"Expectations- it's about comparison" Now we have never been on a food tour before but some of our friends had been on one to Pikes Market but the tour our friends took turns out was not the one they thought they had tried last year and recommended to us. An honest mistake but was this a foretelling of what was to come? This walking food tour focused on Pike's Market and pretty much stayed in the area between Union all the way to Lenora St.. As you stroll through this historic waterfront area, our guide Jerry gave us many nuggets of trivia and information regarding the area both past and present. A highpoint of this tour (and the many competing tours in Seattle) is the food sampling from various shops in the market. From asian teas to samosas, from crumpets to chowder, from smoked salmon to pickle juice, from salmon burgers to gelato and more- this tour does give you a chance to sample the many edible delights of Pike's Market, and many are special samples you can only get on the tour. This tour offering was especially long, about 2.5 hours long. I understand most tours run about 1.5 hours long. I can't really say how this tour compares with others being offered but I would compare the samples being offered ( they can differ) and go with the one that has the goodies you'd like to try. We enjoyed this tour, our guide Jerry was a friendly, affable type of guy that made our "intimate" group of four enjoy our experience. The kicker for us was that we were able to use a group-on coupon so we only paid $29 per person instead of the usual $44. Because this is probably one of those kind of tours you would only go to once, I suggest you read the reviews (on Yelp of course) of the various companies, see if there are any discount coupons to be had, and make your choice. Then she went on saying "I apologize in advance but I will be checking my phone throughout the tour because I really want to know about the score." I have nothing against it, but I thought I paid to come learn more about local food culture in Seattle, not football. Then she went on and on about the Seahawks for 3 - 5 minutes. She stopped talking about football until our salad was served. That was not how I imagined to start the FOOD tour. Her voice was really quiet so it was extremely difficult to hear her during the entire tour. I realized that at Local 360 when I was just two seats from her and I couldn't hear most of what she had to say. I had to ask her to repeat things. This is a good tour if you want to impress your first date with the "expensive" price tag. I say "expensive" because $59 is pretty pricey for Seattle, not so much for LA or NYC. I went on a food tour during a trip to NYC and thought it'd be fun to go on one when I got back, so my friend and I booked the Belltown Food Tour. We had a great time! Leslie (I think), our tour guide, was friendly, informative, and a fun person to learn from and talk to. Not only did she describe the restaurants we visited, but also made recommendations on items to try the next time we came back, as well as recommendations for other restaurants in the area. Throughout the tour, we got little snippets of Belltown history (don't worry, no spoilers here); and it was really fun to look at the neighborhood through a "tourist's" eyes. We had a group of about 10 people and we were able to meet everyone and get a chance to know each other. Our tour consisted of stops at: Local 360 (our meeting place; you can actually meet your group inside the restaurant) -- beet salad and oysters Rob Roy -- Tom Collins cocktail Shiro's -- two pieces of tuna nigiri Branzino -- clams Black Bottle -- ricotta cheesecake and chocolate mousse We were told that menu items change seasonally, so you can probably get something different during each booking. I can honestly say that I'm excited to go back and try each of these restaurants on my own, now that I'm a bit more familiar with them. And I'd love to book another one of the tours they offer. ***The ONLY reason I didn't give this place/tour 5 stars, was solely because of the customer service I dealt with while booking the tour. We got a Groupon deal and originally booked for some time in January. The message started off by saying, "I see you booked with a Groupon..." They were informing me that no one else had booked that day/time and they couldn't accommodate a tour with just two people, so they wanted to cancel the tour. First of all, purchasing a tour through Groupon should not alter the level of service. I don't even know why the method of payment had to be mentioned. I'm not sure whether the message was just worded poorly or whether they actually meant that less money paid = less service, but I found that to be rude. I love taking food tours when I travel and this was one of my favourites! I have tj apologize in advance though... We took the tour in early August and I am just now reviewing and do not remember the amazing tour guides name. She was fantastic though! It was like being shown around by a friend rather than a tour guide! We did the Tastes of Pike's Place tour. It started with an easy location to meet and fresh baked mini doughnuts. She began by giving us some history about Pike's Place and about the spots we were going to. We had only looked around the market for a little while before and I had absolutely no idea how big it was! I was so impressed by the restaurants and shops we visited. Especially since they all were local, natural and/or family owned. The day was warm but we were provided with water bottles and shade when needed. Our group was small which was nice, about 10 people and the price of the tour was great considering how much information we learned and the food we ate. My favourite stop was the truffle shop where we sampled many different kinds of oils and salts. My fiancé loved the gelato. Our lovely guide even recommended a restaurant for us to celebrate our recent engagement at that night - Branzinos in Belltown. Leslie was a great tour guide. Not only did she take the effort to learn everyone's name, but also was entertaining. Her tone is loud enough for everyone to hear and she tells stories that are informative. Several of the local people on the tour said that they learned new facts about Pike Place. Another great part of the tour was the food. For the price you pay, you get solid portions of food. It's not like you are getting crumbs or stale food, you are getting a quarter of a salmon sandwich, a nice portion of clam chowder and other delicious items. After the tour I even visited the Greek yogurt spot from tour which made for a delicious breakfast the next morning. I would recommend this tour to history buffs and foodies. ~*~*~*~ Happy 300th Review to Meeeeeeee ~*~*~*~ Review for Pike Place tour: We were extremely lucky with just about everything that happened with this tour. :) First, we were late (boo tardiness!), but since we were the only ones in the tour (yay personalized attention!), our guide Penny waited for us at the first location. If we weren't the only ones in the tour, I would have called the central number to find out where they were to catch up. The tour was about 2hrs, and I'm so glad it was just the three of us. The conversations with Penny were more organic and free-flowing, not to mention it's easier to move through the market with a smaller group. Penny was great! She's a real history buff and everyone in the Market knows her too. It was nice seeing this glimpse of Market social life you wouldn't have otherwise. During the tour, we sampled a ton of stuff and had a few discounts since we were with her. :) She was extremely well-prepared (had plenty of napkins, pre-bought samples, pre-ordered things that she picked up when we arrived to the location) and fun to hang out with. If you're working on the "Seattle 100 Foodie Challenge" this tour will knock out several items! The samples were plenty and varied (smoked salmon, clam chowder, gelato, pastries, dried/fresh fruit, crumpet, tea, creamy cheese, salty-cured meats, truffle stuff!!) however with the walking I think I felt just right at the end of the tour. I wouldn't start this tour starving and/or expect to get stuffed during it; you're here to learn about the history, hear some quick tips, and sample stuff that you wouldn't otherwise. Service-wise on the phone end was great too. It took a few calls to set up this tour, but either I left one voicemail that was returned promptly, or I called and was able to speak with the owner right away. The other awesome thing about this tour is the visit to the Gum Wall. I have never been here before. Overall, even if you've been living in the city (10yrs+) you will learn something new and appreciate what the Market has to offer! I've taken several food tours in Seattle, but this was my first time with Seattle Food Tours. This tour started out a bit rough. My friends gave me dirty looks, like wtf did you get us into?! haha. Our guide was very friendly but extremely chatty and, at first, it was information overload with little food. It began like a senior citizen field trip, but fortunately got much better as it progressed. Having taken other tours, the Seattle Food Tour seemed like the 'alternative' food tour. They showcased lesser known spots and focused a lot on the history of the Pike Place Market. It was informative and we enjoyed several of the stops, particularly DeLaurenti's Italian International Food Market (mouthwatering salami infused with rosemary and spices), the Pure Food Fish Market (best smoked salmon I've ever had), and the truffle café La Buona Tavola (they let me hold a jar full of black truffles! holy sh*t!). If it's your first time, then I think the Savor Seattle Pike's Place Tour provides a much better experience. However, we had a really good time on the Seattle Food Tour. Both tours cost the same ($40 p/person), however Savor Seattle's tour includes a discount card redeemable at dozens of places for 2 weeks, which ultimately pays for the tour itself. read more

Our tour guide Penny was stock full of energy and charisma. She was a local so she knew all the vendors personally, making it a fantastic experience. We ended up being a small group after some rushed and impromptu planning in Seattle. You'll start your tour at the corner of the pike place market in a tea shop. If your guide is Penny, be prepared to eat a lot of teasers, as she gleefully introduces you to at least 8 locations. They include: ..Vital Tea Leaf ..De Laurenti's Specialty Food & Wine ..Bottega Italiana ..The Crumpet Shop ..Simply the best dried fruit ..Daily Dozen Donuts ..Pike Place Chowder ..La Buona Tavola ..Pure Food Fish Market. ..Kells Irish Restaurant Out of all those places, I enjoyed the fresh honey & butter crumpets, the clam chowder and the truffle shop the most. Trust me, the crumpets are unlike anything you've ever tasted before. You would think they're similar to scones since they don't use dairy, but they seemed like a distant cousin to thomas' English muffins. The Crumpet Shop is the only company to make fresh crumpets on a daily basis. My second favorite item, the clam chowder, was savory and perfect for cream lovers. Apparently they've been winning contests left and right. (no surprise, it was unnaturally good) Additionally, the truffle shop was an extremely unique experience. The inside is lined with Spanish and Italian wines, truffles any way you can imagine (cream, butter,salt etc), fancy balsamics, oils and spreads. Don't worry, you can sample everything in the store to your heart's content. The shops were so smashing, we revisited half of them! Penny's discounts didn't hurt either, hint hint. You get 10 percent off items in each of her favorite spots. I admit, we walked out of the truffle shop with exquisite and loftily priced balsamic and oil -- possibly influenced by the $5 wine tasting inside. Along with showing us some of the best eats in pike place, we were introduced to an enlightening amount of local culture and history of the market. While pointing out the high ceilings and wide openings, inside a building Penny explained that some of the older buildings were once stables. Within one of these said stables, one wall in particular was lined with photos reminiscent of the struggles and tribulations of the market in earlier times. Interesting. Another piece of local culture that was stumbled on was the The gum wall. Ergh, I'll leave that one your imagination. This was a terrible disappointment! There were so many things I have to complain about with this tour, but first, I would like to start by the blatant lie about being vegetarian friendly. It's veg-friendly only in the "if you didn't want to eat anything on this food tour, you'll have a great time" sort of way. The organizers blatantly lie about it. We went to a sushi place with eel and salmon as the options. And, the other places had lesser quality options than the carnivores were given. I used a Groupon for my tour, but had to pay full price for my date's. In the end, neither of us got a value. The tour consists of a $5 walking tour of one of Seattle's most interesting neighborhoods with a couple stops along the way for a bite of food. Literally, we are talking bites. In total, not more than 8 bites for the entire tour combined with a couple tastes of wine. Those were very small pours! I know the tour is not supposed to be a progressive dinner, but for the cost, it could be a lot better. You would get much more value and have a better time saving your $100 (for two), and making your own walking tour of the neighborhood spots. Just do some quick research online before you go, and you will have a much better time. The only thing of real value was the history of Belltown that our wonderful tour guide shared. It is also very annoying that the tour takes longer than the nearby parking meters allow for street parking. So, you will either have to run back to your car mid-tour or pay a fortune to park in a garage or lot. If you do it, take the bus or bike. Be prepared to buy your own drinks along the way, and to have a full dinner afterwards. read more

We booked with a Groupon and didn't have any problems. I enjoyed the tour but felt like we moved too slowly. Also the food part were nibbles and sometimes us vegetarians were getting the short end of the stick. If we didn't eat fish we would have been SOL. The Pike Place Chowder was amazing. Our guide was a little condescending to the wait staff at a couple places and he was teaching another tour guide at the same time but 1. she wasn't confident and 2. he almost always just took over when she was trying to tell us some history. read more

I have now done the Pike Place tour through both Savor Seattle and Seattle Food Tours. The pros for this one (Seattle Food Tours) is that I thought we got a lot more food. We got a quarter of a salmon burger, a mini taco, half a crumpet, cheese and crackers, a doughnut, gelato (whatever flavor you want), truffle oil tasting, and half a bowl of Pike's Place Chowder (I might be missing one or two others but I'm not sure). I also liked that the group was pretty small (maybe about 12ish people and she said that was a large group for them). She was very personable and took us to places I might not have seen otherwise. I'd say the other tour had more humor, but felt I still learned a lot from this tour. I am now a huge believer that the BEST way to see Pike's Place is on a food tour. Side note: Don't let the five star reviews for Savor Seattle sway you to do their tour instead (both are great and equally good in my opinion for different reasons). They are adamant at the end of their tours not to write a review unless it is 5 stars. I really liked that Seattle Food Tours did NOT pressure me into a 5 star review. read more

This is not what you expect. At least not what my wife or I expected. What it is, is a tour of Belltown, with a few stops in some restaurants, a few bites of food at each, and some history of the restaurants and area. What it's not is restaurant-centric: about anything specifically going on in the restaurant, interacting in any meaningful way with the chefs or cooks, any kind of foodie thing. We thought we'd be in the kitchens watching food being prepared, listening to the chefs describing it, and sampling it. However, it's more like the underground tour in character, which is about history, which isn't bad. Just not what we were wanting or expecting. read more

We had a great time on the Belltown tour! I've done several food tours in Seattle now, and this was probably my favorite. I felt like we got great portions, interesting history tidbits, and just had a fun time overall. Our group was small, only 8 people, and I think that really made it much more intimate and fun. We didn't have to wear headsets (I hate the headsets), but could still hear everything perfectly. It was great to visit a part of Seattle we rarely go to. The food was amazing! Not a bad thing to be had; we will definitely be visiting all the restaurants again. If you get a chance, this is an excellent way to explore Seattle (or a new neighborhood). I booked the Belltown tour for a private work outing. The establishments themselves were great choices, but I won't talk too much about them. However, it was quite amusing to walk right pass the line building in front of Shiro's and get seated like VIP's. I almost felt bad when people started following us in and the staff had to kick them out. When you're on a food tour one of the most important things is the guide, right? Anyone can go on Yelp and make a list of "top" restaurants to visit, but that's not why you hire a guide. Well we were lucky enough to get Michael, the founder. Michael really knows his stuff. It seemed like every 5 minutes he was giving us a neighborhood history lesson, sharing some cool factoid, or letting us in on some local gossip. Full disclosure - I was on the tour with Mary B *wave* and echo her comments about Leslie, our fabulously fun, spunky, and knowledgeable guide. Our stops included Local 360 (the meetup point where we sampled amazing oysters with mignonette), Rob Roy (indulging in a gunpowder-laden cocktail), Shiro's Sushi (ahem, apprentice to Jiro, like the "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" Jiro), Branzino (where we witnessed successful marriage of comfort Italian food and the clean edge of modern ambiance), and finally Spur Gastropub (for a beauty-meets-flavor-explosion dessert plate). First thing's first, thank you Groupon for such an amazing deal! My husband and I opted for the Belltown Restaurant tour since we'd already been around Pike's Market on our last trip. The Belltown tour will run you $49/person. Believe me, it's worth it! It's a 2.5 hour walking tour (so bring comfy shoes & perhaps an umbrella!) that covers not only food but little fun historical facts about the neighborhood. This is truly a tasting tour, you get a sample of this and a taste of that so don't expect it to replace a meal. Don't get me wrong, the tour left me wanting more...in a good way! Michael, the guide/owner, was extremely knowledgeable about the food, restaurants, and neighborhood itself. Seemed like a really cool guy (previously a chef, currently a DJ, all around guy you should meet). My husband and I got stuck in traffic so we caught up to the group two restaurants into the tour, but it was easy to do so since Micheael had provided us with his cell phone number. I always thought I was ready to walk the extra mile for the perfect lunch. This weekend I had a chance to do precisely that. Good friends of ours invited us to join them on a food tour of the famous Pike Place Market. We didn't need much time to think. We already knew that the company would be great, and what can be wrong with lunch with good friends? Naturally, when it comes to Seattle one must take the weather into account, and needless to say, the long term weather forecast is as good as a crystal ball. All you can do is hope. Well, hope worked and Saturday May 2nd was a picture perfect day, temperatures in the high 60s, not a single cloud in the sky. We put all five kids together in one place, with a very responsible teenager to watch them, and we headed to Seattle. We met the group, and the great guide Leslie Law, at the Vital Tea Leaf, a traditional Chinese tea shop with free tea tastings, and explanations. Leslie started to tell us all things we never knew. She kept doing that throughout the tour, in the wonderful way only an actress could. Right above the small brewery, Leslie handed us small doughnuts from the Daily Dozen, a one-of-a-kind doughnut shop. Fresh, flavorful. We then had small cups of Gelato, I never had pear ice cream. I myself took the lemon flavor. I swear to God, it was alive. It woke up in my mouth and bit my tongue - delicious. Then we went to the dried stuff shop. Apples, pears, pineapples, blueberries, raisins, that's all common (and delicious). But try beets, and even better - okra. I would never eat okra, but as it turns out, with the slimy goo gone, it was actually quite good... We had the best taco ever at the Mexican restaurant, the most interesting pickles, and the first taste of raw truffles. We had the world champion of clam chowder - yes everyone, the world's best clam chowder is Seattleite, it's not Bostonian, not Rhode Islander. And of course we had a bite of Chef Tom Douglas, not literally of course, but that salmon burger had the simplicity of raw fish along with the sophistication of Seattle. It was delicious indeed. As I said, we walked the extra mile for the perfect lunch. It had all the ingredients necessary: a beautiful day, great company, and outstanding tour guide (thank Leslie Law), and some excellent, exquisite, flavorful food. This is for the Belltown Food Tours. Over the course of about 3 hours, you, a guide, and other foodies go on a short-distance walking and food sampling tour of 5 Belltown places: Local 360, Rob Roy's, Shiro's, Bronzino's, and Spur. At these locations you'll (probably) taste a salad, a cocktail, two pieces of sushi, pasta with wine, and ice cream - conceivably the samplers may change. The guide explains a bit what the food is, some history behind the restaurant and area, etc. PROS: This is a package deal type of thing - you come here because you've never been to any one of these places, and you don't know which single restaurant to go to in Belltown (though I've heard of this thing called Yelp, which can help you decide). The Food Tours throw you in to 5 new places, and sometimes it's better just to try new things planned by others than take forever to decide where to go. CONS: This is the so pricey, mang. There used to be deals for around $30/person, but expect around $60/head without. I just don't think the amount of food, knowledge, entertainment, or lofty feelings of classiness I expected ever really manifested. Expect to really SAMPLE - you may barely get full, if lucky. Also, don't expect much from Rob Roy's...awful. The other places are fine, though the ice cream I got from Spur's tasted like something from Professor Utonium. The guide was nice enough, but there were several key problems with the tour she gave: 1) she didn't speak loud enough - if you want to hear her, you have to sit right next to her. 2) she frequently had us stand around outside restaurants to talk to us about the places - it's winter and people are freezing. 3) I felt like I should be hearing much more about the ingredients and the uniqueness of the dishes, etc....not enough of the talk was about the food. I swear the guide talked more about the Seahawks/Packers game she desperately wanted to be at. Is it too long at 3 hours (2hr 45min)? No. This is a quaint date type of setting, if you are fine with dishing out the cash - you'll have a lot of time to chat with your date, as the guide won't say a whole lot. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Belltown tour. It was five stops with a good mix of history and culture thrown in along the way. Each stop was a taster of the chef's choice ranging from appetizers (oysters at 360 Local) to cocktails (at Rob Roy) to a light entree (Ragu at Branzino) to dessert (Spur Gastropub). The guide is knowledgeable about the food and the Seattle restaurant scene and intersperses great bits of Seattle background along the way. The selection of restaurants is great and it's obvious the staff at each appreciate the opportunity to show off their place to the tour guests. More often than not, the owner stops by the table and tells you about the restaurant, that night's menu, etc. There are options along the way to purchase additional wine or other beverages specially paired with the chef's selection, but they are all reasonably priced ($5 or so) and easy to obtain if desired. It's true that each stop is a small serving, but it's plenty of food, especially when stretched over a few hours time. All in all, this tour will give you the opportunity to sample eating at some great places with some food you may not otherwise taste -- all while soaking in some Seattle history and culture. If you like any of the restaurants and want to return, they all offer a discount to patrons coming back from the tour. read more

This tour was pretty good. They accommodated me at the last minute, literally an hr before the tour at pike place. They started us off with the dozen donut place. No we weren't waiting in line forever per the usual, but the guide brought it to us at our meeting place at vital tea leaf. We meandered to pike place brewery to hear all of the juicy tidbits about the place. Then we walked through the market. Stopping at Delaurenti foods for a salumi salami and cheese tasting. Stopped by the Can Can to hear more juicy tidbits. Passed by the speakeasy place ( Shute I've been there but I forgot the name) something alibi and I didn't know it was previously owned by Tom skerritt and had scripts ones pleasure reading. This lead to the gum wall. Finally was able to taste crumpets. This was probably my favorite part of the tour. It's the only crumpet place in the country. And it was delicious!!! I wanted more. We also passed eateries with stories such as Matt's in the market, the Filipino food, 3 sisters European bakery, the fish place that throws fish, legendary 1st Starbucks, and of course how pikes place market came to be. We tasted food from pike place chowder, had wonderful samples at buono tavola, and smoked salmon from one of the other fish places. The final kicker was having a sample of the pork spareribs on collard greens with a Pinot noir taste at Seatown, a restaurant owned by the iron chef winner Tom Douglas. The food was none other than excellent. The ending was surprising and terrific. Loved my tour guide who was full of information. Loved the tour so much that I want to book the bell town restaurant tour as well. The tour was longer than I would have liked at 2.5 hrs, but they did provide bottled water. The Belltown tour was great! I learned a lot about the neighborhood and found many restaurants that I will be visiting again. I visit Seattle often, but learned so much on this tour I wish I had done it sooner. We had a large group, around 10 people, but all were friendly, our guide kept us on task as needed. Some of them continued to hang out after the tour! The restaurants were prepared for us, very happy to share and accommodating. We were given nice samples at every stop, met owners or managers, plus learned the history of the restaurant. Our guide, Heather, was funny and very knowledgeable about Seattle's history, and the history of many of the cool old buildings of Belltown. We took the Belltown food tour at the end of our first day in Seattle, which was the perfect way to learn about Seattle while tasting great food. Leslie, our guide was knowledgeable about food, the area, and history. This is the best food tour we have taken. Why? Great time slot, seated at every venue, short walking distance between stops, lots of time and option to "add on" at each stop, wide variety of dishes, and excellent and unique dish at each stop. The Taste Pike Place Food Tour was the highlight of our trip for sure. Jerry was an amazing guide and went above and beyond to share the history of the market, give us the best experiences possible, and accommodate our gluten free restrictions. The tour was about 3 hours long and started at one end of the market, wound through it, and finished on the other end. We ate almost to the point of exploding - but the food was so amazing and such high quality. We had biscuits, gelato, samosas, tea, yogurt, smoked salmon, tacos al pastor, truffle oil samples, bavarian sausages, pickles, salad, salmon burgers, and I'm sure I even forgot something. The Belltown food tour was great. I'm a local (born and raised) and I tried a bunch of restaurants that I'd never been to before. There were tasty bites at every stop, I was certainly full by the end but we did do a few add ons. I had to drive home so I was happy that we'd only had two drinks. A great way to eat food you wouldn't normally try yourself, meet new people and sample a few new restaurants. It's comparable to a night out at a nice restaurant. I've lived in Seattle for over 15 years and I'm a regular visitor to the market. We had some first time visitors to the city and we booked this tour, my only regret is not doing this sooner! Jerry was a fantastic tour guide, loaded with knowledge of the market and very entertaining. The tour covered the history, architecture, personalities and of course the food. It was very fluid, we meandered about and didn't follow a rigid structure. We had plenty of time to interact with the businesses we wanted to get more in depth info from. I was impressed with his knowledge of not only the origins of the market (Onion Riots) but current history of businesses that are in operation or sadly closed. 10/10, I will be doing this tour again. read more

Over Labor Day weekend my wife and I booked the Taste of Pike's place food tour. Jerry was a phenomenal tour guide and even made a few improv adjustments to the tour due to the interests of our group. After seeing other food tours, complete with announcers with a headset and small speaker to accommodate hearing the size of the group, I couldn't have been more impressed with our tour, which was comprised of six people total! We tried at least 10 different foods and were completely stuffed by the end of the tour while learning some great history about the market vendors and the city! My wife and I will be purchasing more tickets to give to our family in the Seattle area for Christmas presents. I'm sure all of the tour guides are great but we are going to tell them to book specifically with Jerry! Side Note: A few people in our tour group had dairy and vegitarian dietary restrictions and Jerry was easily able to ensure that they were accomodated as well. A++, would go again! =) read more

We went on the Belltown restaurant tour - we were part of an approx. 10 person tour group. We had a great time! It was a lovely sunny day and like the other tours we went to five places: local 360 (salad), rob roy (cocktail), shiro's (sushi appetizer), branzino's (entree), the coterie room (dessert). At each stop the guide told us about other restaurants in the area and said things like "this is a good place for chilling out before a show..." "this is a good place for a late night meal..." this was all very helpful! My friends and I enjoyed the history bits too. They were stories I had heard before but with details I didn't know... like the names of the streets (Virginia, Olive, Stewart) being relatives of Bell. Our tour guide was very friendly and was very willing to answer questions and talk about food. She seemed to be pretty knowledgeable of all the places around Belltown and a real foodie. Based on her choices and recommendations, I was pretty keen on taking her advice for branching out and trying some new places. We got an Amazon Local coupon which made it very affordable. We would definitely recommend the tour to anyone looking for a fun dining experience. Overall we enjoyed the experience and want to do the other tours too (such as the Pike Place Market one). read more

My cousin and I treated each other for our birthdays to the Belltown Food Tour. I won't go into the food in too much detail because it has been covered pretty excellently by others (positively and negatively). Local 360. I have been hearing about it forever and, as a contrarian, that made me want to go even less. From the short glimpse of the menu I got, what I saw was outstanding! I relent. I will be blowing some cash there in the near future. That being said, considering how many remarkable and reasonably priced dishes are on the menu at L-360 (as it's referred to on "the streets"), the spring & beet salad (although outrageously fresh) was kind of disappointing. It seems like we could have gone for something a little more hearty. It is an excellent starter for a meal, but a lowly way to start an almost 3 hour tour. Shiro's. You are a clown if you love sushi and have never been to Shiro's. 'Nuff said. (Rent "Jiro Dreams of Sushi". Preferably not at night. It will make you crave a good meal something FIERCE!) Branzino. I'm not a pasta person and my two visits to Branzino have been so-so. But again, that's not fair since I am not a pasta person. What we had was fairly pedestrian. Good, but not rich and flavorful. But I understand that you have to appeal to the majority and can't go with something bold. I WILL be going back to get the actual branzino however. It's not fair to judge a place without trying it's signature dish. It sounds amazing! Coterie Room for dessert. I hadn't been here but I loved Resaurant Zoe. I'm more of a chocolate person but MAN OH MAN, the candied chiles over frozen cream was a delight! Guide. Leslie was wonderful. Very ebullient and knowledgeable. Being a long-time Seattle resident (25 years) I'm used to knowing it all but Leslie shed light on aspects of Seattle I had no idea about. Lots of fun. Learned FAR more than I expected to when I first booked the tour. It (and she) was definitely my favorite aspect. Overall. This tour was fantastic for all of the out-of towners in our group. It got them a glimpse of Seattle's food culture and got them a tasting of places to check out while they are in town. Definitely great for people who want to experience a broad range. I'm definitely doing one next time I travel for business. I've never even considered it before. Also, with so much good food in Seattle I ALWAYS forget about Belltown. The tour reminded me how much great food and atmosphere there is in an area I'm usually snobby about. My only criticism is the price. I am an extremely light eater. I'm no stranger to checking my left-overs at the coat-check in clubs. No joke. And even I think the dishes could have been a little heartier. The Pike Place Tour is 1/3 less and I think I'd like to give it a try. Seems like a fair price range and doesn't place expectation levels exceedingly high. Also, I REALLY enjoyed the informative aspect of the tour. Despite my criticisms, the caveat is that the tour offers a special arrangement for tour participants that I am VERY happy about and will be taking advantage of as well as telling others about. Great time last evening with Leslie, our tour guide. Absolutely enjoyed the restaurants, the food and the company of the other diners. We are visiting Seattle and it was the perfect way to experience some of the awesome local restaurants the city has to offer. Throw in the great history lessons from Leslie made for a complete evening. My only recommendation would be for someone from the restaurants to share with us their thoughts on the food/ drink we were experiencing- for example, the bartender at Rob Roy's made a spectacular cocktail but it would have been even better if he shared with the group (we were the only ones there at the time) what he was making and how he pulled it all together. A picky item but the difference between 4 stars and 5. We will be sure to sample your other tours in the future! read more

My mom and I, visiting from CA and NV for the holiday weekend, were excited for the Pike's Place food tour. We booked it weeks in advance, called the day before and we're told we'd be meeting with Leslie at 10 am on 2/18. First, our Get Your Guide conformation paper said to meet at Vital Tea Leaf at 1401 N 1st Avenue. We looked up that address on Google Maps and it was about 2 miles away from Pikes Place. So we called the Seattle Food Tour number and spoke with a gentleman who said, "Oh that place moved and isn't there anymore. We know about the misprint. Just go to 1st and Union and Leslie will meet you at 10 am under the canopy on the north corner". We were glad we called and didn't show up in an Uber to the wrong place. Then, we arrived at 1st and Union at 9:50 and waited until about 10:15 before calling to see what happened. No Leslie; no one else who seemed to be waiting for a food tour. The Get Your Guide customer service rep apologized and asked us to hold while he called Seattle Food Tours. When he came back on, he explained that the tour operator said, "Dont worry, just tell them to wait. She'll be there soon." We waited another 15 min but no one arrived or called. We called back Get Your Guide and they again apologized and asked if we wanted refund. I said yes we would. He said we'd likely be eligible for a refund because our guide didn't show up and he'd initiate the refund process. Frustrating? Yes! Disappointing? Yes! But we had a great time at Pikes Place even without the tour. read more
