Belltown food tour: Local 360 - beet salad with hazelnut and flora cheese
Rona L.

I went on a food tour during a trip to NYC and thought it'd be fun to go on one when I got back, so my friend and I booked the Belltown Food Tour. We had a great time! Leslie (I think), our tour guide, was friendly, informative, and a fun person to learn from and talk to. Not only did she describe the restaurants we visited, but also made recommendations on items to try the next time we came back, as well as recommendations for other restaurants in the area. Throughout the tour, we got little snippets of Belltown history (don't worry, no spoilers here); and it was really fun to look at the neighborhood through a "tourist's" eyes. We had a group of about 10 people and we were able to meet everyone and get a chance to know each other. Our tour consisted of stops at: Local 360 (our meeting place; you can actually meet your group inside the restaurant) -- beet salad and oysters Rob Roy -- Tom Collins cocktail Shiro's -- two pieces of tuna nigiri Branzino -- clams Black Bottle -- ricotta cheesecake and chocolate mousse We were told that menu items change seasonally, so you can probably get something different during each booking. I can honestly say that I'm excited to go back and try each of these restaurants on my own, now that I'm a bit more familiar with them. And I'd love to book another one of the tours they offer. ***The ONLY reason I didn't give this place/tour 5 stars, was solely because of the customer service I dealt with while booking the tour. We got a Groupon deal and originally booked for some time in January. I received a message while at work a couple of hours before the tour (which I didn't have a chance to listen to until I got to the meeting place). The message started off by saying, "I see you booked with a Groupon..." They were informing me that no one else had booked that day/time and they couldn't accommodate a tour with just two people, so they wanted to cancel the tour. First of all, purchasing a tour through Groupon should not alter the level of service. I don't even know why the method of payment had to be mentioned. I'm not sure whether the message was just worded poorly or whether they actually meant that less money paid = less service, but I found that to be rude. Secondly, it's difficult to understand why they waited a couple of hours before the actual tour to cancel. Clearly, a personal phone is difficult to check while at work, and when I called back, the employee sounded annoyed that I hadn't responded sooner. ***

All the samples!

I love taking food tours when I travel and this was one of my favourites! I have tj apologize in advance though... We took the tour in early August and I am just now reviewing and do not remember the amazing tour guides name. She was fantastic though! It was like being shown around by a friend rather than a tour guide! We did the Tastes of Pike's Place tour. It started with an easy location to meet and fresh baked mini doughnuts. She began by giving us some history about Pike's Place and about the spots we were going to. We had only looked around the market for a little while before and I had absolutely no idea how big it was! I was so impressed by the restaurants and shops we visited. Especially since they all were local, natural and/or family owned. The day was warm but we were provided with water bottles and shade when needed. Our group was small which was nice, about 10 people and the price of the tour was great considering how much information we learned and the food we ate. My favourite stop was the truffle shop where we sampled many different kinds of oils and salts. My fiancé loved the gelato. Our lovely guide even recommended a restaurant for us to celebrate our recent engagement at that night - Branzinos in Belltown. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to taking one in another neighbourhood on our next visit. Make sure you come hungry!

Some great smoked salmon at this location!

I love her enthusiasm, knowledge, historical facts, and information she shared with us regarding Pike Place Market and its vendors. The curated food samples around the market were well-organized, generously portioned, and delicious. I highly recommend this tour for both locals and tourists alike. I am a local Seattleite. I did this tour for the first time over 10 years ago and was pleased that it wasn't exactly the same places we stopped at before. Plus, it reminded me to go back and support businesses that I had forgotten about and to continue exploring the market and to come back often because this place is truly a gem and worthy of our support for being 100% local and run by small business owners. Today was a perfect afternoon well spent :-)

Loved most of the food we tried, but a smoothie or juice drink option would be a nice addition! :) I also wish sharing pronouns was part of the introductions. I realize folks are from all over and might not understand, but you can make it optional! It would have made me feel more comfortable in the group as a non-binary person.

We visit Seattle quite a bit so Pike Place Market…read moreis definitely not new to us, but we wanted an activity to do and since we both have never done a food tour before we thought, why not. Not only did we get to sample many different yummy "bites" within the market, we also got to learn about the rich history and culture of how the market came about. It gave me such a deeper respect for this place. Booking this tour is fairly easy to do online. On the day of you are to meet at the designated location to meet your guide. If there are any issues you can contact the owner Mark directly and they have a 100% money back if you're not satisfied. If this isn't good customer service then I don't know what is. Our guide for the day was Chip. Chip was friendly, funny, and engaging. You can tell he loves his job and is proud to share his knowledge about the market. He remembered all of our names and I felt this made it seem so much more personal than a tour. If there is a large group you will be provided audio headsets but since we were only a group of 6 that day we were able to hear him just fine without them. You can tell there has been a lot of thought put into this tour and I applaud the company for such a wonderful job well done. Not only were the bites we got to sample so delicious, they were a nice variety ranging from the the famous Pike Place Chowder to Elleno's Greek Yogurt to Texas BBQ to Mexican tacos to Paris-inspired crepes to fresh local and seasonal fruits, just to name a few. And let's talk about the servings. They feed a generous amount so that by the end of the tour we were actually full. Totally bang for your buck! This is a great activity for tourists and locals alike to spend an afternoon at the market. A nice plus is if you decide to come back and visit any of the merchants after the tour, you will receive a discount. If you're reading this then do not wait any longer! Go reserve a tour now! Unfortunately my friend and I found the tour rather boring. The leader (cannot recall his name) initially shared some interesting history, but we actually saw very little of the city. We spent way too long at some of the 'stops' listening to the guide's stories, but we got tired of his 'jokes' and just didn't find it very engaging. The tour could have been 1 hour... 2 hours was way too long.

Chef Tracy is an absolute rockstar. She kicked off the day with a walking tour of Pike Place Market, weaving in local history while introducing us to some of the best vendors and food artisans in the city. Thanks to her incredible connections, we got to sample fresh bites and meet the people behind the food. And just when we thought it couldn't get better--she got me in to catch a fish. Yes, a real fish thrown at me in the middle of the market with a crowd watching. Talk about pressure--but I caught it! We brought all the ingredients back to Atrium Kitchen, rolled up our sleeves, and cooked an incredible meal together. The vibe was relaxed but energized--everyone was hands-on and having an absolute blast. Dinner was next‑level. We had a private dinner inside Pike Place Market after hours--total bucket‑list vibes. As a vegan, I was blown away by the care Chef Tracy took with my meal. She prepared this salad, elegant broccolini-chimichurri (actually something fancier than plain broccoli) and perfectly roasted potatoes--they were even better than most vegan meals I've had at restaurants. The rest of the team raved about the halibut, ribs, and other dishes that looked absolutely amazing. If you're visiting Seattle--or even if you live here--Atrium Kitchen at Pike Place Market is a MUST-DO. It's perfect for team outings, special celebrations, or just doing something different and utterly memorable. Chef Tracy makes you feel like a VIP from start to finish. Absolutely 10/10!
