The reviews here are honest and accurate. The pharmacy staff are unhelpful and rude often. They aren't interested in doing what they need to in order to get you your medication. If it isn't perfectly easy for them they send you back to handle it yourself. They have some weird rule that they don't accept digital prescriptions, which a lot of doctors do, and I've never had this issue with any other CVS besides this location. Half of my prescriptions "mysteriously" never reach them and they don't care. In general they are rude no matter what the situation is. And of course, this isn't every single employee. But it's a majority and the management clearly doesn't care enough to make a change because they get paid regardless. Shame on the management for allowing this toxicity to continue. read more

This is for the Pharmacy only! Go somewhere else! Every time I use their service, something goes wrong. Last week my girlfriend had to pick up 2 antibiotics, B6 vitamins, and an inhaler. The clerk by the name of Araselia (who was rude) said the insurance does not cover the inhaler ($47) and the B6 pills would not be given to us because they sell it over the counter. The B6 makes sense but the doc prescribes it because the insurance covers a good chunk of the pills so why not... I dont understand why they even have a say in it... Give the pills and bill the insurance.... DO YOUR JOB! The second issue was that insurance apparently does not cover the inhaler... We went back today and asked another tech to check the price again and she said its $20 and insurance does cover the inhaler... This really annoyed us because we had asked her to double check as we knew it was covered in which she said she did. Overall the attitude and lack of help really turned us off, there is another pharmacy down to the street, I would recommend going there. read more

We went in at 9pm after my wife had just come out of the hospital to get 2 prescriptions filled. "15 minutes" we were told. 40 minutes later it was finally done. Since we were new customers w/ a new phone-number it was surprising that no explanation was done for these (potent) medicines. Staff is nice, but not effective at running the prescription counter. Love the 24 hour open times. The counter service is often 50/50, either really friendly and nice, or someone who's soul seems dead inside from overwork. Sometimes they've given me confusing instructions and sent me off before I could ask questions. They deal with long lines efficiently. I've had to wait a while but NEVER watched them work so slow that I got angry. Convenient spot to pick up meds since it's right near my school. Will keep coming back. read more

This CVS is busy. The pharmacy almost always has a line and at points it seems they are understaffed. I find it ridiculously inconvenient to come here, and a tedious process. Please be aware of this pharmacy location #9670 located on Tarzana blvd. This review based on my hard experiences with the pharmacists there, because the front desk technicians were always so helpful and willing to make extra effort to help me resolved the issues. 1st time, this pharmacy gave me 3 months supplies and the expired date at only 1 month , so which meant my 2nd and 3rd month packages would be expired by the time my daughter take them. 2nd time and 3rd time which was just happened yesterday, I went in to pick up medications which was called in to refilled since last week and CVS text message were sent to alert me that order is ready, they gave us a different medication and when i asked, they said because the medication was on backordered. Noone called/contacted me. They have no right to substitute medication without doctor and/or patient's consent. The techincian was very helpful she called around to another CVS location and i had to drive to Sherman Oaks at 9PM to pick up the medication for my daughter. It is UNETHICAL to give patient old expired medication and change prescription drugs without consent. Pharmacy is for people who are sick and need the right medication to survive. CVS pharmacists, please do not take people's life for grant. And it is not end yet, at 9AM today, I received another text message from CVS "....., your RX order is ready. ......" ? Whatever you do DO NOT come here to have keys made. We needed a duplicate house key and when we got it home it didn't work because it was too short. We drove right back and had another one made. The 2nd one was too long and the cashier said "I hope it works this time" I said no thanks how about a refund and went straight to Home Depot. They clearly haven't been properly trained. read more

My girlfriend and I drove to 3 different CVSs that also claimed to be 24hrs from Van Nuys to Reseda and ended up at this CVS only to be told that they could not fill our prescription because they were too busy and the pharmacy closes at 8pm. This pharmacy is awful. I'm writing this with the hope that no one will have to go through what I did. I want to start by saying that there were about 10 people in front of me in line when I arrived. NOT A SINGLE PERSON LEFT WITH WHAT THEY NEEDED. I went to this pharmacy after being in an accident at work and going to the emergency room. I chose it because it was the only one I could find open that late (open til 10pm) and close to my house. The pharmacy staff seemed nice. I let them know it was a workers comp case and their self proclaimed "workers comp expert" pharmacy technician told me I would have to pay up front for both medications. I wasn't happy, one was more than $50, but just wanted to get my prescriptions and leave so I agreed. Then, a different pharmacist came out and said that my doctor hadn't filled out the prescription properly and she wouldn't be able to fill it for me. She said the doctor needed to indicate there was more than one prescription on the sheet and he hadn't done that. It sounded kind of strange to me, I take a lot of medications and have never encountered this problem before. I asked if they could call the doctor, it was a major emergency room so I think they would know how to right a prescription. She said no this wasn't possible, I would have to get a whole new written prescription. After going back and forth with them for awhile, and of course they were "really sorry", I left realizing I would not going to be getting what I needed that night and was wasting my time. I called the emergency room and let the doctor know what had happened. He told me he had never experienced that with a pharmacy before. I returned to the hospital at 11 o clock at night (not the one next to the pharmacy, the one I had gone to more than 10 miles from my house), having to drive with an injured hand. Of course, I took my business elsewhere. I went to a 24 hour Rite Aid instead. They helped me immediately, processed my workers comp claim with no charge to me. I guess it was better CVS didn't fill my prescription because I would have had to pay over $75 out of pocket. I was impressed with the speed, accuracy and professionalism I got at Rite Aid pharmacy. Bottom line, take your prescriptions elsewhere if you actually want service. Try Rite Aid. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I moved from Torrance to Tarzana, and because I have always had a good experience with the Torrance CVS, I thought it would be a no brainier to keep with them. Well, no. I called 4 times today to get my husbands rx filled. This is an emergency situation as we lost his meds in the move. I originally got 2 days worth, which cost me $50 for 8 pills. Whatever, my mistake, I'll pay. Turns out I have refills on 4 out of the 5 rxs. They neglected to tell me this. Filling them all for 90 days would have cost just $120. When I pointed out that this would have been good information to know when I went to them as an emergency they told me it was my fault because I didn't ask for the refill. BS. Part of their job is to pick up on stuff like this. For the final rx I have called and called to make sure it is ready by 5 pm , before the Drs office closes if there is a problem. First they tell me they got authorization from them for it, next call to see if it is ready for pick up they tell me they have no clue about this rx. I do this four more times. Either they know about it or they have no idea what I am taking about. At 5 to 5 I call the Drs office to please call it in for me. They graciously agree to do so. I am done with CVS. I see there are other highly ranked pharmacies in the area, and I'll take my business somewhere else. read more

I was looking for some nasal spray and couldn't find it. I asked someone at the pharmacy and they said "aisle 16, it will be locked up, and we may be out of it." I walked over and was surprised to see so many sections of the cabinets locked up. I had thought it would be a small section so it would be easy to find. I was frustrated that she sent me there with so little guidance. I got on line to buy a prescription and at check out I asked the person ringing me up if she could tell me what part of aisle 16 I might find the spray. I told her about the vague directions I had received. She was surprised by it too and walked over to the aisle with me and looked to see if she could find it in the locked cabinet. They were out, but she said she had seen it sold as a prescription drug. So I left and called my doctor and asked for him to phone in a prescription. Tina called me a few hours later to tell me she had also called the doctor and that my prescription was now ready. So, a not so good employee was outshone by Tina (I hope I got her name right) by someone who went beyond what was expected and was stellar. She was the kind of employee you want more of! Why can't I find a pharmacy who knows what the heck they are doing?!! This place is just plain awful. I tried to put my monthly prescription on auto refill. Several times. No one can explain to me why it doesn't work. It just doesn't. I gave up trying. So I have to call in to refill and deal with this.... For some reason, not only doesn't their computer know how to refill a prescription, the human employees don't know how to refill a prescription. My doctor whom has prescribed this monthly rx to me for years has NEVER made me ask for it to be refilled once per month with any other pharmacy. But, in spite of that CVS has decided that that they need to call the doctor every month. Since January. Eff them. This isn't only a HUGE inconvenience, but a HUGE source of aggravation. DO YOUR DAMN JOB RIGHT TARZANA PHARMACY TECHS! They don't care that their negligence causes your prescription to lapse. You must babysit them refilling a prescription by calling multiple times. They promise that a prescription will be refilled, and then they just don't fill it. They blame the doctor for all of their own shortcomings. They are obviously understaffed. With long lines and long waits most of the time. If anyone has a great pharmacy in the valley please message me and let me know. I'm sure all pharmacies are hit and miss, and many people complain because they don't get what they want, so they feel it's the pharmacy's fault. That being said, for me at least, it's never the case here. I'm here once a month for prescriptions and the staff has always been very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the medications, To be honest, I've never dealt with a better pharmacy staff than the group at the CVS Pharmacy location. read more

This CVS should be ashamed of themselves. Went in tonight to find that they still had their big box of pumpkins on display in the front of the store. The pumpkins that were remaining at the bottom were rotting and moldy and infested with crawling bugs! I mean really... do they really think anyone would even touch them let alone purchase one. Hands down this place is the worst pharmacy and absolutely worst supermarket ever!! The staff is beyond incompetent and the staff at the pharmacy should all be fired immediately. Pham is the worst employee this pharmacy has. He has no customer service skills and is always rude. He has constantly made numerous mistakes on our prescriptions. If you make the mistake of calling in your order and they tell you it'll take 30 minutes, expect that it will take 2 hours. Where as most CVS stores strive to deliver the prescription while the customer waits or in less than 30 minutes the morto with this CVS is slightly different, if the customer is a frustrated when they leave we didn't do our job. Every time I've been here it has been a frustrating experience from countless mistakes, to being lied to my face it's the worse cvs ever. On my last trip I promised myself I wouldn't make the same mistake again and I requested the number to corporate so that I could find out how anyone can hire such an incompetent staff. To say the least no one would provide the number, instead I was repeatedly asked why ? After they made mistakes not only on my prescription but also on the lead time to my prescription. Soooo, without any subjective remarks, I am presenting the facts on how this pharmacy handles its customer service... I dropped off a prescription with them on Friday and was told that they don't have the medication in stock. They need to order it and it will be delivered the following day (Saturday). To make sure that the order has been put through I've tried to call on Friday night, was on hold for over 30 minutes without any success. So eventually I just hung up. While on hold on my cell phone, I've decided to call the general CVS line from my landline. A representative by the name Anthony picked up the phone. I've explained the situation that I just need to know if the medication was ordered and that it's for a toddler who suffers from a skin condition. Anthony bluntly replies that there is nothing that he can do to help me and puts me on hold to the same line that I've been waiting on for over 20 minutes on my cell phone. I was finally able to get through on Saturday and was told by the pharmacy representative that my prescription won't be ready until Monday since they never get shipments on the weekend. So, whoever took my order on Friday just lied. In addition, the pharmacy representative was more concerned with getting my child's insurance info than having a solid answer about the status of my order. And just for the record, I've been filling prescription for my child at this CVS location with the same insurance since September 2015 and now I've learned that they don't have it. For the past two years, I've been using this pharmacy as it is the closest one to my house. Most of the times it was not a pleasant experience, however, this last one is really really disappointing and makes me wonder if we are even in America? WORST, WORST, WORST, WORST, WORST EVER! Understaffed, overworked, probably underpaid (which means they hire the least experienced), rude, slow, stupid staff. I've given them 5 chances, and each time they couldn't find that I even HAD a prescription on file. I'm not really sure what the boggle is for many fellow yelpers who frequent this place. For me l enjoy coming here. It's one of the first stops in retail I go to every other morning. The service is fast and the staff does a great job at assisting you with your needs. Seeing that I am an early bird I guess I beat the long lines and traffic every day. The wait was adequate, but I got there at a good time. The pharmacist gave me an enormous amount of help. She saved me money and time. I couldn't say for the rest of the patients. Since, there was a numerable amount of patients in a long line. I don't think there was enough staff working for the best service. Honestly, the only reason why I gave it a four was because of the pharmacist helped me out, and I appreciated it. While this store, needs work in interior decorating. Should hire more staff. Wouldn't accept a receipt that was marked "customer receipt" for a prescription so they wouldn't put the money back on my debit card. Amazing. I had to pick up some items from this CVS because it was next to the hospital. The staff was nice but understaffed. People come and go in here a lot because of the proximity to the hospital and the parking lot is usually full. If I could give 0 stars I would. I called to ensure my son's prescription was ready before leaving the hospital with my 6 week old baby. They said it was hut said they didn't have the over the counter items we were prescribed. After leaving the hospital, I waited int he pick up line to be told the prescription was not in the system and to talk to drop off. Which I then got in line for. She said there was an issue with insurance. Did something on the computer and said it'd be ready in 5-10 min. During this time I wandered around to find the OTC I needed (that they'd previously said they didn't have). My name hadn't been called so I went to change my son and surprise! The bathroom doesn't have a changing table. I got back in line, the prescription was in the wrong bin. They find it. I leave 3 hours after I called to confirm they had it in the first place and 2 hours after arriving and beging my CVS experience. Never again. read more

I'm giving them one star because that's the lowest rating Yelp has but in reality this pharmacy deserve zero. This was my first time using CVS and this pharmacy in particular, I live in Encino and convince was the reason behind it. Little that I know that it would take 3 trips to try to pick up my son's acne cream and had to end up picking it up at another location in Van Nuys.... Our physician sent the prescription on Friday, I called 3 times and stayed waiting in the line 5-6 minutes each time ( I have records on my phone and can prove it) and no one ever pick up. On Saturday morning I end up going to the pharmacy in person just to find out that they haven't even start working in it, at that point the guy behind the counter told me they will order it and will be ready on Monday. Monday came and I stop by after work just to find out that the cream wasn't even order! At that time they informed me that they will order it and will be ready the following day. Once again I stopped by on Tuesday just to found out that they didn't have yet again, I was very upset and dissatisfied by then, the pharmacist asked me in a petulant tone if I had received a text telling me that my prescription was ready to what I answered No, no one told me to wait for it but it wouldn't work anyway since I was not enrolled on the system. After that I asked my prescription to be transfer to a location that had the product because I couldn't wait any longer and didn't want to deal with them any more. It took me 4 trips to CVS to get an acne cream, excessive for me, Im just glad this wasn't an urgent medicine we need it. The staffat the CVS on Reseda and Ventura in Tarzana, CA are the most incapable bunch of people. I have encountered so many problems with my medications, at that pharmacy, that I cannot continue to use them anymore! They tell my Dr when he call in my urgent medication, that they CAN do same day delivery for 7.95$ they go as far as to call me, confirm my address and say "its on it's way!" So, I wait. Then I call them an hour later and they say " it's not ready, and they don't know what I'm talking about, I will receive it in 3 days! What?! Am I having a nightmare?! They did this 2times in 1 week, in different instances. They have lost my respect and my business, and Melissa, well don't talk to her because she is not helpful at all! The absolute worst!
