Being one of the only D'Amico's left and on the opposite side of the city from me, decided to stop by for a quick lunch while in the area. Had all of the things that I remember loving about D'Amico's. I had the salad sampler, my favorite lunch there. I got it with the burrata tomato, quinoa, and cherry chicken salads. Basil lemonade was also in season so that was a must as well. Hubs tried the pistachio pizza. I snabbed a bite of that as well and it was quite good. One thing to note, the parking situation here isn't the greatest. We ended up in the ramp accessible near 51st and France. read more

We went to D'amico to check out their $50 date night deal (amazing deal) and also brought our two kids along, bc parenting. It was a beautiful evening so we opted for the patio! Their Date Night deal is every Thursday from 4-pm to close, and you each get to chose one green salad (mixed or Caesar), one entree (pizza, pasta, anything!) and refillable house wine or local craft tap beer. Honestly, great options. Everyone was helpful and we ended up going with one of each salad and chicken Marsala and lasagna for our entrees. I went with the wine while hubby got beer! Kiddos had spaghetti and mac and cheese! Overall, great food and vibes. We were told things were made when we ordered and I love that! Salads came out quickly and were good! Kids food arrived and my son inhaled his spaghetti and my other son loved his mac (I tried it and also thought it was V tasty). My Marsala was wonderful! Flavorful and that sauce - *chefs kiss* My husband thought the lasagna was also good! The entree portions are smaller, so be ready (I could have used at least one more chicken patty thing) and price wise - if you're not on the date night train - is pricier than you might like? I love me some pasta and Damico has some good ones! It was pretty dead inside on a Sunday evening and we were ordering to-go. Parking is a pain at this location. Even though you're not suppose to, we just parked in the lunds & byerlys and walked across the street. My go-to is the garlic shrimp spaghetti. It's got wonderful garlicky buttery flavors and the Parmesan adds the perfect texture. I was a little disappointed in my serving sized compared to my partners pasta dish though. I just want alllll the pasta. Plus this is very expensive pasta so please give me more. My partners chicken penne was also amazing! My wish is that they lower their prices. I had a gift card to D'Amico burning a hole in my pocket, and decided to pick up from their Edina location this week. I had catered in D'Amico a few times in the past at the U of M, but hadn't actually been into one myself. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a bummer experience. INTERIOR: Is a plus! It's clean and fancy looking with nice tile and decor. There was hardly anyone in during the lunch hour - maybe most take out or cater? They do have a nice patio area as well. MENU: Is limited - a few salads, a few soups, and a handful of things in the case. A small soup and tiny antipasti plus ice cream was over $20. SERVICE: Was brutal on my stop in. I asked about the salads for the soup and salad combo, and the cashier pointed me to the signature salads menu. I pick one, and she walks around trying to figure out how to make it while I stand at the counter. Another team member says I can only pick from the antipasti or pasta salads in the case, and I can't mix and match. The cashier slowly gets the soup, a tiny to-go of the antipasti, and ice cream in between fiddling with the register - this whole process took no less than 15 minutes, with no sense of timeliness or hospitality. Usually in a patient person, but this was pretty painful. There are so many nice options in the area - unfortunately, I won't be back here. read more

I'm a bit surprised at the poo poo reviews......yes this is not Broder's but doesn't want to be. For about $50, you can get 2 decent entrees and unlimited wine. Not a bad deal. The pasta with spicy sausage is very good, as are the pizzas and the chicken parm (even though chicken parm fails vs veal parm, which I would give them a 5th star if they offered it) There is free parking in the garage behind, the service is quick and they make an effort to come around with the wine refills. I wish the wine was a bit better quality....I'd pay another buck to get something more decent....but one of the only bottomless wine places you'll find in the cities. read more

We haven't been here for at least 10 years, things have changed. They had a hard time taking our order. I gave up trying to order a glass of wine. The staff seemed to have been on the job about a week. The chairs looked cheap and there was pasta on the floor beneath our table. I had the sausage and penne yesterday. It was terrible! There was barely any sauce, and the sausage was dry and overcooked. It was as if they had kept is in a warmer for hours. In addition, even though it was slow at 4 pm, and there only a few people in the restaurant, the empty tables by the window were dirty, so we had to seat elsewhere. This is a local chain and catering company. There is always a wide selection of cold pasta salads, pasta meals, coal fired pizzas, and green salads. Since I went there to use my free birthday meal, I had to order the fall special of butternut squash ravioli with veggies and topped with a brown butter sauce. It was very rich, yet delicious. If I had paid for it, the cost would have been $15 for a very small portion. There always seems to be a line here to order food. Once your order is placed, they will deliver the food out to your table. The staff was kind and quick. Tip-I get emails about date night for $32, which switches each month. This includes 2 meals, dessert, and a bottle of wine or 2 beers. Not bad. read more

So. I've been hitting up D'Amico's for over 15 years, and I'm noticing their yelp reviews seem to go along with my feelings. A slow slide into meh. Yeah, I'll probably come here again but why? BC it's easy enough and my kids dont complain. But I'm still miffed they took away my favorite salad. And my favorite sandwich. And the last time I was here, there seemed to be a lot of confusion about who was in charge of taking orders. And we didnt get our side of fruit that comes with kids meals. They were out of butter at the drink station; I watched as the manager grabbed the container and then proceeded to go behind the counter...and talk with his employees in a chit chatty way. Reliably good Italian-style deli with a nice variety of pastas, salads and entrees. We are particularly found of the dried cherry and turkey pasta salad and their tangy Cesar salad. We stopped in recently because we hadn't planned ahead and all the real restaurants at 50th and France had long waits. The place was reasonably busy with young families but there wasn't any problem getting a table on a Saturday evening after placing our order. In the evenings they offer free refills of their house wines - not the highest quality vintages but hey, its free! - which is a nice touch. read more

We enjoy the amica club special of a pasta or pizza with side salad and bottomless wine. Otherwise expensive. The dinner entrees are not as good as they used to be. Went for valentine's day last two years. 2017 was wonderful. 2018 valentine's day was horrible. Way too busy. So many people there with kids! Why? It's valentine's day selfish family people! So nowhere to sit! Standing with our salads and wine waiting for somewhere to sit. Finally someone leaves but no one clearing tables. I looked around, no place to put the dirty dishes and glasses. No towel to clean off the table. Finally someone came by. We ordered the Italian style steak. Was ok, but what was Italian style? Just a basic steak. Also had the chicken prosciutto meal. Over cooked and dry when last year it was amazing and also had an egg on the asparagus. They need much better bread. An Italian place should have a wonderful Italian bread not that bland bread. For Mother's Day Moms eat free so the line is massive. The employees were on it they would go through the line ask how many were in your party and find a table for you. The bottomless mimosas were fun for my mother in law. The food was fresh and delish. We had the balsamic chicken salad, sausage penne pasta, mozzarella tomato salad and the chicken and fried cherry salad. All were great. The fresh bread is really good. read more

"I did that, like, intensely for, like 4 days" his tight shoulder length blond curls bounce as I wait for him to say "Dude". I think he's escaped from 'Bill and Feds Big Adventure', he looks all of 17. Totally engaging. Later as he passes my table he smiles and dances or tops up my bottomless wine glass ($8 in a tumbler glass). He oozes good karma to everyone around him. Gosh another one of my favorites. I've been going to D'Amico & sons for years. The best one was 50th and France Edina and up town was good. The pizzas are great thin crust and I adore the sea food shrimp pasta. Another really nice thing is when you order if you want sun dried tomatoes or capers added to your dish they always try to please the customer. It's very clean and responsible prices. My wife said I would love the sandwiches here and I am constantly on the lookout for the best sandwich in the cities lately. (Clancey's Roast Beef in Linden Hills in ahead of the pack so far.) We entered the location in the ritzy part of Edina on 50th. and France and there were two older ladies enjoying some salads and a younger couple sitting next to each other. After scanning the menu, I chose the turkey and avocado on caraway rye and a diet coke. Kind of classy that they give you a glass for your coke. I also read that if you get wine, they are unlimited refills as well, not sure if that was true or not. While we were waiting an Italian couple sauntered in and they were older as well, so my wife and I looked at each other and figured that was a good sign. There was a lot of turkey on the sandwich and the avocado was like an avocado spread and it got kind of messy, and messier with each bite. Lots of big red onion hunks were good, but overall it overpowered the turkey and avocado flavor. It was a nice solid, filling sandwich though. The service was good, but not great. I didn't really feel welcomed and they seemed to be going through the motions. All in all, for 10 bucks I would go to Clancey's Meat and Fish in a minute instead of D'Amico and Sons, but the pizzas and some of their salads looked real good too. read more

I love this place, and am generally here at least 2-3 times a month with my family or friends. It's our "go to place". The food is not super fancy, but solidly good. Can't beat the unlimited wine refills. It's definitely a place you can linger and chat while you eat your food, and the staff is amazingly friendly and remembers us all the time. I agree with another reviewer who says the value is a great reason to go. Prices are very reasonable - my family and I can get away with $50 for the three of us, plus they have stamp cards to get a free meal after you purchase 5. As much as we love to try different restaurants, every time we pay more than $50 for mediocre food we wish we would have just gone to Damico's. read more

I hadn't been to D'Amico in probably ten years, so on Saturday night with no dinner plans and a crabby toddler, we decided to check it out. There were some highs and some lows. Highs: They have bottomless house wine (chianti or pinot grigio) for $8.95. That says it all. And while I was skeptical of how responsive they'd be to an empty glass (especially because it's an order at the counter place), they did not disappoint - someone came around every 10-15 minutes. Yaaaaaaas. It's also a cozy little restaurant. Very relaxed, but cute enough that it feels a little special. And it's super kid friendly. There were a lot of families there, and I didn't feel judged about my rowdy toddler. The kids meal was a pretty good price, and it came with a drink and dessert. Lows: Placing my order was a bit of a cluster. The guy welcomed me up to the register, then proceeded to spend 45 seconds yelling back and forth to another employee. While employee #1 got my wine, employee #2 handed back my credit card and receipt because he was trying to ring another customer on the same register. Then employee #3 handed me my table number, and employee #1 came back with my wine. At this point, employee #1 ID'd me. No problem, but it would have been great if that happened during a normal stage of the transaction and before the wallet got packed back into the bowels of the diaper bag. And no mention of the drink or dessert with the kids meal - I had to chase those down separately from two different wine filler people. The food quality wasn't amazing - my husband likened it to Chipotle quality. And the portion on my entree was absurdly small. When they brought the food out, my daughter's kids meal serving of pasta was noticeably larger than my entree. Really odd. Despite the lows, we will be back. They have an early dinner special (4-5:30) if you sign up for their emails or something - $15.95 per person for a side salad, entree, and bottomless wine. Sold sold sold. read more

Avoid the pre-made deli salads. While they may look nice, good flavor and good quality are sorely lacking. I think my first visit to this location today will likely be my last. Their salad sampler plate is now $11.50. After paying for mine along with a glass of wine, and adding to their tip jar, I realized that neither I nor my friend was offered an accompaniment of bread with our sampler plates. I stood there a minute or so waiting for the attention of the guy who'd just served us (he was on the phone) and another employee saw me and came to assist. He filled a small plate with 5 slices of what turned out to be not so great bread. One of my salad selections was their chicken and dried cherry pasta (several years ago it was one of my long-standing favorites). The portion I received had one tiny piece of chicken and maybe a few dried cherries along with a lot of tasteless pasta. It was not worth eating. Although the kale, quinoa and red & yellow pepper salad "looked" pretty, it was fairly tasteless. And the tuna salad with really large chunks of red onion and colored bell peppers was salty, but otherwise rather bland. Very disappointed with food quality. It seems that this restaurant chain does not care at all about their quality of food offerings. Sad. read more

I have loved D'Amico for years, but my love is waning after my last 3 visits. The balsamic strawberry chicken salad that I had at least once a week when I worked near a store has become inedible. It still looks beautiful, but the chicken is dry, tough and downright unpleasant to chew. I kept ordering hoping it had been a bad day for the cook, but after 3 tries, I'm out. The grandchildren like to go there because they love the Mac n cheese and spaghetti on the children's menu. Both are delicious. That's the good news. The bad news is that the last 2 times we've been there they were out of milk. Really? There is a Lund's right across the street and I saw what looked to be a manager come in after we sat down with a bag of groceries. The ice cream scoop seemed to have shrunk as well. If you choose to eat here, choose the Penne pasta dish with sausage. That was excellent. read more

If D'Amico was a girlfriend she'd be driving me nuts with how boring she is. I mean, who wants predictable in a lady? Not moi! D'Amico is the girl who gets with you every night before bed, but not on the kitchen table during the middle of the day. D'Amico is the girl who loves you but never lusts for you. D'Amico is the girl who......well, you get it. Good thing D'Amico is a restaurant. Predictable is good in a restaurant. Not great, mind you, but good. Sandwiches are good, pizza is good, the salads are good, pastas are good. Not drop dead gorgeous great, but good. D'Amico should definitely be on your list of girls you visit once every month or two, but only when she calls. Never let D'Amico be the one you chase. I am a huge fan of D'amico for several reasons! 1. The ambiance inside is always cozy and inviting 2. The pasta, salads, pizzas and sandwiches are consistently amazing! I definitely recommend the butternut squash ravioli! My fav :) 3. The endless glass of wine is unbeatable. As long as you are eating they will go around and keep filling up your glass. Who's going to complain about that? 4. I think the value here is another reason to love D'amico. You can have a delicious dinner for two, with all the wine you can drink and a comfortable environment for around $40. Their salad selection has been completely updated and the salad sampler for under $8.29 is a fantastic deal. Each one of my samplers was delicious: Roasted yellow beet with goat cheese and hazelnuts. Fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, asparagus, ceci beans and celery salad. And I got the daily soup of navy beans with escarole. Great tasting dinner that two of us shared. D'Amico's soups and salads are consistently good. I don't get the pasta, pizza or entrees as often so cannot comment. They have a punch card now - one punch for each pizza/pasta/entree and the 6th one is free. read more

Another train wreck of an experience. Overprice and underwhelmed and underserved. Cold soup, stale bread & wilted lettuce; took soup back for a warmup, manager was too busy to be bothered. The busser came and asked how things were, we expressed our thoughts and he took care of us. He should be promoted, and the tool behind the counter should be fired. Kristin V and I grabbed an early dinner at D'amico & Sons before going to see "500 Days of Summer" last Saturday. It was a beautiful day, which lent perfectly to patio dining or, in the case of this location, sidewalk. It was my first visit, but everything's pretty straight-forward... Order, a-la fast food, and receive something entirely more fresh and tasty looking. Wow, what a cool thing! The counter area was nice and clean and everything in the case, and behind the counter, looked positively munch-worthy. I ordered the half salad, half sandwich, lunch and chose the Fresh Mozzarela Romesco salad and Toscano sandwich. Kristin chose a Penne pasta dish. Mine was ready right away, and Kristin's came to our table soon after. My salad was crisp and fresh. The asparagus and zucchini were a crunchy foil to the soft mozzarella and the light dressing was a perfect complement to them all. My sandwich was straightforward and honest... just a few simple elements working together to make a tasty bit of sustenance. Nice! Kristin appeared to enjoy her pasta as well. We were soon running off to catch "500 Days of Summer" which, by the way, was pretty darned good, satisfied enough to skip the movie theater junk-food. Thanks D'amico & Sons. Wow, we had dinner here last Saturday since there was a date night dinner advertised. First, we stopped at Breadsmith across the street since it has my favorite raisin walnut rye bread on Saturdays only. Then, we stopped here for our pre-Valentine's dinner. Well, the crowd was kinda light since it was just 5PM but later picked up. I had the chicken penne and my wife had the shrimp capellini. Well, I liked my wife's dish better and they were generous with the shrimp. My dish was larger and meatier so probably worth it if you wanted a hearty meal. Otherwise, I would have chosen my wife's dish. We had 2 salads as starters as well with a bottle of white wine for only $32. Not a bad deal, huh. Such a quality place for lunch. I work part-time at Athleta on 50th and France, and this is my favorite place to go on my lunch break. I always get the same thing, and it's so good I would have a hard time getting something else! For $10 you can get one of their combos. (Make sure you get a combo card from them as well-- buy 5 combos, get one free!) So in the combo you can get 1/2 a sandwich, and one salad from inside the case. I get the mozzarella/ tomato/basil panini sandwich with the gorgonzola chicken pasta salad. Both of these really are amazing. The panini just all melts together to create a flavor explosion in your mouth. The gorgonzola chicken salad is just indescribable, it's that good. Make sure to get extra gorgonzola on the top. You also get a slice of bread with butter and a bag of chips. Quite a lot of food for the price! And the staff! The amazing staff! Every time I go I get a warm welcome from the gang behind the counter. I feel like I belong. It's awesome. read more
