Although this was my first time at a firing range, I wish the firing stalls were a little farther apart or at least had more extended walls so that the shells didn't hit everyone because it made it hard to focus. However, I don't know whether or not this is normal but I felt very confident in the location and the safety equipment we used there! As soon as I try other locations I might update this review, from what I understand they also host their own classes here so definitely check them out!

I needed the muzzle changed on my Sig AR, and even after watching several YouTube videos, it became obvious this was a task better left to a professional. Texas-Star Gunworks came highly recommended, so I walked in already feeling confident, and they still managed to exceed my expectations. It's incredibly reassuring when you meet someone who not only knows their craft, but clearly lives it. Mr. Girard was personable, easy to talk to, and genuinely enjoyable to chat with. But the moment he started working on my firearm, you could see the shift, he was in his element, focused, precise, and absolutely in command of what he was doing. I knew when he finished with my weapon, I would have positive results. Watching an expert at work is something I always appreciate, and this was no exception. The level of care and skill he put into the job made it clear I had brought my rifle to the right place. He knew what part I needed within seconds, and lucky even had that part in stock. He knew the special needs of my weapon based on brand. He knew the process to assure the gas would be relieved properly from the muzzle. HE KNEW HIS CRAFT. From now on, anything I need, upgrades, repairs, or anything in between, Texas-Star Gunworks will be my one-stop shop. The entire experience was outstanding, and Mr. Girard was nothing short of exceptional.

I grabbed this class on a Groupon for a great rate and when I found out it was 10 hours of class I was dreading it, but it was actually so much fun. Unlike most CHL classes that I've heard about the instructor (Mark Payne) actually broke up the important facts and information that you really need to know with interesting stories, videos and clips to help demonstrate what he was talking about and help us all understand the importance of the information he was covering more quickly. Since I went to one of the all women's classes he came prepared with a large number of handguns that everyone could come up to the front and pick up to see how they feel. This was important because most of us had not purchased a gun yet (wanting to know how to use it first) and he took time to talk to each of us about what we might look for in a gun. He also brought fake bullets and allowed us all to practice loading a clip throughout the class so that by the end of the day when we went to take the firing range test we felt confident in loading the clip on our own. I can't say enough how FAST the day flew by, it's what we were all saying on every break and the information was so interesting and Mark was so funny (while still getting across how important it is) that it was very enjoyable. The firing range test was a little nerve-wracking but Mark and his family (who run the company together) are very good at helping you become comfortable and confident, even when firing for the first time! I know I would not have done as well without his help, and I definitely wouldn't have my CHL! If you're looking for a class, GO HERE, you won't regret it!
