Literally unable to chew it. Fine, restaurants have bad days. Could be a fluke right? I call today to request a refund and the man refused to refund me, yelled at me, questioned whether I have ever had general Tao's chicken before and was generally extremely rude.

I'm happy to proclaim that it's still a solid 4 stars! Most of their business is takeout and delivery, but they do have a sizeable dining room. This place is certainly a family business. Our server, Calvin, is the son. His dad is in the kitchen, and his mom does a bit of everything (including serving the alcohol, because I think Calvin is underaged, or maybe he's just youthful looking and happens to not be Smart Serve certified, lol). Everyone was really nice and courteous, and Calvin was very attentive (refilling waters, checking in on us, etc.). We had egg rolls ($1.50 each), wonton soup ($4.50), Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.50), General Tao Chicken ($12.50) and Beef and Vegetables ($11). For 3 people, this was a lot of food. We had leftovers. The egg rolls were open ended and were crispy and full of ground pork. The wonton soup was tasty. The broth was flavourful, albeit a tad too salty for my liking. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. I liked that there were leafy greens in the soup, and even a slice of BBQ pork. The wontons themselves were filled with ground pork; more wrapper than filling, but this is the norm at most restaurants. The Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice was phenomenal. It was spicy in the sense that it was full of spices, but not hot spicy. It had a strong curry flavour to it. So flavourful and also generous with the amount of large shrimp. I have to admit that the General Tao Chicken did not look too appetizing, but looks in this case were deceiving because it tasted great. Not too spicy, and no strong hoisin taste (I don't like hoisin). More sweet than tangy. There were no leftovers for this dish. The Beef and Broccoli was good and filled with vegetables: broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, bamboo, baby corn, cabbage and onions. The beef was tender and there was a decent amount of it. The flavour was mild and less complex than with the other dishes, but we wanted a dish with vegetables in an attempt to be somewhat healthy that meal. This dish would be great for the less adventurous or those who are reluctant to try anything "too exotic." Those accustomed to international flavours may find it a bit boring. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. They are licensed but their alcohol selection is very limited. The hubster and his dad wanted red wine and there was only one choice. Luckily for everyone, they like Merlot. I feel that The New Queen is somewhere in between authentic Chinese cuisine and very Westernized Chinese food, although on the latter end of the spectrum. Yes, the place settings are set up with only forks and knives (no chopsticks), but the restaurant is in Stittsville, so you have to cater to your clientele ;) You won't find anything too exotic. However, the food is not greasy nor bland and actually has some flavour and spices. It is much better than most Canadian-Chinese food places in Stittsville/Kanata. Lots of people coming in and out for takeout, and delivery guys from different food delivering companies. It's not a date night kind of place, more a casual eatery. It's in a little strip mall, so there's free parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. Highly recommended!

So far all the things I've tried have been great, the service is patient while I run through my list of allergies, and they're relatively quick. There isn't a place to sit down and eat, this is a pick up and delivery type place but if you want a cozy night in eating Chinese food and you're in or around Westboro I'd highly recommend them.

But get this, since the order was over $31 we got some freebies: 3 egg rolls and a Chicken Fried Rice! At most places when you order the "Family Dinner Combos" you can't get their freebies, the freebies are only if you order à la carte, but at Golden Capital you get the freebies regardless of what you order as long as it's over $31. Woo hoo!! The portions are big and the food was very good. The egg rolls are the closed-ended type. They are filled with ground pork and cabbage. There's lots of meat, it's not mostly cabbage like at some places. Good flavour. The Special Fried Rice was full of small shrimp, BBQ pork and chicken. Lots of soy sauce though, the rice was very dark. No vegetables. The free Chicken Fried Rice was similar just without the shrimp and BBQ pork. The Garlic Spare Ribs were sweet and sticky. Nicely done. The Imperial Beef was spicy. You could see the flecks of chili peppers. The beef is not battered nor deep fried. The beef is tender and plentiful. Vegetables included broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery and onion. The Sweet and Sour Shrimps were basically like Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls but shrimp instead of chicken. The breading was a little too heavy for my liking, but this is typical of this type of dish. Probably my least favourite of all the things ordered. The Special Shanghai Noodles had medium sized shrimp, chicken and BBQ pork stir-fried with cabbage, onions and udon noodles. There was a lot of soy sauce in this dish as there was in the fried rice. I thought that Mushrooms Guy Pen would be a vegetarian dish, but was pleasantly surprised to find large pieces of chicken in it. There are white mushrooms in this dish, along with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery and onions. The flavour is mild and everything is stir-fried in a light coloured gravy-like sauce. I thought that the Special Bean Curd dish would be a vegetarian dish as well, again I was wrong, there were pieces of pork in it. The tofu in this dish was deep fried. It tasted like the pork was battered somewhat. The vegetables were broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery and onion. The taste was similar to the Mushrooms Guy Pen but the sauce was more opaque. So vegetarians and vegans beware, dishes that sound like they would be vegetarian contain meat! Overall I thought the food was very good. Yes, the vegetables are pretty much the same in many dishes and some sauces taste very similar. And it's North American Chinese Food. However, for the price I think it's a great deal since you get a lot of food, and the taste is good. It took about 45 minutes from the time I ordered to the time it arrived, which I think is reasonable. The delivery man was very nice. You also get a "coupon" every time you order over $23 worth of food (1 coupon per order, so I only got 1 coupon even though I ordered $58 worth of food). Once you collect 10 "coupons" you can claim a free "Dinner for 2" but you have to pick up your free dinner yourself (no delivery). Just so you know, the prices on the website are out-of-date. The new prices are a little bit higher (although not much, like just $0.20 difference for the fried rices, the biggest price hike is $3 for the Dinners for 5 and 6). I would order from here again.
