CVS now has a wildly incompetent terrible AI running its pharmacy phones, it is now very difficult to refill prescriptions because the ai "assistant" is incredibly stupid and longwinded. Whoever is in charge of CVS's ai phone scripts should be fired immediately. read more

Hate to add to all of the negative reviews, however definitely not a good experience. As a retired pharmacist, I know we can definitely be a little bit more critical, however my wife had to transfer a prescription up here since I was stuck in Truckee all day. They had a guarantee for it to be ready at 9:40 AM. I went in at 11 AM and there was only a pharmacist Behind the counter. He was filling prescriptions and there was a bit of a line. He did not acknowledge or talk to anyone, I called out to him to let him know that I was just picking up a prescription, he told me there were two people in front of me and that I had to wait. I asked him how long the wait was, he told me five minutes. I let him know that the prescription is ready, and he ignored me. I stood at the counter waiting, he did tell me that I could have a seat, and he would not forget my position in line. He apparently had no cashier, techs or anyone assisting him. The phone kept ringing off the hook and there was a voice over the intercom letting the pharmacist know there was a pharmacy call. He completely ignored it. Finally when it was my turn, I told him my wife called in the prescription transfer from Reno as she's a pharmacist. He had a hard time locating it, mostly because... It was not even looked at. By now it was noon, one hour waiting, for a guaranteed ready by 9:45 AM. No I do understand that it was not the pharmacist fault. He was a traveling pharmacist, however not having any text or any cashiers is definitely corporate's fault or at least the store manager. There were no less than five clerks walking around stocking things on the shelf, would've been very easy to have a cashier in the pharmacy. If the corporation would pay their techs better and their counter help, then this wouldn't happen. read more

I had a very positive experience yesterday at the Truckee CVS. I forgot to bring an important medication with me on a 4 night trip to Truckee, and I have Kaiser, so i needed to connect CVS with them to get the prescription transferred. I was nervous that I could only leave a voicemail message, but 2 hours after I left the message I got a text that my scrip was ready for pick-up, and I waited less than 5 minutes to collect it from the store. The young person who helped me was very polite and efficient. By the way, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, call the Kaiser Advice Nurse and ask for the direct phone number that an external pharmacy can use to reach them. That's the most efficient way to manage it, according to Kaiser. read more

I was on a mission to find a low slung beach chair. Having been to 3 other local stores which ranged from a hardware store to a drug store. I had no luck until I hit upon this CVS. The staff was so helpful. Various staff advised me of the Buy One beach chair and get another for 50% off. They checked inventory. Great. The cashier was a sweetheart, very fun personality. Plus she was speedy ringing up transactions without rushing the customers. Overall not bad CVS. Hey, it's better stocked and organized than my local CVS in Sacramento. Absolutely horrendous. Go anywhere else. Seriously. Go to Reno! It'll be faster and more efficient. We were texted that our prescription was ready. Went to go get it yesterday and it was not at all. Then, went to pick it up today... they don't even have the entire prescription, just half of it... and that was after waiting 30 minutes to even be greeted. Seriously this place blows. The. Seriously, screw this place. I started coming here in March 2020 because they were one of the only pharmacies that carried infertility drugs in the Tahoe area. Something has seriously gone downhill since then. On one occasion I had to wait over 3 hours for a prescription, even though they had over a weeks notice. I live in Incline so I drove around and tried to kill time. The other day I had to pick up an RX and they waited until well passed 9:00am to open + acknowledge me. Now, I'm recovering from a surgery and my RX was automatically called into this pharmacy... I was on hold for 15 minutes and they hung up. I'm not even trying to use these guys anymore, I just wanted to transfer my RX. Seriously negligent and absolutely ridiculous. read more

This pharmacy is terrible. On hold forever. After 30 minutes they never bothered to pickup the phone. I'm here on vacation and glad this isn't my normal CVS. I'd be moving all my prescriptions to Walgreens or drive to Canada. It would probably be quicker. EDIT: When I finally got my prescription in person (they never answer their phones) they put my medicine in a bottle for someone else. I freaked out because I took one before looking at the bottle. I thought I took a controlled substance, and I was PISSED. I had to look up what my pills looked like to verify they were indeed antibiotics just in a bottle for some other person. read more

Their customer service is not bad, it's terrible!! They don't answer the phone for customers! The only way to get a hold of someone is pretending that you are a prescriber! They do the bare minimum and want to blame everything on "people from the Bay Area" I had a prescription that was rejected for refill too soon, if they would've done their job, they could've gotten that reject overwritten but no, they failed to call the PBM processing the claim to get the override like they should've off, if they provided good customer service I work in the industry and it's a shame that I've had repeated issues with this pharmacy. This store looks like a Government run operation in a 3rd World country. I went to get cough medicine and there was only 1 brand, Delsym, offered. I was charged almost double what is suggested online. Taking advantage of the Tourists and burning people who live here. Safeway had the same product for recommended retail cost. Really like the retail staff, but both Dan and a woman tech I spoke with were quite rude and seemed to have no compassion. I witnessed the elderly lady in front of me get yelled at for trying to pay before she's shown the pharmacist her ID. The woman that "helped" me told me that I better figure something out on my own because it wasn't her job to help me. Nice CVS. Bright and clean. Friendly service. They had what I was looking for. Convenient parking. Slightly above-average.

The pharmacist and his colleague behind the register Bill and Paul could both use a course in customer service. Only after 12 mins of being open they were already annoyed with the 3 customers they had in line and think they are God's dictating how and when they will refill prescriptions. People go to a pharmacist when they are in need and in our case had a son that just had emergency surgery. We already have enough to deal with don't need attitudes added to an already stressful situation. read more

This is an older CVS, but it is quite large. They had everything I needed and I was able to check out quickly.

I would give 0 if I could, 2 hours on hold with the pharmacy. I spoke to the lead within the store and he said flat out they won't answer the phone, you have to Come In here otherwise your outta luck! Once I move this prescription I will not be going back! read more

I have never felt compelled to write a review for a pharmacy until now...but I have to admit I am blown away by the staff here. Both of the pharmacists have gone above and beyond for me as a patient. I am on a prescription that requires constant attention and interaction with my pharmacist. I have found that I am considered a nuisance, and I am judged by other pharmacies. David (and the other pharmacist, I can't remember his name) are extremely compassionate, I feel that they are genuinely concerned with my well being rather than judging me. They have fought with me (against medi-cal) every step of the way, and I will literally follow them wherever they go (if they leave cvs ...please don't!) I have seen David pay for a patients medication out of his own pocket, while the patient was screaming at him. He has walked prescriptions out to me in the snow, when I couldn't get my two babies out of their car seats. We are lucky to have such a wonderful rx staff in our little town. I hope they stick around! read more

Worst pharmacy experience to date. One gentleman told me to wait 2 days because of all the 'transients'. My mom lives here and I am a nurse. I called again and a woman told me to give her an hour. They tell you when to pick up your meds at a certain time and make you wait an hour. I will never come here again. Hire more people! read more

So appreciative that in this rough time- low pay, high rent struggles in this tourist town especially, there are still kind customer service centered individuals. Had an appointment today for the COVID booster vaccine. I waited in a line at the check-in for 20 minutes, only to be told that they are out of vaccine. I know it's a crazy time and things like this can happen. However, not calling or emailing to cancel is completely on them. I had driven 30 minutes to this appointment. I know CVS is going through tough times, but they won't come through them OK if this is indicative of how they treat their remaining customers. read more

We understand difficult pandemic times we've all been coping with since March 2020. We also wish that corporate retail teams need to do all they can to support their struggling chains. Hiring issues extra support while waiting for employees to onboard, incentives for housing to acquire and retain anyone having to move here during this housing shortage and higher prices. We have been Truckee residents since 1976 and have used (Longs) now CVS for prescriptions for many years... and like the convenience of having access to prescriptions in other CVS's if needed ie traveling to my elderly parents for lengths of time in San Jose and to children/grandchildren in San Diego . Unfortunately the last few years have been very disappointing in our own home town... hold times on phone w pharmacy up to 57 minutes before hanging up , 5 prescriptions ready only to get there and truly only 2 are ready etc etc.. I appreciate finally today ... after 2 1/2 weeks of attempts to get prescriptions released from CVS to local competitor to try out I'm getting resolve... Mark the MGR is working his hardest to help us. We may be back to CVS but for now we need a different experience... and someone who actually answers phone... for example I've been laid up last 4 weeks after knee replacement surgery... and my husband has been into CVS 9-12 customers in line long... in response to text prescriptions ready only to get up there and they aren't!! One example of repeated issues... We know it's not any one persons fault yet when you NEED doctor prescribed medications in a timely manner and the pharmacy is overwhelmed.. they need help and so do the customers/patients... so for now we are taking our prescriptions elsewhere... Praying CVS gets the help they need to do better by our community and their current overworked staff. Thank you Mark for FINALLY answering-a phone helping pharmacy staff out. This 1star does not reflect some of the staff that are trying their best... only overall satisfaction at this moment in time. Out and about while we were in Tahoe we dropped by for an alcohol run and surprisingly they had my soap pouches. Which I hadn't seen in ages! They're basically a loofa that cinches closed with your soap inside it and are absolutely fantastic! I bought them out. Service was good, adhearing to the 'three in line it's time' rule of thumb, but they had a very minimal champange choice (as did the Savemart next door) Finally, the fleece throws were 2.50. Man, with those prices I could rule the fleece world! read more

As soon as I approached the empty pharmacy, the pharmacy tech told me that the pharmacist was on lunch break and to go to RiteAid or Safeway because it would be a minimum of 2 hours before they could get to me. 1:45 pm on a Monday. Is there a way to give negative stars? The pharmacy has consistently the worst service. Consistently. It doesn't matter if your prescription was sent several hours before, several days before or is automatically refilling; they will never have it ready. Never. Without fail it takes multiple trips for us to get our prescriptions. Once to tell the to fill it, once to come back in several hours when it's *supposed* to be ready, and a third time when it finally is ready. Some how the pharmacist was late showing up, or just stepped out every time. We've started sending our prescriptions to Auburn because the drive there and back ends up shorter than the time it takes CVS. read more

Stop by here after a day of snowboarding. Thought it would be nice to get some ice hot for our sore muscles. The store was nice and neat. Seem regularly maintained. The reasons I'm giving this location a 2 star is because of the cashier June. She was super friendly to everyone ahead of us. She smiled and greeted them. Often them a cvs card. And wished them a happy holiday. Then when she rang us up it was complete silence. I got a very hostile feeling from her. The only thing she said to us was the total price of our purchase. This was blatant discrimination and I'm very upset about it. I won't forget this June! And you will be hearing from me! read more

Prescription sent July 23rd from Doctor electronically and a receipt confirmed. CVS computer lost the prescription. I had to call Doctor to resend the prescription again on August 13. CVS Truckee is short staff and can not provide the service needed by customers. I will be looking to move my prescriptions to another venue. read more

I have seen them maintain composure when yelled at by tourists and help the local community despite the challenges of the pandemic. We are fortunate to have them. read more

Never in my whole life been treated so poorly by a worker. Tall male with glasses. This was the store not pharmacy, know one was at registers he was talking for awhile to a customer and there was a lady using self check waiting for his help and I went to use the other self help and first item I rang up said that I needed cashiers help so I turned and just raised my hand so he new I needed him when he was done. In a loud voice he says to me 'Don't put your hand up I'm talking to someone'. I said I was not pushing you just letting you know when your done I need help. He said it so loud and rude my husband said let's go. I will never go into this store again. read more

The kindness of the poor woman working the pharmacy counter was the only saving grace of this place. The pharmacist said he was not answering any phone calls at all, and I watched an elderly man plead with him to speak on the phone with his doctor to confirm his medications, and the pharmacist simply shook his head and hid behind the counter. He then told me it wasn't fair for him to have to fill my emergency prescription since the weather was probably going to be good enough for me to drive home the next day anyways. And he turned me away without another word. I sincerely hope that nobody dies as a result of his incompetence, and I'm not saying that facetiously. There was a man in line behind me who literally had an oxygen tank and had been waiting for five days for his lung and heart medication. The ugliness and selfishness of some people is appalling. I understand that these are difficult times and that compromises need to be made. I am fortunate in the sense that the repercussions of waiting a few days for my medications will not kill me, but that is not the case for everyone. I sincerely hope that, unlike myself, the other clients at this pharmacy can receive the medical care they need without being forced to endure the complaining of a pharmacist who clearly has no compassion for the suffering of anyone but himself. read more

Incredibly poor service at the pharmacy. Scheduled 2 appointments on line for vaccine shot and had to wait over 30 minutes because they were busy. No other people waiting for shots however. What is the point of an online registration system if they can't manage to it?!! read more

Although this is supposed to be a pharmacy, they are not able to fill prescriptions in timely manner. Sometimes takes 2-3 days! They are woefully understaffed. They have to bring pharmacists in from Sacramento or, like ALL OTHER STAFF MEMBERS, they drive in from Reno. They must not pay their people sufficiently. I don't see how this operation can stay open. read more

I am so angry with this pharmacy, I will NEVER go back. I live in Europe and am in US for the holidays, I forgot one of my medications and so I asked a friend who is a doctor to write a prescription, generic, cause I know the name brand is expensive. I do not have medical insurance in U.S. Got to pharmacy, and they said they only had xyz, so originally I was going to order 90 days, but it would've cost over $300, so I lowered it to 30 pills which would cost a one/third. Keep in mind the generic is only $14 for 100 pills at Costco. Then I ordered another medication, and it was $44, but they NEVER told me up front what the cost was, assuming since it was inexpensive I went ahead and ordered it, but when I went to pick it up and they told me it was $44 I cancelled, it; however, I need the first prescription because I didn't have any at all. They're not even looking out for the customer to find out what's the most cost effective way to buy medication, especially for those who do not have healthcare. I've been to Walgreen's at least they made suggestions. I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER, GO BACK!!!!!! Recommendation, if you don't need the medication right away, go to Costco or call a pharmacy to see if they have generics. read more

Prescriptions are never ready on time. Even when they have a five day lead, they can't seem to fill prescriptions in a timely fashion.. and should you arrive 45 mins before closing and then spend the next 45 minutes waiting in line for service they won't serve you once they're "closed". read more
