They are a bit dishonest in their sale pricing. I bought a Cannondale Trail 1 that was marked down from the MSRP price for a Cannondale trail 1 SL, but it turned out to be a Cannondale Trail 1 SE when I got it home. so I've effectively paid MSRP for the bike. The sales person while noting the sale sign told me there was absolutely no room to budge on price because it had a steep markdown. I would expect a price like that while buying a bike at a convenience location like Whistler, but not in a bike shop in the city. They did seem to have good customer service and I do like their 5 year tune up policy if that turns out to be an honest claim. read more

Went looking for a bike all over Toronto. Decided on one from Bike Depot (Bloor). From the moment I entered the store, everyone was incredibly helpful but no pushing (thank you Justin!). Showed me everything that might fit my requirements. I have had to return to get adjustments and accessories and the customer service remains above par! I really feel that they are my community bike team When a work order was overlooked, they were all very upset and went out of their way to make it right immediately (special shout out to Matthew!). Really, I am delighted by everyone at Bike Depot. It's nowhere close to where I live, but they are worth the ride. read more

Purchasing a new bike is a pretty big investment. While researching where to purchase a bike, I was most attracted to the five year free tune ups offered by them. I have purchased two Specialized bikes from Broadway Cycle, and have always been happy with my purchases. I once had an issue with my gears, and they were able to diagnose the issue, and fix it on the spot. read more

Had an emergency flat and had to push my bike a couple K's. 1 bike shop wouldn't service and 1 couldn't because it's electric. I was ready to lug it into the subway and asked if the Bike Depo could help. They said yes despite being incredibly busy. Quoted me a price and in the end stuck to it. Heavy on Covid precautions which I understand and appreciate. Was told initially 1 hour. Turned out to be 3.5hrs but beggars can't be choosers I was desperate. Broadway is often overlooked when compared to Sweet Pete's down the street. At Sweet Pete's you get the feeling that everyone leaves the store gets on their fixie and rides home to Kensington for Vegan Tofu burgers and joints. Broadway feels almost corporate in comparison (I don't think the patrons voted for Rob Ford or anything, but they probably own a car). Despite lacking the hipster vibe, there are three reasons that Broadway is a better bike store when it comes to things that matter: 1) Service - You get 5 years of service when you buy a new bike. That is huge savings over the long term. In addition, the service department doesn't seem as busy as Sweet Pete's. Sweet Pete's took over a week to tune-up my bike. Broadway took 2 days. 2) Selection - I think Specialized bikes are hands down my favourite bikes. Broadway has them. Sweet Pete's does not. 3) Staff - This is a tough one. I think the staff at Sweet Pete's are for the most part super friendly and knowledgeable, but the staff at Broadway are better when it comes to making sure I get what I need, asking if I have any questions and answering them. read more

I phoned in to inquire about the stock of an item. After being put on hold for a bit, I was told it was in stock; I asked to have it set aside and was given the OK. When I arrived at the store later that day, I was told that there was some sort of computer error and that the item was in fact out of stock. Mistakes happen and all, but the item was clearly never set aside; if incorrect information is given to a customer, that customer should be contacted and notified. I was there a few days beforehand with a friend; a different staff member seemed quite knowledgable and enthusiastic to talk about bikes. Overall I see that there's passion at the store, but as it stands, I doubt I'll come back. read more

Based on Christopher's review i decided to go to Broadway this time. I did not have the same experience as Christopher did. They were to replace my tires (one had disintegrated while I was replacing a tube!) and brake pads and do a tune up. I know you are never supposed to ask for a tune up but I did :( They were charging me for the tires ($32 each), the pads, installation fees. The tune up is $50. The total was to be $150. Erk. But the guy said, "We'll get your bike running like new," and I left happy and optimistic. They promised to have my bike ready on Friday morning (the next day). When I showed up at noon, it was not ready. They had not called to let me know. I had a billion errands to run so I was pretty irritated. The reason my bike was not ready was that they "did not realize how wide my wheel was and did not have the tires in stock." They were going to go and buy some tires. They called me at about 4 to tell me the bike was ready. I apologized fro being irritable earlier. The guy took $12 off the bill. He said he was reducing the cost of the tires because of the inconvenience but I think that they have used a different (cheaper?) tire than they had initially promised so that was probably a bit cheesy. The tires seem fine but I could have installed them myself. The brakes work okay in terms of stopping the bike but the front one bucks against the wheel rim in a rather alarming way and they sometimes do not release properly and I have to lean down and unjam them from the rim. I am not sure what they did in terms of a tune up. My bike still has all the weird creaks it had before and my gears do not shift well. I cannot shift onto the smallest chain ring at all. And for some reason that I cannot figure out, I always feel as though I am cycling through sand - even when going downhill! I will not be going back but you may draw your own conclusions. read more

I am quite surprised by the 3 star rating of the Bloor Street store. My experience from day one has been exceptional!!! My sales rep name is Luciano and he has been and continues to be amazing. No they do not answer the phone but I have not found one bike store that does during the last few months. My emails have always been returned promptly, this doesn't mean overnight but certainly within 24 hours. They are busy busy busy, like every other bike shop. Between the beginning of February when I started searching for a small frame bike this was one of two bike stores of at least 30 I called that was interested in helping me. Many just laughed, said good luck or were rude. I changed my mind 3 times on my bike and Luciano hung in there helping me decide the best ride for me. Then they helped me fit the bike perfectly. Between Luciano and the Service manager they ensured I got an amazing bike that fits me perfectly and before I left the store my iPhone was connected to my bike and everything worked. It must of been painful for them at times but they were so patient and helpful. Yes the bikes and equipment is expensive, but they are at all the bike shops, trust me I did my research ... I had time during COVID to do this. My summary, this is an excellent store, they absolutely look after you, they are doing their best given the demand and conditions they must work under. A big shout out to Luciano and the service manager, because of them I smile most days because I can climb on my bike and ride! By the way I recommended them to my son and they helped him out even though he bought somewhere else, that bike store wouldn't help. He intends to buy a new ride and he will buy from Bike Depot Bloor! read more

How disappointing! I bought a bike from the store and was promised it would be in for Tuesday of last week, I mentioned I was going away until the following week and received a call FIVE days after the bike was supposed to arrive being told it was not in. After a back and forth with the sales guy he offered to lend me his wife's bike!?! No thanks, I am training for the Ride To Conquer Cancer and I want MY bike to train on - you know - THE ONE I PAID FOR IN FULL TWO WEEKS AGO. I won't even take my bike in to be tuned up by them even though I am entitled to several years of free service because I don't want them getting another penny from me. Went in to purchase a part after biking around the city looking for apartments. First guy that approached me was nice, but he sent me someone to work with and she was soooo miserable. Not interested in helping at all. When she went to install the part she said to her co worker "can you do this I don't feel like it" and he replied with "no I don't feel like it either", right in front of me and I was one of maybe only two people in the shop. In hindsight I should have replied, "okay I'll take it elsewhere." But no, instead after I paid I actually said thanks to her and then got the silent treatment in return. I'm actually surprised that this place has such low ratings, hoping my 5 star off-sets it, even if only a little. My husband and I bought our bikes there only last week. I was floored when we found out they offer unlimited tune-ups for 5 years (five years!) and must admit that I found their pricing much more competitive than the other 6 stores we had gone to (while doing our research). I've been in twice - once in the spring looking for panier - the selection here was small and dull. I went back today having decided to replace my panier with a basket - yet again the selection was small and dull. And the bag/basket section is tucked away at the very back of the store, impossible to spot unless you walk the bike gauntlet. Not particularly user friendly. On the plus side, during today's visit a very friendly employee made sure we were being looked after and let us know where to find him should we need anything. No attitude in this place at all. Seems like a fine little bike shop, but never seems to have what I want. Sadly, with Sweet Pete's only a few doors down, that probably means this will never be my first choice. read more

So I went to Sweet Pete's to replace my bike wheel but they were out of the part and told me to go to broadway. That was a mistake. Pete's said they could do it in about 40 min. When I walked into Broadway I was the only customer and they never even acknowledged me. When they finally decided they should maybe do their job, I was helped by some guy who seemed pained to do this for me, he told me he could have it done in 5 days! I told him I'd appreciate if it was sooner rather than later and he suddenly could get it done for the next day. They did a good job on installing the wheel and fixing my back break but later that night I went to ride my bike and my back light was missing. I am 90% sure they took it off when I brought it in for repairs. Needless to say, I should have just bought the wheel from them and took it I Sweet Pete's, whose staff are much more friendly, efficient and accommodating. read more

Good selection of bikes if you like Specialized, customer service is not good since Covid Pandemic. Staff won't answer the phone and take a long time to return emails . Purchased a new bike in June and they now tell me the bottom bracket needs to be replaced for $ 100 and was told that the bike shop or Specialized guaranteed replacement or repair if parts even though the bike was bought new just 4 months ago! Buyers beware! Will never do business with them again, there I are a lot if great shops in Toronto who will welcome my business. read more

I purchased my first ever road bike here after wanting to get into the sport a little more. I was taken through the many options according to my price range and received a fitting as well once my bike was order came in. The staff at Broadway are a great group of guys and I always look forward to going in and having a little chat with them when getting little adjustments done on my bike. They show a great deal of knowledge and passion for the sport.. As they once said to me, there is no such thing as a stupid question so new guys to the sport like myself and others will feel very welcomed here. I am also surprised about the reviews for Broadway and wanted to share my experience for the past year so that others will come in to purchase there bike and continue to have it maintained and fixed up if need be at their service shop. It should also be noted that when your purchase a road bike here you get 5 years of free bike service, something I thought was awesome.. After checking their website for a particular helmet I was looking for, and having it indicate that it was in stock at the Toronto location, I went to pick it up. After arriving in the store, I had to wait for service, only to be told that they didn't have it in stock, and that I should check another location. I recently made an online purchase for $500 pair of road shoes. When I received them I noticed that they had been previously tried on. Upon trying the shoe that someone wore, there was a defect and were unwearable. I contracted the manager Mathew and he advised me that I would have to front the shipping charge, time and inconvenience to deal with the issue. This shows that this company does not care about the customer and I will not recommend this store to any of my riding group and another rider that asks for my opinion where to purchase gear. Really disappointed that the manager did not offer to rectify the issue and just passed the buck onto the customer and basically saying buyer beware. read more

I wandered around the store looking at the merchandise for over 15 minutes and none of the salespeople approached me - not even to say hello. None of them were with another customer. Just had my bike tuned up at the Bike Depot. My bike looks fantastic and feels brand new. I've been going to this location for years as a happy customer for a reason, it's the staff. The Bike Depot staff are always friendly, attentive and helpful and do a great job fixing up and being honest with you when suggesting weather or not a particular type of tune up or soup up is needed. It is also reasonably priced and they have never attempted to talk me into or charge me for something I really didn't need. Keep up the good work! Great stuff! read more

My girlfriend went in today with over $600 in hand excited to buy a new bike Staff was incredibly pretentious, treated her terribly (because she wasn't a pro rider or super-courier?).. Evidently, do not go here unless you are a cycling pro who can throw around bike lingo just to get in the door, and probably better if you have one of those titled-brim bicycle hats, too. When she came home, I asked her how it went, and, thank goodness Sweet Pete's was down the street because it was there, she told me, that staff actually helped her out, answered her questions, and got her fitted for a bike. Store might have decent merchandise, but the sales staff should crawl back under the hipster rock from which they emerged. You're selling bicycles, yo, not spaceships. Get off your rocket and remember that bikes are for meant for everyone to ride, not just white twenty-year old from the suburbs with beards, hats, and attitudes. I went here to get some lights and a helmet and also to replace a flat tire. I don't know much about bikes and I hate how a lot of bike stores in Toronto will make you feel like a complete idiot for not knowing everything there is to know about bicycles. Anyway, I told them upfront I didn't know much and when it came to fixing me tire, they completely over-charged me. They said it needed some kind of tape put on it which would make it cost more. I said sure. But when it came time to pay the bill the tire ended up costing over $25. When I spoke with some friends after who had been to other places, they told me I paid way too much. The actual products are nice enough, but I wouldn't suggest going here to get your bike fixed. Rip off. read more

Their service was AMAZING. Long story short, my friend(professional triathlete) broke his bike during the competition in Cuba. Unfortunately, his mechanic was not with him this time and he asked me to buy bike parts and brought it to him. I went to this shop without any knowledge about triathlon bicycle. They explained me everything I need and helped me a lot to chose the parts. Fortunately, my friend could make a time to visit this shop by himself. When he decided to buy new one, they prepared his new bicycle quickly and also helped to pack my friends' broken bike. They made us easier to prepare for the next competition. Simply the best bike shop in town. A few years ago before searching for a hybrid for Toronto's busy streets, I did my research. I checked out reviews for all the major (and many minor) shops in town, and visited a dozen locations across the downtown area. I had the best experience with the staff at Broadway Cycle. They were super friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and never pushy. They helped when it was obvious I needed and wanted it, and let me browse when I didn't. When I was ready for my choices, they were all great about providing lots of advice. I was looking for something in the $450 - $550 range, XL size and with just the right feel. Broadway was the only shop that had a wide range of bikes that fit the bill perfectly. Since buying that first Specialized two years ago, I've since bought two more bikes from them :) They offer free tune-ups anytime, and in fact encourage you to visit as often as you'd like in order to have the bikes tuned properly. I definitely take advantage of that service. And they are really good about doing odd jobs for you without asking for money. For example, I needed various adjustments done on a bike that I didn't even BUY from them, and one of their technicians still helped me out and spent 20 minutes on it. He also gave me some great tips on winterizing it that wouldn't cost me a dime. Fantastic :) I highly recommend this store to all my friends, and I'm hopeful that the owners know just how good their customers have it with this team. I wouldn't go anywhere else. June 2011 bought $750 bike they built out of factory box, and had to return five times before one of the sales guys actually took it round the block and came back confirming what I'd said all along - back wheel not aligned, brakes not toed, saddle positioned for a male not female, gears slipped way too often which was the most serious complaint. They kept it to fix - again ! Needed a new cone and had to wait for delivery from Specialized. Installed, and all seemed good, and now over two months later - September 2011. July 2012 returned for my first of five year free tune ups and was told I needed a new chain, a new cone, back wheel out of true, and how much it was going to cost me to fix. I explained this bike is less than a year old and cone already replaced once - how can there be all these issues ? Well, if I didn't have written proof of what happened then what can they do ? Well, I don't recall too many stores putting in writing that they'd totally f..kd up and detail what had to be fixed ! So the free tune up...yep, oil chain, check gears. Duh, I do that and more - it's called maintenance and don't see how they can call this free service a service. It is purely a money grab to get you back in for expensive fixes, and nothing more. When looking to buy a new bike I read reviews and did see some complaints on these guys, but it was close, convenient, and felt how bad could it be ? AAHHHH...I am now one of those complaints and my experience sounds horrifyingly similar to the ones I read about ! Definately stay away from these bozos and I for one am telling everyone about my experience.. Feel totally ripped off, duped, and in the end there is no protection/recourse for this store and so they get away with it..time and time again.... read more

They were great when answering my questions and if they thought I was a noob, they didn't make me feel like I was one. I lived in Richmond Hill for 15 years and was always well served by Bike Depot. Recently, I moved to Toronto and stumbled into Broadway Cycle by luck for an annoying bike problem. A friendly young attendant resolved my issue in less than a minute and did not accept any payment. It was only after the visit that I found out that the two stores are partners. Just like most cyclists, I have had many less pleasant experiences at other stores. I strongly recommend both Bike Depot and Broadway Cycle! read more

bought some $150 panniers for my girlfriend. But they didn't work out so I went to return them within 5 days with my original receipt. They said "we don't accept returns. Store credit only". I said "WHAT?" Nobody ever told me that. Although it is stated at the bottom of the receipt, who ever reads their receipts other than the total. Besides once I get my receipt and get the chance to read it, I'VE LREADY BOUGHT IT! Total B.S. I doubt I'll willingly go back there for anything. It's pricey anyways. Two thumbs down. read more

The friendly clerk pulled out a bucket of caps and gave me two for free without purchasing anything else. I'm a local who wants to support local business, so have bought quite a few things from Broadway Cycle before. The customer service here is crap and after my latest interaction, I will never go there again. I went in to buy a new rear wheel (rim and hubs) for my bike. First, approaching the parts desk with the mechanics behind the desk, working on the bikes, nobody acknowledges you for 5 minutes. I see you're working on bikes, that's fine and I don't expect help right away, but at least acknowledge your customers. I eventually bought a 'custom hand built' rim from them and a new tube just in case. I tried it with the old and new tube and both popped in the same place - it was a fault in the 'custom hand built' rim that a spoke hole was jagged. I would expect a custom hand built rim to at least be inspected for details like this, or at least to have rim tape on them. As somebody who doesn't work on bikes all day, I did not think of putting on rim tape. I called in about this and the guy said "we usually recommend installing rim tape, and we assume people have it. It's just one of those things and we forgot to mention it. You can come in and buy rim tape for $3." No apologies, nothing. Great. Thanks. I buy an expensive enough "custom hand built" rim that pops 2 of my tires, and all I get is 'come in to our poor customer service store and buy some tape'. I will never come here again and will let as many people know not to as well.. its just one of those things. read more
