all the aisles are clearly marked and they're usually good about restocking, but at the end of the day, it's just another cvs. no one here goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need, and the self-checkout registers are super finicky and embarrass you by announcing to those within earshot that your card cannot be accepted at this time..then processes your purchase and prints out your receipt. when i'm jonesin' for a particularly unhealthy snack, need to get a photo from a memory card printed in a rush, or just need a pack of gum, this cvs takes care of the tasks. however, there is a perpetual line. be prepared to wait at least five minutes for human or computer interaction. read more

Terrible terrible pharmacy service, would rate a 0 star if possible. I was in surgery and my fiancé went to pick up medicine prescribed by the doctor. She called and had to wait forever for a callback, and then they couldn't hear her on the phone. One of my medicines needed insurance approval and a call from the doctor, the doctor called post operation and waited 20 minutes and then just hung up and told us to just pay without insurance. My fiancé tried that and they wouldn't let us and so she left, just for them eventually to say my insurance denied it and we had to pay out of pocket anyway so she had to go back. Through it all they were extremely rude, and made it seem like they didn't believe the doctor or she had even called them. read more

The zero star review is not an option. I'd give it to this CVS Pharmacy if I could. Scheduled an appt online for a flu shot. Pharmacy employee was chatting w customers while people waited. Just chatting. Had customer names and vaccines mixed up-despite a very specific online registration process. Tried to push covid shots to everyone. Put on rubber gloves, then tapped device screen with gloved hand. Floor around the employee was littered w papers and used gloves. Not sure how this can be happening in a place authorized to dispense vaccines. I won't be back. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Spring Valley store on December 23rd. I looked for an item, but not finding it, approached one of the employees who was hanging around the front of the store, talking on his cell phone. I waited next to him for him to get off the phone, which he did not, then gave up and looked again for the item I needed. Not finding it, I returned to him (he was the only employee on the floor); he was still on the phone, ignoring me until I asked for his help. He didn't end his call, but asked me what I wanted. He was of no help, but as we talked, he reached down and sort of clutched his genitals. I was shocked and said something to the effect of "What are you doing; you can't do that!" He said, "I can do whatever I want, it's a free country." This went on for a couple of similar exchanges, with him repeatedly, almost reflexively, feeling himself, and me progressively more astounded. He said, "Who are you, who are you to tell me what to do?" several times, each time more belligerently, while I kind of sputtered in disbelief while he kept checking to make sure everything was in place in his pants. Finally he said, "Who are you - you're just a customer!" Meanwhile, I had tried to get his name, asked for the manager, was told there wasn't one in the store, and to return the next day. As we talked, he at first covered his name badge with his hand, then removed it. Then, he made himself scarce. The cashier (wearing his name badge) refused to give me his colleague's name and said it was a privacy right for him not to disclose his name. I waited around for a bit until he showed up in the store again and took his picture before leaving. The next day, I tried calling the store to find a manager, but all I got was the pharmacy line, asking me to leave a message. I tried to find someone to talk with on the CVS corporate site. Every number I called was either disconnected while ringing or sent me to an extension that immediately disconnected. The week before this event, my doctor's office had sent a prescription to the pharmacy in the morning. When I arrived to pick it up late in the afternoon, I stood in the pharmacy line for 12 minutes before getting to the front of the line, only to be told that it wasn't ready yet, but should be available in 30 minutes. This is my favorite CVS in DC. I want to shout out the pharmacists that were on duty today specifically- a customer became agitated while I was picking up my meds, and he ended up throwing his bag across the counter at the pharmacists and refusing to leave. Although everything he was saying was nonsense, the incredibly helpful and kind pharmacists handled it with grace the entire time. I've never had ANYTHING but a good experience here in the years I've been coming- my meds are always ready when they say they are, the pharmacists are friendly, and when I needed passport photos last week, this was the only CVS in the district that had a working passport photo machine. All the staff are lovely and the store is reliable. Just wanted to show love for my favorite CVS and counteract the negative reviews that psycho was threatening to leave. read more

It deserves zero stars. My cvs.com page did not show I had any prescriptions pending but Dr called one in at 3:30. Called CVS pharmacy to check--told to "please hold". after 1 hour and 34 minutes I gave up and had doctor cancel that prescription and resend to a Safeway. CVS is FAMOUS for long hold times, but over 94 minutes--who knows how much longer--is inexcusable. NEVER use any CVS pharmacy--there are Rodmans and other non-chain pharmacies that actually provide service. I just deleted CVS as an alternate pharmacy on all my doctors portals and my insurance. read more

I had a very good experience with the Covid Vaccine. I put my name down on the waitlist back when appointments were really hard to find and they got me in. 30 minutes after I left the store they were already calling for me to come back. Additionally in the many times I have been to this CVS the staff have been friendly and helpful. read more

This pharmacy never seems to have any meds in stock, even those my family gets filled regularly. Why would you not order medication your customers fill with you every month? Not only that but you have to follow up with them each time a prescription is sent to ensure it's actually being filled. This used to be a minor annoyance but now it's actually impossible because, as several others have noted, they just don't pick up the phone. The entire pharmacy team, especially the Pharmacist, Weho, are super-efficient, helpful, and friendly. Even as busy as they are, the staff knows the many regular customers, and makes one feel as though there whole focus is on you, and getting your medication processed. Pharmacy is horrendous. Anytime I try calling I spend an astonishing 2+ hours on hold. I have had to resort to leaving work early to get in touch with anyone. And shockingly, last time I did that with the call still on hold on my cell phone for 2hr22min and the pharmacy staff was just goofing off with one another. No one even on line waiting and no one on the phone. To say I was frustrated and disappointed is an understatement. They don't give a hoot about their customers. Go somewhere else. read more

It's a CVS. It has an easily accessible parking lot, it's a good size, and it has a friendly staff, but really, it's a CVS like any other CVS. It does have a highly friendly pharmacist and staff, and if you have questions about your medication, this is probably a good place to have it filled. read more

Corporate giants like this that turn customers into unpaid cashiers have to be the most cynical and craven aspect of modern commerce. Those machines destroyed jobs and access to the economy for thousands of people. Customers don't want to work for free; it makes them feel exploited AND overcharged. This isn't a cool hippie "coop market" with a benevolent mission and purpose. It's a corporate profit grab at the expense of of the customer. The silver haired woman pharmacist is so professional and really keeps that place running in an efficient, pleasant way. There is however, another male pharmacist usually there on weekends--the Taliban Pharmacist--who judges you when you are ordering things he does not approve of, questions the authenticity of your prescriptions and just otherwise is so incredibly incompetent and hostile that I cannot understand how the situation is allowed to continue. In winter, there are globs of frozen mucus, spilled food, and what appears to be congealed vomit littering the sidewalk directly in front of the store. Are there no hoses? Are there no steam cleaners? Frequently, random employees from CVS or other stores hover near the entryway and smoke. You have to tromp through all of this for the privilege of scanning your own over-priced items and be judged by mean pharmacy man. Definitely subpar. read more

This store used to be my favorite, but it has really gone downhill. The store was dirty/messy and the staff were not helpful. I was at the self serve kiosk machine and the machine froze at the payment (another reviewer mentioned this as well). There were 2 employees nearby not assisting anyone else. I asked for help and the one employee said to use another kiosk. I did, but I told him my 40% coupon was in the other kiosk. He then told me to go to the regular line. So, I explained to the checkout line clerk the situation. He said there was nothing he could do and I needed to pay full price, even though I pointed to the blinking kiosk that showed my 40% discount. I decided not to purchase the item. Will not go to this CVS again. :( read more

I think I'm so smart ;-) Before making the trip to pharmacy, I call to see if prescription is ready for pick up. Told "no", then "yes". Discrepancy also with refills. History has taught me not to have any confidence in the pharmacy staff. Based on my previous experiences, I'll only truly find out the availability of my prescription, once I arrive. Sadly, I'm at the point where nothing is believed. When attempting to checkout at front of store, have found myself almost being apologetic as I wish to make a purchase and interrupt employees who appear to be enjoying their own loud party. Depending upon the employees, what can periodically be very useful is a good dose of parental supervision. read more

Five stars because it's well stoked and clean and the pharmacists seem capable. One star based on its checkout. This store isn't that crowded, but there's almost always a five minute wait to see a cashier for some reason. It's not unusual for the line to start going down the aisle, and it's almost madness on some days because it gets so crowded. And there's this ginormous pole thing that blocks the view of one of the main cash registers from where people form a line. Also- the photo place is always broken. Not that I would use it myself, since I am under the age of 50, but I always see old people going up to the counter and being told to come back next week when some new part comes in. Weird. This has been my CVS since I was a wee lad, and I love it. They recently remodeled the store and it's now got a bigger selection of items, and it generally feels a lot more spacious. They have a 'grab and go' section (or something like that) with various smoothies and such, as well as a bigger drinks selection than in many other CVS stores. The only gripe people might have is that they installed a bunch of self-checkout systems and are trying to get people to use those instead of a human cashier. I myself don't have a problem with this since I usually only buy a handful of things here, but I know a lot of people don't like using these machines. It also makes it a hassle to buy things that require an ID since you first have to ask someone to get the item for you, bring it to the self-checkout register, and then check your ID. Overall though it's better than it's ever been and I don't think a week goes by where I don't go to this place at least once. read more

I live behind this CVS (about a 3 minute walk) and it is very sub-par in my very wide array of CVS experiences. My number one gripe about this store is that they don't carry all of the products I use. I have to get my toner, moisturizer, and body wash at the CVS on Wisconsin in Tenleytown. What gives? Also, the pharmacist I interacted with was very judgy-wudgy. I felt very uncomfortable. Oh, and their cold drink section is severely lacking...just sayin. read more

This is the first time I've been to this CVS pharmacy and I must say...it won't be the last! As a matter of fact, I think I'll make this my new pharmacy because of the great experience I had last Wed evening. They were friendly, knowledgeable and just plain awesome. Today I approached the empty counter at the pharmacy. A woman who was shopping popped up and asked if she could check out with her non pharmacy items at pharmacy counter. The cashier obliged. The cash registers at the front of the store were empty. I really don't understand. It wouldn't be impolite to ask her to go to the front. So I waited 10 minutes while she searched for her CVS member number or something. When someone else offered to help me as I stood waiting to fill a prescription I mentioned that I didn't think it made sense to check out general customers while people were waiting to fill prescriptions. One of my WORST pharmacy experiences ever. The pharmacist was rude and I had to go to drop off to check in then go to pick up even though my prescription was called in by a doctor. Walgreens is MUCH better, and treats me like a customer not like they are being bothered by me. The only good thing about this location is that the staff greeting you are friendly. Otherwise, it's a disaster. They are often poorly stocked on regular items such as school supplies, candies, and seasonal items. As a teacher this would be my first stop when I need these things, but I'd check elsewhere first. The pharmacy, though, takes the cake. I dropped off three prescriptions at 830 on a Monday morning and they told me they'd be ready at noon. I said I'd return after work, at around 5. When I returned at 515, the woman in front of me requested her RXs, which she said were called in last week. They told her fifteen minutes. She left very frustrated. When I asked for mine, they told me it'd also be fifteen minutes, five hours later than when they told me they'd be prepared. I told the employee that it seemed as though they only get the prescriptions going once someone comes to ask for it... She said it was due to understaffing. As many of us stood at the pharmacy waiting, they put our RXs together while ignoring other customers (except to occasionally tell some that theirs weren't ready yet). I'm lucky my medicine is for post-dental work later this week... If I were sick and waiting for my medicine, I would've been miserable. For a company that is making a huge effort to develop itself within the healthcare industry, this pharmacy falls short. Yikes read more

Awful, awful, awful. The employees here are all decidedly unhelpful, rude and inappropriate. When their CVS card machine refused to print coupons I knew I had, the cashier shrugged her shoulders, demanded payment, and would NOT help me. This place is right next to the law school, so I am sure they get plenty of business. They will not be getting anymore of mine, however, I can be treated as scum for free elsewhere. This is a subpar CVS. I would go here sometimes when I was in law school because it was super convenient, but I'd rather got to either of the two near my house or the one near my work any day. They do not have a large selection of anything and I often left without what I needed because they didn't have it in stock (or at all). The wait for prescriptions was super long for me on the rare occasions when I needed one. However, the employees are friendly enough, and if you are in this area it's the only CVS reasonably close so you might as well pop by. read more

I disagree with other reviewers. I have never written a review on Yelp before, but this is not just another CVS. I've been to CVS's all over the country, and this one stands out for being, frankly terrible. Having a parking lot saves it from being a 1. Why only 2 stars? Well, let's see. 1. I will never have another prescription sent here. They have lost 3 prescriptions in the past year (I've never had a CVS lose a prescription before), and one time they sent me home with a bag of diabetic needles that should have gone to my FIL. Even billed my insurance for them. Yeah, we have the same last name, but I'm guessing other people in this city do, too. And unlike the Sangamore CVS, where they are super helpful about calling other stores if they cannot fill a prescription, this one does not. I think it's just understaffed, rather than rude, but the customer experience is the same. 2. Prices that ring up are about half the time higher than the price marked on the shelf. Seriously. I thought I was losing my mind and I'm the person who notices at the checkout but doesn't usually say anything, but when buying medicine, sometimes this is a $5 difference. 3. It's nearly impossible to find someone to help you here. As other reviewers mentioned, when they renovated [last year?] they put in the self-check-out lines and I swear the store went downhill from there. I don't have a lot of experience pre-renovation, but I have the impression from neighbors that it was better then. Just had to say it. Go to the CVS at Sangamore or Tenleytown or the twenty CVSes along Wisconsin in Bethesda -- ANY other CVS. read more

I am new to the area from out of state and I did not feel welcomed. Awful. I haven't had my rx ready yet and I have been waiting for a month. They leave me a message that my rx is ready, I go there and they tell me nothing is ready. I have no idea where my rx went and I ask them to refill me another one but they say they can't because "refill date is not ready." Pharmacist is unreliable, they lost my rx and they are not resolving it. They should not be in health care. I have not been on meds for a month now. Very incompetent staff. read more

This is the 2nd time staff at this CVS really made my day. I'm a pretty low maint customer, and I was having trouble getting the self checkout to accept a 20% off coupon I had. A staffer, Nikki, came over did some magic and bam! I got the discount on the items I wanted and I was out of there and back on my way. This is the second time staff at this store was really helpful with a similar situation. I really like the service at this store and plan to make it my primary CVS store. read more
