I hadn't shot in a while and this was a good place to try out my new .38 revolver. This spot is conveniently located in Forney. Not too far from town to grab a bit to eat once you are done shooting. The layout is pretty much standard for any range. The price point is also on point. Ladies, they offer gun safety and shooting classes. My dear friend takes the class and raves about the patience of the instructors. A nice stop too with great prices for a new weapon. Love this place! Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Took a few private lessons here and my CCL. I purchased three weapons here and sold them one I'd had. They were very patient with me as I looked for the "perfect" weapon for me. Thanks to their suggestions, them listening to what I liked/didn't like, and trying a few from their rental wall, I found one I love! When I lived in Forney, I used to go to the range at CYA about twice per month. I moved away 5 months ago, and although I've attempted to go to my current local range a number of times, only managed to go in and shoot twice. Looking for another range, or may just drive back to Forney to get some range time. Miss all y'all! read more

The hairy guy that works at gun shows is extremely rude. When I asked if they offer a military/veteran discount and he responded with "well the owner is a veteran and he doesn't give himself a discount!" Then this guy said that veterans expect things for free!!! We don't, but if you don't ask, you don't get anything. read more

I bought a membership for my daughter back in December for Christmas and they had tan out of cards for membership Id. Here it is June and know one from their has reached out let me know if ID card back in yet . Know we've got out to range as much as I'd like since we bought membership but that's my fault . My wife and I scheduled a beginner class with a nice older gentleman. We scheduled it more than a week in advance and pre-paid. We arrived and began our class. Then some manager interrupted, angrily asked us who scheduled our class for us, and then rudely ordered our instructor out of the classroom. Our instructor came back a few minutes later, extremely apologetic, and informed us that we could not have our class. (The manager never apologized for cancelling our class, wasting our time, etc.) It's disappointing that CYA would let that asshole run their store, treat other employees so poorly, and shamelessly ignore their commitments to customers. We did request a refund rather than reschedule, so while we won't get our time, gas, etc. back, at least we'll get our money returned. read more

My wife and I went to this range for the first time a few weeks ago. Overall it's a decent range, especially considering it's local, but it's a bit cramped. The staff is nice but the lanes are narrow making for not so good acoustics. Advice: don't take any new shooters here if they are "skiddish" as the increased noise level may create additional anxiety. read more

Me and my family used to have a membership here between 2020-2021. I loved this gun range. Loved the fact it was indoor and the staff were extremely nice and friendly. I was looking to go shooting and drove the 40 minutes to this range to do business with good people, but it ended up being a disappointing experience. When I walked in the staff seemed to treat me as though I was a burden and was overall during my experience extremely standoffish and rude. When asking to use their range they informed me that I couldn't shoot anything over a .223 without a silencer which I would have to rent from them. I brought a .308 and my 5.56/.223 compatible AR-15. I had never heard of this rule for the range and asked when it had changed. I was informed this was always a rule. I later reviewed the range rules on the website, and I confirmed it was not on the website. The rule of the range is not my issue it's the fact this is not documented on their website and the overall quality of their current staffs customer service. I once enjoyed working with this place. I'll no longer be doing business with them, but I wish them all the best. read more

This place needs to be shut down. The sales person "Luis" is totally rude and vulgar. Went there with my family to check out the new range and was about to buy a Platinum membership when Luis came in and started cursing because we were trying to explain to the original salesman we were told the price included everyone that lives in the house, but Luis was yelling that it was for four persons and any one else wpuld piggyback for $100 each. He got mad and told us to get out. I told my family we would go somewhere else and started to leave and he got louder and flipped my daughter off and threatened to copl the police even though we were leavin g and HE was the one causing a scene. Well I put a gun on layaway in April. Made my last payment on Father's day so I could have it on Father's day. Made multiple payments. Drove from Mckinney to Forney to be told that the gun I had got has been discontinued. In no way ever did they tell me before hand. They didn't give me a email or call. Now I have to wait for them to order another one. Still haven't made my mind up if i should just get a refund. Im sure they'd be pissed if it was them in my shoes. But boy those free range days for the mistake aren't gonna be used if i live far away. If you didn't get anything from this just know when CYA pops up on your map just to keep looking. Great range. The people who work here are super friendly. They also have great climate control. The range is also 25 yards long unlike some ranges in the area. They also honor coupons they hand out at gun shows, again unlike some ranges in the area. They have great prices on firearms and have a large selection of everything. Literally THREE people hear the phone convo about the purchase, about the words that came out of HIS mouth (which weren't even that many, can't believe he bothered lying about it), and about the process. To be honest my first experience there was awesome. I enjoyed interacting with Luis(Lewis) and Caleb. They were knowledgeable and down to earth people. I put a couple of 22's in lay-a-way and expressed interest in a savage A-17. Caleb added my name on a list and said he'd call me when one arrived. I said great, I'll shoot over and put it in lay-a-way as well. He said o.k. 3 days later I get a call from a young lady saying it was in. I couldn't make it but I wanted to put a down payment on it. She said you can't lay-a-way but one gun at a time. I said I told Caleb I would put it in lay-a-way. She said no strict policy on 1 gun....hmmm..."well I have 2 in lay-a-way now" after she basically called me a liar and looked it up, she said i don't know why they did that? I said no problem, I will be to pay for my stuff. She called this little blonde lady who was a complete butt hole. I made it 2 days later to pay off my items..and the little blonde came out when she heard my name..to continue berating me and wouldn't let the issue go. After I paid in full she says, "So, now would you like to put the A-17 in lay-a-way, or do you want to be taken off of the list?" I said in the calmest voice possible, "Yes ma'am, please remove my name" She with her condescending attitude says "done" while obviously stroking the keys on the keyboard very hard. My only experience here is gun transfers. I have received two and shipped two from this store. I suggest going somewhere else. Whenever you walk in and tell them what you'd like to do, be prepared to receive a huge list of reasons why you're going to have to wait or leave and have them call you( which will be a while) or just leave your guns with them. They will decide when they feel like doing your request. On my most recent trip I decided to leave the guns as I live an hour away. They said they would call with the amount due which I could pay over the phone. It took them 3 hours to call. Once they called they forgot to add insurance and had already created the shipping labels. The girl told me I would just have to ship without insurance. I then told her no I won't and that I wouldn't be able to ship unless they provided insurance. She said she'd have to reprocess and call back. Now at this point she'd already charged me for the original shipping price. She also had quoted me around 10 shipping for each gun. When she called back she said the additional charge would be $49. I thought this was high but I was extremely busy and just gave her my card info again because I needed to get these guns shipped. The next day I called to inquire about the shipping price and they couldn't talk to me and said they would call back. An hour later after no one called I called them. The girl still couldn't talk. After speaking with another employee I realized that she had in fact made an error on the original charge and added her error to my insurance fees without even informing me of the reason for the up charge. Very unprofessional !! These guys need to get their stuff together plus their customer service skills stink. Look if you don't like doing transfers then don't do them,but if you want to offer a service then offer it excellently! I will no longer be going here nor will I recommend them. read more

I recently purchased a firearm from CYA. The initial purchase experience was positive. My salseman Ross didnt appear to know a great deal about the firearm I was interested in however he provided friendly assistance. Unfortunately the firearm turned out to be defective out of the box *I can't fault CYA for that as that isn't something within their control*. 3rd times the charm ...wont be going back .....been there 3 times the first was ok the 2nd and 3rd visit we a waste of time....on my 2nd trip we were treated poorly by not being helped by any 1 of the no less than 3 employees talking over coffee 10 feet away from us ...by the time we did get assistance the guy who helped us was a complete idiot and couldn't answer much of anything when asked, overall he seemed preoccupied with getting back to his coffee and hen pecking with the other guys behind the counter .....3rd trip was to purchase and trade in a gun ...i was going to purchase a sig p938 9mm and trade in my brand new in box [never fired] sig 22cal handgun on said purchase .....the trade value offered was so far under the real value of the gun it was insulting [literally pawn shop prices ] and the little blonde woman[Valerie i am pretty sure was her name] that made the offer was a complete smart ass /condescending and VERY rude....she offered me 120 dollar trade value on the gun i brought in [they had the same gun in a case across the room used for sale for around 370$ so they were going to double their money plus, if i had decided to go through with the deal [which i did not]....consequently i went across the street to the much smaller mom and pop gun shop who gave me fair trade value of 220 dollars on the brand new in the box sig and i made my purchase of the 9mm through them all the while never being insulted or handed attitude but treated like a valued customer...i have since made several purchase through the smaller shop'''gotta have guns'' and will continue to do so....CYA guns has lost my business... read more

A friend referred me to this place and to be honest its a family friendly enviroment feel. I love how they have a variety of firearms to rent and buy. Best part, the gun range needs a key fob to enter. Not everyone can just slip in. I believe feeling safe in an enviroment with firearms is a plus. Customer service...well they go above and beyond. Just like any business or life in general you cant keep everyone happy (referring to the old low scored comments). I think the ones that matter the most will have the most impact on a business in a positive way. So seeing the low scored opinions. To be honest a one stop visit is like judging a book by its cover. But thats just my opinion. You have to check out the place. If youre into guns and shooting this place is far from boring. Has a virtual big screen where you can shoot with a real gun. So you zombie killers...try the adrenaline with an actual gun. Best adrenaline ive had in a while. Also there is two designated rifle lanes. CYA GUNS in Forney once again ranks top of the list for worst customer service and attempting to lie their way out of a problem. I tried to buy a part from them on 2/27/2019 in person at their store. They didn't know the difference between Mil-spec and commercial so i showed them. They insisted if i ordered it they would have it the next day and unfortunately i believed them. I paid in full assuming they knew what they were doing. The next day they did not have the part, the following day they did not have the past and 3 days later they still did not have the part. I attempted to cancel the order in person but they insisted i listen to their explanation of why I was wrong before the canceled the order. I declined to listen took my receipt and canceled it thru my credit card. That's their 2nd and final strike. I have never had a merchant attempt to lie their way out of incompetence. I will never do business there again and will fill every site i can see with my report on their lack of professionalism and customer service. read more

i agree this place needs to shut down, they never have anything in stock and want to order it. the prices are higher than academy, grabagun and other online gun stores. there transfer fees are expensive others here in forney only charge 15 to 20 dollars CYA charges 30.00 and when you call they have not clue what you are talking about i asked one of the girls for a 38 special and she did not know what that was. i just to to grabagun and get it cheaper. read more
