Unfortunately the other reviews about the pharmacy are true, I'll have my doctors office switch my pharmacy before I need a refill. I waited an hour to have a vitamin D prescription filled. This is the most incompetent CVS pharmacy I have gone too. The technician Ye, long hair, needs more training. I watched her struggle on how to use a keyboard and type basic functions. She got a customer in front of me infos wrong repetitively. Then she didn't know when the credit card was done processing. Today I went couponing just like any average teenager would, and got my items. Everything was working out just fine until there was an error with one of my coupons, but the thing was everything was as it was supposed to be, she even consulted two other coworkers and they said that it should work so she did everything that she could to get it to work. We were there for about 30 minutes trying to get the system to work, and after 30 minutes my cashier persisted. I think her name is Marissa I'm not exactly sure but she was awesome and amazing. Long line for pick up. That was understandable for 6:30pm I guess. Insurance was not on file so I had to wait to have someone else run the insurance. That's fine. I waited patiently for 10 minutes. A pharmacist tried running the insurance and it wasn't being covered. That's okay I'll pay out of pocket and I was asking him about the prescriptions and if was ok to drive taking them and he walked off and told me someone else would ring me up....ok but he never told anyone I needed to be rung up so again I'm standing there waiting. I finally spoke up and asked to be rung up and complained about the other pharmacist being rude and walking off in the middle of my questions. Michelle apologized but hesitated when I asked for his name. She eventually said, Ryan. So I'm here to say that Ryan was rude, and unprofessional because he was too busy or who knows what. I was polite and patient until he left me standing there with no consultation and didn't even communicate with anyone that I still needed to be helped. read more

CVS pharmacy as a whole is terrible to begin with but this location is the worst of the bunch. CVS needs to get new suppliers. I have two medications that can NEVER be filled by them because they are always out of stock. Most pharmacies will call you to make you aware of the situation but the Grossmont team will allow it to re-process a dozen times to no avail leaving the client without medication for an extended period of time. And good luck if you try to call them, hold times are always a minimum of ten minutes, but are often over 20, if they ever pick up the phone at all. And if they tell you they will contact your doctor to clear up any confusion on a medication, you can rest assured that they definitely will NOT. Instead you'll patiently wait to hear back from them until finally calling for an update, and then they'll say that YOU need to contact them yourself. In person is no better, should you need to both drop off and pickup prescriptions at the same time, you'll rudely be told to wait in two separate lines even though the same employee is going back and forth to both and could more efficiently help one customer with all their needs. But don't worry, if you're unfortunate enough to be "helped" by Ye, you won't be getting your prescription filled anyway. I'm all for precaution and safety but this lady takes it to epic levels. Did the doctor forget to write the date on it? Well, it's probably from 10 years ago so you don't need it anymore. Did the nurse spell your name with an "a" instead of an "e?" How dare you steal a script from someone with almost your exact same name! Did the paper get a little crumpled in your purse? Well it's completely unreadable now. I mean I get it, if you find a reason to not fill my script then its one less thing you have to do. It's ok, by the time they've answered my call at CVS, I've already driven to RiteAid. read more

I picked up a prescription tonight. It should contain 60 pills. Same rx I've had for at least 5 years, filled at this pharmacy. I just opened up the bottle and discovered there are only 15 pills in the bottle. So i called the pharmacy and have now been holding for 37 minutes. I called the store line with a different phone and asked what was going on in the pharmacy and they said that the pharmacy was very busy and they would transfer me and page them on the intercom. Still holding on that call as well. Time to transfer pharmacies, I think. read more

The pharmacy here is a complete mess. There are three separate lines for the pharmacy- one for consultation, one for drop off and another for pick up. Each line begins IN an aisle, so you can't see the other lines from where you're standing. I am writing this review on minute 22 of waiting in the pick up line. None of the employees are bothering to gauge the lines and how long some people have been waiting compared to others. The representative was super unhelpful and borderline rude. This is my first experience picking up an Rx at this location and they've prompted me to never do so again. 35 minutes, no prescription and a ton unhappy people- avoid this pharmacy at all costs. Ugly, dated, store with service to match. Always a delay in getting prescriptions in a timely matter. We don't believe them when they tell us our prescriptions will be ready at a particular time. Never ready. Call first to see if they are ready or get put on their texting notification system. I only use them because our health plan gives best prices through CVS and this is the nearest to home. Kind of sucks. Sunday, slow day. Expect to wait. Update; twice now we have to call in to see if med is ready. They were supposed to text us. After we pickup the med THEN the text notification arrives telling us med is ready for pick up. Micheal is very rude and very unhelpful. When asking for assistance he seemed bothered by having to do his job. I was waiting at self checkout while the machine promoted assistance for five minutes before I had to go and get help. Before this incident I had asked if there were any covid home kit tests and he said no even though the night before I had purchased some and the girl that helped me told me they had a bunch in stock however when I asked Micheal he said he didn't know where they were at and when I asked if he could look for them he said no. read more

THIS LOCATION IS TRASH. Where do I even begin. PHARMACY: Had a new prescription once. Brought it in and the pharmacist (mid 40s, possibly middle eastern male) was at the counter. As soon as I handed him the prescription he rudely told me my insurance would not cover it. Didn't input it into the system, did not ask what it was for, just flat out told me it wouldn't be covered. I didn't care if it was covered, I still needed it. He was super rude the entire time he was putting the order in. When I came back to pick it up I was asking the woman helping me what their rates were for a 2-week vs a 30-day supply so I could see if it was more cost-efficient to take it elsewhere. the pharmacist took it upon himself to yell from the back, "It's not covered!" when that wasn't even the goddamn question. CASHIERS: I purchased something once with cash and ExtraCare Bucks. Was promptly told I would lose all ECB and they would be returned to the store. Dafuq. I earned those damn ECBs, the hell you mean I have to forfeit them to the store. I paid more in cash than the ECB value so I returned it. Cashier proceeds to put the balance of the ECB on a giftcard and keeps it at the register. My receipt shows that I was given the moneycard as well even though I wasn't. Called corporate. Turns out she was supposed to return them to me. Thanks BRIANNA FOR STEALING! Another time I came in and was standing in line for awhile. There were only two registers open. After waiting for more than 5 minutes, a woman leaves her register to come tell the cashier that he needs to go to lunch. Loud enough for us to all hear. I figure once the line is through, the dude will go. Nope. As soon as he finishes helping the current customer, he tells us the line is closed. I've been waiting for damn near 10 minutes now so of course Im pissed. They couldn't have said anything a few minutes sooner?! So now I go to NAXHIJEs line. Doesn't ask if I want the saved coupons applied, just pushes them through. Because of this I was short .89 cents on a spend $25, get $7 ECB deal. I walked back in and asked her to return everything and re-do it without the coupon so I wouldn't have to purchase anything else. It was a Huggies deal and there isn't a goddamn Huggies item in the world for under a dollar. She sat there and argued that the system wouldn't take it, that the system changed, that she had been gone for 2 months, maybe it would work, maybe not. Anything to avoid touching the computer. I finally tell her to just try and she says she can't do anything without the actual items. Like this woman legit just sold me the damn diapers not 5 minutes before and I was not about to carry 2 boxes and 2 wipes back in. She couldn't have just stated from the beginning that she needed the damn items?! I absolutely loathe this store and have since started going to a different location. It's obvious these people hate their jobs and should NOT be working directly with people. Beyond unprofessional. read more

I admit that I do not use this location for my pharmacy needs. However, I have found a new beauty/makeup destination so move over Ulta and just forget Sephora and their snotty service. This location has an incredibly comprehensive beauty section. Literally every drugstore brand that's out there can be found here such as Essence (love their Give Me Brow for $2.99), NYX, L.A. Girl (limited selections), Joah, K-Beauty [Peripera], and CVS own line of Beauty 360 skin care products. Wow, I never knew that all of this was hiding here as I was at a different CVS just last week and it had nothing compared to this. I spent about two hours (no joke) perusing products and was never bothered by employees or looked at suspiciously which is a good thing as I made a close to $100 purchase. The little bag I couldn't resist that stated "Makeup Fixes Everything" couldn't have rung truer. If you're looking to mix up your makeup collection, this place is a must. I also easily found the Vick's Vapor Rub that was the purpose of even coming in here. Also, the pharmacist did gladly answer my question regarding an over the counter cough suppressant. Sorry to read that others haven't had as good of experiences here. Guess I'll stick to frivolous beauty purchases only. read more

Made an online appointment for today for a flu shot. Arrived and went to the counter to check in and they told me that they were out of the flu shot and only had them available for seniors. When I told them that I made an appointment online, they were unaware that you could even do that. Please do not go to this pharmacy!!! They auto refilled 2 Blood Pressure medications and a third new prescription for a single medication that contained the two. My husband picked them up not realizing I was only prescribed the new combination pill. I am very concerned that the pharmacist didn't question why I would be taking these 3 pills because it could have caused a dangerous drop in blood pressure. When I went to CVS today the pharmacist did not apologize or offer any explanation as to why there was no double check or why my prescription auto refilled with out my approval. I was told to come back on Monday to talk to the manager and that they would not refund my money because we left the store with the medication. It's less than $20 so the money really isn't important but the lack of accountability of any sort and the pharmacist's attitude were much less than acceptable. They'll ask every time you pick up a prescription if you want automatic refill. When you say no they do it anyway. 90 day fill when you ask for 30. They make it impossible to transfer to an efficient pharmacy. Then they ask "Why not let us fill your prescription one more time?" Don't get me started on the automated calls that psycho-dial you. Jesus Christ, every exercise with the pharmacy at La Mesa Pharmacy is an absolute test of your patience. The level of customer service is borderline negligence...you would think they had zero competition and were complacent, hell they make the DMV look like the Mt Zion of customer service. From the complete lack of information on voicemails (missing any contact info, who left the message). To the super rushed and high strung employee working the counter, which only adds stress to the entire visit. Icing on the cake: CVS forgot roughly 1/2 of my 90 day prescription when it was put in the bag, upon returning the next day to point out the error - met with a condescending attitude w/ snap back of "well I just can't fill this because you said so...and we're going to go back and watch the tape". Please, please, please do - and and when you watch the tape and realize it was your fault, I don't see any reason why they would continue your employment; unless CVS was 100% committed to disappointing customers in every way, shape, and form of the customer experience. First thought was an isolated indecent, or perhaps somebody was having a bad day - it happens to the best of us. But this is every. single. time. She lets me know if the discount plan is cheaper than my insurance, she calls me to check in on prescriptions and she is always friendly. Ye ROCKS! She is the one I trust there. The other employees and the new frenetic pharmacist there should take note. Do what Ye does! She is why I have kept this CVS my pharmacy. read more

So it appears that most negative comments have to do with the pharmacy and then there are your usual angry birds ranting about issues that are beyond CVS's control and happening all over the world with other stores. I bypassed those when I read them. Let's be grateful people! Today I'm giving five stars to the excellent customer service I received by Chris the manager! I showed up with a photo panel that the CVS in Eastlake has tried helping me with twice to no avail! I can't complain... Eastlake tried but I wasn't happy with their work (not knocking down their customer service). Chris not only agreed that it could be done better but he gave me 110%! While waiting 15 minutes for the photo panel to be re-done (for the 3rd time), I browsed around and noticed Chris patiently helping an employee using the self-checkout kiosk. As much as I detest those machines, this lady's purchase was complicated with coupons, etc.! He just smiled and chuckled with her. I admired his patience. He was very patient with me too!! Right now with how tough times can be, I'm sure we are short tempered, very impatient and now mandated to wear a mask again, Chris has to deal with all types of people and criticism in his store so I've got to give him a shout out that, regardless of what mood we're in or what we are going through, today I felt the spirit of Christmas thanks to Chris!! This pharmacy is horrible. The staff treat you like a tweaker if you have to fill a controlled substance.The tech took the scrip over to the so called pharmacist. I could see through the window that she didn't even look at it but was shaking her head. Then the pharmacist came out with her head down, couldnt even look me in the eye, said they couldn't fill it, and literally ran away into the back room. Gave no explanation or valid reason why they couldn't fill it. I understand they deal with sketchy patients and fraudulent scrips. Does not give them the right to treat everyone like a criminal. Not only were they slow and had to be pushed to check but they were rude and hung up on me after they finally found it like it was my fault. Bad, bad attitudes. I would expect it at the DMV but CVS? Why, oh WHY do I keep coming back here? The pharmacy is a disaster. The people working there are nice but 1) they are severely understaffed and 2) they are just terrible at their job. I've waited over 30 min in line more times than I remember. They have simply failed to fill my Rx more times than I can even believe. Today - "oh, we tried to fill it, but it was back ordered." No call to me about it. I waited in line, 8 months pregnant with a toddler, for 30 minutes only to be told that. It's a prenatal. How hard is this? All the pharmacy tech could do was stare at me when I asked her why she hadn't called me to address this. Did they call my doctor? Nerp. Just left the issue to sit there and rot until I came in and forced them to address it. This is a pathetic representation of the CVS chain. I've never had problems like this at any other pharmacy, or another CVS. Absolutely pitiful. The funny thing is, this review has been a draft for months. Something happens, I get fired up, but then I feel bad and don't want to be "that guy" who only writes a Yelp review because they're pissed off. Retail staff is great. Store in convenient location but the pharmacist here today was rude, unfriendly jerk. I had come in get refill for my inhaler as my asthma kicked in. Asked I could get one. He said you don't have any such medications here or have you ever got this filled here. I said well not here but at different cvs. He said no you haven't. I said of course I did I used to work for a division of cvs and have get my prescriptions here. He said well I would see it if you had. I then had to call another store and she said that's strange as its right here. She then had call back and teach him where to look. This pharmacy is the worst of the worst. Not only is it a mess but the staffs are super slow and all have attitudes on their faces like you owe them money or something. Every time I go in and drop off a prescription, they have to type a whole essay before they can complete my drop-off which is ridiculous. This CVS location is rather big and decently organized. Parking in the Grossmont lot makes shopping easy. Staff here is quick but not friendly. It gets the job done.If my local CVS doesn't have something I need and the Rite Aid up the street doesn't have and I have a reason to deal with Grossmont parking or running another errand in the mall, I come here. read more

As I am writing this review I'm standing in line for the pharmacy for the second time in 2 hours... I've been faithful to cvs for over 20 years - coming from the east coast I'm used to prompt pharmacy service the service here is severely lacking. Whenever I have prescriptions called in I face double the wait time and am asked to return in half an hour to an hour. It's ridiculous and I'm switching my primary pharmacy. And review finished and I'm still in line... 15 minutes in line to pick up a prescription. Also I'm constantly met with excuses as being under staffed... Hire more people! read more

This pharmacy is slow, poorly run, and the staff are incompetent. On 3 separate occasions I have had my Dr. send in my prescription. Each time when I arrive the prescription has not been filled. I am then sent back and forth between pick up and drop off to locate the prescription. I am promised a 15 minute wait time. Unfortunately, the wait is closer to an hour. The staff act confused and bothered when I make an inquiry about the wait time. I will not be returning here. read more
