When the pharmacist came over, her facial expression alone made me feel as though I had done something wrong. Her demeanor and lack of customer service were disappointing. I asked if she could recommend something for my 14-year-old who was experiencing flu-like symptoms, and all she said was "Tylenol." She did not ask a single follow-up question about his symptoms, nor did she direct me to the appropriate aisle. I'm glad I didn't rely on her advice because I went to another aisle myself and found something more appropriate for his symptoms. My point is this: when working with the public whether as a cashier or a pharmacist professionalism is essential. You chose this career, knowing it involves interacting with customers. I came here today for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine…read more Roughly 30 seconds after receiving it, I felt light headed. A staff member, who said that he was also an EMT, took my vitals. My pulse was racing at 160. My blood pressure skyrocketed to 182/111. The young man also gave me a small bottle of water, which did not help. My vitals did not stabilize. He, nor the pharmacist who administered the vaccine were equipped, to help me. They did little for me. The young man said that he has an EpiPen but that my symptoms did not require use of one. Lastly, he did not even given me a glucose tablet when I asked for one. I thought my blood sugar was also low. I thought that I was going to die and called my next of kin. Thank goodness I had my phone with me. Staff called an ambulance, which came in about 10 minutes. The crew wheeled me out of the store in a stretcher and said that I likely have vasovagal syncope, which is a rare adverse reaction to the vaccination. The MD at LI Community did not formally diagnose me with that. Dr M. merely said that I had a "fast heart rate and racing pulse" in response to the Pfizer vaccine. An RN administered IV fluids and continuously monitored my vitals. Staff also gave me an EKG and withdrew some blood for testing. I spent four hours in the ER before my vitals stabilized. Lesson learned: ONLY GO TO A VACCINATION SITE THAT HAS AN EMS, AMBULANCE AND MEDICAL STAFF ON PREMISES. Google research indicates that Pharmacy staff is not equipped to handle severe reactions to any vaccine. I should have done my due diligence before I selected Walgreens as my vaccination site. Addendum: The pharmacist, Jenny, did call me the next day to check my status. She also informed me that she will be reporting this incident to VAERS, as required by Federal law.

I got a call from them yesterday ASSURING ME that it would be ready for me today (the last day I could take it before having to restart the medication entirely), and when I went to pick it up they were so unbelievably rude and unhelpful. The pharmacist told me that HE messed up, that he didn't see the mg amount changed, and that he didn't change the order, so the correct amount wouldn't get here in time. He told me another Walgreens has the correct mg, but that he can't transfer the prescription, then told me they had a different dosage, but that he couldn't give it to me. Useless options. All the while, the female pharmacist just stands in the back listening to the nonsensical word salad that this pharmacist is telling me and doesn't even have the decency to look me in the eye while yelling "there's nothing we can do. While this commentary pertains to a Costco in Holbrook, NY, my comments all address Costco as a company. I have visited another warehouse business but was disappointed. Costco continues to surpass anyone else. 1. Costco offers everything you could look for from food, to electronics, plants (in season), jewelry, automotive items, paper products, special shows of private vendors - offering cutlery, fish, furniture, but to name only a few. 2. Lighting within the warehouse is so much brighter. 3. Product placement isn't crowded with space between items. 4. The warehouse is immaculate and clean. 5. Staff are available and well informed of their products, availability and eager to assist shoppers. 6. The prices are usually always lower than other retail establishments. 7. What also separates Costco is their most generous return police limited to 90 days for computers and flatscreen televisions.there is such a diversity of flatscreens and brands you're bound to find something. 8. What especially was wonderful was the willingness to assist customers. Being disabled, I have trouble walking throughout the warehouse. I've occasionally asked a "front end" manager if someone could help me shop. A store associate assisted me taking my shopping list and gathering the items throughout Costco paying attention to packing the order. 9. The food court has a wonderful menu such as pizza all fresh, enjoyable at low prices. 10. The Kirkland Brand is exceptional. Never a disappointment. 11. Costco stands behind all their services. They have a good selection of convenience store items and cosmetics, though the way they lay out the store is a bit odd. I've never been a fan of stores where half the aisles are laid out diagonally. Luckily, I've been in there enough to know where most things are, and they do keep the store nice and clean. I've never come across a rude cashier, and I love that they are part of the Plenti rewards program. It's nice to accumulate discounts on not only drug store stuff, but things like gas as well! Upon walking up to the pharmacy counter there was one person being helped and one in front of me. Once it was my turn I had explained to the girl that my insurance had changed. She asked me to step over to the consultation side to wait for the pharmacist. As I waited about 20 minutes (the pharmacist was on the phone and filling prescriptions) for the pharmacist, there were 4 people who had walked up for vaccinations. The pharmacist proceeded to put all their vaccinations together and vaccinate them all before approaching me. Maybe these other people had appointments, but I'm not sure. As she finally makes her way over to me, she asks me how she can help me. Although the girl at the register had told her what I needed and gave her my insurance card. Once everything was entered it took me about 3 minutes to check out. However there were 12 people who came in after me who were helped and left as well as 8 people who were helped at the drive through. I'm sure there are rules about who can enter information, but it just seemed like I could have been helped and been out of there before half of the new people were helped instead of being made to wait. Since the last pharmacist left, it had been increasingly difficult to do anything with this particular pharmacy department. It seems as though across the board everything takes more time than it should. Unfortunately this has been seen at other CVS pharmacy's as well.
