Unprofessional. My "stylist" Patricia after 11 years decides she no longer wants to do my hair. I tried to get an explanation as to why. She wouldn't answer my texts. She wouldn't see me in person. She called from the salon late in afternoon. It was very noisy in background and she was speaking FAST. I could only hear something about negativity. I have moderate to severe hearing loss coupled with severe tinnitus. She wouldn't let me say anything as she spoke so fast. I managed to ask her not to put words in my mouth, which she rejected and kept uttering words I could barely hear. I had wanted to originally speak to her about the color of my hair she did a full hilight on. There was no way she would speak to me. When I asked her if she would see me one last time, she said she didn't want to "touch my head" I have never complained about her in 11 years. I've been going to her every 7or 8 weeks consistently. I even wrote the owner of the salon Taryn. Her response back was only that she has the right to choose who she wants to service. I get that. She neglected to address that I couldn't hear/understand WHY?! Very unprofessional in my opinion. Thankfully I have found someone who actually gave my hair some style, nice color and way less expensive. I had no idea my type of hair could be styled in any other way than she had for all those years. My new stylist has 30 years of experience, so maybe that's what made the difference. Honestly, I waited a few months before writing this review because I am empathetic and never want to just slander a business, however, the service I was given left my hair in shambles for ages (and still to this day I have bleach damage and color fading in chunks. I was charged about $150 for some blue money pieces (not bad) and I left a nice tip of course, but only a day later, was told by two people out in public that I had orange in the back of my hair. To my surprise, a photo was taken of the back of my head and a HUGE bleed out of bleach was left all over the back of my head. Considering my hair was dried, I find it odd this huge bleed-out was not noticed... By the way: I was left with very greasy hair leaving the salon hair since they don't apparently wash for vivids) (odd because other salons have always washed my hair and left it super clean before I left) and needed to use dry shampoo for days. I called to let them know what happened and was not offered an appointment for over a week. Seriously? So I have to walk around with orange bleach-stained hair for a week? I also sent a dm with the images and received no response. I ended up canceling my correction appointment because of pure fear my hair would be messed up again. I did my first wash in a week and guess what, the color fell out. Another salon had to redo it right after my appointment including added bleach on unevenly bleaches strands to get the color right. The color faded before I even washed it the first time. To this day, the strands done by this place are fried, not to mention I noticed my hair super brittle and fried during the appointment brush out. Truly so sad this happened to me, I was offered no refund and instead have spent months trying to correct the damage. Please do not go here if you want to leave with lasting, good-quality locks. It's so upsetting what happened to me and I would not wish it on anyone. I'd rather spend more for good quality and long-lasting color at a trusted place. Came here to get my hair cut and styled and it was just okay. When spending over $100 it should have been much better than okay. Patricia did my hair and anything I asked for was met with resistance and shot down. I also asked for my curls to be pinned up so I could take them out right before my event to ensure my curls lasted and that request was also denied. She wanted to do the same old thing she always does even though that is not what I was asking for or wanting. Blow dry was not good. Salon seems to cater to an older clientele so if you are looking for modern on trend hair styling this probably is not the place for you. I won't be back. read more

Has helped me through some rough hair times, introduced me to products that fit my hair needs and even treatments that have made my hair stronger and healthier than ever! However, I doubt they use real product from Aveda since the smell was too strong from what I have been used too. I have found my forever salon!!!! I recently moved and was looking for a place near me. I searched and researched and found this GEM! I called and immediately fell in love. The young lady who answered the phone was super sweet and polite. After a few questions to find out what I wanted , she set me up with Yanet. I came in for my appointment, nervous and anxious. I haven't professionally cut or colored in quit awhile. Yanet listened and quickly knew what I wanted and knew what went best with my face. I expressed that I would LOVE to go a funky color. (Everyone else told me that I couldn't reverse all the years of black color.) She seemed excited to try. We did a bleach test and it turned out great!!!! I loved her excitement!!!! I received an e-mail from Edward James thanking me for participating in their Earth Month Cut-a-Thon this past Sunday. For $30 I got a haircut and had I had more time, my hair would've been blow-dried too! I was really impressed with the hair stylist I was assigned to. I believe her name is Patricia. She did the BEST hair consultation I have EVER had. And I've learned from Tabetha's Salon Takeover about consultations! She was so awesome I think Tabetha would've gave her an A!! She styled my hair so well! It looks exactly how she said it would look dry. She actually made it look better than the $75 cut I had gotten before! She asked me before hand how I wanted and of course made her own recommendations. She also offered advise on products and explained what each was for. Also told me which product she was putting in my hair while she was running her finger through my hair which so many stylists don't do. I am terrified of salons because other than one hairdresser I had many years ago, it's always a disaster and I've resorted to just box dying my roots with dark brown because it's the only thing that covers my very very grey hair and letting it grow. But being super pale, dark brown hair makes me look like Morticia Adams. With salons, I've always gone in for consultations before as requested, sent and shown pics, and even so I've been given clown-orange roots, rust brass balayage, etc... ENTER ARLENE. I saw a picture of her work and thought she'd maybe be able to make something decent of the previous 2 attempts of balayage I had in the last 3 months which were not even presentable so I'd be able to attend my best friend's wedding without a hat on my head. She beyond exceeded and actually gave me my dream colour, not just a decent fix. She *truly* listens, and *wants* to listen, to what you want for your look to make you happy. I showed her the same pictures I showed the other two hairdressers, said all the same things - I wanted a very natural look - but she was the first one who genuinely listened and with her skill and patience she made it so my hair looks basically like a copy/paste of my reference photos. I have been going to this salon for years. Sayuri really does a great job, and knows what looks good on me, rather than just following what I want from the style books she has there. Every time after a visit, I get compliments on how good I look. Claudia the receptionist is great too. Even though I don't visit often, she greets me like an old friend. I went and did my hair today with Patricia and as usual I was very happy with the results. Something I appreciate with Patricia is how realistic she is. When you show her a picture of how you want your hair done, she explains to you how it would look on your hair type and helps come up with ways to ensure the best results. Every time I leave the salon I have learned something new about my hair and learned techniques on how to keep it healthy and beautiful. Today I went in for some coloring and a trim and I could not be happier. Patrica even helped me take pictures of the end results which is always appreciated. This is the best salon I have ever been to (and trust me I have been to many). I have been going to Edward James Salon for over 2 years now. The first time I went, I was worried it would be too expensive for my student budget since it is an Aveda salon, but its actually very affordable considering the quality and level of service you get. My stylist is Patricia and I only go to her. She makes my hair look so good I walk out of the salon feeling like a super model. She transforms my crazy fine curly hair into silky smooth tresses. My hair is really difficult to blow-dry and she makes it look like a walk in the park. My hair stays styled for about 3 days. The reason I only go to Patricia is because she understands my hair and takes into account my lifestyle. My hair is very curly and I am very low maintenance. Patricia knows just how to cut my hair to make styling easy for me at home. She is very knowledgable and even teaches me how to style my hair at home so my hair always looks its best between salon visits. I always get compliments on my hair both after salon visits and in between visits. People even ask me what hair products I use because my hair looks so healthy. I completely attribute this to Patricia's expertise and recommending the best products for my hair.. Products. Another thing I love about Patricia is that she is not pushy at all about selling Aveda products. She only recommends what she knows works and has even told me not to buy certain products she knows will not work on my hair. (On a side note: Aveda products have totally changed my life. I know the products can be pricy but a little bit goes a long way and your hair will thank you for it.) Salon. The salon itself is very beautiful and inviting. The decor is very clean, simple and modern. All the stylists maintain a very positive and professional work environment.
