Based on the other reviews, recommending a hot sandwich or panini instead of the cold sandwich described as dry and boring for the price--I think I coulda offered more stars had I gone that route. The staff was super nice and efficient but the sandwich was meh At the time I arrived they were already putting the chairs away because they were closing in a few, so I made a rushed decision: The Aspen Buddha (Turkey Swiss Curry Aioli Sunflower Seeds Lettuce Tomatoes Sprouts Banana Peppers Cucumbers). In my mind I was making a "healthy choice" but in reality I felt like I was about to eat a loaf of bread. I thought it seemed silly to pay only $2 less for a half a sandwich so I ordered the whole but then shamefully threw away most of the bread and ate only the innards which were also pretty boring. Even though I'm trying to keep my carb intake in check--I'm fully capable of for example enjoying a whole loaf of challah in one sitting if inspired but this wheat loaf did not inspire those kind of urges. As for the rest of the sandwich, it could have really used more curry aioli or something because I don't think I tasted that at all. If was ever forced to eat this same sandwich again I might ask for a side of vinaigrette, giardiniera, avocado. Something. The people were right: this was a dry sandwich. The reason I was even in Golden is because I wanted to test the feasibility of taking the W line to the Golden government center that is 2 miles from downtown and then riding my bike to have a picnic by Clear Creek. Turns out that yes, this is great with the understanding that the bike ride back to the light rail is way more intense when heading back to Denver. All uphill on my single speed! Without the Aspen Buddha, since it was 95 degrees or so I might have died had I not eaten/rehydrated. I am thankful for that. Also thankful for the life lesson about bringing my own picnic so I only have myself to complain to next time. read more

The restaurant is very small for sitting inside, but patrons were grabbing their sandwiches and sitting outside on the street tables. The gentleman making our sandwiches answered all of our questions and was so nice! And he was from Texas too. Very nice to talk to. The vibes were a 10/10 for him and the shop. The Banano was phenomenal, it was my absolute favorite sandwich. I subbed the regular cream cheese for goat cheese cream cheese, and it was absolutely divine. The Aspen Buddha was okay; it was very earthy tasting which I should've known and assumed, and the curry aioli threw me off. But it was still good and I still ate it, it just wasn't my favorite. My wife got the Club and I got the Reuben and both were excellent. The gentleman behind the counter helped customize my sandwich to my liking. The restaurant inside was tightly packed but there was plenty of spots outside in the sidewalk to enjoy your sandwich. My only issue with this place was the price. Maybe it's me but I have hard time living in a world where two sandwiches and a bottle of water is 50 bucks. Was it high quality, you bet. But it's still a sandwich. Came here as a family of 6. I asked the worker what she recommended and she said the Knuckle Sandwich. So I went with it. It was delicious. My husband ordered the Heater. Boy was that bad. All I tasted was white bread...not enough flavor. My sister in law ordered the French Dip and that was good. I think you have to go with the hot sandwiches here. The bread was also not too fresh and was a bit dry. We had a white and wheat roll, so I can't say that it was just a one off of one style or the other. D'Deli is a staple in Golden. I remember going there many times during college and had to visit recently to relive my college days and have a delicious sandwich. We got a TMI, Dalton, and a Camper. The TMI and Dalton were exactly as I remember: delicious and fresh-tasting. The Camper was honestly a little disappointing. It felt like I was eating mostly bread with a bit of Nutella and the other ingredients. Service is great with good conversation with the employees. I will say that I think the sandwiches are a bit expensive for what you get especially if you only get a half sandwich. The sandwiches are delicious either way though. I highly recommend getting a sandwich from here and then walking over to beautiful Clear Creek and enjoying your sandwich while watching/listening to the creek. Life is great sometimes! read more

I like the turkey, the shredded lettuce was fresh and crisp, and while the bread was good and fresh it was a bit dense and dried out the overall taste of the sandwich. Husband describes his sandwich as very good flavor, quality chicken, very saucey, but the bread being the downfall in overall taste - same feedback in terms of sort of dense and dry. There are very few sandwich shops in the country with offerings as creative as what they serve up here. I'm sure you can get yourself a turkey sandwich with cheddar and mayo, but if that's what you are looking for, I would recommend a nice, safe chain type place where you can drift off to sleep while eating something mediocre you've had a thousand times. This is where the action lives. This is the Fast & Furious of sandwich shops. I am fairly certain Vin Diesel made my sandwich. These sandwiches are crazy and delicious. I am baffled when I see a negative review. Just look at the line people, not to mention what most reviews say. You're going to love it. My favorite is the Gold Hill. It's literally unlike any sandwich I've ever had. The roast beef is delicious, the jicama gives it fresh crunch, the beets give it a subtle earthiness and the blue cheese aioli is tangy and delicious. There's other glorious ingredients too, but I'm already getting too hungry thinking about this. The line does move quickly, and yes, the sandwiches will run you about $15 to $18. First off, the bread is a huge letdown--it has a Wonder Bread-like consistency, soft and uninspiring, like they picked up each loaf at a grocery store. For a place charging nearly $20 per sandwich, I expected something far better. Even Subway's bread feels like a delicacy in comparison. LOOOOOOONG line told us immediately that this place would be good. Once we got inside, we read the board and decided on our sandwiches. With the crazy long line, and tiny inside, there was no room to really sit at one of the small tables to eat. Thankfully, there were tables outside, and despite the heat, the trees provided nice shade. The staff were super helpful and quickly prepared sandwiches. I had the Bellanini...super flavorful and loaded with a certain combo of veggies that perfectly blended to make an amazing, yet healthy meal. This place is a staple in downtown Golden. We went on a Sunday at around noon for lunch and it wasn't too busy which was good. I got the golden club with some modifications, and my husband got one of their panini sandwiches (though I don't remember which one). The golden club was loaded with protein and it was so good. The bread was soft and the toppings were the right amount. There was a bit of a wait for the panini, but it was worth it. There are a few tables inside, but you can also eat outside or take it to go. We parked in a paid lot a few streets up and walked since parking in downtown Golden is always a bit sparse. What I was most amazed at was the selection of sandwiches. They even have Elk and Bison!! And their whole sandwiches are only $2 more than their half - a great place to just upgrade your size and also get a dinner out of it. The employees were very nice and asked us about our day and plans. I love this place whenever I am downtown Golden and need a good lunch! read more

Can't call it in, possibly text, but not very responsive....(he's pretty busy) so we walked in, ordered and were on our way in less than 10 minutes.. the joint is your typical walk up sandwich deli but I'll tell you the options were extensive everyone looking more delicious than the next and everything we ordered was more than spectacular. it has a small chalkboard menu a list of 8 to 10 items and he will accommodate personal preferences but what he offers is what you should get. Stopped in for lunch on Sunday. I always love a good sandwich. Small space right on the main stretch. Busy but fast service! I had an Italian and my partner had a golden club. We also shared Macaroni salad. I really wanted to love this place. Meat & Veggies were super fresh but the review photos are misleading. Our sandwiches were about 75% bread. So much (undercooked) bread that it was hard to eat. Once I removed the massive excess of bread it was fairly tasty. There also is not much flavor as far as seasoning or sauce. Next time I'll opt for something toasted or hot and see how it goes. I did enjoy my macaroni. A half sandwich is $12 and a full is $14. For nearly $50 worth of food, I just expected more out of this place. Will try something else and report back! read more

Went for lunch after a day of paddleboarding. Was recommended this place by a friend who used to live here. It's right in the Main Street of golden so very conveniently located. They have a massive menu so pretty much any sandwich you could possibly want, they most likely will have. I ended trying a sandwich with elk on it (again was recommended lol) and it ended up being sooooo good. It kind of tasted like thanksgiving on a sandwich but with elk instead of turkey. The line to the door and beyond is real. We went around 1:30 on Saturday but the lunch crowd was still in full swing. Make sure you close the door, otherwise you'll get hollered at to "PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR!" from the counter staff. That didn't happen to us, but it happened frequently while we waited to order. The menu is huge and overwhelming. The QR code pulls up different options than the choices that are offered in shop. The staff is pleasant, but so busy. We had a couple customizations on our orders. I swapped out the bbq pork in favor of turkey. My mom swapped out the pork stuffs for buffalo. Once you place your order, it's not a great idea to ask any questions. Even if you are reasonably sure they are preparing the wrong sandwich - don't say a word or you'll feel the wrath. I was right as neither one of us got what we ordered. My idea of a half means that two halves equal a whole. This place calculates waaaay differently. A half is some length and a whole is 2 inches longer than a half. Since we swapped out meats there was an epic up charge. I paid $50 plus tip for 2 Sammie's, 2 bags of chips and 2 bottles of water. The cashier gave us some gummy (not yummy) brownies on the house. I had hope to make a whole sandwich 2 meals. The bread sogs out quickly, in about 5 minutes, so no 2nd meal for me. No bad vibes, I gave this 5 stars because I like to support local.
