I'm no techno-spin junkie, but I am definitely a fan of Cycle Scape. We've been to two classes so far and they have been awesome! Here's what you need to know if you're going to check them out: ***Arrive to class a little early: This is so you can go in, set up your bike and warm up a little. Not to mention that it's just good etiquette. ***They have what you need: There are little towels on every bike so unless you want a bigger towel, you're all set. If you have shoes, great, but if you don't, they have the toe holdies so you're fine with normal shoes. They also have extras like ear plugs, mandarins and hair ties if you're so inclined. And if you need a locker or a shower, they have that too! ***It's an all-over body workout: I was kind of surprised by how sore my arms were after my first class. This is because we did push ups on the bike and used a weighted bar for curls, presses etc. The bar is actually attached to your bike by the front wheel so if you need some more weight, you can always grab another bar off of a nearby bike and use two. ***It's an "experience": This isn't just a spin class...it's a whole experience. There are two screens that play music videos or simulate trail/road riding and this is all to music. It's a lot of stimulation which can be great and definitely makes the time go by fast. For me, all that stimulation can be a little overwhelming and I was getting a little motion sickness at some points, so if that happens to you, just close your eyes for a bit or look down/at the back of the person in front of you until it passes So why 4 stars and not 5? For me it really comes down to the price. At Cyclelab in Anaheim where I spin when I'm down south, it's $15/class. Like Cycle Scape they have packages where you can bring down your price but for someone like me that wants to do spinning to mix up my cardio and keep my body guessing, I just have to plan...$15/class. Here the class is pretty steep at $25/class and while the facilities are nice, the bikes aren't keeping/sending statistics on my speed etc and they aren't syncing with my heart monitor. I'm also not getting cycle shoes as part of that price, so I just feel like $25 is a lot. That being said, I still loved my time here (especially the Sunday morning class with Ann) and will definitely be back! read more

Not sure what all the hype is all about. I know a few of my friends love this place, so maybe I'm missing something here (and apologies to my friends if you're reading this), but my sister and I came for a ride a few weeks ago, and we really didn't enjoy it. First of all, the SCREENS. When I'm working out, I REALLY really really don't want to be surrounded by videos of half-naked teenagers raving at nightclubs for 45 minutes. Like, seriously?! How has no one in the reviews mentioned this?! Am I supposed to be motivated by girls in bikinis pouring alcohol all over themselves to cycle faster? 90% of the time, I felt like I was in a bad karaoke bar. And some of the images...I would have felt pretty uncomfortable to bring someone under 16. Also, pretty annoyed that shoes were not provided. The good: the instructor was friendly and energetic, but I didn't break a sweat...likely because the bikes didn't have any way to monitor my speed or resistance, but still. It wasn't intense enough for me. Back to Flywheel it is for me. read more

I've just completed my second class and love the classes! This is exactly what I was looking for. The instructors have been fun, energetic and motivating. They play great music (varies a bit by instructor) and I love that they incorporate weights in some of their classes (such a fun way to move around!) The owner, William, is really nice and he has a lot of pride in his studio! It's great to see a small business helping people meet their fitness goals. read more

I love this place! I haven't taken a cycling class for over three years and from the first time I stepped foot into this place, I loved it! Since then I've taken around 10 classes with all different instructors, and they are all awesome! The workouts are challenging and fun, the workout music is great, the bikes are new, and I love the big screens that I can watch to keep my mind off the workout and my tired legs! Like I said, the instructors are all amazing and are so helpful with adjusting your bike and offering great tips for good riding form! I always leave this place feeling energized and excited to return! read more

I'll start by saying, I'm an avid indoor and outdoor cyclist. I've cycled at Equinox in NYC and SF, Soul Cycle and flywheel. This was the worst cycling experience yet! Honestly, if you've been to soul cycle, you'll realize quickly they copied everything from them, from a similar logo, candles in the class, right down to the routine, yet failed miserably! First off, completely disorganized, no assigned bikes, which I guess was not so bad since only 10 people were in a Saturday morning class, but imagine if they were fully booked. Mostly, the instructor had a head set which didn't seem to work at all, he kept trying to scream but you couldn't hear anything that made any sense, which left for a room of people all doing different things- not to mention the class was easy, not a great workout. Then to my favorite part, the TVs with half naked girls drinking booze straight out of bottles, partying and probably doing drugs! Completely weird, distracting and annoying to have up while I'm trying to follow an instructor I can't even hear. read more

Just did my second class and extremely impressed. Challenging workouts can still be fun! William was especially helpful! I really appreciate that he went above and beyond my expectations to make sure I had a bike available in an almost sold out class. I just purchased my first package and will continue to be a member here as I really enjoyed everything about this place. Receptionists are nice and welcoming. You don't have to pay extra for shoes. They have water for purchase but also water filters if you have your own bottle. Room is super clean and ventilated. I was sweating because I was working out, not because I was overheated in a room with little ventilation. Both the instructors I have had great music and a fun vibe. And this all coming from a serious spin-hater! I have been converted! Good job, Cycle Scape! Keep this up! read more

This place was amazing!!! Five stars to the set up and layout! -Candles lit around the studio and main room. LED lights. Two large projection screens. -Modern design with upgraded bikes -Friendly staff. They help set you up on your bike and give you advice on posture etc. -Luxurious marble bathrooms and lockers with locks already embedded on the locker doors Favorite* They were running the video of Tomorrowland and other music festivals on the screen. Talk about party on a bike. The speakers were amazing. Nightclub quality **overall had a great workout and would come again read more

Awesome workout! My only other cycling experience has been Flywheel, and I have to admit - this place provided a much better experience. My instructor was William (Liam), and he was pretty awesome. His music choice was great (really upbeat songs that kept things going). And despite the relatively small class size (I went on a Thursday night and there were only about 7-8 people), he did a great job in keeping everyone motivated and pushing our limits. I'd definitely come back to check out more of his classes. My only qualm is that the bikes were old school (they only have dials that you turn to adjust the resistance and nothing else to help gauge how many notches you've turned). The bikes are also placed a little too closely together making it difficult to stretch without being conscious of how close your are to the person next to you. But like the other studios, the first class is free so be sure to check it out! read more

The indoor cycling CycleScape offers is top notch with some great instructors. Be warned though, this is not your typical cycling class - as they incorporate dance moves and upper body motions. Mandy is my favorite instructor and keeps me motivated. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot! Super affordable rates and no contract in which they lock you into. Clean studio and well working machines. read more

I was lucky enough to get to the Yelp event on 1/4/15 and I really enjoyed it and plan on going here again! It's a great workout and the instructors are were great, as was the music. The facility is nice and clean, and there are free parking garages nearby. I've taken Soulcycle classes before too and not only is this less expensive than Soulcycle, but you get to workout with realistic scenery, which adds to the experience by making it fun, and you don't need to wear special shoes and pay for them. You also get to use weights. Overall, a great and enjoyable workout! read more

I have been to so many classes at Cycle Scape and they're always such a great workout! I was able to lose a decent amount of weight going to classes here regularly. The owner Li is always super friendly and makes a point to say hello to those attending his classes. All the instructors are always super helpful with anything you need and the facility just feels cleaner than other gyms. The bathroom is always fully stocked with hair ties and tampons in case anyone forgets these items (along with other basics) at home! I generally hate showering at gyms, I just always feel so gross but the showers at Cycle Scape feel so clean and private I don't even mind! It's the only gym I where I actually use their showers. There is also ample parking in the structure it's connected to which is always a plus in downtown. Definitely recommend! read more

This is my go to place for cycling!! The studio space is always clean and the towels that are conveniently placed on each bike smell amazing. I've taken several instructors and they all have different training styles but the end result remains the same: plenty of sweat, the feeling of accomplishment and one-step closer to earning those killer thighs and staying fit. The icing on the cake is all of the positive energy and good vibes that you immediately feel when you walk in the door to check-in and William, Andrea or the trainer teaching the class greets you. I've been taking classes at the studio since December and even when they are tired, sick or on their third class for the day the quality of the classes, customer service and the amount of work they put in to keeping the space clean never suffers. Can't say enough good things about the quality of service and trainers. The workouts are creative, the music is awesome and you have 2 huge screens of scenic rides and videos to keep you motivated and entertained while your legs are on fire from digging deep to ride up those hills. Go try a class...your legs will thank you!!! No excuses when the first class is free. :- ) read more

I fell in love with spinning over 10 years ago. Going to gym classes (24, Gold's) was getting a little boring and so I stopped for a few years to try other fitness alternatives - Crossfit, etc. I moved to the East Bay from San Jose two years ago and was ready to rekindle my spin habits and find a great new gym in my new area. Soulcycle seemed like a great place to start, but there is no Soul love for the East Bay (ahem). I could not accept that there were no boutique spin gyms in the East Bay, so I kept scouring Yelp and the interwebs till that fateful day I found CycleScape. It's in Walnut Creek! Convenient - check! It's only spin classes, set to great music, integrated upper body workout ala Soulcycle - check! Good price per class and package deals - check! Free introductory class - check! It sounded too good to be true, so I had to check it out. Lo and behold, it indeed was a match made in heaven. CycleScape Walnut Creek is small gym with great instructors, super clean and modern décor, complimentary mandarin oranges as you leave class, showers, set your own code lockers, and is located in the heart of Walnut Creek near a parking garage. I've had Nicole, Lisa S., and Lisa H. as my instructors and each has their own style, but I loved their music and video choices, their energy, and I got a kickass ride. The owner William is a rockstar. He's super warm and friendly, accommodating, great to chat with, and very committed to running a top notch gym. And he has an adorable pup that makes a guest appearance every now and then. I was hooked from my first ride. So much so, that I talked a girlfriend into coming with me that hadn't been spinning in years. Needless to say, she's now addicted and just bought her own clip-in shoes as all good spinners do. Wednesday night rides have become our go-to date night to blow off a little steam from work and get our sweat on. I honestly can't imagine leaving CycleScape if their, ahem, major competition, decides to set up shop outside of SF/Palo Alto/Mill Valley and acknowledge the demand for spinning on the east side of the Bay Bridge. CycleScape gained my attention out of convenience, but they've won my loyalty by treating their customers like a part of their family. read more

Cycle Scape - My weekend place, join us for any ride! - Gyms Near Me - Orinda, California

I was not super thrilled with cycle scape. I've tried soulcycle and ride oakland, and cycle scape was by far the poorest. First, the workout is only 45 minutes which is ok, but I found that there was a lot of down time during the workout and a lot of breaks taken to do things like clapping and "figure eights" and other weird choreography that serves no real purpose. I was most disappointed in the weight segment which consisted of lifting a weighted bar up and down a few times on each side. It really seemed like the instructor was just "winging it" with the workout and doing whatever popped into his mind. Minus 1 star because they don't provide shoes, for rent or otherwise. I will say the facilities are nice with clean bathrooms and a shower. Maybe with better instructor training the quality will get better, but I won't be back to find out. read more

I absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this cute cycling studio. William the owner is amazeballs. He was extremely welcoming, accommodating and friendly. He gave us a tour of all the wonderful amenities. His customer service was impeccable! My two girlfriends and I took Carl's class which was awesome. We received a wonderful sweat dripping workout. Carl was amazing (love that British accent) and really made the class fun and exciting. This is the 1st interactive spin class that I've taken. Love the large monitor screens that take you to and from different terrains. Makes it more interesting because you actually have a visual in addition to the music to keep things exciting. I look forward to partaking in other classes to experience all the many styles of each instructor. Wonderful addition to downtown Walnut Creek! read more

Get your butts out here to Walnut Creek for a killer workout with some awesome tunes & great instructors! I've taken a handful of classes over the last few months, I'd love to be here every other day but life's at its craziest. Sam & William will make you sweat and push yourself for an awesome workout; did I mention awesome music?! Haha! This has been my escape. You can just leave everything at the door and ride! For anyone looking to get back in shape while having a low impact yet high intensity cardio workout, I highly suggest coming in to try a few classes with different instructors! Here's your start to a happier healthier lifestyle with a positive mindset to kick off the new year as well! Fun, fun, fun... Cycle Scape is doing business right. The employees and instructors are courteous, friendly and very eager to orient you to the cycle world. I really appreciated having my first class free. It allows you to experiment and undoubtedly fall in love with this fast paced exercise which happens to be quite doable. The music is wonderful and you feel like you are inside of a pitch black club. The pitch black room is equipped with two gigantic screens playing videos on the background as your move to a loud contagious beat! I want to go back! read more

Mandy J took care of me! Just like the banner says "Our instructors are skilled, passionate and caring", Mandy is certainly one of them. She kicks butt, kept the enthusiasm up throughout and then sought me out after class to welcome me. I was very impressed by her and her explanation of how flexible and varied this studio and its instructors are. I'll be returning soon! read more

I LOVE IT HERE! STAFF: The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. Super knowledgeable, nice, willing to answer my questions, and they're totally willing to work something out with me whenever I miss a payment. PARKING: The parking lot for this complex ALWAYS has plenty of open spots. I never have issues finding parking. Even if I can't get one on the first floor, I can always find one on the other floors super close to the elevator/stairs. BATHROOMS: Very clean bathrooms and nice aesthetics. Bright while walls and nice tiling. Normally, I don't like showering anywhere else besides my own shower, but WOW. They keep them super clean and stocked with anything I would need. This is the only gym I have ever showered at. CLASS: The classes totally kick my butt into shape. I work the typical 40 hour work week and deal with traffic, so I really love that they have later classes most nights, so I can actually work out and not use the excuse "they are closed". I've been taking Sam's classes lately and I LOVE HER ENERGY! And not to mention the music. Most of the trainers have some pretty awesome music to keep you pumped, but I love Sam's playlist and how she choreographs her workouts to the music. Plenty of slower paced songs to really get my muscles working hard, and then those super pumped up beats that get my heart beating its hardest! OTHER: They always have plenty of clean white towels and water bottles ready for when you forget (which I do often). Their showers are always stocked with large towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and all kinds of different deodorants/sprays. They even have a hairdryer for when you really need it. When I get there before the current class is out, I sit and eat the delicious tangerines that they always have in stock, or sip some tea when it's freezing outside (I love the peppermint one they bought for the holiday season). And they have those HUGE nifty lockers with customizable code locks so I don't have to bring/buy my own lock. THIS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!! The staff here really take pride in their work and take care of their customers just as well as they take care of their facility; and it clearly shows. read more

Love love love!!!! Indoor cycling is such a great workout and they make it so fun. I love that using cycling shoes is optional (and if u want to use them they have some for loan at no cost!) and they offer many classes at different times through out the day. They have such great deals for new riders that you can't beat and for us continuing riders they offer deals just because they know your face! I would hands down recommend Cycle Scape. Give them a try, the first class is free! read more

I've spun at 24 fitness, Crunch, Flywheel, SoulCycle, and now CycleScape. What I've learned is what makes a spin class so successful is the instructor. I've found my favorites, but CycleScape has been top of my list. Li-Am's hip hop class is so different from what I've experienced! If only I moved as good as him! I've taken glow and Beats as well and regardless the genre of music, he makes class so worth while and those 45 minutes just cycle by! I love that I always have a seat, but I really think this class has every reason to be booked each day! Do yourself a favor and take your first free class. That's another plus, they give your first class for FREE! read more

I am so EXCITED to finally see a cycling studio in the Walnut Creek area! I'm originally from the East Bay and come up from Los Angeles several times per year to visit. In LA, spinning is my jam. It's a super effective work out and once you get into the rhythm it's super fun. Cycle Scape is clean, has great instructors and is a fantastic place to get your burn on. Instructors are very attentive and make sure that newbies get the attention they need. I wasn't familiar with the bike (it was slightly different from the ones at my studio in LA) and the instructor made sure that I had it right. The class was upbeat and intense. I definitely got my sweat on and felt very accomplished afterwards. read more

Went to a cycle class with LT last night, and it did not disappoint! The parking was amazing, easy to find and such a great location downtown! The studio was extremely clean and we were greeted by the owner, William. He was so nice and personable, really made us feel welcome. Plenty of locked lockers to put your stuff and nice bathrooms with a shower in case you're on the go and catch a quick class on your lunch break! The class was great, LT was super energetic and passionate. The music was perfect, helped me keep motivated, and they have two large projection screens that were a great distraction during those hills! I ended up buying a package afterwards because I loved it so much and William helped me find a package that was perfect for me. Again the location is perfect! Went and got dinner downtown afterward and celebrated with some wine! Overall such a fun experience can't wait to go back for another class! read more

I took 2 classes this week with Stephanie and another instructor. They were great and I loved the music and setting in the room. Awesome place and conveniently located in Walnut Creek. I love it even my 13 year old joined me for a class. We will become members for sure. read more

What a gem, I'm hooked. Convenient parking, affordable and sooo much fun. The staff is very courteous, helpful and welcoming. I'm just happy to get in a good sweat while grooving to some great music. Plus I'm all about supporting local independently owned establishments which are becoming far and few in Walnut Creek. The management keeps the place clean and organized and the bikes are in great condition. In 45 minutes I feel like a new person. After my first class, I purchased a package and plan on bringing my friends and family. Its definitely the best spin / cycling spot in Walnut Creek. read more

I'm a novice spin cycler and Cycle Scape made me feel welcome no matter if I knew how to ride the bike properly or not! I've been to about 20 sessions and I'm hooked! Another great workout at Cycle Scape. I was feeling a bit sluggish this Friday afternoon and needed a pick me up. So low and behold my work colleague told me about a spin class that I just had to go to. It had glow in the dark items, yes please, live DJ, even better, and spin... ENDORPHIN. Happy people have a lot of endorphins. So we mosied on over to Walnut Creek and took an evening GLOW Spin class. What a great time. I def want to experience more classes there. I received a great workout and left feeling energized for the weekend ahead! read more

I'm in love with this place!!!! it's small but mighty. I just started going but william (the owner) is so amazing! so much energy, and is just FUN! i've never done a "proper" spin class before so I can't compare it to the bigger studios like soul cycle, but that is a wonderful place to check out! The class packages are a SUPER great deal and they even do student discounts!!! Classes are offered at great times and the parking is REALLY easy!!!!!!!!!! We need this place to survive walnut creek since it's not a franchise, but individually owned & operated! Can't wait for my next class! read more

Great classes, no pretension, fun music and instructors. My fave place in Walnut Creek to work out! :)

Cycle Scape is a great addition to downtown Walnut Creek. I love the warm and friendly atmosphere. Everyone always greets me with a smile. The owner is so kind and encouraging and he never misses an opportunity to ask how its going. I appreciate that he wants my experience to be its absolute best. The classes are fantastic. Think SoulCycle without the ego. There is great music playing and the lighting is dimmed. Videos of beautiful hikes or locations play on large screens as you spin your heart out. Each instructor teaches in slightly different way and I can say that I have loved every class that I've ever taken since they first opened. I really enjoy the mid day twelve noon class. It's 30 hardcore minutes. I try to make it to this class whenever possible. There are lockers and a shower and changing area. It's clean and private. I would most definitely recommend Cycle Scape to any and everyone looking for a great workout in a friendly and safe environment. read more

Experience my first class with Li-Am as the instructor and it was awesome. You're able to get a really good workout and have so much fun doing it. Cycle Scape facility is super clean. Plenty of lockers and locks are provided. Bathrooms are nice and big. They also have showers with shampoo/conditioner, make up wipes, towels. I LOVE how it is one of the closest places in the NORTH and EAST bay for cycling since Soul Cycle is so damn far AND expensive. Definitely coming back! read more

Get your ass in shape literally! Great work out, instructors are friendly laid back, go at your own pace. It's not pretentious which I'm surprised at because it's Walnut Creek. People are super friendly and everyone has the same goal there, work out and have fun. So far William and Miriam are my fave instructors. I heard the evening classes are crowded so I skip those and do mornings or 4:30, so far no problem getting in and getting the bike I want. They play cool videos on 2 screens while you ride, there's 2 showers with towels and amenities provided, and also water if you need it. Best of all ITS CLEAN! I'm a germ freak but they wipe every bike down after every class with antibacterial spray. The whole place is clean, 5 stars for that! First ride is free, try it you will get hooked! Ask Felipe for their monthly specials! read more

Just took my first class here, I found the studio through Class Pass. I took the cycling class with Anne, she was a great teacher! She had great music and was good at get everyone pumped up and sweaty. The studio itself is really nice, it is all super new and clean. The spin room has about 40 bikes and there are two large screens at the front of the room. During the class there are different rides up on the screen and it's pretty cool, definitely added to the class and gave you something fun to look at while busting ass on the bike. There are lockers and shower rooms as well. Parking is the only thing that isn't ideal but if you take a morning class you should be good. read more

First time taking a cycle class, and was a bit nervous trying something new. Thankfully I came to Cycle Scape, because besides providing a great upbeat workout, their staff was super helpful and kind towards a first timer like myself. Will definitely be coming back for more classes! read more

I read a few reviews here where people were previously complaining about the room being too cold and they couldn't break a sweat. I was looking for anyone who might experience my issue with the room being too warm. You should be sweating by the end of the first song, despite the temp of the room, but it certainly should NOT be over low 60s. At least 4 times now, it's felt heat stroke hot for me by the end of 45 minutes because I go hard. Here's the thing about indoor cycling, there's a resistance knob. If you aren't sweating, IT'S YOUR FAULT. They move classes through here with 15 minute breaks in between, the room doesn't cool down and I'm not sure they run an AC. Also, unfortunately I saw how they clean the bikes in between. One towel, one spray bottle, all the bikes. That's a petri dish if you ask me. The waiting hall/locker room is usually full of people sitting on the benches staring at their phone waiting for the next class, so emerging students get to change out of their clip ons while standing. I feel like for $200 a month, it could be a little better. read more

Love the ease of signing up and paying online. Your first class is complimentary, so, no reason not to give it a try. Signing in was easy, they were really busy, so the front desk didn't have time to give an intro or anything to us about the class, or where we should wait, etc. BUT, everything ended up being pretty self explanatory so no big deal. The class itself was a lot of fun, only hiccup I experienced was a missing weight bar on my bike, but another student was willing to get off their bike and grab one for me, THANK YOU! Music is really great, as well as the scenery on the projectors, great A/C level, instructors are upbeat and helpful, my only complaint is how expensive the membership is with no showers available and such a small space. $200/month EEK. I see myself coming 2 to 4 times a month. read more

First time cycling. 5 stars for the facility and instructor William. He made the class exciting and fun.
