Well prepared simple food items. Great tasting appetizers, sandwiches, and entrées. Cozy dining room which provides a tasty flan to cap off a delicious lunch. Look forward to having more items.

You all with the 3 stars are tripping. Iv'e eaten at calle 8 in Miami and this as close as it gets. Service does need some work but I go restaurant for the food. I truly think this is the best Cuban food in town. I go to this restaurant at least 1 to 2 times a month and love it.

The Cuban food here is amazing! I love that they are a small restaurant. They really know their customers. I come here every two weeks with my colleagues who are also teachers. The lady who is the hostess and waitress (I have to get her name). is ver cordial and sweet. They will usually have our food ready for lunch time if we call in the orders ahead of time. We come early for the "daily lunch special". I have never had a a bad dish here. The food is home made and incredibly flavorful. I'm a huge fan for many years to come.

Omg where was this hidden gem all these years?? We came recommended by a Cuban friend. The food is amazing, on point, well seasoned and delicious! Get the appetizer for 2 it's so good and the ropa Vieja was rich, the fish had this amazing red sauce you can eat it by itself, it came With rice and beans and maduros. Did I say large portions? You are welcomed by a nice waitress who brings warm pan con mantequilla. We will definitely come back to try other dishes. Keep up the good job D Cuba!

We had children with us and asked for their menu items to come as fast as they could. However, the server was extremely short with us and didn't even bring drinks quickly. While the restaurant was not very busy, it too a very long time to get our food - especially one in our group who didn't get food until almost everyone else was done. The food itself was ok, but I would say that nothing was exceptional - somewhat bland entrees and lacking originality. Could be what we ordered...as I know many people find the food here to be quite good. The prices are reasonable for the area but I was disappointed with the general unfriendly service and time to receive food. I've been here previously and we had a somewhat lackluster meal that time also. The previous time, they were pleasant enough but food was only ok - entrees were not very hot when we received them. All in all, there are friendlier spots in the area.

It was a little pricey but that's pretty typical of Chicago and the burbs. I wish you felt like you got a little more substantial of a sandwich though. The inside was really pretty and we liked how it looked like a traditional deli. I also liked how you could easily order bagels and to go sandwiches on the other side of the restaurant. At the end of the meal my brother bought bagels for home - they are a thinner quality but still really fresh and good.

I came in about 30 minutes before they closed so I had the restaurant almost to myself. I had their patty melt which is something I don't normally order. The patty melt was not overly greasy and passable. Their meat patty was surprisingly thinner than expected. Their fries were flavorless and needed seasoning or some special sauce alternative to ketchup. I thought prices were a bit on the high side for what was served. Overall, I am guessing that their breakfast and deli counter may be more popular than their lunches. My experience at Onion Roll, though, was nothing extraordinary or special but considered a local convenience.

They have window display with various cuts of meat, deli meats and whole fish. They also had racks which seasonings and sauces. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We elected to go for a couple sandwiches; Glenda had a ham sandwich with lettuce and tomato with mayo and mustard. The sandwich was a good size sandwich and the ham was sliced thin but I found it to be a little salty. She also asked for no onions and there was a good amount of onions on the sandwich. I opted for the bacon burger with cheese. The misleading part was that it wasn't a burger with bacon, the bacon was in the patty; the cheese wasn't melted and I ordered medium rare and received medium. To top it all off, you couldn't taste the bacon and it was poorly under seasoned. Both sandwiches came with bag fries not fresh-cut; which had a Cajun type seasoning salt. They were good but extremely salty. I give this restaurant 2 1/2 stars mostly for the fresh meats. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now. The waitress knew we were going to split the meals in half so she brought the meals out separately and in two separate plates. Doing so gave us time to savor each meal on its own and not have to try and divvy it up ourselves. I loved it. The food was phenomenal! We also had the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer and that did not last long on the plate. Upon leaving we were trying to buy a couple bottles of wine. We tried getting the attention of the staff, yet were told they were busy. We waiting a good 10mins and still didn't get any help. I'm not sure why they were so short staffed for a busy afternoon, they could literally have 1 or 2 people at a register just for takeout wine orders. Or, suggestion, before we leave our table, we put the order in and they have it ready at the register for us to pay on our way out. Either way we walked out of there without wine. This place is big enough to accommodate alot of people and there is a parking garage just behind it, which makes it very convenient.

We had nearly planned to dine at Cooper's Hawk (CH), but instead chose this establishment after passing by it, as it appeared to be quite peaceful and inviting. My friend, her children, and I--forming a party of four--were all eager to try the fried cheese curds. They did not disappoint and provided sufficient portions for all of us. We placed our orders: the 12-year-old selected the house salad with chicken, which was generously-sized; the 10-year-old ordered chicken tenders with a side of fries, which was plenty for him. My friend opted for the bourbon-brined chicken sandwich with a side of fries and reported that it was delicious. I ordered the Oak Park burger, which was absolutely divine--juicy, flavorful, and satisfying enough to fill me without needing to consume all the fries. I am pleased we chose this restaurant over the overpriced and somewhat overrated Cooper's Hawk. I also enjoyed a couple of Old Cubans as part of the experience. The atmosphere was exceptionally relaxed; the background music and the TVs playing football allowed us to converse comfortably, creating a warm and cozy environment. If I did not live in what I consider the somewhat dull state of Texas, I would certainly return. I am hopeful to visit again soon, as I am already dreaming of that enjoyable experience. My gratitude goes to the chef, the young male server with glasses and curly hair (apologies for forgetting your name), and the female bartender that evening, for providing a warm, cozy, and memorable night along with a delicious dinner.
