    Vaccination check in....
    MM K.

Went in for a COVID vaccine (had appointment!) and was confronted with rude staff at pharma counter. Watched as pharmacist was rude to another customer (so I see from whence the problem stems!). Was very off-putting! Five staff at the counter and no one could be bothered to help people coming to counter. There is no queue, so it's surprising that addressing those who do come up is so difficult for them!!

    No mask mandate enforced.

Horrible pharmacy. Complete lack of customer service. Worst CVS I've ever been in. Pharmacists don't care.

Incredibly friendly, not a long wait, and easy to navigate. I just started using this as my pharmacy and I love how nice the staff is!

The Cathedral Commons CVS is such an asset to the neighborhood. The pharmacists are so helpful as is the entire staff.

If I could give negative stars I would. Blatantly rude pharmacist that was very confrontational and…read moredid not want to help with my prescription concerns. The pharmacist was a foreign bald dude with a slight beard. He should be fired. Was not willing to help with my prescription and clearly does not care about his job or the people his job is intended to cater for. My physician gave me an additional discount for my prescription that works at any CVS. I kindly asked the lady dealing with me if she would be able to apply the discount card. The man immediately interjected and said "We close at 7. Tomorrow." He then followed up with: "you have good insurance. You don't need more discount." Absolute A-Hole comment. Clearly is not happy with his job or life. I ended up just paying the difference because I did not want to deal with him or get into an argument. Truthfully ruined my day. They could've said no and been nice about it and given a reasonable explanation as to why they wouldn't accept it. But the rudeness and attitude was really over the top and is why I am writing this review. Do not go here unless you want to have your day ruined by rude people.

I'm a lay minister with many years of community service experience and I'm also studying theology…read morein grad school. I like to show grace whenever possible, so even when I have to go on Yelp to write about a bad experience, I try to be fair and constructive. But you know, I'm also human. First of all, the employee named Raheem either needs to be re-trained or has to be let go. I don't like calling out employees by name in reviews unless it's for good service but Raheem made me feel so uncomfortable that I'm forced to go public like this in the hope that it will foster change. Until Raheem rung up my merchandise, I had never had a retail experience -- at CVS or other stores -- where I was pressured to accept a subscription. Raheem was giving me the hard sell for the CVS CarePass, by giving me a song and dance about how CVS recognizes that Americans are going through hard times right now and that the company wants to help the community by giving away ten dollars off each total purchase. Blah blah blah. I'm not naive. We've all gone through our fair share of sales pitches for rewards clubs. But Raheem was going for it hard like he was the used care salesman of the CVS world. It was horrific. He wouldn't take No for an answer. He just kept going on and on about things like "But you can take the ten dollars now and cancel tomorrow." And in my head I was thinking, "I don't want to cancel tomorrow. I don't want to do ANYTHING that I DO NOT WANT to do tomorrow." In fact, I was very close to spitting out a lecture about consent. Instead, I just politely smiled and said variations of "no" with increasing firmness. And all the while, my mom was standing next to me, not knowing what to do. What's the moral of this story? That bad customer service experiences happen? Maybe. But the other moral of the story might be that you never know what a customer is going through, so learn to read the room -- or at least try not to make hard sells. You see, the thing is, this CVS is located within a 20 minute walk from MedStar Georgetown. I can only imagine how many people like my mom and I shop there: we are family members of a patient currently hospitalized at MedStar Georgetown. My dad had a stroke and he was helicoptered there from our home hospital in the suburbs to get better treatment. We got a hotel nearby so it would be easier to get to my dad every day during the early stages of his recovery. By the time we were at CVS tonight, we were tired and hungry after a long day of caring for my dad, and we had a lot of merchandise that needed to be rung up. The last thing we needed was Raheem making us feel like crap because we didn't want to accept his offer. While I'm on the subject, I didn't like the way Raheem's coworker -- a man whose name I didn't get, sadly -- scoldingly told me to take all my stuff out of my basket. On the one hand, I understand. But on the other, if you're gonna come at me like that for protocol, maybe you should keep the basket holders closer to the registers. What is the customer supposed to do when you snap at them to take all their stuff out of the basket? Trudge all the way over to the front doors in the middle of a transaction to replace the basket in the one basket holder in the whole store?! Is the cashier going to take the basket back from me after I empty it and place it behind the register? No instruction provided whatsoever. Just take your stuff out. If I wanted this kind of treatment, I would go shopping in the slums of my home country. "Show me your pockets!" I hate writing a review like this in which the antagonists are BIPOC folks. But you know the saying. Not all skin folk are kin folk. Avoid this CVS. Especially when you have loved ones at MedStar Georgetown. You will be demeaned and belittled far beneath whatever medical crisis has already sunk you to your lowest low.

The area is tricky for parking and is more likely to have a homeless person talking to unknown entities outside one of the entrances than other Arlington Cvs locations you might encounter. But I've been numerous times including several in the late night/wee hours in the morning (between 12am and 4am), and I've never had a problem with anyone or felt unsafe there as a result. It can be a bit unsettling initially though, depending on the person or persons and what they're saying and how crazy they sound saying it of course...and all of this may be more concerning for some than others (I've lived in quite a few "colorful" areas of big cities and this scene is more like those than standard suburban Arlington style...it doesn't bother me but it seems worth noting this in a review here). Anyway, once you find a parking spot and make your way inside (I usually choose whatever entrance is furthest from any ranting homeless person, but not always...depends on my mood), you'll find that the place is unexpectedly nice and well stocked. Makeup options are as good or better than any pharmacy in the area, including full selections of all the main lines (Revlon, Maybelline, Cover Girl, L'Oréal, etc, plus a better selection of Almay, Neutrogena, Physicians Formula, NYX, Milani, and other brands that are sometimes missing entirely or have a much more limited selection than you see here. The NYX and Almay selections are particularly good here and notably better than other pharmacies in the area. Skincare and hair care offerings are also solid and seem as good or better than the competition. Oh! And nail polish and nail care options are awesome! All sorts of fun stuff here. All of these as well as food and beverages and seasonal items are on the first floor. Interestingly, everything else is upstairs on the second floor. This includes pretty much all the things one might consider as staple items in a traditional pharmacy: medicine, first aid supplies, vitamins, supplements, other health items, and, you know...the actual pharmacy, with a pharmacist who dispenses prescriptions and all that good stuff. They're all there and well stocked. But they're all on the second floor. It's a bit odd. But it's all marked fairly well with signage at entrances and in large print on the walls, and more importantly, it's very easily accessible via escalators and an elevator towards the back of the store. In addition to the pharmacy, there's a pretty nice sized waiting area, a bathroom (which is nice because many pharmacies here do not have one now for some reason), along with aisles of medicines and all that good stuff. Cleaning supplies, other household items, office supplies, greeting cards and other sorts of things are also upstairs on that level. It's nothing spectacular but as good or better than any other pharmacies in the area. And definitely one of the best places you'll find open if you need something urgent after midnight or you're just a super night owl like me. It's a bummer that the pharmacy is not open 24 hours like the store itself. Confusing. But it's not. So. If you need a 24 hour pharmacy, this one is not going to help. For that, the Spout Run CVS at 3133 Lee Highway is the closest and best--if not the only--24 hour pharmacy option in Arlington. That last issue notwithstanding, this is a very good cvs with far more packed into its small footprint. And I've tried a lot of them.

They don't have the selection that the Courthouse CVS has, nor are things necessarily in stock. If you're nearby and crave junk food, it's fine, but if you order vitamins for pickup to use up some coupons, you may find that although the CVS app says the vitamins are in stock, it turns out that the vitamins were close to their expiration date, so they will cancel that part of your order. So, do not plan a trip here based on an item appearing to be in stock online. They should have taken the vitamins off the shelf before I ordered if the stock was that old. The Courthouse CVS has more product turnover and fresher inventory. This CVS is for casual visits with low expectations only. First time I tried to buy the two items on my list, it was noon on a weekday and the store was completely overrun with high school students from next door. The second time I tried, my two items, which were in two different locked cases, I had no way of knowing if after pressing the help button, would anyone ever show up to help me? The store is bright, open, well-organized and finally..... a CVS with shelves that are fully stocked with most of your essential items and not locked in cages everywhere! I love it this way and it makes the shopping experience much better and more efficient, than to have to wait, ring a bell, or flag someone down just to unlock cages and shelves to get your items. This is a rarity these days, given all the theft and "snatch n'grabs" going on with CVS locations in the DMV. Another added plus is that there is a MinuteClinic, HealthHub and Pharmacy all located in one at this location, which makes it convenient for getting all your shots, medication's and quick healthcare needs addressed with a nurse on site. Also, the staff here are very friendly and helpful. There were folks on the floor available to point you to anything you needed to find in the store. Not to mention, lots of great sales and this store is the perfect place for 'stacking" those CVS coupons! They truly come in handy and save you a good bit of dollars. I came in here today and stacked a couple of coupons against each other on my items, which saved me over half on my purchase from $78 dollars to $36!
