I was riding my mum's bike and needed to adjust the seat height very badly. I stumbled upon this store and the lady in there helped me to get my seat higher. She also gave me advice on how to lock the seat. Very nice and friendly. Came in the next day to get a helmet and a chain lock. Great service read more

Not sure what happened 4-8 years ago, but I have never had any issues. I do bike maintenance by myself so I mainly purchased stuff from them. One thing, nothing to do with this store, but latest bike brakes with discs are more than annoying to maintain. read more

My experience with Cyclemania Danforth was beyond disappointing. I brought in my e-bike in to have the brakes tightened and checked, as I was beginning a new job in a few weeks and intended to ride to work. The service itself was quick (about an hour) during a weekday afternoon. Worker didn't take down any information when I left my bike, and I just claimed it from the pile when I returned. My left brake was upon first inspection was tight, but the right side wasn't considerably tighter than how it came in. Despite requesting they inspect the brakes for issues, I wasn't told anything about my bike's condition. The work cost me approximately $60. On the third day of use riding to work, one half of the front brake system fell off and was lost to traffic. On the ride home, somehow despite not using the front brakes anymore, the other half of the front brakes were lost as well. Other than not being the tightest I hadn't had any issues with my brakes prior to taking them in for service, and coincidentally only 3 uses after getting my brakes supposedly tightened and CHECKED do they happen to fall apart completely. I thought I was paying for experts who could ensure this type of situation doesn't happen specifically. In my mind, either the pads were old and needed replacing, which should have come up when I was PAYING to have them checked, or the brakes were fine otherwise and it's the job the shop did that caused their failure. Either way, I'm unhappy with the results. I contacted the shop via email to explain the situation to see if there was anything to be done. Their reply verbatim was "Tighten and check doesn't guarantee that 3 weeks later your heavy e bike brakes will be still good . You bring bike and get inspected and we tell you what to do and cost of fixing". After already having paid for them to "inspect" my brakes, and only having used it less than 3 times, they somehow thought I'd give them more money. They not only refused to take responsibility for the poor quality of work done on the bike, but they also acted condescendingly towards me, as if I was at fault they didn't put on the brakes correctly or adequately inspect the condition of the brake system when instructed. I was disappointed by their lack of accountability and poor customer service. I had no choice but to take my bike to a different bike shop to fix the issue. At Cycle Solutions on Parliament, not only were the missing brake pads replaced, but they were also properly tightened (both sides!) all for a much cheaper price. Other than not telling me when I made the appointment I couldn't leave my bike battery in the shop (needing me to return home to get the key to remove it), The staff at this new bike shop was friendly and knowledgeable and even took down my information when I left my bike as if they were a legitimate business unlike some competitors. In comparison, Cyclemania's staff seemed careless about the safety of their customers. The experience really made me question the quality of the work they do. It was quite clear that they place profit over customer safety. I would strongly caution anyone against doing any business with them as they clearly are unable to provide the quality service that is required in the cycling industry. read more

Cyclemania 281 Danforth Ave, Toronto Warning !! If there are consistent, never ending 1 star ratings about any business ...buyer beware ! I've been supporting Cyclemania for many years. They're 3 blocks from my house. Service and price have always been acceptable but not great ...just very convenient. I have tolerated the rude, bullying customer service before but today I experienced it on a whole new level. I'm not sure what's going on here, but these guys are clearly not interested in promoting a healthy , successful business. I took my bike in for a flat tire. Repair posted on their website is $25. The only guy there at the time says $30 and it will be ready in an hr. I responded , it says $25 on your website. He walks it back immediately and says ok $25 is fine , then states Its supposed to be $30 by itself and $25 if it's part of a tuneup. It doesn't state this fine print anywhere on their website. I go back to pick up my bike and there are now three guys working there. I'm told cost is $30. My response again, is, it says $25 on your website. A different guy (who I know because he's worked there for many years) goes from polite to irate and says it's $30 unless its part of a tuneup package. He then states a dramatic increase in costs is the reason and the website hasn't been updated . Then a third guy jumps in the mix and barks , they have the right to change anything whenever they want AND tells me if I could fix it my self I would , so just be thankful!! The guy who initially agreed to the $25 is working on a bike and when the second guy confronts him as to whether he agreed to the $25 fee , he's clearly intimidated and starts mumbling incoherently. To be clear, I am totally capable of fixing it myself. I chose to bring it to them because it's more convenient, and . I believe its important to support local business especially during these trying times. This is not about the extra $5. I would have been happy to pay it if they hadn't been such aholes. This bizarre behavior is nothing new . I'm making a change. I'll go somewhere else , less convenient and I'll go out of my way to let people know to avoid this business. read more

I had my bike fixed there so many times (mostly flat tires) and always feel comfortable going there. I've never had a bad customer service experience there. read more

Just picked up my bike which was being repaired and WILL NOT be bringing my bike back to this store. Went in with a flat tire and spoke with the mechanic about some other potential repairs. After charging me 70 dollars for a new tire, 20 dollars for new break pads, 25 dollars for new break cables and 15 dollars for new grips, they also charged an additional 45 dollars for a tune up. Since I have a 1-speed bike with no gears, i asked what the tune-up entailed, and was assured it had to do with alignment, and greasing of parts, chain etc. After picking up my bike it was certainly not cleaned, no grease had been applied to the chain, and it was in the same condition i left it in. I had also asked for the mechanic to try to help lower my seat which was stuck and they had not done this either. The 45 dollar tune-up charge, looks like nothing more than a mark-up with no value added at all. I called the store to let them know and they told me to bring it back in and they would grease up my chain for me. Isn't that what I was paying you for in the first place? read more

So many choices for bikes, it's almost dizzying to think about! I had no clue bike shopping could be so extensive! And expensive! Well it is! From road bikes, dirt bikes, mountain bikes and whatever else there is, the choices are overwhelming. Cyclemania is a great place to go if you're looking for a bike. The staff here knows bikes and they can answer any and all questions. Not really digging the manual labor of a bike, well they have the solution here. They actually have an extension that you can buy on your bike, that actually makes your bike an electric bike. hahahah talk about weird.. just imagine seeing someone on the street on a seemingly normal bike, yet they are not pedaling. Wow. TERRIBLE, so abysmally BAD, I don't even know where to begin. Let's start with hostile, pre-occupied staff who see you, but don't acknowledge you, then don't even try to hide the fact they aren't interested in answering questions. Wouldn't let me test drive a bike -- and then told me I couldn't bring it back if I didn't work well for me. Seemed to make up prices on the spot as the cost of a tune up changed in amount twice during a conversation. I'd encourage everyone to go somewhere that actually deserves your money. Good bike shop. I biked by before their opening hours & this burly guy (owner?) had already opened the store & was running out to lock his bike. He took a look at my bike & said he could repair it by the end of the day. I showed up 15 minutes before closing and it was a charming madhouse. One customer before me waiting for her repaired bike, three customers dropping in with questions, and Mr. Burly barking at a young sweet staffer (that part was less charming) while grabbing various bikes & repairing them in minutes in an incredibly crowded back tool room. The charming part? Three kids with tricked out bikes were eyeing bike parts on the wall and asking about prices, and clearly felt at home. A regular customer dropped by and Mr. Burly came out to talk with him and diagnose his bikes' latest mild malfunction as if they were sitting at a bar talking about their wives. The spirit of Mr. Burly infused the place: informal, brusque yet warm, deeply independent. The shop was still going strong when I left, a half-hour after closing time. read more

Cyclemania is small, stuffy and full of bicycles and parts. What it isn't full of is customer service. So I walk in in search of tires. One of the two staff there in the far back pointed me to the messy rack of bike tires, but that is as much acknowledgement to my presence as I will get. Other than that, they left me to my own device searching in vain while they stood in the back chatting amongst themselves. Not once did either men come up to me and offered any help, like perhaps assistance in finding the right sized tire for my bike. Ah fuck it, they probably didn't even know I left. I went to a couple of bike shops over the weekend looking to buy a new bike - it was like pulling teeth to get someone to help me. I had a basic idea of what I wanted, a flexible budget, a tonne of questions and I was looking for test rides. The difference in service between this bike shop and the others I visited was night and day. As soon as I walked in, someone immediately started to help me (key point - they have enough staff) and he was amazing. He setup 7 different bikes for me, was knowledgable about the differences in geometries, components and brands and didn't rush or upsell me. The good: - the BEST service I experienced by a significant margin - they chopped the bars down and swapped out the seat at no charge - free tuneups for 2 years - the most bikes that were built and ready to go in the shops I visited (all east of Yonge) - bike slightly cheaper here than list price/other stores - bike was already built so I took it home 30 mins after buying it (it only took them 30 mins to install my accessories, modify the bars and do a final tuneup) The bad: - limited brand selection IMO (but they have good brands so maybe that's ok... it's probably better for me not to be confused by too many choices) - at the top of an enormous hill (if you ride your bike there) - when it's busy I feel like I'm in everyone's way (speaks to the number of staff working) - not a super good selection of locks I will shop here exclusively (barring emergency items like a flat across town or something unavailable). The service made such a huge difference to me. I had 2 friends with me and they commented that they were also going to start shopping there because it was a completely different experience than at the other local shops and the service was very customer-centric and helpful. read more

Had my bike stolen last weekend so was currently in the market for a new bike. Heard that Cyclemania had a good deal on their SE Bikes. Stopped by early this afternoon and waited to get served. One of the reps asked if I had any questions and I asked to try out his SE Draft. He gave me an SE Lite instead, took my credit card (in case I would steal the bike) and let me take it out for a test spin. Wasn't too impressed with the bike, especially for it's price, but still wanted to try out the SE Draft to compare. Upon my return I asked him if I could try it out. He simply said "well it's pretty much the same bike, but has a coaster brake instead. It has less stopping power". He told me they'll have more in stock in my size at the end of the month. He then walked back to fixing the bike he was working on. I felt as though customer service could have been better. a) He didn't even let me try the bike. Even though I mentioned it was the one I wanted to try in the first place, and wanted to test out the coast brake. b) You certainly don't feel welcomed, or treated with any respect. c) He didn't even return my credit card to me! I had to ask his fellow employee to pass it over. I felt brushed off and as though I had wasted his time. I walked up the block to Broom Wagon Cyclery and was treated way better! He let me try out multiple bikes, gave his advice on sizings, and offered several discounts on accessories. I didn't buy a bike off him either, but it was simply due to not having the proper colour in stock. But when they do have it in, I'm going to bring my business there, and not cyclemania. My whole family has been coming to this local Danforth bike shop for decades. The owner still works on bikes himself and will always greet you with a warm smile and a strong handshake. They offer quality bikes and quality service. Whenever I have a small problem, they will most often just fix it on the spot in a few minutes and send me away without paying them. Whenever I have something to replace or if the fix in a bit more serious, they'll usually have it done in 30 minutes and at a very reasonable price. This is the one bike shop that I trust the most in Toronto and will always be the place I return to over and over. read more

Consumer Alert - This store sold my bike without my permission - but it was a "mistake" which I guess is supposed to make it okay. I bought a bike in-person the past weekend and the staff was friendly enough. I paid in full was told to that I'd get a call to pick it up on Monday when the bike was ready (accessories were being installed). When I didn't hear by Tuesday, I called the store and was told that the bike was subsequently sold to another person and that it is no longer available. read more

I was kinda on the fence about checking this place out because I heard a few bad things from people about their customer service, but I figured I'd check them out anyway. Maybe it was because I was direct and to the point, because I knew what I was doing, because I had a screaming fussy toddler in tow, or because I have boobs, but I was approached really quickly by the shop owner. I came in dragging my hubs because it was time to buy some bike helmets and he was sulking because he felt wearing one would ruin his rep of being a bad ass on his newly acquired hybrid with attached panniers (yes that's sarcasm). The owner let us all try on a variety of helmets until we found one that suited and fit us as well as let us check out the baby bike seats. We ended up picking up 3 helmets and a Copilot seat (cheapest on the Danforth by $40 including install by the way) and were out of there quickly with no fuss. Upon returning to the shop to have the seat installed, they asked me to come back an hour later - which I did, to discover that my bike hadn't been touched. The owner took one look at me and my tapping foot and installed it in about 10 minutes (why did you need an hour). To make up for it they also did a few adjustments that I had asked for without charging me. read more

Took my bike in to get a flat fixed. Girlfriend comes in a day or two later to pick up the bike. She comes home, tells me she realizes the kickstand is missing. Shit. Pain in the butt, so I return the next day (hey I got nothing better to do, right?) : "Hey my girlfriend realized the kickstand is missing." Very long pause, look of inconvenienced, unsmiling disgust from young dude who is busy fixing another bike. "Well maybe we can put another kickstand on the bike." Er, really? I relent. Bike is in my hands and in the store, dude says "Leave your bike and we'll get to it at the end of the day." Turns, returns to current repair. Um, no. First of all, this is what you say: "Dear sir, really sorry that your KICKSTAND IS MISSING. Let's find it!" You don't treat me and your mistake or theft (who knows, kids, who knows) as an annoyance. You have things ass backwards. YOU ripped my kickstand, whether through a mistake or intent. Either way, let's make this right pronto. Then you don't say "Hey, leave your bike and we'll fix it later." You fix it now, right now, ahead of all the work that is behind me, because hey I came in and paid BEFORE those other people you're working on now. This would seem to be common sense. Fuck it, could not be bothered, and will never go there again. Stuff happens, but the way they handled ensured I'm no longer a customer. read more

This shop deserves to get bumped to 5 stars. In the year since I wrote the last review I have come in a couple times with issues (I ride 70km a week or so and my bike takes alot of torture) and every time they have fixed it on the spot. Not only that, I am charged such a small amount, it turns out to be an incidental expense "Just make it $5." They are not out to rip you off at all. There is no BS. No hemming and hawing about what could be wrong, no upsells. They find a part in the back that works and slaps it on. Done. I will definitely not be going anywhere else. read more

Sometimes I am a douche! About 15 mins before closing on a late Sunday afternoon I decide to try one more bike shop and cab it to Cyclemania to checkout their selection. It wasn't bad, and quite frankly I was ready to buy the 2010 female frame Opus they had hanging in the window, sadly they had other plans. The bike needed to be built and they weren't sure if they had any more in stock. I found this to be ridiculous since they had bothered placing it in the window in the first place. The guy barely made eye contact with me when talking about the bike, in fact he was doing something at the register and had his back to me when he spoke. All I could make out was him saying to try them tomorrow and they might have a bike ready. I didn't go back... if they couldn't be bothered neither could I. read more

The place to go if you're in the area and even if you're not. They have the BEST prices I have seen, and they have a no BS-attitude policy. And by that, I really mean it-- other places sometimes SAY they are customer focused and don't have the typical "bikers' attitude" but this place really doesn't. Staff are super nice, to-the-point, and they like to serve you. It actually seems to make them happy when they get you up and running again. They have an ongoing $25 tune up special which is great! Also, I have had a number of quick-fixes I needed on the spot and they have always been courteous and done them. I left a competitor's bike store closer to me (no names mentioned) and tried CycleMania. I then gave the competitor's store another chance. I dropped off my bike at the competitor's store, walked out, and thought about it a bit. "I don't have to put up with that BS." I called CycleMania who said they'd do the job on the spot if I came in. I went right back in to the competitor's store, cancelled my order and got much better service at CM, on the spot. On the plus side, my bike broke down and I was in the area. Took it to them and they were able to fix it in 20 minutes for $20 which saved my weekend. On the down side, the first guy I talked to diagnosed the problem as requiring a $50 part which I would have had to try and install myself since I couldn't come back another day. Only when another staff member came out and looked at it did he recognize the problem was much less serious and easily addressed. read more

I have just spent my last dollar at the Danforth location of Cyclemania. I've been going there for 10 years for accessories, parts, tune-ups and repairs, but my recent visit changed everything. The first thing I was told was that my bike was too big for me, the seat was maladjusted, and that my plastic fenders were useless. I agree about the fenders, but the bike fits me perfectly. The tech wanted to move the seat forward so I'd be sitting upright, but I don't bike that way. It's not a commuter bike, but a speed demon burn-up-the-trails bike. I needed to replace my derailleur and chain, get a tune-up, and opted to buy a set of big fenders. They completed the work quickly, but installed fenders that cost $20 more than the ones I had been shown. The reason given was that the $55 fenders were junk. When I got home, I couldn't park my bike in its vertically mounted rack because the fenders were too large. It was obvious that that 2 or 2.5 inches would have to be removed to allow it to be stored properly. So I took it back today, and the tech told me he would do it. I expected him to do a neat and proper job, but he didn't measure how much he'd need to remove to solve the issue, and unevenly hacked off a good 5 inches - as much as possible. Worst of all, he left an extremely sharp edge PLUS two protrusions where he'd cut off the edge that I could have cut or stabbed myself on. He filed them off, but I'm thoroughly disappointed in the lack of care and consideration. I spent over $300 but that's the last. read more

Bad customer service and blatantly sexist towards female cyclists.... I went in looking to get recommendations and purchase a performance hybrid for daily commuting in the city. I got brushed off and redirected TWICE (two different staff) towards the pink/purple low seated bikes with straw baskets. While simultaneously watching the man who entered before me (who asked the same question as me) get a full description of the weight, terrain, speed, price etc of multiple bikes in the store. Once I called them out for not providing me with the same service as the other customer, did they actually listen to my questions. Really too bad. Cyclemania is the best bicycle repair store I've been to in my cycling career. Not that I'm super experienced, but I've been to enough places to make this statement. I really appreciate how the staff is very frank with what the problem is, they provided me with a diagnosis rather than trying to get me to just get a "tuneup". When I've had to get a quick fix done, the staff has been able to turn things around incredibly fast. I absolutely recommend Cyclemania, and based on my most recent experience they've officially become my annual tuneup spot. read more

This place has excellent prices on bikes for the customer who knows what he/she wants. When I lived in the area, I'd get tires there, and small repair jobs. Very fair pricing. The owner also knows how to build bikes,and will likely build you a bike of your choice using a frame far superior to the ones you'll find elsewhere at a similar price. Yes, they are very busy, so at times patience is required.And, remember, courtesy is a two- way street. read more

I had my recumbent tuned up this week, and it's as if it's a new bike (it's 14 years old). These guys brought a level of expertise, care and thoroughness I've never encountered before -- including from the downtown shop that sold it to me! Highly recommended. read more

Awful service - said three days - become over a month. Quoted $50 and I had to pay three times that yo get my bike. What a massive asshole.

I took my bike there because they claim they can give it back to you in two days from basic service, then I got a call that the bike was ready the next day, when I went to pick it up and it was not ready, the repairman quickly starts to fiddle with it while I am standing there waiting, 20 minutes after I am told the bike is ready and being charged $105 and when I ask what was done, I get told a general tune-up and actually get called out for being difficult because I asked for a proper receipt and a checklist of what exactly was part of the tune-up and I get a snarl and then another guy mentions he changed the front brake, so I am returned the bike and my front wheel is still out of alignment and new handlebar tape is required. Canada tire sells the front brake pads for $9.98 so that is what I essentially got for my money. As the old saying goes, "if it is too good to be true it probably is", please take your bike somewhere honest and sincere and where they are proud of their work and yes you will have to part with your bike for 2 weeks. read more

I don't recommand this shop. The owner is rude with the customers and speaks in an accusatory manner. I don't understand why they are selling bikes, they should only a repair shop, they direct their frustration onto the customers because they are overwhelmed by all the repair work. If you want to buy a new bike don't ask these guys. They have zero patient to handle new customers. read more

Went in for a tune up. They said it was going to be $40. Got a call later that day that they need to adjust the wheel for $10 more. By the time I went to pick up the bike, I was charged an additional $35 (only labor) on top the additional $10 I was told. All in I paid over $90 (incl taxes) for a bike tune up, with no parts included. I'm disappointed and frustrated that they didn't give me chance to even say yes/no about the add-on services. When asked about it, they just said it needed it. It is so annoying that they over charged, didn't ask, and just assumed this was ok. Never going back because this is what they think is good customer service. :( read more

Awesome shop. Came in with an issue on my trike post (the nut was stripped). The trike couldn't fit through the door, so Aiden came outside and worked me through the problem with a detailed and friendly explanation of what might have caused it and how to fix it. He then went in and got me a new nut and bolt for the post and affixed it for me. He did it for free, too! read more

I wanted my tube replaced with a valve longer than 42mm and the guy who was working in the store today did it within 30 mins for 28.25. Considering I had to wait the next day for tube replacements at other bicycle repair shops I am very happy with the service4 read more

I don't even know where to begin. I've been giving this place my business for years in spite of surly service and general rudeness from the guys who work there. Today was the absolute last straw. My husband who is the kindest gentlest soul went in there to inquire about a quick release for my bike. When he was on the phone with me from the shop telling me what the options were, the guy working there asks my husband "so do you want this or not?" My husband said no as he hadn't decided which item was best for our needs. The guy said to him "thanks for wasting my time. Please leave." That's it, Cyclemania. You've lost me. We've spend hundreds of dollars at your shop and this is how you treat us? Simply because we haven't made up our minds about what we will purchase? I guess the philosophy here is purchase something as soon as we snap our fingers or you get kicked out of the shop. We are kind people and just wanted to support a small business during this time of covid. Forget it. You're not worth our time or money. Then I ask if they carry Specialized bike and no i inly carry Canadian brand like you should only buy Canadian or don't buy respond. Cyclemania on the Danforth have consistently been helpful with fairly easy, same-day repairs compared to much of the other bike shops which have consistently told me to leave my bike for a day or two for the same job. I find them reasonably priced and very friendly. read more
