This is the second time I have come in because the wheels on my long board were stiff from the salt and ice. The owner sells this magic potion that frees up my wheels as if the long board was just bought and broken in just right. The last time I came in he put it on free of charge and I came in today expecting some kind of charge and he did it for free again!!! My wife and I rented two road bikes for an extended vacation of cycling in the Midwest. We are both experienced cyclists and initially felt that we were in luck with a professional and friendly staff. We were wrong! Within the first 3 miles of riding the seat on one of the rental bikes began to slip. Despite multiple attempts to readjust and tighten the seat post, the issue persisted. When I checked in with the Cyclotron staff, I was told to bring it to a local bicycle shop for repair. The local shop was unable to correct the problem. They observed that the bike seemed to be well worn and beat up. I spent the remainder of our trip on a bike that was poorly maintained. Imagine an adult riding a BMX. When we returned the bikes, there were no attempts at an apology. A curt goodbye. Cyclotron has the appearance of a high-end shop, but looks can be deceiving. read more

This was the last straw for me Cycleton... I'll admit, I'm already not a huge fan of this shop but, when in a pinch, it's close to the house. Today, I'm on my way there to get a few last minute things I need to prepare for a weekend trip and I see a cyclist sitting on the side of the road with his phone out. I pull over to see if I can help and his tire...it's a failure like I've never seen. The tire is COMPLETELY cut IN HALF. Catastrophic failure, no fixing it, needs a new tire and he's TWENTY MILES from home. I tell him I'm actually on my way to a shop and will give him a lift. Throw his bike on the rack and off to Cycleton... We arrive and show the shop dude and, he too, has never seen a failure like this. The stranded cyclist says he needs a new tire. The stranded cyclist tells him what happened and the shop dude says...He can't get to it FOR A COUPLE DAYS!! FACE. PALM. I thought I'd be dropping the stranded cyclist off in the capable hands of a bike shop to get him going again so he can finish his ride. Nope. Instead, the stranded cyclist buys a new tubeless GP5000 tire and some sealant and I FIXED IT FOR HIM on the sidewalk in front of the shop. MAYYYYBE a 15-min process. I think it's ABSURD that this shop couldn't...WOULDN'T...help a dude who is standing there all sweaty in a full-kit in need of a mid-ride FLAT FIX. Still flabbergasted at the bike shopness of this bike shop. If only it were the first time I've gotten this vibe there. Absolutely terrible customer service. After having my bike for nearly 3 weeks for a 3-5 business day repair (even with 2 days shipping for other repairs each direction it would be 7-9 business days), I received a voicemail that my bike was ready to be picked up on Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. I was headed out of town, so I ignored it, planning on picking up the bike the following week. The voicemail failed to inform me they would be closed the entire following week; if it had I could have made arrangements for someone else to pick the bike up on Saturday. I'm not at all frustrated they closed for a week; I think it is great they give everyone a week vacation. When finally picking the bike up and letting the manager know I was unhappy with the customer service, he got defensive, and blamed my voicemail being full for the issue, failing to understand that I did receive the voicemail. I also expressed frustration that I had to drive to the shop the find that the shop was closed because there was no indication on their voicemail that the shop would be closed. His defense for this, is that "the phone doesn't work for s***". They did have a banner on their website, but the defensiveness about the phones and blaming my "full voicemail" showed a complete aversion to take any responsibility, or show any understanding for my frustration. When choosing a place to spend your money, you're essentially choosing a place for their customer service as there are dozens of shops in the metro area that all sell great bikes. Spend your money elsewhere. I like supporting individual shops, but I'd rather spend it at REI than this place- at least you know you get good customer service there. read more

My husband bought his bike there, and since it's our local bike shop he also goes there for tune ups and any upgrades he would like to make. The service he received today was horrible. He was there to set an appointment for a tune up and talk to someone about getting a different seat and the gentleman was so so rude. My husband left there saying the worker made him feel like his questions were dumb, and even judged his bike "what did you pay $300 for that bike?" He also said they didn't have time to make an appointment for his tune up, and just walked away. They may sell nice bikes, but if your looking for good customer service I'd go elsewhere. read more

Along the lines of some previous reviews, the customer service in here is pretty poor. I went in with my four-year-old to get a part to attach a bike trailer. The person that helped us out (Russell) was rude, in a strange way. He showed us the part, but when I mentioned that I had had a problem with a similar part he got pretty heated and raised his voice and said he had never heard of such a problem "in 10 years of working on bikes." The strange part was how frustrated he got after our relatively simple question. I left feeling confused by how the interaction could deteriorate so quickly, and of course also wary of going back. It sucks because I would really like to support a local business. I'll give them another try but if the next interaction is this volatile I will have to go somewhere else for a local bike shop. read more

Awesome service right away for what I needed. I walked in, asked for a tune up because the bike hadn't een ridden in over a year. The guy said it would be weeks out to book a full tune up but he could look at my bike real quick and make any necessary adjustments so it would be fine. About 5-10 minutes later he had adjusted the brakes and the gears, inflated and checked the tires, lubed the chain, and I was on my way! read more

"Bait and Switch." I called several bike shops in the area to get prices for a seasonal tune-up for my "department store" $150 bike, which has never been ridden on anything but these city roadways. Most places charged $60. I called Cycleton Denver and they quoted me $40 for a "basic tune-up." Cool. On a rainy Friday morning, I brought my bike in, the Cycleton tech looked it over and recommended the "standard tune-up." Which I assumed was what I was quoted on the phone. But noooo, the "standard tune-up" is $75. What I was quoted for $40 is for a, "Safety Check." What is that? Essentially nothing. When I told the tech that I was quoted $40 for a "basic tune-up," he said someone there evidently misquoted. (Not him, of course...) The tech told me that he did have some good news, that I would have my bike back the following day (Sat.), which would be great because several of us were planning a ride for Sun. He said that someone will call me when my bike was ready. They close at 7:00 PM. Having not heard from them all day Sat., I called at 6:30 asking if my bike was ready. "Why would your bike be ready? You just brought it in yesterday. We keep bikes for a minimum of 3 days for tune-ups." "Because I was told it would be ready today." "Oh, well, the tech who told you that is relatively new here. But, you can pick it up Monday. Have a nice weekend." (Thanks for your money, sucker.) Word of mouth can be the best advertising. And it can also be the worst... read more

I stopped in twice to this store. One time they were busy, the other time not so much. However, I would say that both times they were attentive to my needs. I was greeted both times, and the gentleman that helped me find a bike light on my second visit was polite, patient and willing to go a little further for the customer. I felt comfortable and ended up buying a light. A previous time I had stopped in to rent a bike due to rental pricing tags I had seen on multiple passes on bikes outside. However, when I inquired as to renting a bike inside, the prices were higher than I expected. I had to decline renting one. I thought the prices outside seemed reasonable, but the ones given verbally were not--to me at least. They had different pricing for the bikes they were actually renting (the clerk was dismissive of the bikes with the rental pricing tags on them.) I would just suggest having more affordable rental prices, as well as displaying them outside more visibly. I say that because nowhere did I see rental pricing tags for bikes they were interested in renting out. Maybe they aren't accustomed to cost conscious customers due to the neighborhood. I felt favorably about them though, and thus stopped by that second time to purchase my light. read more

On my bike ride the other day and notice my front fire was flat. So I made my way to the nearest bike shop. I had my flat repaired & purchased 2 sealant tubes. Service was great & staff was friendly. I also researched a bike rack and the fellow working with me was awesome. So I think I will purchase my rack at this location. Will update review later. read more

I recently checked out Stapleton's newest bike shop, Cycleton. It's a very nice shop with a thorough inventory of bikes, components, accessories, clothes and other cool bike swag. I went in because one of my road bike rims didn't survive a move, and they helped me pick out a nice new set, slapped tires on them and had me back on my bike in absolutely record time (although not before I ended up buying a bunch of other stuff that I didn't really need but couldn't keep my hands off of!). Nice mix of lower priced and very high end components and bikes to choose from which is awesome, especially since they are less than a mile from my house. Case in point: The $9,000 S-Works Mountain Bike they have on display......yummy! They are very helpful, and everyone working there was friendly with no attitude whatsoever. It felt like they just wanted to help me get out and ride. To that end, Mission Accomplished. I highly recommend them, especially if you live anywhere nearby. read more

Had a great first few experiences at Cycleton at the very beginning (see my review from years ago). The greatness waned over time, culminating in frustrations with trying to give them my business if they would price match (they, before recently, wouldn't do that for me). I can also understand the frustration expressed by previous reviewers about service. So I've been driving to a shop across town recently, which sucks. That seems to have changed. I gave them another chance. Jubal, the GM, worked with me to find the right thing recently and didn't make me drive across town to save a few bucks - he matched the price. He appreciated letting them "have a shot" at my business. More than saving a few dollars, it signaled to me that he cares about having the neighborhood's business. Having a neighborhood bike shop is good, having one that gives a crap is great. read more

The folx in the store were helpful, friendly and completed the repair within a few hours (they told me it would be 24 hours or less). Brought in 2 bikes for work. Had my Scott road bike in and they did a great job. It runs very smoothly now. Also brought in my around town cruiser for a tuneup. I thought the chain had stretched. The tech checked the chain and informed me that it had not, and he adjusted the bike for free so that the chain was tighter. He then recommended a seat adjustment, and did that for free also. Gotta love a bike shop that doesn't try to rake you over the coals every time you come in. Kudos for their organized rides too! read more

The staff evaluated the bikes and explained that they needed extensive work, parts are hard to come by with Covid and it would be more expensive than a new bike. I rented a bike from here and rode it about 38 miles. I should of brought my cycling shoes so I could of been clipped in. They will offer what ever pedal you need. I recommend bringing water with you and sunscreen since they don't offer it or sell it here. read more

I've tried to like Cycleton since they are my neighborhood bikeshop. I've purchased a FS mountain bike from them and have spent $100s in service and parts over the years. I am a decently experienced cyclist and have been in a lot of bikeshops, but these guys take the cake for being the worst. After a recent repair I had a bit of sticker shock when the price of labor time cost almost as much as a replacement of a 11speed shifter. They did not provide an estimate before doing the work. When I questioned the cost and lack of communication on an estimate before the work took place the staff become hostile and I was also told to take my bike somewhere else in the future. Gods be good, I'll never have to go in there again. read more

I've been a customer of Cycleton ever since they started. I've purchased bikes and biking equipment there over the years. I have always felt like they gave me a fair price and objective, sound biking advice. The thing that I really appreciate about them is their service. They are fast and thorough. I recently had a bike accident. I took my bike there to be evaluated for the insurance company. They looked up my past purchases and printed out copies of my receipts. They wrote up the evaluation of the bike so I could submit it to the insurance company. Then, even though they didn't have the new bike I wanted, they gave me suggestions of other stores where I might find that bike. They really are interested in helping their biking customers to be safe and happy in their biking. They are a neighborhood treasure. read more

Anatomy of a Cycleton Tune. Get tune-up and forget to order part that was reason for said tune-up. Then order wrong part but say bike would be OK to ride. Ride bike and get stranded due to now broken part (free-wheel hub). Do get loaner wheel, but then have to pay for new part. It wasn't a lot but after dropping $300 on tune, new tubes and tires the right thing to do is to comp the $17 for the hub. And no call from the owner! Experience is dripping with Fail-Sauce!
