This is my go-to spot for unusual plumbing parts or advice. Yes, it's a small shop crammed with stuff, and they stay pretty busy, so be prepared to wait. But numerous times after foolishly wasting time at the HD or L big box stores I've gone to U-P-I, come away with a solution, and kicked myself for not just making the drive in the first place. As a bonus I've learned stuff just by listening to the transactions in front of me while I waited. Amazing selection of fittings, etc, not all of which is out on display so wait and ask. Came for a simple tool. No greeting or help, and there was a long line with only one person seemingly working. Store is a mess and so disorganized you can't find anything on your own so you have to ask for help. When I asked, the short Hispanic guy working didn't look at me and just said the tool was "in the back". No further instructions, and no way for me to find it. If you need anything related to plumbing, this place probably has it. I was in there earlier this week looking for a replacement valve cartridge for my shower. I was getting only super hot water from the shower, making it completely unusable. I brought the cartridge in, and the guy at the counter knew immediately what I needed. It was fast and easy. The downside is that I paid $66 for it here, and the same item was $40 online. I'm still giving them 4 stars because it was in-stock, the customer service was excellent, and without his help, I really wouldn't have known which cartridge to order anyway. Buyer beware! Caveat Emptor, they do not accept returns. I have been buying here for over 15 years, so it was only natural that I would buy my water heater here (despite the fact that it was $50 more than at Home Depot). When my plumber came to the house, he realized that the issue I had was not the water heater, but rather the water pressure. Since I didn't need it, I tried to return it to U-Plumb-It (within 2 hours of purchase). They, however, would not accept the return. This despite the fact that it was never installed nor connected to the power. The only issue was that my contractor had opened the box. Had I purchased it at Home Depot, Lowe's not only would it have been considerably cheaper, they would have gladly accepted a return. I will never go back here again not even for a $0.50 washer. read more

My recent experience at U-Pumb-It was terrible. After numerous promises, the part I needed was never supplied nor ordered. I support small business owners like U-Plumb-It whenever possible vs big box stores and have had good experiences in the past. Most recently, after waiting several minutes in line I spoke with the counter about my needs. The senior employee (owner?) was impatient, rude and vulgar, in spite of my patience in line. He even spoke badly about the junior staff saying they have no knowledge of the business and are just "go-fors". Other customers (professional plumbers) confirmed this behavior is not uncommon and even provided suggestions that the counter failed to offer. I continued to wait but I was impolitely ordered to leave the building and that someone else would assist the next day. I made 2 followup calls which were unsuccessful. I would not recommend anyone use this business. read more

The level of customer service I received has been unmatched by anyone anywhere ever since. I've pointed a few people their direction over the years and I'm glad to see they're still in business. Remembering the great experience I had with U-Plumb-It several years ago when we purchased a black kitchen sink and some faucets, etc., I called them on Tuesday to ask if they sold toilet tanks; the gentleman asked "what brand?", which I did not know...and told him I would call back once I got home. I called the next day (Wednesday) and spoke with the same gentleman, gave him the brand info (Crane) and provided the numbers found inside the tank. He then told me that he would have to "look it up" and would call me back. Thursday...no call. Friday...no call. No biggie, he probably got busy. Saturday morning...I decided to pay a visit and made the 5 mile drive, fully intending that if they could not sell me a toilet tank, then I would buy a complete toilet...and relieve my two teenagers of having to turn the water valve on and off every time they used the toilet! When I stated the reason for my visit, the clerk then asked "what is the bolt spread?" What??? Bolt spread??? This is a new twist. What is this, a game of "Gotcha???" Funny thing...I KNEW that it was 5-1/4" and told him! He then thrust his hands into the pocket of his hoodie, rocked back on his heels and, with no remorse or apology, told that he could not help me. Wow. Nice. I thanked him...and expressed my dismay that he didn't bother to ask that one important question during one of the TWO phone conversations that we had earlier in the week. Buy a whole toilet from him? I WOULD have...if he had not been such as jackass. I spent my money at Lowe's. Have a nice day, sir! read more

If I could rate U-Plumb-It with more than 5 stars, I would. I've been dealing with a leaking shower valve off and on for years. I would call my plumber, he would replace a gasket, and it wouldn't last. Because of the age of the valve, he said they don't make them anymore and he recommended a complete new shower which would require tearing out the wall behind the shower. I went to U-Plumb-It and they had a brand new valve that exactly matched my old one. The staff gave this novice some brief instructions on how it worked and I installed it in less than 10 minutes. No more leaks. U-Plumb-It has impressed a new customer and I will definitely recommend them to others and use their services again. read more

Though I was the only customer in the Montrose store and 3 people saw me waiting at the counter, it took a while to be waited on. The person who eventually 'assisted' me was rude - just plain rude. Instead of trying to fix what is broken, I am going to buy new and have a professional plumber install. They are usually fast and polite with the occasional snarkiness buts its usually so funny that you cant be offended. Might wanna consider a computer system to track your sales, special orders etc. Might be able to see that taking a return might be more valuable in the customer loyalty or being able to tell me when I could expect my special order instead of waiting for the right person that has the right notepad that has my info.
