Awesome workers here... No, Truckee is an expensive place to live. And shopping is tough especially when you compare it to Reno. But I stop in here once in a while to see if they have any good deals. Today I stopped in to see if they had any five dozen eggs because the wife wanted me to bring eggs home. According to one of the assistant managers, they have a shortage of dairy products and though they have quite a few different types of eggs, there were no 60 packs. Right now the five dozen are $8.99. After leaving, I saw that they had just received a huge shipment and there was a large semi truck parked in the parking lot unloading tons of pallets. So I called back and the girl who answered the phone was extremely nice and went to check and see if they did in fact get some eggs in their delivery. Very nice and courteous. Greeted with a smile. Amazing Store, Amazing Owners. Ran Superbly, down to earth employees. Clean store, clean bathrooms. Great Prices. Hoping for LeCroix instead of Polar Bear Fizzy Water. Le Croix has a bit more flavor. Organic Grass Fed beef from Oregon is the best! Diamond Ranch is pretty good too. They carry both You can hit some un-believable sales sometimes which I use for buying stuff for our 1x a month church potluck and occasionally, ourselves. Living in the SF bay area, I have shopped at numerous Grocery Outlets stores in cities from Daly City to Watsonville and the Truckee store surpasses all the other places by far. From the cheery, beautiful appearance of the entrance with even a mini pumpkin patch complimented by healthy mums of all hues, to an attractive, pleasantly organized shop indoors with so many high end products, the Truckee store is great and offers a lovely, comfortable place to shop. read more

I had read that there was one of these stores in Truckee so I just had to check it out last week when I was heading to the river. I was shocked at how beautiful it was inside and out... I went to the Reno one yesterday and spoke to the manager about it. The town made sure that they made the store "fit in" to the Truckee asthetic. Inside the store was pristine and very large. It's always nice to go into a new store. I wish we had this when we lived over in Truckee! I bet the town made them build it so it would fit in the natural surroundings. I mean the store in Reno is very basic In design and structure. This building was gorgeous! The strawberries were so fragrant I had to get 1/2 flat. They were delicious. They have certain items that I just love for very reasonable prices! The thing is like most discount stores when you go back they don't have it anymore. So I suggest when you find items that you love, look at the expiration date and stock up! They had this wonderful mouthwash that was like $3 per bottle and at CVS it's more like $10. I wish I had purchased all of them at the time. The most important thing at these type of discount stores is to always ! Check the expiration dates. read more

What an unpleasant shopping experience. Just about everything I selected was long expired. Many items had damaged and open packaging. The strawberries were rotten. I saw two rats scurrying around nibbling on product. The owners are area transplants from other areas and are very much not a part of the community. Watch out for the husband - he's a nasty guy who screams at employees and vendors. His wife had some suspicious looking bruises on her. Shop elsewhere. read more

This is by far the best grocery store in Truckee in my opinion. Fair prices, fresh produce and always a good selection of meats. Sometimes I have to stop by Safeway after a trip to Grocery Outlet to pick up a few missing ingredients, but overall, we're very happy with the selection, prices and friendly employees. The store is always very clean. I also appreciate their banana program where my toddler can have a banana for free on each visit. She really looks forward to her banana while shopping. We visit this location 3-4 times a week and we have zero complaints. read more

Third time I've bought spoiled meat from here , I'll never be coming back very poor options and prices are very high

Clerks in this store are rude and stuck up. Don't give a flying fk about customer service or even basic common courtesy. On top of that, the clerk price gouged me .15 for ONE plastic bag, plus tax of .01 sales tax on that bag. Consumers in CA are being gouged on EVERYTHING. Grocery Outlet Truckee has OK prices but really limited product selection and they make up for lower prices by overcharging for bags? Snotty checkers need to go. This is a bad management indication and a bad business practice and I won't shop there again. read more

We always stop here to grab food for the weekend. There are a ton of vegan items, quick snacks, and beverages so we do not have to pre-pack our car before driving up to Truckee. Clean store, friendly people and we have yet to not find an item we were looking for. Parking is never an issue. read more

This is the best grocery outlet on the planet and the best grocery tote in truckee. So I have been in Truckee for over 20 years and it was a blessing when we got this store. Clean, organized, great selection and lots of plant based and vegan foods which is awesome. Obviously some stuff is hit or miss on inventory but still worth the trip. I won't lie. It wasn't thrilled at the idea of a grocery outlet because most of my experiences have been pretty terrible with the franchise. I was also a bit concerned regarding the location. However grocery outlet has proved to be a wonderful community member to the Truckee Tahoe region. They're generous giving during the pandemic as well as support of fire evacuees during the Caldor fire really shows they are a part of our community. They have a great organic selection, probably the best price on organic chicken in town. Like most grocery outlets I cannot do all my shopping there so I split my shopping between grocery outlet and new moon. I can typically get everything I need between those two stores. One suggestion I do have for those going to the store for the first time. Be conscious how you park. I had to get creative with that parking lot given the location. So just be mindful of the ends, the outs, and not using the neighborhood as a shortcut read more

My favorite store in town! So lucky they chose to open this in Truckee. I find myself going here for immediate meal ingredients. There are so many great finds; both unique and common grocery stores finds. I've bought all my Xmas decorations here, as well. So cheap! And always enjoy the chat while checking out. So yes, I am a Grocery Outlet patron. Funny thing is that I got so much flack from a friend the other day for saying I go there. We were talking about what we ate for dinner. He was saying that he had a steak that was so good. I replied that I just went to Truckee for the weekend and ate a steak too. Told him I bought it from Grocery Outlet. A grass fed, organic steak. He looked at me with a look of disgust. Said that he was taken back that I would even shop there. He said there stuff is garbage. I had to rebuke him. Told him I have been shopping at the Outlets for years. Told him the beef is excellent. I go for their beef, chicken and salmon. They stock excellent quality. Yes they do have lower cheeper grades of meat too. But they also carry great quality. So back to the review. This is by far the best G.O. I have ever been too. It is absolutely immaculate inside. The isles are super organized and full. The meat/poultry area is huge and has so much to pick from. If you are in Truckee, make sure to visit this place. read more

I shop at three other Grocery Outlets. The prices are good and the stores are generally clean. That is why I shop at these stores. The Truckee store does not train its workers in the basics of customer service. If the store intends to survive beyond novelty, managers must coach employees on basic polite and helpful interactions with customers. Otherwise, buyers will find bargain elsewhere. read more

I want to start by saying this store when they first opened was amazing. Staff was so friendly and the product was beyond affordable. Over time they their product and prices slowly started resembling Safeway. Their staff as well became distant and at times very rude. Especially one particular staff. I let the first rude encounter go at the register thinking maybe "TRENT" was just having a bad day however today TRENT was the same if not worst than before. This person should not be front of house dealing with customers. TRENT should be in the stock room. I said "hi, hello how is your day going?" He did not respond. He then looked at me gave me my total. I then paid and I then said to him "thank you, I hope you have a good rest of your day".. he never looked at me and then said nothing to me and handed me my receipt. I was so put off I looked at the bagger and the bagger who is always supper nice looked at me and smiled like he was sorry and I left. I feel like I should at this point just go to Safeway if I am going to not get the price break anymore and now be treated like a number instead of the Family experience I used to get. read more

I've been to this store 3 times since they opened. We've chugged 6 bottles of great wine at less that $7 each. This store reminds me of trader Joe's way back in the early days: interesting stuff at half price. And, joy of overstock, they have peppermint ice cream in july! I love this store! read more

As a local I can assure the entire town has been awaiting the opening of this store. I shopped here on opening day and it was a beautiful experience. The produce department is outstanding. In case you don't already know, you will find tremendous savings here compared to other stores in town. This will become my go-to place to shop and I am looking forward to all the money I will save.
