knew this place was the real deal. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. We ordered some spring rolls, green curry, and a couple orders drunken noodles. They were able to accommodate both the meat eaters and the vegans in our group with plenty of options for everyone. The green curry was amazing and I could probably eat it everyday! The drunken noodles were delicious too. The spring rolls were good and the peanut sauce was delicious. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable. I'm looking forward to our next Vegas trip so I can get a bowl of that green curry with tofu!! read more

This place is perhaps one of the best Thai restaurants not just in downtown Vegas but all of Vegas with unique special offerings not found elsewhere. I started off with a Thai tea lemonade, which was a super refreshing compliment to my meal. The chicken wings had a sticky spicy and crispy inside with a super moist inside and are great for a sharing starter. Our waitress recommended the kao soi special and I've never had something with so much depth of flavor and complexity such as this before. I'd go back for sure and have it again but be mindful of the spice level to fully enjoy it. The mango sticky rice was gluttonous but the mango was so buttery in texture that I couldn't stop eating it. Came here before work. I'm not from Vegas but was in for a week working. It was close to where I was staying and working and had good reviews so wanted to check it out. It's small, which didn't matter for us since there were only two other groups there. So didn't have to worry about seating. Service was alright. Which is fine. Food came out quick, which was good because of the time crunch and we were hungry. We got garlic chicken which wasn't expecting it on greens but that's totally fine, need more greens. The noodles we got were good and decent spice. The food in itself was satisfying , even though portions were big compared to other Thai places but that's fine as well. I'll lean more to 3.5. I'm giving it a 4 because it was a good experience and the food was good. Just it doesn't stand out from some of my favorite Thai places and since there are so many everywhere is why I lean more towards 3.5. I would try it again if I'm in the area. read more

De Thai hit the spot but didn't blow me away. I had the larb, tom yum, and crab fried rice. Everything was solid ,good flavor, decent portions but nothing really stood out as amazing. The tom yum had a nice kick, the larb was fresh, and the crab fried rice was satisfying, just not super rich in flavor also the the rice was over cooked. Not worth a visit if you're nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Service was excellent and the place looked cool. The food here is great, but they lie to you just to make a sale! They will not give you a cup of water for free when you are dining-in, and only offer you a bottle of water for $2+. I previously went to the DE Thai Kitchen #2 on Windmill and they had told me something was wrong with their tap water and it smells like strong chlorine so they could only offer me a bottled water. I came to the Downtown location and same thing! Something was wrong with the tap water and I could only buy a bottle of water. Something doesn't add up when that's an issue at two different locations clear across town. I'd rather not be lied to, and if something is actually wrong with the tap water, I sure hope they are cooking and making other drinks using bottled water too. Despite this annoying thing, the boat noodles served here is one of the best in town. The broth is rich and they put quite a bit of meat in it. I'll prob only come back here just for this dish, and order to-go. The panang curry was quite good as well, but the pad Thai was just average and was a bit mushy and sour. The Thai iced tea was not good, pretty watery, but maybe it was because of the chlorine? The downtown location has a small parking lot behind the restaurant, but it could fill up easily and you might need to look into other downtown options. This place is packed with huge flavor although the restaurant seems small... it is located in the Art District area so you'll be happy to go for a stroll after to enjoy the Downtown Las Vegas scenery. You don't have to do a reservation but might have to wait a bit being that the place is really good but a small area. When the friends and I got there, there was a party of 8 arranged and then there was only like three tables left that all together held about another 10 people. Our server was awesome, super kind girl wish I remember her name. Mixed veggies with chicken was my choice and it was really good, the portion is not big but it is just right. The staff greets me with a smile and remembers that I order ice tea every time I go which is about once per week. The variety on the menu is fantastic. Very diversified. We dined in and ordered the crab rangoons as an appetizer, they were very yummy and came out quickly. I also had a thai iced tea which tasted perfect, it wasn't too sweet and had a great balanced taste. As an entree we ordered the spicy basil with ground chicken ( you have a choice of sliced or ground ), we were very happy with the food and will be returning! ( the level 10 is VERY spicy ) - I feel as if so many places will offer different spice level but they aren't actually too spicy but this place didn't disappoint it was just what I was looking for. We went to downtown for vintage shopping only to find that where we wanted to eat lunch wasn't able to take anymore walk-ins...so we found this place on Google Maps and walked there. There are a few parking spots available on the lot, if you are driving. And there is an RTC Bike drop off not far from it as well. The place is decorated nicely and the restrooms were clean. Our server was very nice and helped recommend what to try. The dishes were a little smaller than what we normally get at Thai restaurants however, do you really want to be carrying Thai leftovers around with you all day when you explore downtown?
