A few weeks ago, I was riding on Toronto's Waterfront Trail as I often do, when I got a flat. Always a drag but I had my tool kit and spare tube so the change was quick. Unfortunately my Co2 inflator malfunctioned: I had a repaired tire but no air. A quick online search showed that Dream Cyclery was just a few blocks away. I knew as a reputable shop that they would have air available for those who need it in a pinch. And yes, as I arrived, there was the air hose as I had hoped. Noticing it was only Schraeder-ready I went into the shop to borrow an adapter and say thanks for the rescue. No thanks needed. Just 5 bucks. That's right, any cyclist with Presta valves must pay for the tiny brass adapter in order to use the "free air." The staffer seemed embarrassed to be charging me $5 for a piece that costs no more than a nickel. With the next nearest bike shop a significant walk away, I had no other choice. How chintzy is that! It wouldn't be so obnoxious if they were charging a dollar to cover the cost of providing them, or asking for a donation to a favourite charity (Cycle Toronto?) but this feels likes mean-spirited gouging. Looks like a nice shop. Sorry I will not be visiting again. read more

I would give 0 if possible. Horrible Service, disgusting attitude from the "Owner". Thank goodness for Gary who actually helped me with my brake problem. We took our bikes in for service and spent over $400 in accessories. We checked the bikes brakes, ride, etc before we brought them in, everything was good, we just wanted a tune up. We picked up the bikes after the tune up and my brakes were screeching. They weren't when we brought the bikes in. I mentioned this when I brought the bike back to be looked at. The "owner" right away says its not my responsibility. I say well they weren't screeching when we brought the bikes in for service. He was rude, ignorant, aggressive, and escalated to where he was yelling at me as I wouldn't back down - I have dealt with a lot of "little man insecurity syndrome" before. Thank goodness for one of his employees Gary who was kind and said no problem I will take a look and contact you. I picked the bike up later that day and it was fixed apparently something got on the brakes and he cleaned it up. The owner is a sad, small minded man who has banned us from going into his shop. As far as I am concerned its a favor and well blessed. Good riddance, there are too many other good cycle shops in the area with kind people. Avoid at all costs. read more

I needed a rare size tire for my Alinker walking bike. They not only had it in stock, but they sold it for half the price of amazon! They installed them in 40 minutes, and the total price with installation and tax was $50 less than I would have paid on amazon just for the tires! Great folks! read more

Great customer service. Very friendly and helpful. They've been around for just close to a year. They offer a free wash with bike tune up. Haven't tried that out yet but it sounds great! It's important to note that this isn't a shop to find various brands of bikes to go home with. As of now, he's clearly focused on tune-ups, bike/wheel building, and upgrades. That said, I had a phenomenal customer experience. I went in just expecting to find bikes and parts but in fact I found a stellar shop that specializes in custom bike and wheel building. Linus, the owner and bike repairer/builder was non-pretentious, extremely patient, and very helpful. We had spent a lot of time discussing ways in which I could upgrade my bike whereby he provided a variety of options in prices. I even test drove a few wheel sets to figure out which one worked out the best for me. On top of that, before getting a set of wheels from him, he took a look at my bike and adjusted it for a better ride. He also explained exactly what things he was tweaking on my bike, whereas I think a lot of other shops will just separate the repair section from the customer facing part of the store. As a nice bonus, he also carries a lot of good maintenance necessities like tires, degreasers, chain lube... it might not seem impressive but It's surprising how hard it was for me to find some specific things that were missing in other notable bike shops around Toronto. Furthermore, he also does home pickups/deliveries of bikes that need to be fixed (I have a car so I just opted to move my bike myself). For me, his business deserves five stars. He specializes in certain things that and does them really well. His personal service was absolutely top notch. read more

I was so excited when this neighbourhood finally got a bike shop. The shop is clean and has an easy to navigate layout. Shop is well-stocked with all the cycling things you need. All of their staff are kind and knowledgeable. I have mostly interacted with Greg and Linus on my last two bike purchase and they were always very helpful and accommodating. Service is quick as well. So after a horrible biking accident with my front wheel popping off and saying adios as it rolled into the street, I was pretty petrified since my head came one foot away from moving traffic. But I persevered and popped that wheel back on and uhh rolled the bike back home (who the hell would get back on that death trap). Luckily I was only a few blocks away. At my front door I was so scared and frustrated and didn't know what to do. At that time I didn't know this place existed and so in comes the phone to save the day! I thought why not? This place has good and reviews and it. Is. Close. Keyword: close. Ain't nobody got a car to transport it downtown. Met the owner, super nice, got the bike fixed, even nicer, price was on point, sweet baby Jesus it was nice. Turns out at some point the quick release on the front wheel just started to die. Thank god it died before I died. We changed it to a bolt and he only charged me for parts! The bike has been well and alive ever since, and it also hasn't tried to kill me either! One of these days when I have the moolah, I'm going to team up with him to have my dream bike built. read more

Had a tuneup on my bike done here over the weekend. They are upfront with the prices and what's included. Very knowledgable. Also had him replace my quick releases on seat and wheel and swap out a brake noodle thing. Both done for just the cost of the parts, which is good because I found the tuneup price high, but can't knock him for it as I knew it going in. Only been out for one ride so far but seems to be riding much better now. Nuff said. read more

Discovered this place a few months back and it's now my go-to bike shop. Yes, some services and parts may be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for - quality service and a knowledgeable staff. Linus has been an incredible help, always understanding and being able to fix the problems with my old bike. I walk out satisfied every time. Brought my bike in for a tune up/fix a couple of months ago and was surprised at how smooth my ride was after the fix. I had put it through quite a bit of abuse: from the brakes to the wheels, and even the bottom bracket. I was pretty scared about riding it around town prior to the service (given how even the chain snapped on me before) but I haven't encountered any issues since then. Highly recommend Dream Cyclery and would definitely be back if I need any more service! read more

I went into Dream Cyclery for just for a look around and see if they carried carbon wheels. What I got was more than I expected. I got to speak with Linus (owner/wheel builder), he was very helpful informing me about wheel building. He never tried to sell me anything and explain to be about the types of custom wheel he was building. He never tried to sell me anything he was just giving me the information and allowed me to make my own choices. I didn't end up buying, I did dropped off my bike for him to tune up. I came to Dream Cyclery looking to buy my first bike (previously I had only rented city bikes/borrowed from friends). Naturally, I had plenty of questions but Dan and Jordan were amazing and took the time to answer them all! Finally a bike store on Queens Quay! Place is pretty solid so far. Girlfriend brought her bike in for some pretty complex work on her disc brakes and the service staff there tried their hardest to fix it, she has had to go back in for a few minor things since and she was treated great both times. I think most the bike stores in the city right now are rammed for tune ups, etc (both MEC and Sweet Pete's have several weeks waiting period for tune-ups) so if you live on or near Queens Quay I'd definitely suggest bringing your bike into this place as they are new and will probably have a shorter turnaround time for bike work. I was shopping for a bike and have been to a handful of stores downtown to look at their floor models. I found this place because a friend of mine recommended it after she purchased one here earlier this summer. Linus, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable. AMAZING people and service here. Please read this story : I saw a man in a wheelchair this morning in a park on Queens Quay. When we spoke I learned that he was homeless and he was stuck, because one of the tires on his electric wheelchair was completely flat and he couldn't move at all. I found a bike store just a block away and went by, but it was before opening hours. I knocked anyway, and the person fortunately opened up. I explained the predicament this gentleman was in, and the amazing Dream Cyclery representative immediately agreed to help our new friend get his wheel pumped with air and patched, so that he was not stuck there with no help and no options. This gentleman had no legs, so our Dream Cyclery representative also accommodated lifting him from the chair to do the repair. I offered to pay for the repair, but they insisted on doing it free of charge! :-) Please support this store - they support people in need and the community they reside in !!! This is for their new location on Queens Quay. I went for a tuneup on a Saturday. They said they could get it back to me by Sunday or Monday, but I asked if I could get it back that day. They said yes by 5pm. They sent me a cute email to let me know it was ready. My bike rides like new again!! I was so happy with their service that I went back the next day for a basket! Customer Service Bad Dream I went in looking for a new inner tube for my bike, and this shop was around the corner so i went in. 10 minutes later i was at home installing the tire... after the tire was pumped to 40 psi (the mfg recommended psi for my tire is 60), i was about to re-attach it to the bike when part of the valve shot into the grass and the tire began to deflate... i brought the tube back to "dream cyclery" were the owner coldly told me that it was my fault and that tire valves don't malfunction. i went home and went at the valve of my old tube with a pair of pliers, attempting to replicate the damage on the valve. The valve in question is the presta type, and i was unable to remove the part of the valve the was faulty on the tire i had purchased. i proceeded to return to the shop with my old tube and pliers, and asked the owner to please demonstrate to me how it was possible to destroy one of these valves in the manner i had. He declined, instead handing me a new inner tube and then asking me TO NEVER COME BACK TO HIS SHOP AGAIN!!! all because he did not want to admit that he had sold me a faulty inner tube. i would like to clarify for the record that no fowl language was used by either party, no voices were raised. Now, i was buying an inner tube. the kind of product that most places don't even bat an eye at taking back if malfunctional. I don't have any experience with his high end custom products. i am sure the are great... if they work, but I can only imagine the kind of hell one might go through in trying to convince this arrogant man that one of his expensive custom products is defective. again, he could not find it conceivable that a $10 of the rack inner tube has a problem. The guy may or may not be talented, his parts may or may not be good, but he sure isn't good at customer service or building relationships with customers. He made me feel that because i wasn't there for fancy parts or a custom bike, i wasn't worth his time... he did not care whether the part he sold me worked, or whether i was satisfied with the experience in his shop.
