We started off with fabulous didactics! Touched upon spin drift, wind, mirage, and a crash course on Applied Ballistics. Then climbed the tower w/ all the gear. Confirmed zero at 100. Garmin Xero for velocities. Adam's Kestrel for atmospherics. It was a deceptively beautiful day to freeze! Mirage was there. Wind was strong and super fickle just like your fave IG model. The cold northern wind was absolutely mind numbing! Frozen fingers. Frozen mind. You ain't training if it's not freezing! Thankfully not raining or hailing! Made some good hits! Missed a bunch at distance because of me; not the equipment! (Could've used the tutorial before Jack Reacher, but will have a new angle for my next Mission Impossible....shhh.) The rifle range master was extremely rude, making faces and acting annoyed with anyone who wasn't as experienced as he was. The pistol range master was more relaxed, and he did become friendlier toward the end. Inside the shop, most of the staff were not much better--although one gentleman and one lady were pleasant. LADIES BEWARD: This range is not for women, or at least that is the way they made me feel. The range is not feel very welcoming. It's a shame, because there aren't many outdoor ranges in the area. I always believed a range should be a place to learn, practice, and feel comfortable, but that wasn't the case here. I was embarrassed because I was the one who recommended it to my group.

They have a little sign that say dont block the gate and no parking. So make sure you dont get there early because they will treat you like a piece of crap. O and by the was there is no where to park to wait for them to open.

We used the rifle range that extends from 100 yards out to 700 yards. If you have the equipment (appropriate scope and rifle) along with the ability to demonstrate 1 MOA accuracy beginning at 100 yards, you are able to progress further out at 100 yard increments. I really enjoyed speaking with Walter and found him to be very helpful. I will most definitely return. Memberships are inexpensively priced and expire/need to be renewed each September, just as hunting licenses do.

The rifle range has berms in a straight line every 100 yards, from 100 to 600 - plus a way to shoot diagonally st 700 yards. The concrete benches are adjustable and sturdy, although the bench on the right needs to be re-anchored to the ground. Range-owner Walter is very friendly and easy to work with. He provides one blank target-board per visit, and you can attach any number of targets to it. If you want to shoot at different ranges without moving targets, you can buy additional cardboard target-backing. Very casual and easy to shoot here, and as I said earlier - the land is beautiful!
