We are really glad we took a tour instead of trying to figure out where to go on our own. Rob Bob was super cool and got us to try a scallop on the half shell (which I wouldve never tried anywhere else). My husband and I were visiting Seattle and thought this food tour would be a great way to explore Pike Place Market without being totally overwhelmed. It absolutely was. Our tour guide was Sylas, and he was fantastic. Very personable and knowledgeable. We had 9 different stops with some amazing food. We tried clam chowder, a chocolate chip cookie, a hot dog, candied salmon jerky...the list goes on. It was wonderful to visit these super busy restaurants without having to wait in line. Since we went to so many different places, we got to see a lot of the shops, which gave us an idea of where we wanted to visit afterwards. This was the perfect introduction to Pike Place Market. Our tour guide was Chef Rob Bob who grew up in the market (he was a "banana box baby" - ask him about it) and knows the market better than anyone. He gave us all the inside tips about where to eat, buy produce and cheese, and was particularly fun and fantastic with our skeptical teenagers. The food we got to taste was exceptional - everything from tacos to seafood chowder to pizza to a latte flavored with lavender and chocolate covered cherries. We learned as much about the history of the market as we did about the food. It's a calling for Chef Rob Bob, not just a job. The whole experience was fantastic and a bargain. The food was AMAZING,(even tho chef will probably tell you I thought differently) the portions were SO filling. I honestly can't wait to go on this tour again. Went to the Pike Place Market food tour, and our guide Stone was so knowledgeable. He shared his experiences working with a few renowned chefs in several cities. Luckily, our group was small, so we were able to get to know each other more and had a really fun time together. The meeting place was outside of Simply Seattle store, and the tour was started on time. We sampled 9 different places and enjoyed all the food. My favorite was the meat pie from the Land of Origin. This is our first visit to Seattle and this Chef Guided Tour was highly recommended by friends who live here - and now we know why! It was a great time from beginning to end. Our guide, Chef Noah, was really fun, very informative, and engaged our group the entire time. This was one of my all time favorite activities in all of my travels over the years! Our guide, Johnathan, was extremely friendly and personable. From the beginning, he asked all of our names and where we were from and continued to remember things about each of us through the whole time together - which was impressive! The tour moved at a perfect pace and it was amazing to skip the lines at every location. It was clear he had a good working relationship with all of the shops we stopped at. The shop owners seemed genuinely happy to have us! Now for the food - so many samples! It was at least a full meal worth of food. Also, he asked about food allergies and remembered those and had substitutions available at every stop! In total we stopped at 9 places and had about 16 samples. Our favorite was the cheese, the taco and the gelato! There was only one sample we didn't care for. Again, this was one of the best curated food experiences I have ever done and would do it again next time I came to town. read more

This was a pretty disappointing experience. I've done a food tour in every place I've visited. It's the perfect way to learn about a place while enjoying the food and drinks. This was the least enjoyable of the 15 I've done. It was also NOT worth the money. I was in Seattle for a teacher conference and the conference organizers put together private tours -- a food tour one day and a coffee tour the other. You can see the descriptions of the tours in my photos. (FYI...The photos are in a weird order for some reason.) No where does it say that the food portions will be small but my goodness were they all small. I've never experienced a tour in which I left hungry but on both of these I did. I also wish I had known that no water would be available on the tours. I was so thirsty the whole time. I'm used to sitting down and enjoying the food but that didn't happen here. I get that it's a different setting than a lot of places but we did sit down at Indi so we could have gotten some water there. An add-on for alcohol was offered on the food tour for $17. I opted not to get it and I'm so glad that I didn't! It was for one stop on the tour. I'm used to getting decent size drink samples at every stop so that would have disappointed me. But here's the kicker...I ended up ordering the same drink as people got with the add-on for the tour and mine was cheaper!! The coffee tour was INCREDIBLY disappointing. While our tour guide was knowledgeable about the city, the only time I was told anything about the coffee was at the first stop. And every coffee seemed to be the same. Absolutely nothing unique about them. No pour overs. Nothing iced. It should have been called a pastry tour and not a coffee tour. We had more pastries than we did coffee. I was also disappointed because I got two of the exact same food samples as I did on the food tour. It would be nice if pre-planned private tours that are scheduled by the same group get to experience unique offerings. A very frustrating thing about the coffee tour was that we stopped at an Ethiopian stand and the lady working had no idea we were supposed to be there so she didn't have anything prepared. So I essentially paid for something I didn't receive! Our tour ended 20 minutes before our scheduled end time. I paid more for the coffee tour yet received a lot less. I was so hungry and in need of caffeine when I was done that I ended up buying a latte from Ghost Alley Espresso and chowder from Pike Place Chowder. read more

I have to admit I was very disappointed in this tour. The guide spent approximately the first 20 minutes of the tour telling us his life history. The rest of the tour was just okay. There was one point where he brought us into one store for a "tasting" that turned out to be a cold tea in a container available to anyone in the store. Then left us to shop. I have taken other food tours so perhaps the bar was set higher by the other companies. Would recommend checking out the market place on your own. read more

We went on The Eat Seattle tour on a date day. It is an amazing and informative experience! We were guided to 8 places and got tastes from all of them. Our tour guide Scott was very informative, funny and was awesome at explaining The Pike Place market. It was awesome hearing about the history of the market and learning of the market community. Getting delicious bites from different restaurants and stores was an added bonus! Hearing from some of the different vendors was awesome also. Hearing their story of how they got to their spot in the market was fascinating! The tour takes right around 2 hours, and there is lots of walking, sometimes on uneven ground or cobblestone. Make sure you have proper footwear. It is absolutely a great experience, sorry there are not more pics, I was really engrossed in the story telling. read more

Visiting Seattle for a work conference, and my coworker and I decided to do a chef guided tour during our lunch break. Sylas was our tour guide. He was clearly very enthusiastic about food and I greatly enjoyed hearing about his career. He mentioned how the chefs pick their own favorite vendors/spots to take the group. I couldn't help but notice the great relationship Sylas seemed to have with the employees of the vendors we visited. His great appreciation for the Market, employees, and food in general was contagious! The food was delicious! Not all of the samples are pictured. I love stepping out of my comfort zone and trying some foods I'd never had before. The amount of food served was definitely equivalent to a meal and kept us full until dinner. I loved hearing about the history of the Market, some of the vendors, and Seattle as a whole. I greatly enjoyed listening to the vendors speak about their food. There is clearly a great passion they each have for their craft. I will be recommending the chef guided tour to anyone that is headed up to Seattle! read more
