This was my first visit to this store; and I went there to have several of my dull-edged kitchen knives sharpened. My timing couldn't have been better, because there was a gentleman that was training a lady on how to properly operate the knife sharpening laser machine. Ms. Mary is such a beautiful spirit and a gem! Her and the man training her (i didn't get his name) they both did a great job of putting a razor-sharp edge on all of my knives! The Customer Service at this place is at a very high-level. All the employees here have very pleasant and helpful attitudes; something that is very rare these days! I was impressed and will definitely be doing more business at this Ace Hardware!!! read more

I have gone to this ACE Hardware several times to buy items that I needed for my projects. I pass 2 big box stores on the way to get there but I like the personal attention that you get. I also like fact that you can buy single items rather than a bag full as you do at the other stores. They also carry a number of gift items. It reminds me of a small town store. read more

I used to love shopping here, but that has all seemed to diminish as they hire new folks. The new employees seem to lack knowledge. The gentleman helping me tonight with propane tried charging me full price for a half full cylinder which was 4.7 gallons each if empty. I filled up a total of 6.4 gallons between the two tanks. I used to pay by the gallon months ago. The propane guy was unfriendly and lacked customer service. When I asked for a supervisor. His tone was sarcastic and rude, and made me feel inferior to him. I once went to ace for everything because of the great service and staff. I did not mind paying a little extra for things. I will say Makayla that rang up my products was very nice, calm and professional. Maybe the other staff could get some training on customer service from her. The supervisor did make it right by charging for 6.4 gallons instead of the wrong amount. In short. Ace was and still can be a good store. They have ruined their image for me. I was an ace premier customer, and it's sad to say that I will probably not be back anytime soon. What an odd experience. I walked into the place and was immediately greeted by a friendly face asking me how I was doing... This was quite startling, as I am accustomed to being shunned upon entrance at most places. As I ventured into the store I didn't make it 20 feet before being asked if they could help. Being hesitate of their motives at first, I mean I didn't seek them out and they spoke English. They showed me exactly what I was looking for, not just a shrug or point in the general direction. I knew I must have stepped into a time warp when I noticed so many items are Made in the USA. Is that even a thing anymore? What a weird place. read more

Today I stopped in at around 9am on my short break from work. I was thinking that I would mail off my gifts at the Post Office and be on my way. However, I was told that they only accepted cash or check which created a dilemma. I went to the front to purchase a box and wanted to get cash back to pay for my shipment. However, even after asking to speak with the manager, Nick, he came in and quickly scanned the drawers saying that he didn't have the cash to give me $40. I inquired saying really, "It's the top of the morning." I know that they have a $20 back rule, but this was my first time there. I really got a bad first time impression. No one tried to assist with helping me in which that's what managers are supposed to do a case by case situation. Honestly, I will probably never come back. I eventually remembered that I had $10 to help ship my gifts. I just hope that my package make it on time without any issues. I really didn't feel trusting after that. I feel like I stepped back "into time" at this Ace location. It was way less modern and way less helpful that the location on Grant and Spring Cypress. (There they accept credit/debit) I put my package tracking info in a complaint on Ace's website as well. I just need my package to make it without any problems. read more

I admit to doing most of my hardware shopping at Home Depot. But this is the store that you go to when you need to talk to the Old Man. You know the guy -- stooped over a bit, not as spry as he used to be -- but he was fixing plumbing puzzles before you were born. He knows the tricks that the whippersnappers at HD haven't even learned yet. And this Ace has those parts that work in your older house. Yes, the store is somewhat older and disorganized, and the prices are not always the best (though the part I needed on this visit was cheaper than Amazon's best price), but these are the stores we cannot do without. No issues with this store or their employees. I always like the service I receive from ACE. The one star is for their online/corporate service. Ordered a grill online, few days later I received an email that the order was canceled. ACE had canceled the order. I sent an email in through customer service but then decided to call in and talk to someone. Man I spoke to on the phone said the grill was canceled because missing parts on ones in stock. Ok fair enough. Then I get an email response and lady says it's was because my payment method was not processed. Weird because it shows up on my credit card (purchase and refund), lady says I should reorder using different card. Well I go online to look at the grill and it is now $215 more then what I originally was going to pay. The inconsistent response to why the order was canceled and drastically higher price leads me to believe the order was canceled by ACE because they wanted to get more money. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Since this isthe closest feed store to our house, I have been buying feed there for about a year. This place is ridiculous... My daughter changed the kind of feed for our horse and I didn't remember which one it was, so I bought 2 kinds. I returned 8 days later to exchange the feed for the right kind and was told they could not do it after 7 days. Some guy presented himself to explain to me the feed is contaminated....and they can't sell it. He went on to explain that the metal building they keep the feed in Is a controlled environment.. Ironic as it is raining and the door was wide open the whole time I was there... Shocked that the feed I had would have become contaminated from the 7th to 8 th day, I dare not keep it or give it to someone for the fear it is contaminated. This place is terrible. I spoke to Purina, they say there is a satisfaction guarantee within 30 days and it should be able to be returned to the dealer. read more

Wow this place has everything. .. home aid fudge counter, beef jerky, beer, horse supplies, dog food and much much more. . When we went on saturday they were featuring a bunch of local venders different thing we bought some dressing that you can also marinade with. . Just had the best tasting fajitas ever!! Great customer service very hands on and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely go here instead of anywhere else. read more

This is my go-to spot for anything I need for the lawn. Well, my brother's lawn, I help him take care of it and everything we need is always here and for a good cost. Get my keys made when I change my door locks from crazy stalker-women, get tools for when i need to fix my panic room doors in my apartment-mansion, stuff like that. Oh, & if you need animal feed for when you're hosting a holiday dinner party this is your place! More than that, if there's anything i need i can get it here, for lower than competitor prices and then some. Catch em' on a good day & you can get a free bag of popcorn here. Most of their heavy duty drills and saws are sold by a knowledgeable staff. No rip-offs or time wasting talks here, they get to the point while helping you get from point A to point Z. read more

Great little neighborhood store, near 1960 on Jones. Voted Cypress Business of the Year. I'm always asked by more than one person if I need help and the workers seem happy to do so. They have a lot of seasonal items and gifts here too. Candles, bric a brac, Poo-Pourri, BBQ items including sauce and smoking wood chips, wellies, flip-flops....there's something here for everyone, and there is a little bit of everything here. Strange collection of sodas and beer towards the front of the store which give the place and old timey feel. There's a post office in the back. Huzzah! read more

Went to this location to get a chip key made for my vehicle. Walked in and proceeded to go to the key counter. They had to call for a customer service rep to come to the counter to assist me in cutting and programming my chip key. CSR came shortly after and the process started. Process took less than fifteen minutes and the chip key worked in my vehicle without a problem. In addition, the chip key was ten dollars cheaper than at the Ace hardware I was sent from. All in all a very good and easy experience at this particular ace hardware location. read more

Purchased online for curbside. I read and followed THEIR directions. Called the number given....sat on hold with no one returning to the call. Walked in with phone in hand, still on hold. Three males standing behind counter talking about how nice looking a truck was parked outside. Even after me telling them I was there for CURBSIDE, giving them my name to get the order, one still walks out the store in front of me because he "wanted pics of the truck before it left". He did not help the customer, but went out and took pics. I waited in the truck and still no one came out. Went back in, again, to be told I need to sign a paper first....no, curbside is you bring the paper out and the order. TSC rocks at curbside! read more

I can now see why everyone I work with wants to go by Ace while they're on the clock to pick up stuff for work. This place is a magical fairy land compared to Home Depot. They have everything. It's like if you are a woman you'll probably walk to the left while your husband walks to the right (all the food and jewelry and clothes and home decor are on the left.) all the sexist assumptions aside I was wowed by everything they have in there. They are also super helpful and if you're lost in the store you can just show someone what you need and they will help you find it. Now that's service. It's even a Pokemon gym. Next time we need something from ace my volunteering hand is going in the air. I like that place. This is a wonderful hardware store with everything a person could need and even more that they don't need (at the time). They have a gift section with many items that are sold at Hallmark, they have a whole big barbecue section and even a fudge counter and and get this. . . they even have a post office. The staff is super helpful and as I was browsing the garden section, I was asked at least 3 times if I needed help or a basket to hold the things I had picked up. The area with cleansers is extensive and I was able to find a long lost product I'd been searching for but could no longer find. It's really nice to have this store in the area. read more

I have shopped at this ace for years and have always used coupons when purchasing dog food. My last experience at this Cypress Ace I was told that they don't accept coupons on dog food. I pointed out that the coupon has no exclusions for dog food. The cashier pointed to a sign on the counter that said " coupon exclusions" and to the one that said " Horse Feed" . After pointing out that Horse feed is not dog food she said that the owners will not except the coupon on dog food. After walking out without my purchase I was able to find a new store called " Pet Supply unlimited" where they price match! So what turned out to be bad customer service at Ace ended up great at a new store. Cypress Ace has lost my business. read more

I took a propane tank here for a refill because they had a coupon in this last weeks mailer. The guy filled the tank without any issue until he was done when he told me that the tank's certification had expired and that I could buy a new tank for $50. This must have worked in the past because he looked shocked when I said I want my tank back. Then he tried to sell me on a $25 tank. Needless to say I will not be returning to this Ace again. read more

This Cypress Ace is a great neighborhood hardware store, and my go to store to bring DIY projects to life. I always encounter great service, and get asked several times per visit if I need help. When I ask about hanging things on walls, painting furniture, etc they always know what I need to make it happen. I've returned several things hassle free, as well. Brought my mower for tuneup (no issues just looking for tuneup) at the end of the mowing season. They said it needed a carburetor and replaced it. When we got it back, it was hard to start, but we thought it would get better, if not surely ACE would fix as follow-up to their work. Instead it got worse, when the next mowing season started the mower took about 30 pulls to start. I took it back. Ace wanted to charge me all over again. Definitely do not take anything for repair unless you can immediate thoroughly test it. Working with corporate to resolve - the store not standing behind the work - store standing behind fine print (I had never seen or told anything) on very short warranty period (given two different answers on how long warranty is). Now the store has added a previously unknown diagnostic charge. Not trying to resolve, just trying to extract as much money as possible. read more

I'll admit I am already a big fan of hardware stores in general. My husband and I can walk around for hours looking at all the many projects that we could be doing and dreaming. That said this place is fantastic. True the ailes are a little small, so if you aren't going to pick up something big you don't want to try and take a basket, but other than that its fantastic. There are so many things in there, from Texas memorabilia, to water decorations for your lawn, they have wind chimes that are perfectly tuned and actually play different types of music. They have all the usual stuff like paint and tools of course. They will sharpen your knives or scissors or make you a key. I don't think there is any reason I wouldn't go, even if I just wanted a deal on spices for grilling meat. read more

This is a fantastic hardware store. Don't think of Lowes or Home Depot, think of a combination gift shop, chocolate store, feed store, and of course hardware store it has very unique items and a lot of staff members to help. No walking around trying to find someone to help. I was in there today and saw these really cool wind chimes that I've only ever seen one other place in New Braunfels.
