Delicious doesn't even begin to cover it! This is the perfect place to treat yourself to a big dinner! It was a little on the pricey side, but not anything out of the ordinary for takeaway, especially considering the huge amount you get in each dish. We ordered way too much and the portions are GINORMOUS! They were super also accommodating for a shellfish allergy, and made sure to acknowledge that they understood the note, which is super comforting. There were TONS of veggies in the cantonese chow mein, and they were super crispy, fresh, and delicious (made up for our lack of veggies in the rest of the order). They have my all-time fave mushroom eggdrop soup which is always a win for me. We will absolutely be ordering from Cypress Garden again and I can't wait to eat all those leftovers! read more

I've been ordering take-out / delivery periodically from Cypress Garden for almost 20 years. Overall, the food is consistently good. It's a lot like the "North Americanized" Chinese food that's been served in Canadian and U.S. restaurants since God-knows-when. If you're looking for something more "authentic" or Asian fusion this may not be the place for you. But, so far I have no complaints. The portion sizes are really good too. You always get such a good value at Cypress Garden. Not only do they have really tasty, well-portioned food, but they also have really affordable prices and even offer free dishes, like chicken fried rice or chow mein, if you order reaches a certain amount. They will even make your dishes not spicy or without MSG, if you request it. I've only ever ordered Cypress Garden for delivery, which is quite fast, only costs an extra buck, takes Interact, and they deliver until about midnight or so. They've been around for over 10 years and have quite an extensive menu. They offer Mandarin, Cantonese, and Szechuan dishes, and also a couple of random Canadian foods like poutine. They have lot of different combination plates and family dinners, with a good variety of food included in each one. My favorites are Buddha's Delight vegetables, Mo-She Pork, Lemon Chicken, General Tao's Chicken, Crispy Beef, and Fried Beef and Rice Noodles with Black Bean Sauce. My order took almost 2 hours to arrive, and there was no update about the delay whatsoever. In addition to that the packaging was really terrible. The whole plastic bag was covered with sauce, including the drinks, the dessert and the main dish. I was like.. OK, things happen; maybe they were having a really busy day so they did not pay attention.. until my partner ended up almost getting choked by a big piece of wood in the main dish. NEVER AGAIN. I am not an easy complainer on food, but this was absolutely a TERRIBLE experience altogether. When I tried to call them, they didn't bother answering the phone and I had to give up to not ruin the rest of the night. Delicious take out. We ordered an assortment of Szechuan dishes (and some bland stuff for the kids) and they completely hit the spot. Flavours and textures were just right. Price was reasonable. Delivery was much faster than they predicted. The food was hot. I'd been unhappy with my previous Chinese take-out place and so I didn't have high expectations when ordering, but when I finished eating I had a huge smile on my face. The vegetarian selection is fairly slim. This isn't innovative, or fusion, and probably isn't "authentic" (never having been to China, I don't even know what that is), but if you're looking for the Chinese food you've loved over the years this is a great version of it. read more

If you like hair in your food, order mixups and lousy customer service then cypress garden is right for you! Don't get me wrong, the food was good and the portions are amazing for the price. I am writing this while still waiting for the food to show up. We ordered at 4:00PM on a Sunday, was told it would be 45min-1-hour and we are coming on 1.5 hours now. I called to check in and see where the food was and the man was very rude and did not offer any apology or explanation. I have been ordering from Here for years almost once a week. Lately we have noticed a decline both in the quality and service. In fact the last time we ordered (June 11 2012) they messed up the order and forgot the Beef with black bean sauce,and cooked it with MSG even though we asked for no MSG. When we got home The food tasted as good as it always does, except this time 15-20 minutes after eating the whole family was fighting for the bathroom, and then the vomiting started. We just had food delivered from this restaurant. The order took almost 2 hours from when I placed the order and when I phoned to find out why it was taking so long I got a surly abrupt speaking employee. Adding insult to injury was the fact that the food was terrible! I mean really bad! The egg rolls tasted like there was cinnamon in them and when my friend bit into one the inside plopped out of the wrapper still fully formed. It lay there looking for all the world like a turd... really repulsive looking. The chicken balls were spongy and bland. The "sweet and sour" sauce tasted like apple juice thickened with cornstarch. The fried rice had minuscule amounts of chicken in it and needed salt. When do you ever need to put more salt in Chinese food?? The anemic white noodle dish tasted like an anemic white noodle dish. The garlic ribs were..... well really, do I need to go on? I will never order from this restaurant again. Terrible.
