We recently moved from our Connecticut home of 39 years to Plymouth, Ma to be close to our children…read moreand grandchildren, living in Duxbury and West Falmouth. We downsize our home to one level from a five bedroom colonial in Connecticut, so we knew we wanted to finish off our basement @ 1,000 sq ft. for a play area for our six grandchildren. Unlike Connecticut, where we had a personal finish Carpenter that would do all our work. We had to search out to find someone that we felt comfortable with and did outstanding work Our son had finished off a mudroom at his house in Duxbury and the team from Cranland Carpentry, Inc did the work. The quality workmanship was outstanding, and they built a custom seat with shelves underneath. I wasn't sure if they would finish off a basement in Plymouth, but I asked them if they would be interested, and if so provide a quote. The quote was very competitive with the three other companies that I asked to quote. I hired Cranland Carpentry Inc. to handle the finish carpentry for my basement remodel. They helped with all the design work and did all the building permits. They made my life a lot easier, and the results are honestly transformative. Bringing a vision for a basement to life requires a specific eye for detail, and the craftsmanship delivered here was top-tier. The trim work, doors, closet and molding are outstanding. We had a few awkward structural columns and they designed custom casings and built-in shelves in another area. * Professionalism: Beyond the woodworking skills, the job site was kept remarkably clean. For a project of this scale, I appreciated the clear communication regarding timelines and material choices. Cranland Carpentry team were always the same guys, very professional, courteous and a pleasant to have in our home. Buying a mini-split system is an incredibly difficult process. The Mass Save rebate system is very…read moredifficult to navigate. I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!

Extremely Disappointing & Maddening Experience…read more We have been working with Drohan Development for over a year on a major addition and renovation project, and unfortunately, the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite the scale and significance of this project, the company has consistently fallen short in several critical areas. 1. Quality of Work The quality of workmanship in many areas has been unacceptable. We've encountered numerous issues that have required constant follow-up and rework. This has significantly delayed progress and project completion and left us questioning the overall integrity of their work. 2. Delays and Missed Deadlines Timelines provided by the contractor have been repeatedly missed without explanation or accountability. They use words like "we hope" or "we are trying" or "we are waiting to hear" and then no word on when a sub is showing up and when they do, we are supervising them vs them which is maddening. What should have been a straightforward renovation has dragged on far longer than expected, causing stress, unexpected time needed on our part and additional expenses. 3. Poor Communication and Responsiveness One of the most frustrating aspects of working with this company has been the lack of communication. Repeated calls, emails, and messages often go unanswered for days or even weeks. Gaslighting at its finest. When we do get a response, it is often vague or dismissive followed by continued silence leaving us with more questions than answers. 4. Lack of Overall Customer Service We expected a professional and customer-focused experience, especially given the significant cost of this project. Instead, we've encountered indifference and, at times, outright hostility when raising concerns. They have taken no responsibility or accountability for their own actions and that of their subcontractors. Is a matter of fact we have served as the onsite project manager with no one from Drohan supervising their contractors, or ensuring work was done and completed correctly and that continues to this day since our project still isn't done. 5. Unmet Expectations Overall, Drohan has failed to deliver on their promises. A project that was promised in 6-8 months has dragged on now for more than a year and their silence is deafening. We had high hopes for this renovation, but the repeated setbacks and ongoing issues have turned it into a nightmare. Recommendation We cannot in good conscience recommend Drohan Development for any home renovation or construction project. If you value quality work, clear and consistent communication, accountability when things don't go right and timely delivery, save yourself and look elsewhere.
