I'm going to give this store one star because of the nice pharmacy assistant who confided to me that it was her first day, and who smiled and was polite to me. I'm not even going to blame the other obviously overworked pharmacy employee who - when I called to ask if my prescription was ready - snapped, "You're fourth in line," and put me on hold. After an interminable wait - when I did get to talk to her - she demanded, "Can you afford this prescription?" When I assured her that I could, she admitted that it was ready, so I drove over from Kings Beach to pick it up for my daughter. I still had to wait, but the one pharmacist on duty did manage to find the time to tell me how to use it properly. As I said, I don't blame the employees - these problems trickle down from the very top. CVS - please, could you put a little bit of your money into this store? Hire enough help to see to it that your customers aren't treated like an inconvenience, and also please hire somebody to clean the place up. It looks like a bomb site, and many of your shelves are empty. Bottom line: I skedaddled out of there as fast as I could, and I probably won't go back willingly. read more

The customer service at this location is deplorable--there are quite a few other reviews before mine to give you more detail. But the manager on shift today was grossly rude to my aging not-so-tech-savvy mother when she asked about being able to use a coupon/credit she had received. As someone who has worked in several retail settings, I was beyond shocked at how this 'manager' was speaking to my mother, and rather than understanding that she was unaware of how to apply the credit, was addressing her almost as if she was trying to scam him...out of a few bucks. The best part was that he kept saying how "HIS customers" always correctly use their coupons--as if he wasn't managing a store equivalent to a grain of sand on the beach that is the largest pharmacy chain in the United States...l o l. So sad, in so many ways. Go to one of the other 10,000 CVS stores and avoid this location. read more

Perfectly fine. Store is maintained well and I can always find what I'm looking for. For those tourists who are in need of items like beach chairs or sun umbrellas, they have those stocked in the summer, no worries. Fire logs for camping? Yup. Cough drops. Right there. Nail polish? Well, apparently dumb and dumber work at this place. Called yesterday to ask if they carry specific medication, was told no, but they can order it and get it within a day or two once they receive a prescription. Today my MD left me a message saying that they tried calling it in and pharmacy told them they don't carry it. Called pharmacy back. Of course spent 7 mins on hold first, then was told they don't carry it and can't order it either. Total time spent 30 mins, frustration level high, results zero. Who are you people? read more

Total nightmare... I had a script written by my doc in Truckee. CVS then changed what my doctor had written (form of medicine cream vs ointment) and submitted that to my insurance. I went to pick up the script was told I either had to pay $230 cash or I had to get another script, they had submitted a cream when my doctor has specified ointment. I asked my doctor what was going on, he was pretty upset they had changed what he had written. He had prescribed an ointment and CVS deliberately changed it to a cream which made my insurance reject it and tried to charge me over $200 in cash. When I brought this up with them they admitted they had falsely changed and submitted the script on my behalf. This led me to not getting a necessary medication in time, huge stress for eme and additional effort from my doctor. Had they just dispensed the script as it was written we wouldn't have had an issue, my insurance would have accepted and I would have my meds. Honestly a nightmare!!! read more

Am new to Truckee and was running short on my prescription because I misplaced my meds. I went to the Pharmacist at CVS and the they looked me up in the system. They told me that they couldn't fill it because the insurance company would not allow it. I said I would gladly pay for the three days of meds and they explained that CVS would charge the full amount for an entire month regardless of the number of days! The pharmacist then said That they would give me enough meds to get me through until the renewal came through. They were so nice and understanding. I'll keep going back there! read more

2 month ago, I moved to Truckee and attempted to move my prescriptions to CVS in Truckee. It was definitely a challenge. The pharmacist, was not a easy person to deal with. He was extremely rude and ask me to continue to purchase my RXs from the pharmacy I was using prior after having some difficulty getting them transferred. I witnessed him yelling at an employee from my former pharmacy when they had difficulty finding my RX. As of today, only part of my RXs are at CVS. I am surprised looking at the reviews for this store that the Corporate headquarters hasn't stepped in and taken some action. The pharmacist needs to be working at a warehouse where he does not have to work with customers. I have been in the service business for many years and I know that the customer pays my salary. I have been coming to this pharmacy since it was Longs but lately every time I come I have a bad experience. One time they put the wrong labels on the medication. When I brought it in and showed it to them they said "that's okay, we probably mixed up the labels." Actually they had printed the same label twice and put it on two different medications. Luckily I had the print out describing the pills. Lately every time I come in the line is very long and they are understaffed. This time the pharmacist got mad at me because he couldn't find my prescription and when the doctor asked to talk to him he wouldn't talk to himuntil the doctor called him directly. when the doctor asked for his phone number, the pharmacist rolled his eyes and cursed. This was the last time I am using CVS. Definitely changing to rite aid. read more

Actually, not that bad of a store, but I am reducing a star because with the CVS takeover, they gutted all the cool random stuff this store used to stock like cheap rubber boots and camo jackets. I didn't explore it too much, but now, their aisles are really wide because they sell less products and the shelves seem bare, like we're in some soviet economy. This place is horrible. I waited 20 minutes on hold for the pharmacy to finally get the rudest person on the other line. I will never go here even if I have to drive all the way to Tahoe City for their CVS. He was beyond insulting and kept saying how he needed over 24 hours to refill a birth control. I get that he is the only one there today but no need to be offensive and to remind me 10 times on the call he is backed up. Very polite employees each time that I have been in this store. I was there last night and the guy working at the register was alone with a huge line of people, and he handled the situation very well. He made jokes, and interacted with each customer. I never go to any other pharmacy other than CVS in Truckee. I'm SHOCKED by some of the reviews I've read here as my experience with the pharmacy / Dan (pharmacist) has never been anything but stellar! The technicians and pharmacist all know me and my daughter by name (and I'm only there 1x a month ulness someone is sick). I have always received consults when requested without issue and questions answered until I'm comfortable. Dan has always been helpful and has even provided suggestions / options to discuss with my doctor as I've recently developed some medication allergies. Nothing but a top notch pharmacy. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that I've had some issues with cashiers at the front. read more

Zachery the new Pharmacist at CVS is very polite and explains anything if you have any questions. I never had an issue with the last pharmacist Dan, but have seen how he treated people in front of me and know of too many people to count in Truckee that would refuse to come to CVS just because he worked there and of how he treated people. Even though we kept going to CVS, we still walked on eggshells when he was there. Now I am able to go pick up my blood pressure and cholesterol medicine without worrying that he would get mad or snap like I had watched happen so many times over the years to others, including my parents. I was surprised that someone could be that mean and still have a job after all these years. I just figured he had a special "in" because no company would lose so much business over one "rotten apple" and keep it in the "barrel" to destroy the companies reputation without a good reason. I am acutally excited to tell my friends and family (some go all the way to Reno to get their prescriptions, all because they were told by Dan to find a different pharmacy since it was too complicated to do a transfer of pharmacies) that they can come back to CVS now without fear of being demeaned, yelled at or just treated like dog crap. The new pharmacist was the best thing that CVS could do and its been a long time coming. It appears from my 2 interactions with the new pharmacist that they found someone with excellent customer service skills and a good personality too! Thank you CVS for finally solving this problem. The pharmacist I've dealt with is Dan Francke, RPh, he is a highly antagonistic man, loves to passively/aggressively toy with you. If you get angry he walks away and won't service your account. CVS has a new policy that requires you to have a local doctor prescribe a controlled substance which I only found out via this pharmacist, I travel and was out of my pain meds so I brought my prescription in from my doctor in San Diego, Ca. He looked at it and told me he wouldn't fill it, at first he played like he was making this decision, only after I got angry did he tell me CVS has this new thing where they don't want to get in trouble with the DEA. I even asked if my doctor could contact them, after all my prescriptions have always been filled by CVS at both San Diego and Truckee. Nope, he says, not only that he walked away from me and wouldn't even offer me some alternatives. I suffer from debilitating nerve damage and pain so I could barely cope with this setback but if he had given me some clue as to what I could do to get this prescription filled I would've loved it. I found a boutique pharmacy called Tahoe Forest Pharmacy that helped me out with no problems at all. Everyone I spoke with in every pharmacy I went too knew of this guy, none of them understood how he still had a job. Turned all my prescriptions over to Safeway pharmacy and my Hydrocodone will be filled at Tahoe Forest Pharmacy. read more

This pharmacy is terrible, Dan the head pharmacist is a complete jerk. Trying to fill a prescription for my husband I over hear Dan talking horribly about my husband PCP and I did not like that. I said to him I didn't agree with his words and thought that he shouldn't be talking about a doctor that way and he then went off on me told me to never fill my prescriptions there again. It was horroble. I Called The Store Manager Over and as I was explaining to him what happened Dan came out and yelled at me again. An hour later the store manager called and said we r welcome to fill our prescription s there anytime. I will never go back there. The rudest pharmacist I have ever encountered. Do not go here. The pharmacy is hands down the worst in all of Tahoe. The manager of the pharmacy is arrogant and rude at best. He also tends to swear a lot even if children are around. I highly recommend that anyone in the Tahoe area use any pharmacy but this one. The pharmacy will also mislead you in prices instead of being honest and straight forward. Only after they have sold the product will they be honest. This place is an absolute disgrace. read more

Hideous service from the pharmacy. I had a prescription filled for painkillers (separated shoulder), pharmacy person said it would be 10 to 15 minutes, I explained I had just gotten out of the hospital and would be happy to wait if it could be done fairly quickly, otherwise I could come back later. They said to wait. After standing around for 1 1/2 hours, it was finally done, multiple times they said "yours is next, it will only be a couple more minutes". Probably the worst service I have ever seen and outright lying on top of it. After it was all done, I asked to talk to the manager, some 22 year old kid came out who should not have been a customer facing employee (no social skills whatsoever). It is obviously very hard to get quality employees for these low paying jobs in Tahoe... too bad. Do not use this store, try somewhere else like Tahoe city if you must deal with a pharmacy while in the Truckee Tahoe area. I'd give zero stars if possible..... read more

Today, I had the WORST experience with the pharmacist Dan Francke. He is EXTREMELY rude and denied service for my prescription. He should NOT be in a job with a customer facing role or companies are going to have complaints. I called in my prescription 3 days ago and Dan stated that it was filled and then returned to the shelves. This is a mistake on their part, not mine and he refused to refill my prescription until the next day. I have terrible asthma. Because of the fault of the pharmacy, I am unable to get my inhaler which can be detrimental to my health. This is unacceptable. read more

Came here to receive money from money gram with all my identification and my reference number that the money gram customer service told me to have. Get there and a girl help me she was really kind, polite and have positive attitude. I was almost done with everything and was waiting to get cash but she has to call her manager for me to receive the cash since she doesn't have the authority for that much of cash. Here comes the boss Jerry... started all over again which was not even needed... ask me my identification, reference number, which I already gave to the girl and now he said identification doesn't match ....you must be kidding me it was good to go a minute ago and now all of a sudden it doesn't match....rudely he told me to call the customer service...well I did and there was nothing to change..back in line and he said now I am good to go...very unprofessional and rude... finally got my money...was there at 9 am and was out by 10:45am ...fast service lmao...1 Star is just for the nice, kind employee who help me first. I would like to give 0 stars to this phamacy... Although they rate a 10 on rudeness! After Walgreens no longer took my Blue Cross insurance, I moved to another pharmacy and since we travel, looked for one that had a national presence. CVS took over the Long's store in my hometown of Truckee, so settled for them. Only the third time I picked up my monthly meds here, I was waiting in line while they helped the person in front of me, talking to a friend on my cell phone. After the other customer in front of me left, the counter man ignored me. I assumed he was busy finishing up something, so continued my conversation and waited. After several minutes, I approached the counter and told my friend on the phone to "please hold one moment". When I said I was there to pick up my perscription, he ignored me. So I looked at the woman in the window, requesting help and she said in a not so nice voice, "Mam, when you are off the phone we will help you". WHAT?! Lets start with the fact that I am almost 60, they are both younger, that I consider myself fairly well mannered and a relatively worldly person, but I was shocked! I immediatly got off the phone to address this. The two phamacy workers both started talking about how they don't help people who are on the phone and how I WAS BEING RUDE!!! Excuse me, what happened to customer service? When did picking up a perscription become a social interaction necessitating full focus? Now I understand, and appreciate a no phone zone sign in a restaurant or social club, but as there are no signs in the CVS requesting this, I never dreamed that the workers would feel as if they could chastise customers rather rudely about the phone. Last I checked, it was acceptable to say "please hold a moment while I tend to..." and do so, be it address the counter person, order lunch, a drink or whatever. There was another person behind me in line, talking on the phone and I trurned to her, saying you'll need to get off the phone, since they don't help people on the phone here. The counter man then asked me to stop harassing their customers in a loud voice! This was getting rich. I picked up my medicine, asked what I needed to do to change my perscriptions to the Rite Aide in town and left. However, as I walked out, I thought about it and decided someone in charge needed to be apprised of this bad behavior on the part of their employes. If I were a business owner, this sort of behavior would never be tolerated and believe me I would want to know. I asked for the manager and a nice young man of about 23 listened and assured me that not only would he speak to the pharmacy workers, but would also tell his store manager about this problem. No matter, they just lost a good client. I spent over $90.00 there that one transaction and go to the phamacy at least twice a month. Furthermore, as I actually live in this resort town, I wonder how they treat the many visitors to our beautiful town if this is how they treat the locals whom they rely on when it is 'off season'. Please join me in honoring good service by NOT encouraging this sort of rudeness and boycott the Truckee CVS! read more

Mid day on 12/27/15, my doctor prescribed me Tylenol with Codeine for severe pain in my tooth. I was told it would be ready in a few hours. I went to the pharmacy and arrived very close to closing time (5:00 pm). The door to the pharmacy area was still open and as I was standing there to get help, a man shut the door in my face. I was shocked as it was 5:00 on the dot and the door had been open when I arrived. I asked through the glass if they were open and he snarled "we're closed" I said "it is 5:00" he proceed to say "now it is 5:01". I explained that I was in a lot of pain and that I really needed the medicine. His response was "if you were in so much pain, you should have gotten here earlier". I was shocked at this level of rudeness, poor customer service and mostly, at the lack of compassion by this man. As it turns out, it was the Pharmacy Manager, Dan Francke (photo posted matched his face). Absolutely a horrible person and shouldn't be heading a pharmacy with that manner. read more

My husband had surgery and needed a pain med. The clerk in Pharmacy apologized that she could not fill because a spot on the prescription was blank. I walked away and walked back for a clarification. The Pharmacist without being asked came down and treated me like a Meth head. The rudest person in this position no diplomatic skills at all. I was so upset the f bomb came out. Not to be outdone the Pharmacist dropped the F bomb too then yelled down the aisle as I left. Left word for the Manager on my way out and spoke later on the phone to apologize and complain. Also the Pharmacist called my husband to tell him no prescriptions would ever be filled there because I dropped the F bomb yet made no apologies for his behavior. I have learned that he has done this several times. He should not be around the public or in this position. On a good note we are moving all prescriptions over to the recently remodeled Rite Aid by Safeway. Friendly helpful staff. read more

I get excellent service and support from our local CVS pharmacy, Dan and his staff, where I have filled my scrips for 10 years. They have a busy business in our small town, but they never hesitate to serve me thoroughly and carefully. Dan has helped me repeatedly with the medications I take, answering questions and counseling on potential side affects or interactions with other medications. If I struggle to get a prescription filled, the staff is always knowledgeable and explains the process I need to follow to get it done. I'm surprised by the poor commentary here on yelp, and suggest that, if you read between the lines, these customers were basically angry because the pharmacy would not violate State laws and CVS policies--come on folks, your lack of planning is not the fault of the person behind the counter. And yelling doesn't solve anything--it does however embarrass everyone around you. Please treat our pharmacy staff with the respect they deserve. :-) read more
