My wife was nostalgic for a Beretta .22 that she had when she was younger. I called around and found it at Ray's for her. She called back 1/2 hour later and put it on hold. She drove over there the next day, it was a hour and 20 mins over there. They'd sold it. The two crotchety older guys behind the counter were less than polite about it. Younger guy was apologetic. So I guess we won't be doing business with them any longer. Insult to injury. They're just rude and there's no point in keeping dinosaurs like that afloat in the gun game. Too many other options around. Edit : The employee she spoke with was named Mike. He's the one that stated that the firearm wouldn't be sold because it was in back and not out in the display case. He added that he'd see her tomorrow. She actually offered to give him a credit card number to hold it and he stated that he didn't really want to do that because she'd be buying a pistol sight unseen that she might be unhappy with. However you sold it, meaning you personally. You told her as much when she came in the next day. So the part where you go looking for some imaginary employee who was rude to her is a nice touch when you were the one that was rude to her. It wasn't my daughter, it was my wife. Name is Celeste. It's also interesting that you sent me a private message on Yelp to work things out and now because that didn't work and the review is staying up you're attempting to try and say that I'm a liar or that I'm exaggerating in some way. Mike said the gun would be there. She drove over there to get it all excited and came back all tearful. If this is your unmatched customer service suffice it to say that it needs a bit of work. Worst "gun smith" in Dallas that's for sure all they know what to do is mount sights and rails I took in a rifle so they can add a binary trigger the fat guy told me it could take up to 3 months so I can back 7 months later the gun was still in the same spot as before he told me he hasn't gotten the chance to look at it so I came back 11 months later just so he can tell me they can't do it and order a stock trigger system so I finally came back after 14 months to take my rifle elsewhere ridiculous My rifle had layers of dust that's how I know they never touched it every time I walked up to the gunsmith his fat ass was always sitting down never going to shop there again after spending thousands and thousands of dollars read more

From judging a USMC vet based off my dark skin color and tattoos to taking my custom cerakote order and not giving me any invoice or receipt, im not sure which reason to pick to never spend a dime with these business full of unprofessional staff. After 10 day past due date of order fulfillment promise, a store visit that was a waste if my time, and 3 phone calls with multiple staff members that all told me they don't know not just the progress on my order but where my pistols slide was I finally picked up my order and paid full price! I suffer from very strong anxiety and use legal cbd to medicate , I was asked to leave the store due to my smell, ( not a problem at all !) with that very politely headed towards the front door to leave without saying a word , as we were leaving, we were met with much aggression and treated as if we stole something the employee who asked us to leave, then began speaking to my friend and I very aggressively as if he was trying to purposely make us uncomfortable , the type of aggression where I was telling myself, I hope he doesn't try to put his hands on my buddy if you want good customer service there you better not smell bad I also want to make it very clear that there was no type of argument to stay, the only thing my buddy said was that he loved the store and he had been going there for a long time , a attempt to D escalate the situation because the employee was getting very close to my friend. So I consider myself mechanically inclined, however for the life of me I could not get this trigger installed on my 320. So I visited one of my favorite shops to get the trigger installed. Jake got me right in, also made me feel better by saying that yes the trigger is "difficult to install" . Asked me if I had 20 min and it would be done . They actually finished it in 10 min but I was looking at a 416. Moral of the story go and visit them to get your difficult firearm needs taker care of. read more

The place to go when you want to pay full msrp retail prices and 40 cents per round for 9mm. No price matching either. That being said the staff knows what they're talking about and they are very helpful. Gunsmith upstairs can be hit or miss but they usually get the job done ok. No horror stories but nothing exceptional. I wish they'd justify their crazy prices with specialty items like competition gear on the shelf including competition ammo. We don't have any shops in the dfw area that stock race holsters, timers, etc. Do better guys, I want to shop here. read more

My experience with Ray's Hardware has been less than desirable. I dropped off my 6.5 Creedmore over 2 weeks ago and the person on the other end of the phone informs me that they have not been able to effectively diagnosis the rifle and he hung up the phone in mid conversation. One of the premier gun shops in Dallas. They have a large inventory of all types of firearms and accessories. They even sell hardware.

It appears Ray's Sporting Goods has hit rock bottom and has continued to dig. I ordered a HK MR556A1 on 6/25/2021, to be shipped to a FFL where I live on the East Coast. When the weapon arrived, it was not as pictured on the Ray's Sporting Goods Website. The factory sights were missing from the gun, an item I paid a premium for above going retail rates due to scarcity. It was bad enough that the price had been inflated, but even more disgraceful that Roy's Sporting Goods cheated a customer out of items that should have been included with the purchase (and were pictured as such, with no disclaimer in the item description). I communicated with Ray's Sporting Goods via email immediately after delivery to report the missing sights. Ray's Sporting Goods responded in email that they "would make it right." It required me contacting them several more times, over months, only to be told this afternoon that they were going to do nothing to "make it right" and they claimed that it wasn't their fault the photo on their website for the HK MR556A1 depicted sights. There was nothing in the description of the gun on the Ray's Sporting Goods Website that stated the gun would NOT come with sights, no disclaimer at all. These despicable deceptive sales practices must stop, as should Ray's Sporting Goods abdicating any and all responsibility for their deceptive error. I encourage "buyer beware" if you engage in any business relationship with Ray's Sporting Goods. read more

When I get up to the register I opened up the box and noticed that 2 sleeves where missing so the guy charged me $80 Dollars. Please read! I want to start by saying, My initial Ray's experience started out great. Everyone from the greeter to the sales staff was top-notch. They were skilled, helpful, and friendly. Over the course of two days, I made two Purchases. One for $660.00 and one for $1050.00 Here is the disconnect. After getting home and unboxing my brand new firearm I noticed the owner's manual along with a polishing cloth was missing. At these price-points, NOTHING should be missing. I called the shop and spoke to Mike in the receiving department. I ask if he could gather the missing items and mail them to me. His response " I can print the manual and you can contact the manufacturer and ask them to send you the missing cloth. I told him that I just purchased a "new" firearm from Ray's Sporting Goods, Therefore the onus is on Ray's not the manufacture to make sure that everything that comes with the purchase is intact. Mike from receiving flat out told me "no it's not worth his time. When you walk into Ray's you can tell the owner worked hard to build this business and it's a great business. It only takes a few people like Mike in receiving to undo your hard work and customer-facing experience. Because of him, this is not a 5-star review food for thought. read more

I stopped by to return a sling and rifle bag - they were by no means defective, they just wouldn't fit my rifle. The team at Ray's Sporting Goods was kind enough to make sure that I got the right equipment I needed and sent one of their guys to help me pick. They also graciously allowed me to bring in my rifle to test the new bag and sling. When they realized the problem was with the way the rifle was built, two members of the staff jury-rigged a solution with some paracord and a bit of ingenuity. As you enter, Ray's is divided--hardware is available on the left side of the store and a large selection of rifles, shotguns, and handguns and supplies exists on the right. Generally quite busy during the midday hours, I recommend going closer to the opening/closing times unless you know exactly what you want. As far as prices go, they can vary greatly from model to model. Some guns at Ray's will be cheaper; some will be more. It just depends so you'll have to do your own comparisons. Sorry. Not being a white male, most gun shops are hesitant to help me out. Once they've exhausted their white clientele, they reluctantly speak up. If you don't believe me, take your closest, white/non-white friend, stand back, and watch the circus that is middle-class, white America. To state a much overused cliché, "It is what it is." Not with Ray's. The knowledgeable salespeople on staff at Ray's have always been very friendly and patient with me. As such, I have given them a lot of business, and I plan to give them more of it. Ray's has the best selection of firearms in north Texas, no doubt. They have just about any firearm you are looking for, even hard to find one. If you want selection, they are the kings. Their gunsmith is also good. I have had work done on a 1979 Ruger and a 1963 Browning, and he fixed it right the first time. No problems. Not the most "sociable" guy around, but if you want that, then get on Facebook. On the negative side they carry no black powder supplies (a bummer for those of us who ALSO shoot those weapons) and the sales staff can be a bit, er, ah, "assertive" at times. It's also a wading/collecting pool of Tea Party types, who generally scare/irritate the hell out of me. But I buy my guns here, and get them fixed here, so just ignore the politics and keep it strictly business and you will be fine. read more

I've purchased 4 guns from Rays and this will be my last. While I appreciate the high demand position they are in right now - the arrogance and lack of service is just too much. Their old school store is great. Their new school punk attitude and lack of customer service are unacceptable. I was fine paying a premium for the overall service and support but I'll take my next purchases elsewhere. I've spent $3,500 with these guys over the last few years and will be going elsewhere.
