It's very expensive especially for the quality and preparation of the steaks and sides (Brussel sprouts and fingerlings) - overdone, tough and lacking flavor. Given the restaurant presents itself as an upscale steakhouse, it was disappointing. I gave them two stars for service despite deserving one. All staff were friendly yet professional. Soooooooo, so disappointed. I'd heard how good Cuts Steakhouse was. We were celebrating a birthday. No mention of such yet it was on our reservation. My MR Filet was Well done, my baked potato with butter and sour cream came with cheddar cheese and pork belly, no butter or sour cream BUT the asparagus was perfect and the cocktails were all excellent. Service was good just very disappointed in our food. My husband's New York was Very, very fatty. He cut about 1/2 of it away trying to get the fat off. It, on the other hand, was undercooked! I wish I could give five stars, at first when we arrived there on a Friday night, we were standing there while servers were passing by for about five minutes until the rude host came up to us without greeting us nor smiling saying how can I help you. We informed her we were here for two, she responded rudely saying we only have outside seating. We informed her it was OK for us to be seated outside. Once we were seated nobody had offered us anything to drink until about 10 minutes in. The young gentleman came up to a table dropped off some waters and walked away without asking if we wanted something else to drink or saying our server will be right with us. It took about almost 25 minutes for us to order anything as an appetizer or any other drink. It took 30 minutes for our food to come out, I do understand, it does take time since they make everything is from scratch and fresh. The food quality, The calamari was very delicious extremely crispy just how I like it! And a very flavorful The roasted garlic, bread, and brie was delicious except the fact that the brie was cold. They did not have it melted. The clam chowder was very delicious and very appetizing! The salad was very large and very filling The macaroni and cheese was chalky personally did not like it. They did say they make it from scratch the moment someone orders. The ribeye steak with the butter was very salty, but it was pretty delicious on the parts It didn't have a lot of salt. I did remove the butter from the ribeye because I felt like it had a lot of salt. The finger potatoes were unseasoned The ribeye steak with the herbs was delicious The other potatoes were a little hard and salty Overall the steak was very tender and delicious, I just wish it wasn't so salty. We did inform her it was our first time coming to this restaurant while she took our drink orders.. They do celebrations for birthdays, they don't sing that's what the server informed us about, but they do bring a little dessert for the birthday person. For those who are still paranoid about Covid, the tables are still close to one another. If you want to be disturbed while eating with the loud cars driving fast, don't go at night time. Can't find a parking, took 15 mins to find something I chose this restaurant because it was part of an assignment, to review a restaurant I have never been to and one that is well known, and write about it for my fellow classmates to see one another's reviews. The ambiance and bar is great. Food was good. We made reservations and were sat in a corner booth that we ended up sharing with another couple which made the night just a bit awkward. We could both hear every word of each other's conversations. My filet was a bit over charred on the outside but inside was great. We also had specialty butters but I didn't feel that it was worth the extra $16 for two slices of butter. We'll definitely go back. They're still fairly new and probably working out a few kinks in the kitchen. We had an amazing server that was very quick and attentive. We were really excited to try this place, but unfortunately it was disappointing! First off, you only have 3 options for steak and prices are just way too high for what you get and considering it's Turlock. We asked for medium well and both were cooked as medium rare. They tried to fix one of our plate but even the second time it was rare! There was blood on the plate, that's not medium well. The steak had no seasoning, very bland. There was way too much oil on the sides, to the point you were tasting only the oil! The calamari, was okay, nothing special. The service is SLOW! I wish I had my receipt to check to see if we paid for water, because there is a water fee if you check the menu! Nice restaurant. Friendly welcome from the young ladies at the hostess stand. Friendly service from our server Abigail. The menu is clear, well organized and easy to navigate. The offerings are creative and current. The calamari appetizer was delightful, light, hot, tender and fresh. The toasted bread was flavorful and sized perfectly. Best to note how many guests are seated and serve at least that number of bread pieces since they are quite small. The execution of our entree's was fairly quick but one of the New York's was quite over-cooked. Medium-well rather than medium-rare. A bit chewy as well but excellent char flavor. Sides were pretty good, the Au-gratin potatoes good and the mac-n-cheese pretty good. Desserts were quite modest in size(Berry Cobbler and Brownie) but tasty. The layout of this new steakhouse is curious, with the bar in the back and no high tables there but plenty of room for them. Yet two high tables are in the front of the dining room. Only one lane allows movement from dining to bar, bathroom and much of the kitchen. A pinch point. So my wife and I just finished our meals at Cuts Steakhouse for lunch. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised. I am super picky with my steak but since it was our first time here and well Cuts is a steakhouse... I have to try a steak. We ordered the calamari for appetizer my wife got the New York Blue Sandwich with Rosemary Fries and I got the Ribeye with Rosemary Fries. The Calamari was good, It was mixed with fried veggies. My wife and I feel like it was a little greasy. The New York Blue Sandwich was really good. My wife was super happy with it. The New York Steak cooked just right and tender. And the melted blue cheese complemented the steak so good. Now I'm to the Ribeye the reason for a loss of a star. I ordered the Ribeye flame grilled and rare. When it came out the crust looked delicious and just a little smoky. But the first cut into the steak it was cooked till Medium. The closer I got to the center the better it was looking the center was Mid-Rare then when I got to the opposite end of the steak on the Ribeye cap it was finally rare. The steak was unevenly cooked. Is the a deal breaker? Nope! I will most definitely come back and eat here again. So my expectations were low given that this place has only been open a month or so, but it was really fantastic. Service was excellent, very friendly staff with a good sense of how much conversation to have; very engaging but not annoying. Even being newly opened there didn't seem to be any service issues; we never felt pushed nor did we feel like we were waiting. The staff seem to be top notch and dialed in. We had the calamari to start that was cooked very well. Not greasy, not overly battered. It came with some tempura veggies as well; that was nice surprise. I had the filet, pan seared with herb butter, my wife had the ribeye pan seared with bone marrow butter. They were perfectly cooked, very flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth tender. We had four different sides: Mac and cheese, potatoes au gratin, rosemary fries, and roasted garlic. It was all very tasty and simple. Flavors were perfectly subtle. For dessert we had bread pudding. Honestly it was a miss. Too dry and a bit bland. My recommendation is to skip dessert as the choices are limited currently. We had a good cup of coffee and an amaretto. The wine list isn't too extensive, so we brought a bottle from home and paid the corkage fee. This place is excellent. We'll be back. read more

I'm not sure where to put my stars because we were left a little confused by the experience. My partner and I are always eager to try new places, so we made a mental note of this when a permit sign was posted on the vacant building months ago. "Cuts" immediately sounds like it will be a standard steakhouse, but the articles released seemed optimistic of the intended fare. There was an unfortunate lack of a chef presence in any article or on the website, so again we assume this place will be standard. He and I went on a Friday night, and the place was buzzing with a very casual crowd. The bartender was approachable and talkative while we waited for our reservation time. The cocktails seemed the same as anywhere local. The exaggerated high-back booths would have been better in a purposeful 1950's fine-dining aesthetic, but here it just felt claustrophobic and out-of-place. Overall it wasn't a terrible atmosphere. The menu was ok. Build-your-own-plate seems on-brand for the vibe, though there seemed to be a significant disconnect with the restaurant's identity. Do you want to be a place that serves bloomin' onions, or do you want to be known as a fine dining establishment? I didn't get a chance to view the desert menu, but wouldn't be surprised to find a lava cake. The server was eager and attentive, though lacking the knowledge needed to inform her tables of the very specialty meat. It would be helpful if her leadership would provide better education to its staff. "Our specials are a tomahawk steak and a wagyu ribeye" feels very under-whleming. Like going to a local bar & grill. I got salmon with carrot puree and roasted garlic. The plating was not ideal with the protein smashed into the carrot mash with little care, and while the salmon was cooked appropriately, it was incredibly bland. It was... okay. My husband got the Wagyu steak. Here is where we were run through it a little. The server was unsure of it being American or Japanese or its rating. The server also never indicated the weight or price of the steak. When it arrived, again plated very aggressively, it was so large (and frankly ugly) we could only assume that it was just another Snake River Farms cut so commonly passed off. It certainly wasn't treated like Japanese wagyu or plated as such, and indeed a restaurant wouldn't just serve us this large of a piece of steak without first informing us of its cost. Let's be honest; this isn't a place you would expect to spend more than 100-150 on anything. The sides were green beans; though they used "haricot vert," I'm not sure they were deserving of the french name. They had an almost sour after-taste. Something was terrible or conflicting with other ingredients, but additionally, they had a previously frozen feel. Back to the steak - it was very fatty, but it was tender and had a good flavor, we still weren't convinced it was actually Japanese wagyu, and this could be because of its improper handling and preparation, or it could be because of the interaction with the server left us feeling insecure about the meat. Who knows, but at this point, we were anxious for the check to see what precisely the situation would be. 350.00 for the plate alone. Making our total for dinner about 450 (before tip). I would gladly pay 350.00 for a single meal from Michael Mena, David Chang, Joshua Skenes, and Dominique Crenn. Not from a Central Valley real estate developer, from a place whose name reminds me of a small-town haircut spot, and not from a site with zero identifiable chefs, where wagyu is served in a way no better than an Outback Steakhouse. We likely won't return, and while it was an "ok" meal, I didn't leave feeling good about any part of that experience. Had we been informed of this before ordering, we would have opted for something we felt the restaurant was capable of serving. We would have probably left feeling much better about the evening and returned. It's unfortunate as we do spend quite a lot of money on dining out. read more
