First time back since 2022 and the class did not disappoint!! I throughly enjoyed the ride, instructor and music! No pressure to push yourself, but you should anyway. The lights are dim and the seats are comfortable. Looking forward to coming back!

I discovered Cyclebar after purchasing a Groupon over the summer. It was 4 classes for maybe $30 (?) which seemed like a good deal to me! The classes themselves are pretty high energy and are a great time! I enjoyed myself so much that I went ahead and signed up for a membership after completing my Groupon! I have even brought a couple friends with me and we've had a great time! The only downside is I don't feel like there is a great sense of connection with the staff. When I ask, the instructors have always been helpful getting my bike set up. However after 8 visits I was told for the FIRST time there is garage parking. I had no clue and was paying to park on the street. I also don't really understand what the post-ride summary means and no one ever offered to walk me through it. I am a big fan of group fitness classes and although I enjoy Cyclebar I would appreciate more interaction with the staff. They are pretty consistent with sending messages encouraging you to join the studio, but I think walking through the ride after the first few visits would be helpful as well. As mentioned I have in fact joined Cyclebar so I do really enjoy it!! Cycling isn't for everyone, but it is a great workout and complements my personal workout routine. And if it's your first visit don't worry about the shoes, there are free rentals available!

Most people complain about Jim's because of two things: they want all the amenities like you're going to the Bellagio in Las Vegas and they wait on you hand and foot or you have a lot of sensitive people who just because they don't get what they want when they want an exactly how they want it, they complain. All the staff that work there are really cool, they open up really good hours which is 5:00 a.m. and if you can't get your butt into the gym at 5:00 a.m. whose fault is that? I wish they would close a little bit later maybe 11:00 or midnight but that's neither here nor there. It's a huge facility and they have great amenities. Basic but good enough. So in summation I've been in this gym for over a year and I like it a lot and I have no problems with it. So what the heck are you waiting for after reading this? GET UP AND GET IT DONE!

While trying to find the exit, I made an honest mistake and walked across a small green section. Instead of handling it calmly or professionally, multiple staff members were rude and condescending, and one staff member even made a threat about following me out. That felt intimidating, inappropriate, and made the environment feel unsafe and very uncomfortable. The overall staff interaction and vibes came across as unprofessional and very ghetto. I was looking at their personal training here, but after how I was treated, I would never choose to give this place my business. I'll just stick with my current trainer. On top of that, many of the machines appear very old, run-down, and unstable. A lot of the equipment looks outdated, which raises concerns about maintenance and overall care of the facility. Overall, this was a really disappointing and off-putting experience, especially for a first-time member.

SweatBox is intense, well-structured, and thoughtfully run. The music and variety keep me coming back. Providing ear plugs and cold eucalyptus towels are the many small touches that go a long way during this high-energy HIIT workout. Coach Gwen and Coach Mike are excellent instructors -- clear, motivating, and attentive to form. There are 3 other class studios and dozens of more fitness classes. I have enjoyed the yoga classes, especially Restorative and Deep Stretch. Chris also runs a great BodyPump class -- strong pacing and consistent energy. Overall, VIDA Ballston combines diverse programming with quality facilities and good service. Lots of free weights, benches, squat racks, machines, anything you could think of, it's there. A plethora of equipment and anything to get your body active and moving. The cardio area is awesome because of all the windows so you don't feel like you're just in a dark walled in space getting active. It's a nice touch for sure. I know they are currently renovating the space below the gym to accommodate for more equipment which I'm excited for. The gym is clean, the locker room is clean, always seeing the cleaning staff hard at work which keeps my mind at ease. The other nice thing is the parking garage is located right there too, so it's an easy walk to get into the gym and the cost is cheap for the hours I put in there. Since then, I have been working out at the Bailey's Crossroads gym, four or five times a week, and I wanted to put in a few good words for the staff. Just this week, I attended one of Meagan's Silver Sneakers aerobics classes (which I used to take from her at Merifield). Meagan is a NATIONAL TREASURE when it comes to aerobics for seniors, and scores of regulars have migrated over from Merrifield and other parts of the DMV to continue taking her classes. In fact, we had so many people show up that Orlando and Bryce had to bring in extra chairs, and I think we ran out of six and three pound weights. Please consult Orlando for any materials needed for Meagan's classes because the satisfied customer base is definitely already there. Speaking of Orlando I wanted to express what a great job he is doing as GM. I have a birth injury to my left arm/shoulder which limits my mobility and strength significantly. While I was working out, Orlando noticed my disability, and asked me about it. Per his offer, I accepted a free personal training workout from Brett, who came recommended as a trauma recovery expert, and chose to continue having twice weekly workouts/therapy under Brett's supervision. My strength and added mobility is improving. In short, Gold's Gym/Bailey's is a terrific place to work out and I am proud to be a member.

If it was not for the personal trainer my wife uses, there is a strong possibility we would change to another gym. There are a decent number of machines, free weight stations, etc., but since the location opened (I think 2 years now?) I have not seen one new piece of equipment. Suggestions to management appear to go unnoticed. As for the free weights, they are often scattered amongst all of the machines or stations, and no one seems to ever clean them up. As for managers, I have not seen a single one last more than a month. That is if you can even find one. Currently I have been trying to convert my membership to Silver Sneakers. The front desk personnel say I need to speak with a manager. They also say that they have not seen the current manager for days. Maybe that is why there has been no toilet paper in the restrooms, the hand sanitizers by the front doors have been empty, and I can't make the transition. I did go to the main webpage for DC Gold's Gyms to use the Member Services link (as instructed by someone I spoke with and by the AI operator). What I loved was clicking on it and only getting a Cancel Membership screen. Not a great way to keep your members when the services is to ask for them to cancel. In addition, there is no other way to contact the main owners of these metro gyms on the web page. Are they tired of hearing from their members? Again, other than the lack of management, investment in keeping this gym interesting with new or changed equipment, the people that do work here are great, especially folks like Jay at the front desk and John the personal trainer (the best!). Hopefully this will get the attention of the owners.

This YMCA is on a little back street and has its own parking which is rarely full, and is right in the heart of the Washington DC Metro Area - close to several Metro stops, actually, and within walking distance - rather than the Reston one which is way way out near Dulles Airport. I also love this location because it usually is really quiet so even though it's not my favourite and it is partially underground and a little stuffy, it is also very friendly and family oriented and everybody knows everybody, and it's one of the nicest little community gyms I've used. They just about have all of things I need although some of them are falling apart. What they don't have in equipment they make up for in character. There are some great people here both in terms of the employees and be patrons. They have the bikes I like, as well. Only 3 of them, and it's stuffy using them, but it's enough. I liked swim and bike because my kid would pass out asleep right after dinner. Sometimes during. The staff operates very well and are extremely responsive and attentive to concerns. MADabolic Arlington showed me. I cannot speak more highly of Julianne and the coaches at MADabolic Arlington. Julianne provided a clear, 20-week training plan that included MAD workouts, speed/hill workouts, long runs, and rest days. Their team helped me build full-body strength, prevent injuries, build mental discipline and resiliency (5:00 static effort, anyone?!), increase aerobic fitness, improve flexibility and range of motion, relieve stress, find value in rest/active recovery days, improve body composition (including bone density), and feel strong.
