I went on the "Mt Rainier Highlights Tour" with a group of around 20 people. Our tour guide was this guy with a cool beard named "Lucas". He was a little late, but he made up for it with how much of an interesting character he was. Throughout the journey, all the way up to stopping at Elbe on our way out, he talked our ears off, but I could listen to that guy talk all day. He told us historical info about Rainier, stories about his personal life as well as previous experiences doing the same tour I went on. Very open to questions too! Took us to Fred Meyers (Kroger) on the way to the park so we could buy some lunch. Showed us all the cool spots to take photos, was very clear on times to meet back, where to go, and even gave us his phone number in case we needed it for something. Since I went during early april, there was still a lot of snow on the ground. Lucas provided all 20(or so) of us with these shoe attachments called "microspikes", which allowed us to walk on the snow/ice covered ground with relative ease. He even made it work for someone with small feet (a kid). Told us over and over to drink water & be safe and whatever else. So uh, great guy, great amenities, great info, great experience. We were in Seattle for a quick weekend getaway and found this unique Reindeer Farm and Leavenworth day trip. Phoned the company and spoke to LaToya who answered all my questions. She's both friendly and professional and effectively reserved the last 2 spots for me and my husband. We joined last Sunday's trip and met Joe at the meeting place at 6:45am. Bus was clean, snacks were plenty, bathroom breaks were timed perfectly. We had a truly fantastic time. Visiting and touching the reindeers as well as walking around charming Leavenworth gave us memories that will last forever. Money and time well spent! Lucas was our guide. Wow. What an incredible trip! Lucas was really informative, funny and kept the mood high during our day trip from Seattle to Mt Rainer. We had several scenic stops to take pictures; learning more about the area from Lucas each time. The mountains were breathtaking. We always had enough snack and bathroom breaks. When we got to Paradise we had 3 hours to explore: hike, eat lunch and even visit the visitor center. If you're looking for a warm lunch in Paradise head the the back of the visitor center. On our way back from Paradise we stopped to for a short hike and learned a bit about the area then headed down to a local restaurant for blackberry pie (worth it!). Such a great experience. For lunch bring some cash ($20+) but if you're like us and forget cash.. lol there are plenty of places around the winery you'll be tasting at to grab food at! We ended up getting a yummy pizza from a winery next door AND tried more wines at the new winery! So if you forget cash... do NOT FREAK OUT!!! There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat. The wineries were a blast!! The first stop was a little pricey for the tasting but the tour is fun. They give you wine to try during the tour... so take the tour and get some wine out of it the second winery is amazing they had a tasting set up for the bus guests and let you purchase a bottle of wine included with your tasting. For example the tasting is $10 (for a lot of wines) and the Pino Gris was $20. I only had to pay $20 because they included the wine tasting with the bottle purchase. Great deal. and they are so so fun and nice!!!!! Would love to check out more wineries!!! The falls.... omg omg so so so beautiful. Took the four hour city tour with Captain Steve at the helm. The itinerary was pretty packed: we were to see the highlights of Seattle. I was stoked, even though I have been ripping and running throughout Seattle this week by foot, rail, bus, Monorail, tram etc, to see places I was unable to get to. Customized Tours picks up at most hotels which is great because I have been to tours, especially in Europe, where one has to travel to your agency office. That can be taxing, especially when one doesn't know how to get from point A to B when you first arrive to a new place. The tour bus arrived promptly as stated in my email at 9:40am. Due to COVID the bus and tour were not at capacity. Have to admit it was nice being part of a small tour, it felt private. Our tour guide, Captain Steve, should be renamed Mayor of Seattle: he has so much knowledge of this great city and was eager to share it. Not only with words but with music, for example, passing the houseboat Tom Hanks resides at in Sleepless in Seattle, Harry Connick crooning 'A Wink and a Smile'. There were so many great places packed in our agenda: Pioneer Square(Glassblowing Studio), Centurylink Field and Memorial Stadium, International District ( Panama Hotel), Hiram M. Chittendam Locks( looking for seals and salmon)Kerry Park, Lower Queen Anne, Public Market( Ivars Fish Bar), Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Waterfront, Lake Union, Fremont, ( Mischief Distillery), Fisherman Terminal( Little Chinooks) , Westlake Avenue( Sleepless Boathouse). The parentheses includes stops for lunch, goodies and souvenirs. The best part was meeting new people and having a tour guide who loves this city, sharing history and great memories. He stopped at so many gorgeous locations of the park, the most breathtaking being Paradise where we had about 2 hours to explore on our own. It was a perfect sunny, clear day. Good option to take an easy day to explore Mount Rainer - seeing waterfalls and big trees, doing short hikes, and enjoying fun facts and stories from Lucas. It is also a good starter to get to know where to do hikes, horseback riding or spring water saunas if you want to come back again later. Cory picked me up at a Sheraton which was walking distance from my hostel. There was a full house of people for this tour but we left on time. Left at 11:45 AM and headed to Chateau Ste Michelle Winery. 11:45AM-12: 40 PM: Chateau Ste Michelle (You can enjoy your lunch here! 1PM-3PM: Snoqualmie Falls (30-45 min here) 3PM-4PM: Boehm Chocolate (Yummy!) Overall, very great tour! I truly enjoyed Cory as my tour guide and found him very informative! He taught me alot about the City of Seattle. Quick facts: *What is a Boutique Estate Winery? A winery that grows their own fruit! *Did you know there are 900 wineries in Seattle; tables number 3 in the US. Do I recommend this tour? Heck Yes!! Definitely, recommend doing this tour! You won't regret it! My only con about this tour was the significant price for the 6 hours, however, lunch nor the wine tasting fee was included. I paid almost $100 and I still can't see what I paid for besides the gas. I honestly think that is a hefty price for only 6-hours of time. I feel ripped off! Horribly disappointing. 3 stops. Only 1 in the park. The 2nd stop was an opportunity to rent kayaks or paddle boards. Would have been good to know in advance so we could have dressed for it and made arrangements to store our electronics. There we were, fully dressed with full backpacks incl cell phones staring at rental boats for over an hour since there was no advance communication. There was Only one stop in the park. $175 to see Olympic National Park for one stop of only an hour. Absolutely not worth it!Also a more than a little scary Leaving the park the driver at least doubled posted speed limit multiple times on the way down the mountain. He told us he'd get us down quick. We did a full day Mount Rainer tour with Joe. Joe was/is fantastic. By 8:00am the entire bus was laughing and having a great time. He is full or knowledge and showed us the best photo spots as well as history of the park and region. While we were in Seattle we took a day to visit Mount Rainer National Park! It was a crowded day in the park, but our guide did a great job of getting us to many of the sites and avoiding many of the long lines!! The water falls are beautiful, but the mountain is the reason for the trip! The views of the Mountain were AMAZING!! So Majestic and Beautiful!! The view jn Mirror Lake was worth the trip! Good knowledge and added some humor to the experience. Talked just the right amount. Of note is that what you're paying for is only the transportation and the guide. Wine tastings are an extra fee. You do get a couple of tastes of chocolate for nothing. This wasn't a big deal to us but it might be to some people. The wineries themselves were really nice. Goose Ridge is small and you spend the entire time in the shop with a very knowledgeable employee. At Chateau Ste Michelle the employees are more like bartenders and you get to walk around the beautiful grounds. The falls and Boehm were pretty cool as well. A decent tour. We signed up for two tours with them. You can get a discount if you let them know in advance for multiple tours. 1st one was for the Boeing and that was a great tour overall. It started out shaky as we got on the wrong tour van, there are quite a few different tour vans picking up at the hotels so be careful getting on the right one. They all end up at the same place though. Hotel pick up was very convenient, the van was clean and it wasnt packed. It was a little rushed at the end trying to head back but they timed it well. They made the tour very easy and stress free. 2nd was for the Mt. Rainier tour, but that was cancelled last minute due to the govt shutdown. I was really surprised the Customized tour didn't bail on us, but they had a back up plan arranged for us. They took us to another mountain to experience sledding, snow shoes, Snoqualmie waterfalls and a chocolate store. We could have done without the chocolate store, but overall we had a great time. What turned out to be a lost day turned into one of the most fun in Seattle. We also had a mishap with the van with a broken window, but our driver was deligengently repairing it to keep the van warm. I decided at the last minute that I wanted to visit Mt Rainier but I was on a budget so Customized Tours was perfect for me. The bus was comfortable, the guide was cheerful and full of information about the National Park and was able to tell us about some of the popular tourist sites we were passing on our way to the mountain. We did the Wines and Waterfall Tour last Sunday. Making reservations was easy, the shuttle was right on time and we had a great driver/guide. Bring some cash for wine tasting and lunch. Goose Ridge Winery - the staff guide you through tasting and answer lots of questions. The Wine was great and if you want to try something that isn't on the initial list, they are happy to assist. We ordered some to get shipped home. Chateau Ste Michelle Winery - This is a free-form visit. Wonder around at will. Tastings are at your own pace and the employees are more like bar-tenders but happy to tell you their favorites and want your opinions. Snoqualmie Falls - Beautiful at the Falls and also a great drive to and from. Take a video of the falls - you will enjoy it later. Boehm Chocolate - The Chocolate is good but the line management could use some process improvement for checking out. Try the buttercream bon-bons. We had a great day and would highly recommend this tour before or after a cruise. Flights were cheaper getting home on Monday so we got right off the cruise ship on Sunday - Took an Uber to the Sound Hotel, checked our bags and got on the waterfall/wine shuttle at the hotel door. When visiting a new city, I typically always look for a good tour - be it those hop-on/hop-off double decker busses, a duck tour, or some other popular tour to show me around town so that i literally don't have to think about anything - just sit back, relax, and let someone else show me around and tell me what I need to hear about a place. Here in Seattle, I did a Duck Tour for the land/water experience, and then took a Customized Tour for a trip to the vineyards and Snoqualmie Falls. The customized tour was great! We had a really friendly, chill tour guide named Corey who picked us up right in front of our hotel at 9:45am and, after picking up a few others at various other hotels, took us to his favorite winery (Tefft Cellars), Columbia Vineyards, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Snoqualmie Falls, and Boehms Chocolates before dropping us off right back where he picked us up. Door-to-Door service, 3 great wine tastings, a fantastic boxed lunch (not included in the cost of the tour), a visit to a natural waterfall, and a delicious choco shoppe founded by an actual Swiss Austrian guy who sounded pretty awesome, if I may say so myself. Corey wasn't cheesy at all, and he was really informative. Definitely seems like he loves his job, which makes all the difference. Highly recommend! read more

If in Seattle and want a good tour this company is the best. We've used other tour companies and they are good but....... We opted for a private tour so we could have more personal one on one attention and do what we wanted to do not what was on a schedule. Joe P the tour guide was great!!! As a travel agent I recommend and book alot of tours for my clients. Tour guides come a dime a dozen and most are just generally going through the motions and it shows. But with Joe he took a genuine interest in what we wanted to do not a prescripted tour. I would give Joe P and Customized tours a 9.9 out of 10. The only reason I wouldn't give them a perfect 10 is the website taking a payment was a bit of a mess. I wanted to pay for the tour all up front and it wouldn't let me, despite the fact that it said it would charge me the private tour price. Now to Joe and the tour. I don't think I could find someone with knowledge of Seattle and the quirkiness of this unique city that my wife and I have grown to love on our frequent visits. The people for the most part are friendly, cept the drivers in the rain they seem worse than Florida drivers but heh it's all relative. Joe took us to places of interest and was knowledgeable about the places we went by. We didn't get out as today was the rainiest of all days in Seattle so it was a bit of a dreary mess but we made the best of it. I recommend anyone in town for either a cruise or just visiting to take a private tour. It may be a bit more money but in my opinion is so much better than other shared tours. Joe as I understand it does some wine tours and Mt. Rainier tours as well. Whether it's those or a private city tour ask for Joe P for your tour..... Can't say enough good things about Customized Tours.. A+++++++ ETA: Don't become friends with Joe P on facebook. Seems he and his friends are entitled to their opinions on gun control and politics, but when someone posts something counter to what they view they will flat out attack you then ban you. It's good to know that in America only one person is entitled to their opinion. So let the whackos in Washington smoke their pot and complain about the rest of the country. This was an incredible adventure! I purchased two vouchers for a shuttled day of Winery tours & tastings, a stop at Snoqualmie Falls and a visit to a Swiss Chocolate Factory for my boyfriend & I's 3-year anniversary and it was perfect! It was an all day event that I had no inclination about how thorough and fun it would be. We were picked up around 9 AM at a park & ride in Tukwilla by the fabulous tour-guide John, aka "King-man". He had so much information to share and even though I have lived here for years, I learned so many new tid-bits about the city and surrounding areas, it was wonderful! This exceeded my expectations and we proceeded to pick up several other passengers and head to Woodinville where we were taken to several Wineries and tasting rooms. The first taste was at the Novelty Hill/Januik Winery where we were allotted 4 tastings of our choice off of a menu showing about 8 different wines. They were all lovely and we even got a free extra tasting of their desert wine which was oh so sweet. I left there with a bottle of the 2006 Novelty Hill Merlot. Yum! Next up, was the Columbia Winery where we were actually guided through the tasting techniques of their various wines, tasting about 5 total. This was very helpful to be told exactly how to examine the wine before consumption, as most of us really didn't know what we were doing and some instruction was what we were hoping for. Next was lunch at the Texas Smoke House and oh my goodness...their loaded baked potato was a meal in itself! Covered in all the regular toppings, plus a ton of pulled pork and bbq sauce made this a meal to remember! Then we proceeded to go to Snoqualmie Falls and due to the flooding in the surrounding areas, the falls were gushing more so than I have ever seen! We were drenched after being on the observation decks, it was quite the sight to see! After exploring the gift shop and picking up some souvenirs, we went to a Swiss Chocolate Factory where we were able to sample chocolates and get a window tour of their factory and learn about the history of this shop. Very inspiring and interesting, plus wonderful chocolate! All said and done with, we arrived back at our cars around 5 pm stuffed, sleepy and very pleased with a full day of sight seeing, tasting and experiencing some gems in the Pacific Northwest all thanks to John and SeattleTours.com! I took the Customized Tours Boeing Tour today. This is advertised as a 4 hour tour. Pickup at my hotel was at 7:30 AM we got to Boeing and our tour did not start until 9AM. The tour lasted until 10:30, then wait around forever and back in the van to return downtown by noon. To me, this adds up to 2.5 hours of driving and waiting and 1.5 hours of actually being on some sort of a tour For a $55 price tag, I would expect to be picked up in a motor coach however I was picked up in a 7-10 passenger cargo van. There was little air circulation and you were forced to get cozy with your van mates. All this company really did was offer a ride to and from downtown Seattle and the Boeing plant in Everett. Other than offer a ride in a cramped, stuffy van there was no value added that would in my mind justify a $40 per person premium (Boeing only charges $15 per person for the tour). We could have at least swung by the Renton plant and done a drive by or driven past Boeing's house or something. They tried to add some value by playing a home made audio tape explaining Boeing history on the way up to Everett. The problem was the production quality was poor. Every time the B sound in Boeing was made, is sounded like the speakers were going to bust. They could have at least adjusted their microphone sensitivity prior to making that awful monotone recording. If two people go on this trip the total would be $110 dollars for 4 hours- I won't say it but is rhymes with sip-off. For that price, you would be better off spending $60 dollars renting a car from downtown (tax included) for the day, and visiting Boeing on your own for $15 dollars a piece and your total would be $90 you could even use the car to go other places like drive up to B.C, shopping at the outlets, visit friends or relatives or whatever else you could think of doing that afternoon. THINK- If you are a group of 3- forget this tour entirely. For two people on this tour you are out $110 before lunch and have not even gotten a meal. A group of 3 would pay $165 for $45 worth of admission tickets. The driver was courteous- big deal though. Kind of like someone smiling at you while stabbing you in the back. If you want to throw your money away like this, at least do it with the big guys like Grey Line who charge less. read more
