We adore this kind of food and this spot. Whenever we want a hot bowl of pho this is the place we immediately think of and go to. Consistently great service, efficient service, and quality of food. The bean sprouts are always crispy! And even if something is labelled as spicy the staff are really accommodating and can usually not add the spices but still give you the same great dish. The crispy chicken wings $15.95 is a solid example of this. I love them spicy but the kids prefer them not spicy and they are still really tasty without. We are also big fans of the appetizers- you can't go wrong with an order of green onion cakes, spring rolls, or salad rolls. Most recently we ordered the seafood wor wonton soup $19.95 and it was so filling with so much seafood and veggies. We have also quite enjoyed the beef noodle soup pho which is a nice not spicy option. Personally I love a little heat so I prefer to order Hue's Spicy Beef & Pork Noodle Soup $16.75 Top notch though I love to order the Vermicelli bowls - the 3 Color (Grilled Shrimp, Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls) $ 18.95 is one of our favourites. Along with the 4 color (Grilled pork, spring rolls, shrimp on sugarcane & pork patty) $19.95. Can't forget to mention my favourite beverage to order every time is a Vietnamese coffee- iced or hot both are delightful. For my lunch break thought I'd try this place out as I was in the neighbourhood. My coworker and I both ordered the same thing shrimp and chicken salad rolls and green onion cake to share. This location you walk in and order your food and pay then go sit down, it's like an Edo Japan almost. Condiments are over to the side and you grab what you need. It's a small restaurant but clean and quaint. Our food came out we both asked for peanut sauce to which the server brought it out. Typically at other Vietnamese restaurants you get sweet chilli sauce with your green onion cakes here that was not an option (not a big deal). We had hoisin and Sambal. The green onion cakes were good and nice and hot about $6.95 for 2. The salad rolls were very bland and lack lustre. No herbs to give it that freshness I've had in the past and the shrimps were sliced in two or three so you didn't have much for a protein. The peanut sauce was runny and just didn't taste good at all. Neither of us enjoyed it. The place was busy and people enjoying their food this just wasn't the place for us. read more

When your favorite Pho place starts opening up more chains, you go to compare on how they go against their OG shop, right? Resembling more of their West side location, acting more as an express/takeout style concept, where you order and pay at the counter and gather all your utensils and condiments off to the side while you seat yourself. Surprisingly a lot more spacious than what you'd expect walking through the narrow entryway. Though this space isn't as welcoming as the OG spot, and also not as well kept. (Few tables were still in need of being wiped up and cleaned off.) All in all, they were quick to finish my orders and nothing was missing. Wouldn't come to this location to sit down to eat though. Crispy Spicy Chicken Wings - ($9.95) - SO, SO GOOD. Very generous portion and came straight out of the deep fryer, chicken was super crispy and the pepper and spice mix really had you craving for more. Totally kicking myself for not trying this sooner. This is a must! Grilled Beef Salad Rolls ($8.25) - I've tried all three combos of proteins, and honestly the grilled beef is my ultimate favorite. They marinate the beef and proceed to grill it before wrapping it up. The grill with the marinade makes for a beautiful char which was harmony along with the sweet hoisin sauce they have on the side. Wor Wonton Soup - ($12.95) - Subbed with their beef soup which ended up being the more flavorful choice, this was a light addition and the wontons were filled with plenty of meat fillings. My one con to this dish was the imitation crab meat that didn't need to be there. With shredded chicken and fresh whole shrimp, the slices of imitation crab meat just looked and tasted out of place. read more

This little gem recently opened up in the Britnell area of NE Edmonton. CLOSED on Tuesdays - let me just get that out their front and center! Nothing worse than showing up on a Tuesday all excited to have a Calamari lunch date to find them closed on your lunch hour with not enough time to venture elsewhere :-( Okay, sob story over! The owner is super nice and the atmosphere is clean, modern, and bright! All cutlery and serving plates/bowls are disposable - little known fact - it's easier and cheaper for them not to be licensed for a dishwasher - Seriously?!? Yep, seriously! He's got some wicked delicious wings and calamari - both prepared in a slightly spicy vietnamese rub! I often order the calamari and a side of a pork chop and egg - that's right, a side of a pork chop and egg! Delish! All that goodness for about $15! They have Pho soups (which my friends tell me are pretty darn good here!) and Vermicelli bowls with options a plenty. I'm a pretty picky Vietnamese eater and while I enjoyed their Vermicelli bowl, it didn't rank anywhere near my love affair with Golden Bird in China Town (Try #44 their or the Sunshine plate - I dare you to tell me it's not the best you'v ever had!)... Anyway, I digress... My main complaint with the vermicelli bowl is I find it a little on the dry side - if ordering to go, ask for extra fish sauce and my other issue is the fish sauce is plain if you know what I mean? I like my fish sauce seasoned and seasoned while fermenting -- not just from me putting in hot sauce. Awesome little Vietnamese restaurant which may be better than the original. When it opened it truly was express with everything served in to-go containers. Since then they have moved to real dinnerware which has improved the experience. It still has that express feel though as you go up to the counter to order, you get all your own cutlery and sauces off on the side and then sit to wait for your meal. Let me tell you, it is well worth the wait. A friend and I recently tried the Bún bò Hue. Wow. I had just had it the week before at Co Đô Hue in northwest Edmonton. Although I thought that was good, this was great! The broth was perfectly spiced - always spicy but never too spicy to keep going. The meat selection was a little more varied at the other location but the flavours were so much better here. Very impressive. read more

Please Read! Health warning!!! I went into this restaurant and ordered a vermicelli bowl and halfway through my meal I found a big chunk of plastic wrap cooked in with my food. When I asked one of the workers about this they had the audacity to offer me another bowl of food instead of a refund. But I was completely disgusted and did not want to gamble with my life.I did get a refund and left. I did use to like eating here but after what happened today I will never come back here again nor will I let anyone I care about eat here. read more

I kept it really simple and just got the #16... regular pho with med rare beef. The only thing that really disappointed me is that there was only one size. Maybe I've been spoiled by the options at Pho Han Pasteur... but I just find it too much to eat a whole big bowl! The soup was delicious as expected. Nothing really stood out about it at all.. but overall it was very good. The difference here was the atmosphere. It was very warm and welcoming. I don't find myself that far north too often, but when I do, I'll gladly visit this place again! read more

It's really nice to have a pho restaurant that's close to home and Co Do Hue Express is just a stone's throw from my neck of the woods. I wasn't sure what to expect before eating here, since I figured it was just a take-out place for the longest time. It is, but it also offers dining in, in a similar vein to Mt. Fuji. Customers can order at the bar and then their food will be brought out--the only different from most pho restaurants is that you have to get up to order, which isn't even a big deal. The food was surprisingly good and on par with many other pho restaurants in the area. I've tried both the steak pho and the five colour bowl and they're both very good. The prices are great, as to be expected, and service is fast. It has a little more of a fast food feel, but that's to be expected considering the nature of the restaurant. I have tried almost all the well-known Vietnamese restaurants in this country and I am confident to say that this place has the best BBH broth. And that is how I judge a V-restaurant, by how they can master the BBH. The BBH has the right amount of salt, spice, sweetness and tang. The right noodle amount, its texture and size. A good amount of meat and the right tenderness. and everything in between. Though, their best creation is the blend of BBH and a Thai style Tom Yum base. The best of both worlds actually. I have not seen this broth anywhere else. There are other reasons to boast about this place. Their other rice style dishes is on its own level as well. Maybe it's good if you eat in the restaurant, but by the time I picked up my order and got back to eat it, the broth was too cold to cook the rare beef. I eat a LOT of pho, my review page can attest, and often I get it delivered or for pick up. This is the first time I've ever had broth that was too cold to cook the meat. I like rare beef, so I tried to go along with eating the partially cooked meat, but the texture was really not good, slimy and chewy. I was really disappointed. The spring rolls were fine, nothing special. All in all, I wouldn't try again unless someone I was with attested to it being good in store. read more

One of the best things I can say is that they are consistent and the food is always tasty. If you want great pho or a delicious 4 Colorado vermicelli, this is a terrific choice. The food is reasonably priced. If you are expecting the giant portions that some Vietnamese restaurants serve, that may be your only disappointment, not that the servings are small. read more

The food, the rapid service, the comfortable atmosphere...it's almost like dining at home because it's so relaxing but with the pleasure of someone else doing the cooking and the clean up. I love coming here to eat when I'm in the Castle Down area visiting friends. They have a big list of dishes on the menu and it's easy on the eyes. It gives you confidence that the dish you've pick is going to be a good one! All the food is prepared in advance so you get your food pretty much right away. I like the colorful presentation of each dish. It's makes your meal seem more exciting to eat especially when they add some art to it. Food should be enjoyed like a piece of good artwork! I always see the staff filling up the sauces and making sure it doesn't get low. I usually order the Bun Bo Hue. There's a lot of meat and noodles in the soup which I like, because I always happen to choose this restaurant when I'm starving. I don't think it's Authentic but it does taste good. I've also tried several of there drinks and I didn't like how each of it tasted. The tea is usually warm and the servers are somewhat polite. This is a place that I find you can always enjoy your meal, but don't over stay your welcome because this ain't a coffee shop! read more

I use to work in the same shopping complex and would see the staff dump the mop bucket out the back door dumping the soap, chemicals and grease down the sewer system. You can see the stain on the asphalt from the back door of there and the nail place next door. If you care about the environment I would suggest eating somewhere else read more

This is a very small place with a limited menu, which isn't an issue when you execute the menu well. I found the Phò very salty and over bearing however the brisket was very tender and delicious. The best part about my visit was my iced coffee, it took a while to get to me but was worth the wait. In my opinion this place is a pass for the food but I would recommend an iced coffee if that's your thing. read more

Me and my boyfriend frequent this place usually 1-2 times a week, but after the experience we had today we will not be going back. I ordered the vegetarian salad rolls, and my boyfriend pork on rice to go. When we arrive home my salad rolls had beef in them, and being vegan I will not even pick the beef out. My boyfriend called to explain the mix up and the girl on the phone was beyond useless but we eventually ordered a new order of veggie rolls and went to pick them up. And to our shock they made us pay for them! So not only did we have to pay for the beef ones that didnt get eaten and were more expensive then the veggie ones, but we had to drive there for the second time and pay for the new order!
