This was such a good tour! I was visiting and we decided to try this tour out. Our tour guide was great. She did a great job explaining the history of Seattle in an entertaining way. There is a bit of walking and stairs and our group size was pretty large, I'd say about 30 people total. I would recommend this if you're wanting to learn more about Seattle.

Interest fact you'll learn about this purple glass when you take the tour.

Great tour over in Pioneer Square to learn some interesting history of Seattle from the 1800's. Our tour guide Adam did a great job keeping the tour interesting and fun. We did the tour the day after we did our own site seeing which ended up adding more cool facts to stuff we saw on our own on the city. I don't want to give away anything the tour tells you so I'll just say I 100% recommend anyone that's interest in history or cool facts should sign up for one of the tours.

I wanted to learn a bit more about the city of Seattle, and my other few friends did too. So we decided to take some time to book this tour while visiting the city. Did you know the old city lies below the current city? And they are sky lights from the underground still to this day? Truly this interactive walking tour is part old timey history, part city politics lesson, part ghost busters tour, part exercise sessions with all the walking. I appreciated our guide as she gave the nitty gritty of the folks that lived during this time. Including the "seamstresses" that were working during this time for men.. afterhours, IYKYK. The ghost story was a lil cray. And she cut the lights for a good 10 to 12 minutes (at least it felt like that), to set the mood for a spooky tale, which I was not expecting. Tickets are $20, maybe around 75 minute or less tour. Family friendly, there were a few kids in our session. I know some reviews say it depends on how good our maybe bad your tour guide is and the info/stories they decide to share, as to ones experience. That's probably true. But I feel like our tour guide, I forgot her name, was decent. We gave her a tip. There's also little gift shop after the tour.

My friend and I decided to do the Underground Tour and it was good. We did the first tour at 10 AM with a really funny tour guide. They walked you through some of the city underground and above ground while giving you the history. It's a neat tour. There was an incident where an unhoused person punched a guy on the tour. However, the tour guide and his boss ensured the person left. If you're in the city, do this 75 minute tour. You'll enjoy it.

We really like doing the haunted things and other possible paranormal tours. This one wasn't as much touted as haunted but there was always the possibility. We met and as a group we entered the underground thru a door in a back alley. Our guide gave us lots of info about how and why these were created. It was an amazing story along with the places they would Shanghai unwitting patrons tht would find themselves working on a boat some where. It was quite a massive area with many areas still being worked on. We didn't see any ghosts but had a good time.

Follow me on IG: @solo_inseattle Exploring Seattle's Underground History! I was invited to experience Bill Speidel's Underground Tour in Pioneer Square, an hour-long adventure beneath the streets of Seattle. The tour is strict on timing, so be sure to arrive early--don't expect flexibility or same-day tickets! Our guide kept the group entertained with puns while diving into the history of Seattle's founders, Yesler & Denny. However, the tour noticeably skimmed over the origins of the area and the Duwamish tribes, which felt like a missed opportunity to fully acknowledge the foundation of this land. It's definitely a unique way to learn about Seattle, but I'd love to see a more inclusive narrative included in the storytelling. Have you taken the tour? What are your thoughts? #SeattleHistory #PioneerSquare #SoloInSeattle #UndergroundTour #DuwamishLand #HonorNativeLand #IndigenousHistory #SupportDuwamish"

We took the Bill Spidels Underground Tour. It isn't quite what I thought it would be but, it was full of Seattle's history dating back to the 1850s. Kalyn was our tour guide, he had some funny jokes and alot of information on how the town was built. I thought that the majority of the tour would be winding underneath the city streets, however it is part here, then you go up to the streets, walk a bit and enter another underground enterance. Overall the tour was very informative, and full of history, just not quite how I anticipated it to be. Our tour guide was awesome and had alot of knowledge.

I've lived in Seattle my whole life and finally did the tour. This is a once and done . Was interesting but I left wanting more substance. I liked that our tour guide had a sense of humor, but was surprised with the type of humor. The guides do a great job, this is a lot of history to cover. Warning- Wear good walking shoes. You'll go up , down , navigate uneven ground. If you're claustrophobic, this might not be for you. Tight spaces, little air movement, dirty, webs... 60 min is plenty. - no bathrooms on the tour so go before you leave the check-in area.

It's interesting... be prepared for walking and steps and being in dark spaces. You aren't looking at much, it's more about the stories and history you're hearing. Nice to hear the history and understand this history behind Seattle. No mention of genocide or battles between populations. It's about poop, floods, pioneers, dumb ideas, and building this downtown area of Seattle and the waterfront. I thought it was cool but I wouldn't say it's a must do.

This is a must do if you love history. I tool my son for his birthday. He was skeptical at first and then told me as we were doing the tour he loved the tour. The guide did a fantastic job. He was qwirky and made it fun.

Amazing tour! Highly recommend if you are visiting Seattle/Pioneer Square. TJ was a hilarious and very knowledgeable tour guide. I learned so much about the history of Pioneer Square all in a fun and engaging way!

I love history and museums and had heard about the Seattle underground tours for years. When we were in Seattle this summer, my family and I took this tour. There are several tours but after checking out Yelp (of course) I decided on this one. So glad I did! It was amazing to be walking underneath the sidewalks of Seattle. I'd known about those little purple squares of glass and how they lit up the underground area, but to see the labyrinth of hallways and old streets was fascinating. The story I most enjoyed was how people used to park their carriages on the upper level and then climb down ladders to get to the lower levels. If you get a chance, take the tour. You'll never walk the streets near Pike Place without imagining what lies below.

The tour started much later in the evening so bring a coat! We got there a little early so we were able to browse the museum, which was fairly tiny but interesting. Our tour guide was Kim and she was a joy to be around. She really knows how to tell a story and keeps you involved in the tour. (Listening to evps, watching videos, asking questions) Our tour group was small but it made the whole experience feel much more personal. We walked all around Pioneer Square and visited haunted locations. My favorite stop was at the "Merchant Cafe". We actually entered and sat in their underground lounge. It was very spooky and took a few pictures to see if I could spot anything. The whole tour was made even spookier by the actual buildings around us. The mixture of older historical buildings and closed/abandoned buildings. Beware it is rundown and many homeless people but they keep to themselves. And I also felt something push my back during one of the stops. The guide was telling us about a specific spirit that was known for being "grabby" with women. Haha yikes. 4th ghost tour I've been on and excited to do more. Surprisingly I'm still a skeptic!

I texted our guide, who arrived late. Poor guy was a retail worker who did this gig on weekends for extra cash. The "tour" turned into a two+ hour STANDING in the rain. He showed us some photos and played an audio recording on his phone of some sounds that were supposed to be a ghost? We left early, it was disappointing, cold, wet, and generally unpleasant. Add to this experience the homeless high on fentanyl in downtown Seattle at night - don't do it

REVIEW OF OUR SEATTLE LOCKS, GASWORKS PARK & HOUSEBOATS TOUR--ONE OF THE SEATTLE UNDER THE RADAR…read moreTOURS My wife and I visited Seattle for the first time in April 2022. As part of our visit, we booked a tour titled "The Locks, Gasworks Park and Houseboats Tour." The tour is one of "The Seattle Under the Radar Tours" and was billed as a chance to see Seattle "through the eyes of a local." For us, that "local" was Tour Guide Lynn Curtis, who (if I remember correctly) said she had lived in Seattle for 11 years. Our tour with Lynn took place on the afternoon of Friday, April 22nd. It was a beautiful, sunny day and perfect for a tour of Seattle. Twenty-four hours before the tour, Lynn emailed us to confirm we knew where to meet, what to expect on the day of the tour and to answer any pre-tour questions. That was much appreciated and helped assure us we we're working with a professional. The tour rendezvous point was in front of a bakery within walking distance from the Seattle waterfront and marketplace district where we parked our car. Lynn arrived a little early and after introducing herself, invited us to accompany her into the bakery for a complimentary pastry and beverage. Afterwards, Lynn directed us to her personal vehicle--a spacious and clean SUV parked just outside the bakery. To our pleasant surprise, we learned we were her only guests for this tour. Our more than three-hour private tour began with a drive to the Seattle Ballard Locks to see and learn how the locks work to permit the movement of small and large boats. The locks are located at the west end of Salmon Bay, in Seattle Washington's Lake Washington Ship Canal, between the neighborhoods of Ballard to the north and Magnolia to the south. On the drive to the locks, Lynn pointed out various points of interest and once there, shared her wealth of knowledge about the locks. A highlight of this stop was seeing the salmon swimming up the salmon ladders and watching the boats enter and leave the locks. Next, it was on to "Gas Works Park." The park sits on the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant. What makes the park so appealing and a must see for tourists like us, is its location: the north shore of Lake Union at the south end of Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood. It offers breathtaking views of Lake Union and the Seattle skyline. A highlight of this part of the tour, was getting there. On the drive over, Lynn once again shared interesting facts and stories about the neighborhoods we passed through, as only a local could do. Another highlight of the tour was a surprise stop at Ivar's Salmon House restaurant. The restaurant specializes in American and Seafood cuisine and is located on the north shore of Lake Union. Lynn said she personally recommends it to her tour guests who love American and Seafood cuisine, but we learned the food is not the only reason it's a tour stop: its stunning Northwest native art, décor and historical photographs, including a full cedar replica of a Northwest Native American longhouse, are the other reasons. We were so impressed with Ivar's, that we came back that evening for dinner. With the exception of a challenge finding nearby parking, it was a wonderful experience. Our final destination was a visit to a secluded Seattle neighborhood where many residents live in beautiful multilevel houseboats--some valued in excess of $1 million--with their own private docks. This neighborhood is not on your typical Seattle tourist's itinerary and would be difficult to find and traverse without a local like Lynn. If you're looking for a Seattle tour that's well worth your money, this is it. We highly recommend it and highly recommend Lynn. She was great. Thank you Lynn! My back is always an issue so a long walking tour was out of the question but Lynn took us through beautiful historical districts, Capitol Hill, the site of the riots, Volunteer Park, a local gayberhood and a terrific shop called Retail Therapy and it was. We felt like Lynn could have been a long lost cousin who wanted to share her love for her city with us. We will be back to catch the rest of the Seattle story. Thank you Lynn a hundred times over.
