On top of providing top-tier service and doing beautiful work, RK came in under time and on budget. During the planning phase, Ralph was easy to communicate with, very detailed and patient in his explanations of the process, and presented us with exactly the design we asked for. During the construction phase, Manny served as job supervisor and was onsite every day caring for our home as though it was his own. My husband and I both work hybrid schedules and the bulk of the work was done during our daughter's summer vacation, so at least one of us was always in the way of the work being done. Manny, Mike, and everyone respected our space, cleaned the site daily, and took extra care to accommodate our needs. Manny was a wonderful partner to us throughout the process - he knew when to execute exactly what we wanted and he knew when we were indecisive or overwhelmed and how to guide us. He served as conductor and coordinator of so many moving parts and made it seem smooth and seamless. Throughout the process, we met with vendors for cabinetry, appliances, tile, countertops, and plumbing fixtures as well as their subcontractors for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, tiling, and hardscaping. The respect and admiration each of them had for Ralph and all of the RK crew was evident in talking to them and served as a huge reassurance for us. We solicited quotes from three contractors. RK Construction did not come in at the lowest price. They use high-quality products and their craftsmanship is intentional and meticulous in a way that earns the higher price tag. They got paint on our floors, on our furniture and linens, did not remove switch plates before painting, painted a room the wrong color, got wall paint all over trim. Very sloppy drywall repair and completely unsatisfactory trim woodwork. The company has several crews of workers, so you don't know who you will get. After much (argumentative) back and forth with the company, they did send someone to fix mistakes. Thankfully they sent someone different (Danny) who was honest and skillful. He spent 3 full days fixing the mistakes of the original crew.
