This CVS has improved a lot. Nicer interior, upgraded pharmacy. Note pharmacy lunch break is 130-2, which to me is an unexpected time. I would say has the same issues many CVS do-- items locked up, insufficient staffing, often no one at the front. This is clearly corporate policy, not specific to this one. But I think the employees here work hard to have a positive attitude, are responsive to customers, quickly intervene when the self checkout is not working (a regular thing). think the pharmacy staff are good and the managers are responsive. So definitely give them a try . read more

The woman at the front checkout was extremely snide with me for no reason at all. I came in just to spend my monthly $10 ExtraBucks. As I walked through the store, I found restocking carts (without staff) blocking some areas and saw several items locked behind plexiglass. I would pick a different area store next time. read more

One way to improve: CVS could hire friendly and professional staff to assist customers. When I walked in there was no one at the front of the store and the customers' only option were the self-check-outs. The only two store employees were in the middle of the store stocking shelves. One of them was on a loud speakerphone conversation while stocking. The other wouldn't even look at me when I asked him a question much less treat me with friendly courtesy and show me that he was interested in helping me. It's no wonder drugstores like this are being forced to close. They practically welcome the blatant shoplifting that's driving them out of business. RE: their pharmacy: the last time I used it I called to ask if my prescription was ready but no one answered the phone after umpteen rings. Once, when the phone was finally picked up, it was immediately hung up. After several attempts I called the store and asked them to let a pharmacy employee know I wanted to speak to them. Do not go to them. Ever. Had a medication called in, they ignored it for 5 days, finally I called. They said "oh we don't have that in stock, YOU can call the CVS on East West to see if they have it and if they don't, call us back and we'll order it." Glad it was on me to make that call in the first place. Ok, whatever. The other CVS was a no go, so I called back and they ordered it. It came in. I went to pick it up. It was a refrigerated medication, someone left the fridge OPEN overnight, ruined the batch. Now it's 3 days later and I just got a message from them that they JUST ordered a replacement. Terrible store and pharmacy. Waited in line for 15 minutes only to have the gate slammed shut in front of me and rudely told to come back later. Changed pharmacies immediately. Today I went for a few things including a lighter. Since there are no cashiers, I went to self checkout. Lighters are age restricted so they light went on to call for assistance. Took five minutes for someone to show up. She scanned her card and told me to put my date of birth in the machine. It told me my birthdate was invalid! Will NEVER step into a cvs again. This is by far the worst pharmacy in the area. Most of the pharmacists are rude and unhelpful and if you need to call them to discuss a prescription, heaven forbid. I end up holding for an hour at a time and sometimes they just hang up on you after you've been holding. When they do come on the phone they keep talking over you. I've decided there is no need to stick with this pharmacy when there are so many others looking for your business. I'm taking mine elsewhere. read more

They close for a hour long lunch and don't have anything about it on the website. They are not friendly and need new staff.

So, this is my go-to pharmacy because my prescription plan is through Caremark, which basically means I can only use CVS. This particular CVS in on the way home from my Dr.'s office so it's a no brainer why I get my drugs here. To that extent, I have never had a problem at the pharmacy counter. Sometimes there's a wait, but I have never had rude service. Mind you, my scrips have been for prepackaged stuff like the Z pack or inhalers. Kudos to the team behind the counter. I also like the other staff as well. I needed to return something, and I did it in a breeze. No questions asked. There is always someone to help you, and if the line gets too long, they'll open another register. Javier, in particular is my favorite helpful employee. (He wasn't here today - sad face.) This CVS is so better organized than the one in the Shops at Blair. Parking is never a problem either. read more

She needs people skills training. I told her I was in pain but that made no difference to her. Nasty. Wrong profession for this one. I'm shocked this cvs has such a low rating because my experience today was the best cvs experience I've had in my life. I take Ritalin for adult add which is obscenely difficult to fill in the dmv that I usually prepare a visit two weeks in advance usually hitting up at least two+ Cvs's within dc and Montgomery county to get a script filled. I've been without scripts for almost a week before because of this issue. Anyone in my situation understands that being without your meds when you actually need it sucks especially if your job requires responsibility and focus. It's like going to work without your glasses. You can deal, but your productivity is diminished. I don't even go to my "usual" cvs in Columbia heights anymore because more likely than not they don't have what I need. It is incredibly frustrating to pay for parking, wait in a line, and then just told them don't have it. I don't even mind being told they don't have it if they can order it for me - some places won't even do that because apparently no pharmacy manager around blah algabanahaha - long story short, I'm told to check at the giant across the street. Too bad I can't fill my insurance trough giant. ANYWAYS. This brings me to this cvs. I actually forgot to turn to my new normal cvs and this happens to be next to the aldi I regularly shop at so I was curious if I could make it happen and gave it a shot. There have been multiple robberies at this location (one of which I was in the store for) and no increased security. Horrible for the customers and the workers. I can't figure out what is wrong! If I need to call this store, #1492, Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD, I get in the hold loop for the pharmacy for 15 minutes and then I stop waiting. I moved to the area at the beginning of June. The time I used this location, they texted me that refills were ready AND They Were; staff was friendly. IF I Need a NEW Prescription, I canNOT reach them by phone. I know my Dr. would contact them, If I went through her, but she has even LESS time to wait. I went through the 800 number customer service line today and they could patch me through to the store . . . the employee who answered said he could not hear me and hung up. The 5 Star is for the pharmacy only! I am surprised most people are complaining about them. Used them for about 8 years. Sometimes they are short staffed, but never had issues with getting my medication.The pharmacist has always been nice and professional. The CVS store is a different story! Don't use the pharmacy at this CVS. They know nothing about customer service. I put in my prescription request via their phone system. The system assured me my anti-seizure medicine would be ready that day by 6pm with a confirming call. By 630, I started calling both by in-person and thru their voice system. I was on hold for a total of 1 hour!! They picked up twice-once to hang up on me and once to say "please hold". Finally, I decided to go in person while still being on "hold". I walk in on my Phone- being on hold- and their two pharmacy employees have no customers and seem to be milling around. I voice my complaint- No apologies, no concern. I state my prescription request. They have no record!! They say- did you call in and talk to someone? I shout- you all don't answer the phone! He says when do you want it- i say tonight. He informs me that they are closing-- it's 30 Min til closing and not one other customer waiting to be helped. Finally, he says they won't honor the GOOD RX card-- making my $29 medicine into $189. I finally complain to the manager and will Remove my prescription from this CVS to another one. At no time- did they even attempt To correct their poor customer service. There is nothing wrong with the CVS store itself. It is pretty well-stocked and has what you would expect to find at a drugstore. The store is clean and very conveniently located. I shop here regularly for my toiletries and other sundries. However, I agree that the pharmacy is not one you want to deal with unless you have no other options. The pharmacists have been extremely rude and unhelpful to me on multiple occasions. They are also slow and will not lift a finger to help you if you have questions about your insurance. I have since transferred my prescriptions elsewhere to be filled because of my experiences here; I will never use this CVS for prescriptions again. I have also had experience using the photo center to get a passport photo taken. They do offer this service (for $12.99) but the staff are not trained in what makes a permissible passport photo. The person sent my spouse home with a picture with glare on his glasses lenses, which would have been rejected by the U.S. passport agency. The CVS retook the photo for free, but you have to be on your toes to make sure it is done right. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I can imagine. A prescription for my two year-old was called into them 10 days ago. I came to pick it up, and they said they didn't have any and would order it. 10 days later, they do not have it, they have claimed it's not available anywhere, yet they did not contact either me or the doctor to tell us that so that someone could figure out how to get medicine my child needs. Nobody here has any explanation for why this happened or why it won't happen again. I am now wasting half an hour sitting at the CVS while they call other CVS pharmacies looking for it--which would have been a helpful thing had they done it on their own initiative or given me notice days ago so I could have done it myself. The pharmacist found it at a location 20 minutes away and told me she would have it transferred. I later called the other pharmacy to see when it would be ready before driving over. This pharmacy never bothered to do the transfer, so the new location had to pull it themselves--which added another delay. I will never spend another dime at this CVS, even though it is literally across the road from my house. read more

Do not use. Do not pass Go, do not collect your prescriptions. 8-10 people in line at the pharmacy on a regular basis. I've waited on hold for 45+ minutes to speak to a pharmacist. Helpful and friendly service is the exception, not the rule, and I've seen staff get into it with customers. On a number of occasions, two staff members can't find my prescription, until a third does. The store is otherwise clean, I guess. I can always find what I need. I like the location, but I can't turn left in or out of the plaza from Georgia Avenue in rush hour. Recently a pharmacist was wholly unhelpful and then redeemed himself and solved my problem quickly, so that's something. I've been reading Yelp reviews for other CVS locations in the area, and it doesn't look like I have better options. read more

This pharmacy has been going downhill. We've used it for years, but there are too many mistakes made with prescriptions and they are too short on inventory. Almost every time we need a medication, they are out of it and have to order it, so we have to keep coming back. I came back today for the second day and they said, "Oh it won't be here until 3 o'clock." Why didn't you tell me yesterday to come back after 3 o'clock? So that means I have to come back for a third day. This pharmacy is not for people who work or for people who have transportation challenges. read more

The pharmacy is completely dysfunctional. The staff places your phone calls "on hold" for 30 minutes and then drops your call. (I've had this happen several times on the very same day. Why keep trying? Because you never visit the pharmacy without calling ahead.) They neglect to tell you that they do not have what a doctor has prescribed for you after telling you the prescription will be ready in 2 hours. They misplace orders. They take 4-6 hours to fill a prescription they claim will take less than 2 hours to fill. While pharmacologically competent, the staff does not seem to care about how they treat their customers. If I had another pharmacy to go to, I would. Do not plan on spending less the an hour any time you visit the pharmacy. It really is disgraceful. The non-pharmacy part of the store is good, as is the non-pharmacy staff. read more

What a difference a move makes! Someone took the most offensive pharmacy employee -- surprise, surprise -- from behind the counter in the back of the store and placed her on the floor and in FRONT. Her attitude has experienced a 180 degree change and is positively LOVELY now. Who knew she was so unhappy back there? Who knew she's actually a people person? This is management done RIGHT. I'm happy she's so happy now; it makes for a better overall feeling at this branch (though CVS pharmacies 'round the realm still are ... a challenge). read more

They take photo orders online though they don't really develop photos anymore, and I've actually had to read and interpret a prescription for the pharmacy tech because she didn't understand that "13 packs" meant 13 refills. Avoid using this pharmacy if possible. Staff is often rude, ill-informed, and not the least bit helpful. Often, they seem to look as if they would rather be someplace else and are not willing to go the extra mile to provide friendly, quality customer service. Take your business elsewhere - this store is the worst. The weekend before Mother's Day I spent over 2 hours making a couple photo books and getting prints. Completed the order only to be told no covers for the books - they would be in Monday and I could pick them up then. Only paid for prints I got so the issue is not money. Came back next week and not only no covers, no idea when there would be covers and now no pages for the book. Was told someone would look into it and call. No call. Came back Saturday - now a third trip to try and buy something from them, and got an apology - the guy supposedly checking had gotten busy and forgot to call. Easy for me to forget CVS too now and go somewhere else so that's what I plan to do. They are beyond incompetent at this store. read more

I just went to the minute clinic today and was seen as soon as I signed in. The doctor was outstanding--thorough and so human (I know, that seems like faint praise, but I see a lot of doctors and have trouble connecting with most). And then, the biggest miracle, she sent my Rx to the pharmacy on-site and they had the prescription filled within about 3 minutes. That kind of service is really impressive. I decided to order pictures one night and the website said they would be ready by 11am the next morning. Great, but I couldn't make it the next day so I went two days later. Luckily, I had other things to buy while I was there because when I went to the cashier to pick them up, she said the photo station was broken. I said I wasn't here to just start ordering but I ordered online. She repeated herself again. Okay... I'm standing there thinking, "Why didn't I receive a call?" But whatever. So I asked when it would be fixed. The answer? "I don't know." Fine. My next question: "Will you call me when it's fixed and my pictures are ready?" The most grand and best answer: "I can't guarantee that." ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING??!!?!! I'm not going to stop by everyday just to check up on them. Ridiculous. read more
