We did pulled pork, Cajun chicken, macaroni salad, and coleslaw. I really enjoyed the pulled pork. We got three different sauces to try with it as well. The Cajun chicken tasted good, but I was expecting a little bit more spiciness to it. We will definitely look to use the Cooked Goose again for our next needed event.

I was highly disappointed with my experience trying to arrange catering with this company. I am not…read morethe only one from the other reviews. Should have read them before I called. It would have saved me the headache. I was actually recommended to them by several people who have eaten their food, so I reached out hoping to have them cater a 30th birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the experience I had when I called completely changed my opinion. I had questions about pricing, how the catering process works, and what options were available. Instead of taking a few minutes to actually discuss it with me, the person I spoke with repeatedly told me to "look on our website." Yes, obviously I can look at the website. That's not why I called. I called because I wanted to speak with someone, ask questions, understand how the catering works, and make arrangements for an event. I shouldn't have to chase down basic information or feel like I'm inconveniencing someone simply because I'm trying to give the company my business. The interaction was extremely unhelpful and honestly left me wondering how difficult it would be to actually coordinate an entire catered event if getting basic questions answered was already this frustrating. You lost a customer today. And that's especially disappointing because I was referred to you by people who genuinely enjoy your food. Hospitality is about more than the food. It's about how you treat people, especially when they're calling because they want to spend their money with you. If answering customers' questions and helping them through the process is too much, then perhaps catering--and hospitality in general--isn't the right business to be in. I was excited to give this company my business. After this experience, I will be taking it elsewhere.

More than expected!…read more I searched all over the Pittsburgh area for a caterer that would meet my needs for a Baby-Que! I wanted BBQ and the ability to taste the food before the event. I went one evening to taste test the food. They allowed me to bring someone with me and choose the items I wanted to taste. We tried the stuffed cabbage, pulled pork, chicken marsala, potatoes, and baked beans. We liked everything but the chicken. We mentioned it to the lady and she actually let us try the beef pot roast, which was delicious. This was served with their homemade horseradish. They supplied all the paper products and plastic utensils. They communicated with me before the event and answered all my questions by email. They were very responsive. During the event, they set up, cleaned up, displayed and arranged my cookies, cut and served the cake, and cleaned up the guests dirty dishes. They wrapped up all the leftover food as well. This was well beyond my expectations of any caterer. The 3 women who came to the event were very courteous as well. They were very pleasant to my guests. The only thing I wish they would have done was set up the buffet line the opposite way. I think traffic would have flowed a little better in the room we were in. I would recommend them for any event. Thanks for making my day even more special!

My husband got the smashburger and I got the Yinzer salad. The burger was probably one of the best ever, seriously. My salad was delicious & I loved their ranch dressing. However, after yesterday's experience, it is doubtful that I will be returning, nor will the friend who joined me. When ordering the "Hotlicks" sandwich, I politely asked if it could be grilled, as the last two times I received it as a cold sandwich, which was still good. The young man taking my order looked perplexed, so I explained it would be like a grilled cheese sandwich with the addition of the veggies. Later, while sitting at our table, the owner-Brian Perkarcik, approached to ask about the order. When I mentioned that my lunch was very good and previous orders were served as a cold sandwich, he argued with me, raising his voice, and stating that these are always grilled. I explained that the past two times they were not. I actually thought he might be joking and giving me a hard time. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and inquired if he was having a bad day. He responded in a raised voice while walking away from my table "What I don't need is someone telling me how to make a grilled cheese sandwich!" I was absolutely dumbfounded by the interaction and how ridiculous the situation was. Confronting and raising your voice at a regular customer over a simple request is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. Please note that the restaurant was very busy so I would think that this was uncomfortable for other nearby patrons. I hope they take this feedback constructively to improve how to communicate kindly with their customers in the future. I have always found the staff to be lovely, but this experience with the owner was not. It was a very unpleasant experience and quite unnecessary. The saying "It's not what you say. It's how you say it" holds true in this situation.

Run, don't walk, to this wonderful little hole in the wall lovingly run by a seriously impressive…read morehubby (chef)-wife (killer dessert maker!!) duo. Who cares that it's in the middle of a pretty much deserted area and in an unappealing-looking building (formerly a beer barn/restaurant)?!? You'll forget all of that once inside. Because there are just 2 people preparing all the farm-to-table meals (seriously!), the number of reservations for any given night is pretty limited. Reservations are a must! On our night recently - they would have just 30 diners total - spaced out over several hours. We got there a bit early, so we waited briefly at the bar and chatted up the super friendly, knowledgeable bartender. She's been with the couple since they opened 3 years ago. The main server for the night - beware -- is *intense*, friendly - but intense. She impressively ran through the chalkboard menu in intense detail --- the food, where exactly it's from (they are serious about farm-to-table!), tidbits about the suppliers, how the dishes are prepared -- and then informed us that we would all need to order together so the kitchen wasn't overwhelmed. And she means it. Chop, chop! My BF and I - along with my hubs - were trying to figure out wine first and then what we would share for food, and the server was NOT happy when she came over and found out that we weren't ready (off with their head! That's the look we got.). She first suggested we wait till the next hour (!!) to order -- but then gave in when we assured her we would be ready shortly. Sheesh! She clearly reveres "Chef" -- but this was a lot. She later chilled out, and we relaxed. Thank goodness. Not a super great start - but no matter! There are 2 wine lists -- one that has 'by the glass' & bottle options that are more in line with mainstream prices. Then there's a premium list, if you so choose. Great idea all around! We ordered a really nice bottle of Nebiolo after the excellent bartender allowed us some tastings of various wines. She also helped with menu explanations that were more down to earth than the Sergeant Major Server's explanations. The food!! Oh, the food. Apps: * Kale salad -- bits of white anchovy (but not fishy!), Parmesan, & crunchy bits -- I forget what all was in it, but it was incredibly flavorful. * Homemade rosemary focaccia w/ roasted garlic EVOO (the roasted garlic slathered onto the bread like butter!) -- YUM! Entrees: * Trout cakes: INCREDIBLE. Star of the night. Fresh trout chopped down to resemble crab cakes. Very little filler. The aioli the 2 cakes were on was to die for. Broccolini perfectly roasted. * Pork chop: Next fave of the night. Perfectly cooked, and though we were a bit turned off by the prospect of "vinegar peppers" (sheshito), the roasted confit garlic and in-house smoked pork belly all came together to make a flavorful dish. (Hubs still wasn't totally sold on the vinegar taste, but I loved it). * Ricotta Gnocchi Pomodoro: very plain but flavorful, chewy gnocchi (not typical) with a nice, fresh tomato sauce. Simple but good. Dessert --- omg omg SO good. Quick note first --- Jillian popped out of the kitchen to check on everyone, and she told us she's never had any formal training. WHAT?!? These desserts she made were nothing short of excellent. I'm only sorry we didn't have room for her cheesecake! * Chocolate flan -- holy mackerel, if I could have one thing before I die, it will be this dish (and I'm not a dessert person!!) Velvety, chocolate-moosy masterful pudding/custard topped with a perfect, light, crunchy, caramelly tasting top. Insane. * The Sticky Bun --- I could never eat a whole one of these - a wildly-rich, buttery, cinnamony bun with a slight exterior crunch -- served with 3 scoops of homemade vanilla ice cream "to cut the sweetness," says Jillian (!!!). WOAH. So flavorful. Def a dish to share. A really wonderful night. Seriously. It's a laid back place (no fancy dress needed!) with a very fine focus on simple, good, fresh food. Just our speed. We can't wait to go back (Jillian told us she's pregnant - so we might have to wait till she's back or sneak in a visit before she takes off! ). Gotta try the homemade chips/onion-caviar dip; the duck, the steak frites, and even those $32 (!!) roasted fresh mushrooms (a side item!). Menu items are constantly changing -- sometimes even in the middle of service (!!) --- but here's hoping there are some staples Chef returns to.

The inside is cozy and intimate with a bar area and a handful of tables. There wasn't a ton of seating so I would make a reservation. They feature a more laid back menu of burgers, small plates, and salads on Wednesdays and the four of us ordered one of everything to share. We enjoyed everything we got and highlights included the wings, Caesar salad, thrice fried fries, and, of course, the burger! We also got one of each dessert to share and I will be thinking about those grilled stickies for a long time. The staff was really friendly but the service was a bit on the slow side so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry!
