I'm relieved to find a nice salon with a stylist I like so close to my new house. I loved my old salon and stylist up in Pembroke Pines/Miramar, but it was just too far of a drive now that I live farther south. Taryn, you my boo, boo. That being said, the salon could use some better lighting and maybe a few candles/air fresheners. Ambiance is somewhat less than perfect, but I've seen a lot worse. Prices are also more than reasonable. Natural products, lovely company, good customer service, close to my house. Need I say more? read more

I love Patricia! I used to be the type that jumped from hair stylist to hair stylist, never really significantly impressed by anyone enough to make it a regular thing.....but then I met Patricia. She has been doing my hair for a few years now and I have never left disappointed. She really helped me once when I decided to mess my hair up by attempting to dye it turquoise. I totally messed it up and I thought it would be unfixable but she managed to somehow conjure up a hair dye potion to match my hair color like the skillful magician..er, I mean hair stylist, that she is. This says A LOT because I have natural red hair and the color is really difficult to match. She really saved me there. I like the salon too! They usually offer yummy tea and are super friendly and professional. Love the Aveda products too but I don't always purchase them because they can be a little pricey for me. If you have the money, they're totally worth it though. Great products , Great salon! read more

My experience at Edward James salon was GREAT. I was in search of someone with experience in hair color and found that in Taryn! After a consult about the direction we were going to take, Taryn gave special attention to new growth that had faded quickly before. She matched my natural color pretty much perfectly. Having been to another professional for this service before (with varied results), it was easy for me to make subsequent visits/appointments while I was there. With the natural products that Aveda provides, which did not leave me smelling like a bottle of Windex, again, made it easy to plan future visits. Very, very happy with the outcome! I just got an amazing partial highlight and cut done by Mavis and she specializes in blondes. When I was all finished I exclaimed, "I am jealous of my hair!" That is how good my hair looks. ;) I would recommend this salon to any close friend or family member and Mavis is the girl to go to!!! All four of us do our hair with Arlene every time and she's absolutely amazing. We've gone for hair styling, cut, color and blow dry and we're always super happy with our results. I just blow dried my hair with her today and had to write a review because home girl is feeling herself! BB vibes through the roof! Props to Arlene for that. Thumbs up to Edward James Salon and my hair stylist Mauricio Giraldo. Unfortunately, I don't live in Miami, but every time I visit my family I am sure to pay a visit to Mauricio as well. He is a perfectionist and you can tell that he loves what he does because with a lot of charisma he is always willing to listen to what you want and takes the time to make it perfect. Plus! he also has a lot of tricks to make your hair look amazing even in humid Florida. I just came from there today and thought I should share how happy I am :) Tip: while you are there get the Aveda tea that they offer, it is really good! I came in and asked for a men's haircut. The stylist did a completely different haircut from what I wanted after showing pictures of the haircut and left the back corners of my hair uneven. I'm assuming it was because she wasn't experienced with men's hair. They did give me a full refund after so I appreciate the customer service. read more

Aveda products is what originally brought me to this salon nearly 10 years ago, but it's Mavis, my hair stylist, and the staff that has me coming back every month! Since that time, I've expanded my services to include mani, pedi and waxing with Andrea. As you enter the salon, you are warmly greeted, like family, by Claudia or Sandra and most everyone staff member. Mavis successfully converted me to a redhead several years ago. He greets me like an (old) friend, gives me a warm Samoan hug, complimentary relaxing massage and pot of coffee. Thank goodness I have the best hairdresser in London particularly now during this lockdown! My hair has grown and kept its style and I am being asked by strangers, who has cut my hair! This salon is 100% deserving of its great reviews. I'm normally very afraid of getting my hair done in new places and it has kept me out of a salon for a long time, but I'm so glad I came in after several friends recommended it. I made an appointment over the phone with Claudia, the incredibly sweet and friendly receptionist. When I came in I felt super welcome and comfortable. My appointment was with Patricia. I don't think I want anyone else to do my hair ever again. We started talking about what I was looking for, but she also took my ideal maintenance level and styling tendencies into consideration, which was perfect. I went from very long, lower back length hair to slightly below the shoulders, and that's a big change for me. But I really could not be happier with this haircut. She got everything I wanted from what we discussed and from the pictures I showed her when I arrived. I've walked out of salons before looking and feeling great, but found myself totally unable to recreate the look once I'm home or using my own basic products. This was easily the best haircut I've gotten because not only did it look fantastic, but Patricia taught me an easy and simple way to really make my hair look as nice as it did when I walked out. Everyone I dealt with at Edward James salon was friendly and welcoming - Jorge, the salon owner, and Claudia, front desk, greeted me upon my arrival and were so pleasant and offered me water right away. I saw Taryn for a full highlight on blonde hair and a haircut. Taryn listened to my description of the look I was going for, including looking at pictures I saved on Pinterest and she did an exceptional job on my hair! She was even able to take me a little bit early and did her best to do a full highlight in the shortest time she could which is tough given I have a LOT of very fine hair. I love both the color and the cut and will definitely be scheduling an appointment with Taryn again. I felt like a new woman leaving the salon and my husband even remarked how much he liked my new do :) I found Edward James on Yelp and they lived up to their amazing reviews!! I love this place. Patricia has been cutting my hair consistently for over 6 years. She is fantastic. I completely trust her to keep me looking sharp. I had struggled to find someone that could consistently give me a good haircut, and she has always delivered. She used to get aggravated because when she would ask me how I wanted it, I would just tell to use her best judgement- I trusted it that much. (Now she just goes to work and let's me know when anything will be different). I also love that Claudia calls me to remind me of my appointmentments, and that rescheduling, when necessary, is a breeze. I'm not a big product guy, but I do like the Aveda product. Broke down and got the rosemary mint shampoo once, but liked it too much and used it too fast. The pomade is absolutely the best I've ever used. Far better than any of the axe line, and it last me 3X longer. The Aveda tea is also nice. Claudia or Patricia always bring me a cup when I get there. Also factor in the fact that I get two scalp massages- one with a little oil before the shampoo and one during the shampoo- and I cannot fathom ever going anywhere else. read more

I went here on a whim when my usual stylist wasn't available and I really needed a haircut. I was the last appointment of the day, so that could have been a factor in my experience... though I don't think it should matter. I got my hair cut by Mauricio. He was very nice, and gave a great scalp massage to start things off. But there was a definite language barrier as I don't speak spanish. I had pictures, though, and that cleared things up a bit. My hair was in bad condition, but not so much that I needed a treatment or anything. Mauricio really did a lot of work on my hair (start to finish was about 1.5h), so I guess I was expecting an amazing finish but it really wasn't. He kept saying "Look how healthy it is now! So soft", but my hair is mostly always like that and ALWAYS is after a hair cut. I mean, if a stylist can't make it shiny and soft... who can? The length and shape looked good after he finished, but since then I've realized that the bangs are pretty much the same length and there's a weird length to the back so that when I put my hair up in a pony tail two tendrils are several inches longer than the rest. I didn't notice at first because he curled my hair (I was going out afterwards) before I left. I really believe Mauricio tried, but just didn't get it right. And because of the styling at the end I didn't see it in time to correct it. Also, my cut wasn't complicated - layers and bangs like Reese Witherspoon's hair for the "In Bloom" Avon fragrance campaign. Overall, it was cheaper than my usual place and easy to get an appointment. But I won't be going back. read more

I asked her for what she would feel would be best for me since I have a lot of wavy/curly hair and is very suffocating at times. I can't say enough positive things about this place. I've been going for a few years and I always leave satisfied. I try to go every two or three months, because I want to keep my long hair healthy.
