I had a consultation first, then booked an appointment. I explained at the consult and the appointment what I wanted and did not want, over and over. I do not think it mattered at all, I got highlights of which are not the color I asked for, I asked not to blow dry my hair, and not put product in my hair after highlights , both done anyway. When I checked out I was charged for a blow dry, and I questioned it and it was taken off, but never would have been if I had not asked details of the charges. Cassie takes pride in creating the look that YOU want . She listens , adds suggestions and ultimately follows your choice . I have visited this salon several times and I have always been happy. When I attempted to make an appointment with the stylist I usually see she wasn't available so I opted to see someone else. I actually paid extra to see a "senior" stylist. All I needed was a quick trim on long curly hair. I've always felt like it'd be hard to screw up my hair because all I ever need is a trim and some light layers. We agreed 2 inches would be cut to get rid of my dead ends and I was ok with that. I've been going to cutting loose for years and had both good and bad experiences but since they go through staff so quickly I've stayed and tried new people. The last time I went I got a highlight and haircut and left wet because of how long it takes I ran out of time to get a blow dry. (questionably the best part) whenever I've done that before they took off $30, since that how much they charge for just a blow dry. This time I was charged $70! I called and they were very inconsistent in saying some stylists charge differently but typically you pay for the blow dry if you get it or not. why would I be paying for something I didn't get?! They just said sorry but didn't offer a free blow dry next time or anything. I told them I just won't be going back and they said sorry you feel that way...lost a client that his been loyal for 10+ years over $30! what a bad business model, oh well...there's more salons out there. read more

The manager is a condescending, defensive self righteous bitch. I have had my roots colored at several different establishments. I went in the salon as a blonde. I came out with brunette roots, and was told, "oh, it will fade". The best part was when I got to my car, I got to attempt to scrub the rest of the dark dye of my forehead. I called to complain and spoke to one manager of which said "well then she needs to learn". I agreed, I went back to fix the color. Barely a word was said, she had no idea I wasn't happy. I ask to speak to the manager, and I am approach by both of the lil treats. She proceeded to tell me people see colors in different ways. Then accused me of habitually complaining, "I'm not gunna have guests come in here and make my girls cry.... Who is crying?? No one. So poorly and unprofessional handled to say the least. I first visited this salon the week of Thanksgiving. Not knowing a stylist, the receptionist recommended a stylist. My hair is naturally dark but I have a fair bit of white hair in the front so it is a double process and heavy highlights to keep my hair blond. For this appointment I wanted all of my thick hair light blond . The bleaching process went well and I was grateful all of the brown/rust shades underneath were now blond. Because you sit at a table and not in front of a mirror, you cannot see any of the color application. Imagine my horror, when I was moved to the other side of the salon for the blow out when she removed the towel and my hair was the brightest shade of yellow! She attempted to tone it two more times with no better result. I told her I could not leave with my hair this bright color. She summoned the owner, Coral, and Coral ran toner from the roots down. I was satisfied. The stylist was a young gal named Cooper. FYI - I was there for 6 HOURS! My plan was to return after the holidays to see a senior/master stylist per Coral's recommendation. As I told Coral, my plan was to have my hair dyed soft pink (as I had done so previously). I was scheduled with Kristin on Wednesday 1/10. I needed the roots lightened and the decision was to go light pink. She had asked me if Iiked the toner that Coral had put on last time, and I agreed..I could not have explained more clearly that I wanted a soft pink color overall and now that my hair was all light blond, it should not have been a problem. Well, we went to the mirror and Kristin removes the towel and my hair looks dark. She talks about how my hair holds water and we discuss a Brazilian blow out for me. As she's drying my hair, I know she sees that it is not even close to the color pink but rather a light brown. I said to her, where's the pink! This is not pink! I did say I was okay with it because at least it was not YELLOW. I left booking an appointment for the following week for a cut. I got home and kept looking in the mirror asking myself, why am I accepting this color? It is no where near pink! I thought what if I return the following week and she nods her head yes to the way I want it cut and then cuts it differently? THE WORST THING A STYLIST CAN DO IS SAY YES, I CAN DO THAT AND THEN GIVE YOU SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND FEEL THAT YOU SHOULD BE OKAY WITH IT. Since the owner, Coral , had personally emailed me after the first experience, I emailed her and sent the photos of my hair to show her my hair color was brown. The salon texted me to confirm the appointment for next week today so I called and cancelled and explained that I had sent Coral an email that she probably had not read yet. The gal called me back and this is the most irritating part of it all: "I am sorry there was a mis communication about your hair color" THERE WAS NO MIS-COMMUNICATION. What I think happened is that Kristin put a base on my roots, colored the rest of the hair pink and then she mixed the two. The decision was to send me a check for the $155.00 (mind you I did tip both times even though it took 6 hrs the first time there and brown vs [ink hair this time). "we are not the salon for you" I said I didn't want a refund but rather you make it right..find out what the stylist did wrong as they record the colors they use in the computer. Be careful in investing your time, money, and commitment in this salon as they seem to pick and choose who they deem, "worthy" of their services. Today, I received a phone call from cutting loose salon letting me know that I was no longer welcomed in their salon after expressing my concerns over a recent appointment. After going to the salon for 4 consistent years paying top dollar for routine haircuts and highlights every six weeks plus 22% tips, I am no longer welcomed. During an November appointment, I was scheduled for a hair cut and hi-light but upon arrival the appointment showed a hair cut only...Since it was a few days before Thanksgiving and I was traveling to see family, I asked my stylist if anyone in the salon could put color on my hair or "fit me in" and I was told "NO" with no exceptions, At first, I was accepting of this response, but as my hair stylist continued with my hair cut, we were consistently interrupted by junior students asking questions on what to do next, all while I'm paying a $100.00 for premier services. As I sat there trying to make sense of my experience, I continued to feel troubled by the fact that no effort was dedicated to assisting me in securing an appointment ensuring my hair was ready for the holidays. In my mind, why wouldn't they want to maintain the satisfaction of their long-term customers who show up every six weeks and pays top dollar for their services? Finally, it was time to pay for my hair cut and I asked my stylist if she could fit me in any time before the holidays prior to my January appointment? Once again, no appointments were available, which left me completely confused and disappointed why anyone would treat a long-term customer this way. Since then, I have tried on several occasions, to get a new appointment and was told no appointments were available for six weeks. After calling a few weeks later, I was scheduled with a new stylist for an upcoming appointment then later the same day, I was contacted and told I was no longer welcomed in their salon. I have never remotely been treated with such disrespect in my life and truly feel the community needs to realize the lack of integrity this salon uses as their business model. BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE. I had included photographs of the atrocious job cutting loose did on my hair, but apparently they contacted Yelp to have those photos removed. Does that tell you just how bad it was? My appointment was to touch up the roots for my base color and to put in some more blond highlights. The first thing Chelsea, the stylist, and I did was sit down and talk about what I wanted and did not want. I was crystal clear in saying that I do not like any red in my end color - having dark hair lightened can result in a very brassy, reddish tone; some people like/want this, I do not. Chelsea dried a bit of my hair so I could get an idea of the final color, and it looked very good in the salon. I was a little concerned that she told me she used a violet shampoo on me to cut any reddish tones in my hair, and more concerned when she tried to sell me the product when I checked out but things looked fine in the salon. After getting home and looking at my hair dry and in normal light, I found all the retouched roots to be very brassy and the highlights didn't even start until almost half an inch from the root. Not cool! I just spent $170 for red roots and to look like I had a good three weeks worth of regrowth on my highlights. It looked particularly awful around my face with the dark and red roots. I walked into the salon with a blond that I loved, needing nothing more than a touch up and some fresh highlights, I left looking worse than when I went in. I've worn the color I walked in with for about 10 years, I do not have unrealistic expectations of what can and cannot be done to my hair. I called to complain, spoke to the manager, and was given an appointment for three days later to return and have the problem corrected. This does not make up for the time, fuel, and inconvenience of having to go back because the stylist failed to get the job done right. On top of that, I'm disabled and spending hours in a salon setting with the standing up, sitting down, leaning back, etc. causes me a good deal of pain. Now I have to repeat that too because the stylist failed to get the job done right. I returned for the correction four days later. Apparently my hair after touchup has always been this color, I just didn't know it - silly me. Apparently it's also looking this bad because I have "pigmented" and "unpigmented" (i.e. gray) hair naturally - how on earth has every other colorist I've been to managed to work around that and make my hair look so good that I get compliments from strangers???? Apparently having a messy, obvious dark line around my hairline is also totally normal - I just never noticed it before. So ... lots of highlights more and at least the darkness in the regrowth area is somewhat better. However the fact that the highlights don't go all the way down and still leave a very clear line that looks just like regrowth is still there. Since the stylist is apparently happy with the way my hair looks and feels that everything is just dandy, I'm sure Cutting Loose isn't going to mind me posting photographs of what they consider a good job to every review site and social media outlet I can think of. We should show off the quality of their work and how they're happy to have clients look when leaving their salon. A very poor experience. Very disappointing indeed. Obviously will not be returning to this salon. read more

I downloaded Yelp and made an account just to leave this review. People need to be aware that this salon is a waste of money. My experience: 1. My scalp was burned in numerous places during bleaching. 2. She put the extensions in so horribly none of them blended. 3. One of the pieces ripped my hair out. 4. The other was on my cow lick (which I told her about) so every time my hair parted you could see it. 5. She cut these awful choppy layers trying to blend my layers but the whole thing was a disaster. 6. Some of the pieces of extensions are so short I can't reuse them. I talked to the manager who told me to come in and get it fixed but not before she made excuses for my burned scalp. Vicky took all of the extensions out and redid them. 1. I kept telling her to put the front pieces at an angle so they camouflage my layers. She says she did but she didn't. Still have that mullet effect a bit. 2. I told her to keep it long but that I wanted an inverted bob. She cut that back straight and the front pieces are angled. It's a mess. She claims I said I didn't want my hair cut. I just wanted length. 3. When I asked her to just make it all one length she said that's a whole new haircut and she'd have to charge me. I was going to tip her but after that exchange I was done. Overall I was defeated by this salon. I gave up and left. I'm going to my regular stylist now to fix this. You can go to First Choice Haircutters, pay $10 and get a better cut. I gave two stars instead of one because my color does look very nice and my hair wasn't damaged at all. Don't waste your money. This is a below average salon that is overpriced. I know this is long, but worth the read......Having your hair cut should be an experience; one that renews, refreshes, or just re-enforces your awesomeness. My experience at Cutting Loose Salon met and exceeded all expectations. And although the salon was very clean and presented a very trendy, fashionable, and friendly environment...the credit for my remarkable experience solely belongs to my stylist "Cooper". Let me preempt this with that I am VERY untrusting of people cutting my hair (I have left more than my fair share of salons in tears), so much so that I normally cut my own hair. But I was at that point I was starting to look like I was cutting my own. Hair...not a good look. Moving on...Cooper started my experience by greeting me at the door in a very friendly manner and walked me back to her station. This is where I knew things were going to be different. Instead of immediately putting a cape on me and standing behind me, she pulled up a stool, sat "next" to me and had a discussion about my hair; it's past, present, and future. We talked reality vs. what I wish my hair was yet wasn't. I can't tell you how much I wish more stylist would do that instead of pretending I could pull off a haircut my hair couldn't handle. After we talked about what we were going to do, she stood behind me and walked me through the haircut. Now, for many people who have busy lives and are satisfied with a 10 minute Fantastic Sams hair cut this may have seemed like a long time to figure out a hair cut ,but when you are a person that believes in putting money on quality...it's worth the time. Cooper washed my hair and commenced to razor cutting. Normally at this point, I have a huge knot in my stomach, but I didn't. Even as she was cutting my hair she was explaining how I would be able to wear it and how it would better frame my face. When Cooper said she was done, and handed me that mirror....I had tears!!! I can't remember the last time I loved my haircut so much. And that it was "EXACTLY " what we discussed. I almost don't want to post this cause I want her as my personal stylist, but I can't keep someone so awesome all to myself. Just a little awkward when you first walk in, there's a kinda desk where you check in and the ladies in front hand you this personal info form to fill out which I thought was a bit excessive for just getting a hair cut. This is my second time being disappointed with color at this salon. I came in after the first color for a correction and decided to give my stylist a second chance. Big mistake. Upon our 2nd consultation I explained I wanted much thinner, blended color. I received these thick chunks of color AGAIN. She even said she colored over all the correction. I left without blow dry so didn't realize how bad it was until I got home. I'm so upset as I'm in my friends wedding next week. I have messaged management with no response to rectify either. I visited Cutting Loose with my out of town friend to have color done for the both of us. I was also getting a cut, she was not. After 6+ hours in the salon, I left with a wet head and choppy cut. I left the salon without my color being done because we were killing her visit sitting in the salon for 6+ hours. I booked another appointment a few days later to return for the color. After another 5+ hours, I left the salon with a burnt scalp and crazy colors in my "stripped down hair". I went through the holidays with my color being burnt orange, brown and grey. I couldn't color it because my scalp was so sore. If my colorist couldn't work on my hair, I should have been told that before she started the 11+ hour, $200+ fiasco. Not a fan of this "stylist level" system in their pricing structure for basic services. New to the area - Sent my 17 year old son here for a quick "clean up" and they charged him $48. Important note: he has short 'boy' hair... nothing fancy or long or anything. He even declined the wash so he they didn't even have to do that for him! He also didn't have them touch the top as he is growing it. They charged him $48 ($56 including tip) to shorten up/clean up around his ears and neck. This seems excessive to me for a basic/minimal service. For the person who simply needs a quick clean up at a reasonable rate be careful of this place. We are not "cheap" people and used to paying for quality boy/men cuts at around $28-35 (plus tip), at highly rated salons from stylists that keep their education current and do good work. When my boys were little, we'd had unsatisfactory cuts at some of the walk in places that charge around $12-$20 so we don't use them anymore and we don't mind paying more for experienced stylists at reputable salons that stay current on trends and education to get a good result, but $48 for what he had done is the most I've ever paid for how little he had done. OMG Cutting Loose is awesome! I really had no expectations but was BLOWN away by the great service they provide. I have thin straggly hair and I have needed a short cut for a long time. I walked in and asked who the receptionist could recommend. Even the receptionist has a great cut so I had hope! They sent me to Sam who is a female real life Edward Scissorhands. She snipped and trimmed to shear perfection. Her focus was unbreakable as her hands worked magic. Her work almost brought me to tears. She made me look BEAUTIFUL! Ok so then I also had scheduled a brow wax. Mimi was my esthetician and I have to admit because of her young age I was a little bit worried. But once again, after looking at HER brows, I had hope! Not only did Mimi shape my brows to perfection, I added a facial and my skin has not looked this good in years! I went in expecting very little, just a quick cut and brow shaping.
