Dean repairs and tunes up my bikes each year. I don't take the best care of my bikes. He's on time and always warns me before he makes any adjustment that might damage or cause an issue with a part that I damaged by not caring for the bike properly. I appreciate his communication and he assured me that he'd be easily able to replace the part if what he did damaged or broke it. Dean is the King of Bicycle Repair. He was awesome! He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive. He returned my call within about 20 minutes and scheduled me for a few days later. He gave me a heads up when he was on his way and got to the house when he said he would. He "set up shop" in my complex parking lot and gave my bike a tune-up and new pedals. This so-called bike mechanic is a nightmare to deal with. He'll take your money and not finish the job. He'll then come up with an excuse of not having cables or the right part. Dean is a master bicycle mechanic who insists on it being "right". I left him message, requesting info on assembling a trike. He called back within an hour and scheduled an appointment, the next day. He texted me that morning, letting me know he would be late and then arrived on time. He assembled my trike and used a couple of spare part in his inventory to make the trike better and charged me almost nothing for the parts. A great bike mechanic. A real good guy. That right there is about the best service you could ask for. I had 2 bikes that needed lots of love. He got them better than ever in less than 2 hours! Started with a Titanium frame and carbon fiber Sid world cup fork added colored wires, titanium colored cogs, skewers and bolts. He even found me titanium rims that are a soft pink, purple, and blue tint. He has upgraded parts for me on it multiple times. Hes always quick to respond, and fast on the job. I give Dean one star for showing up almost on time. Beyond that, his service was a disaster. We made an appointment for him to replace a spoke on the rear wheel ($15) and do a minor tune up ($30) - total $45, we agreed. He arrived in his car, (not the van as pictured) with a 5 gal. bucket of tools, and removed the rear wheel. He then took the wheel and went somewhere to true the wheel and returned about 45 minutes later and announced that he was going to have to charge me a lot more for replacing the spoke as the wheel was bent so badly and it took so long and was so difficult to make true. The charge for replacing the spoke was now $25, plus he had to replace the rim tape ($3) because the old tape was rotten (he threw it away at the other location). I disputed the allegation that the wheel was badly bent as he was able to spin it through the brake pads before removing it from the bike. Of course he maintained it was terribly out of line and insisted on the upcharge. At that point, I told him that his service was no longer required and that I'd put the bike back together. He put his tools back in his bucket and said that will be $33. Seems that, in addition to the upcharge, there was also a $5 fee for coming to my home - never before mentioned. I paid the $33, glad to get him gone before there were any more expenses. After he departed, I found that he had stolen the quick wheel release for the bike, so I could not put the bike together and will need to purchase another one. Kind of childish but shows his true colors. I have checked with the Colorado Secretary of State's office and Bicycle Medics is not licensed in the state. The corporation was dissolved in 2012. I now notice that the web page for Bicyclemedic.com is "unavailable". I would strongly suggest that doing business with Dean Romero would be a mistake and an unpleasant venture. read more

Found these guys on Craigslist, called on Monday night and they were here Tuesday. Dean did the tune ups on 2 bikes, and they were riding like new again, I should mention they are 15 year old bikes too. Way more reasonable than bike shops and they come right to you and do the work on the spot. I'll refer them too everybody I know! read more
