Sometimes this place enrages me (like *any* time I've ever had to fill a prescription), but then other times, the fact that it's open 24 hours and sells everything from toilet paper, random produce/fruits, snacks, to passport photos, and I find them redeeming themselves in my book. Since I live across the street, this love/hate relationship will probably continue for the foreseeable future.. but I'll say most days, I'm thankful for the option and services provided by this CVS. read more

THIS IS THE WORST PHARMACY EVER!! Use this CVS if you want to stand around waiting for your prescription. My doctor called in a prescription at 5 p.m. today. I arrived at the CVS pharmacy at 6:30 p.m. (after work). There were 9 people standing in line, and 3 employees behind the counter. I was the 6th person in line. Only one of the 3 employees was at the register. Her name was L, and it was taking her about 15 minutes per customer. (The other people in line and I timed the transactions. One of the customers in front of me had already been waiting an hour.) After a half hour, during which L only helped 2 customers, S opened the second register and started helping customers. By this time, there were 14 people in line. After an hour of standing in line, waiting to get to the counter, it was my turn. I was told, by S, that my prescription had not yet been filled and that I should stand aside while the third employee filled my prescription. Unfortunately, the third employee was busy taking new prescriptions, so she did not work on my prescription. In the meantime, people who arrived after me were being helped by S and L, and picking up their prescriptions. I was told to wait, and wait, and wait. After another half hour, S finally decided to fill my prescription. I finally got my prescription 1-1/2 hours after entering the store. This is ridiculous, especially since the prescription had been called in earlier. I find that the service at this CVS is atrocious. There is always a line at the pharmacy and the staff never seem to care that there is a long line. It also takes them a long time to actually prepare the prescriptions. I picked up another prescription last week Monday, and had to wait a very long time then too. I go to CVS because it is convenient and I have always used CVS for my prescriptions. My recent experiences indicate, however, that CVS does not seem interested in its customers. read more

I don't use the pharmacy; I go to Giant next door for that. For other typical drug store stuff, they're fine. CVS has weekly specials, and sometimes they're really big discounts. Those things go quickly, though. They start on Sunday, and you can get on their e-mail list and get notice a couple of days ahead of time. read more

This place is so disorganized it's terrifying. If you watch the line, which is always backed up, you'll see that it takes the cashier at least five minutes just to find each prescription--and then after asking for the spelling of the name two or three times, checking in three or four places, checking the computer, and asking co-workers. The lucky customers eventually get to leave with their meds--if they are the meds ordered (which isn't always the case). It seems that nearly half the people in line, after going through the process I just described, are asked to step out of line without any explanation of what's going on and then wait for very long periods of time. If anyone communicates with them at all during the wait, it is with confusing and conflicting information. It's ready. No, I don't see anything in the computer...no, I did it and it's here. Where? Oh wait, the insurance won't cover it yet... Last time, after being called out of line AGAIN, I asked what I could possibly do to make sure my meds are ready and in the right place next time. I was told I had to call first so today I did that and was assured everything would be ready when I got there. It wasn't. Got called out of line again. Waited over half an hour for something I desperately need for my gestational diabetes only to be told my insurance won't cover it for another week--because I ran out early because I was not given my full dose a month ago, only no one would listen to me long enough to figure out that the mistake was on their side initially. I spent two hours arguing with them, arguing with my insurance company,and eventually getting what I needed from another CVS. The experience left me in tears and now I am determined never to use that pharmacy again. I'm surprised I stayed with them as long as I did. Giant is next door. That's where I'll go. Anywhere else is preferable to this CVS--and I see it's the lowest rated in the area, and with good cause. If I could get by without giving it a star, I would. Never again. read more

Terrible. What a nightmare. I've got no problem with them for regular off-the-shelf purchases, but when my boyfriend asked me to pick up a prescription that his doctor called in there, it was a dismal experience--including for him as he waited at home for his post-surgery painkillers! I waited well over an hour for a prescription that had been called in hours earlier and should have been filled well before I arrived. I wasn't alone--I was surrounded by disgruntled people who were in on their second or third attempt at getting their prescriptions. The pharmacists themselves seemed competent and I have to credit them with keeping their calm and constructive and positive demeanor in the face of so many disgruntled customers--that is the only thing I can credit this place with. I feel sorry for the staff--place must be incredibly under-staffed for things to be so bad. My default pharmacy for Silver Spring is the Rite Aid at East West Highway and Colesville--I've never had an issue with them and they're just a few blocks away. Save yourself. read more

For the most part, my experiences with their pharmacy have been ok, but over the past few days I've gotten to the point where I've decided to switch pharmacies. I dropped 3 prescriptions off Monday night. I returned Friday afternoon for pick-up. Even though all of them had been filled, one was missing. After waiting 20 minutes, they asked me "If I would like to come back,?" without even apologizing for the wait or misplacing my prescription. I return the next day, pick them up, all seems well. I opened them up last night, two prescriptions were wrong--different medicines in the bag than were on the prescription. So I now get to go back yet AGAIN today and set this right. "Yes hello CVS pharmacist, I in fact AM the same person you've seen every day this weekend!" This is absurd. I really don't (especially with the snow this weekend) need to be running to the pharmacy 3 times in 3 days just to get my medicines. I'm changing pharmacies. read more

This place SUCKS! I'm new to the area and went to this pharmacy because it's down the street where I live...Oh, my god, where did they find the people who work there? Was it some welfare-to-work program where they recruited people from the hood? Seriously...Awful customer service. Don't go there!!! I have had my prescriptions filled at CVS pharmacy on East West Hwy in Silver Spring for a year or so. I have always had a good experience until I had to deal with a manger named Elizabeth (no last name provided). This is the rudest person I have had the displeasure to deal with. She upset my doctors office as well as me. She is inept, does not leave the proper directives, and caused a refill much needed to take a week. She has absolutely no people skills and is extremely nasty. As a pharmacist one would think she would be aware that everyone she is dealing with is on medication therefore an attitude adjustment on her part is called for. I'm sure CVS will lose many a customer after dealing with her. The rest of the staff is very nice but I think this CVS store would fair much better without her. I hope they act on this. read more

horrible horrible. not only is the CVS storre digusting in general. the pharmacy staff is useless! they made soo many mistakes on my Rxs i called HQ and filed a complaint. I've called and asked medication related questions that no one could answer...and they shouldn't have been hard questions for pharmacists. i have to spell out medicine's names...easy ones..."Bactrim DS" for instance...more than once before they get it right. they are rude, unprofessional, not careful, and indifferent to the mistakes they make. If you have no other choice but to use this CVS...just be sure to ask for Clarissa. she's a pharm tech, has been there the longest, is most knowledgable and very helpful. on the other hand, i haven't found a very good pharmacy around here yet. I have lyme disease and am on many medications and need a pharmacy that can get it right. read more

One final try after contacting customer service about the mess that is the pharmacy. Had a prescription sent from the doctors office to CVS Monday. Wednesday four people in line, five people milling about because their orders have been mucked up. My went no better as I was told my prescription had been restocked as it was sitting in the bin since Monday afternoon, all of 36 hours. When asked when it would be ready the pharmacist ignored me for five minutes until I gave up hope on this "business". I will be filling my prescriptions at Giant next door. read more

I've never had any negative experiences like those had by other commenters. Each time I've gone, the staff has been very helpful, including the pharmacy staff. No difficulties getting my prescriptions. Sometimes there's a significant line to pickup prescriptions, sometimes not. All in all, pretty good. read more

Worst cvs pharmacy I have ever been to. I swear, they TRY to be slow here. I come here because it's on my way home but it takes at least half an hour to receive my medicine, even if there are only three people in line. Avoid this place if you can, it's a disaster. read more

It is very busy location and I used this store for years. then I had to get refill only to find out that the pharmacy staff failed to give me the correct amount of pills. I come in quite frequently to have my prescriptions refilled so I know the pharmacy department quite well. Over the last couple of months, this particular pharmacy has gone through a couple of personnel changes. I usually deal with Jessica the pharmacist, who is great and always asks me questions and tries to resolve what ever problem I have. But this new pharmacist... HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. I don't know her name but she's White with curly hair. I'd come from the hospital with a printed prescription to get filled and she pretty much accused me of fabricating the prescription. I was in so much pain and wanted to get the prescription filled as soon as possible. The prescription was for antibiotics so I couldn't figure out where her attitude was coming from. I told her that it was a faxed prescription and she told me that "it looked for photocopied" in a very accusatory tone. Like who would try to steal or fabricate a prescription for antibiotics? I truly believe that she saw a Black girl with braids and immediately assumed I was dishonest (I'm actually a civil rights attorney and very aware of my rights). Eventually, I had to call my doctor to call the prescription in for me. Even the doctor couldn't understand why this happened. She never apologized and refused to acknowledge me when I came back to pick up my prescription. This kind of treatment will not be forgotten and I WILL relay my concerns up the CVS chain of command if necessary. I do not want anyone else to go through what I went through. read more

This is the worst CVS store ever. I went and dropped off photos on February 21. I was told that the photo would be ready within a week. A week later, I came back to inquire about the photo. I was serviced by a supervisor (or assistant manager), who was so rude. She told me the photo is usually takes 2 weeks to process, and make a implicate that I was lying about what their store employee told me. I ask for the store manager, but i was told that there are none on duty and I will have to come back Monday when there is a store manager. This was a Saturday afternoon. This mean that the store open 24 hours from Saturday afternoon till Monday morning without any manager that have authority to take any action. This is unacceptable. You should have at least someone with authority to make decision when there are no manager on duty. Every week, I came back to the store to inquire the status of the photo, but I was told that it did not arrive, until March 23. Finally, my photo arrived, but I found out that my photo did arrived at the store on March 13 (as indicated on the photo sleeve. I ask why was I not informed, as I was told. My phone number was left for them to contact me when the photo arrive. I wanted to make a complain, but again, there was no manager on duty ... just a supervisor name: Julien. He treated me rudely, so my roommate want to get his name and ask for his last name, in which he refuse to give out. It seem like this store never have any manager on duty or anyone who can make decision. read more
