Ha day ring and band for about a year and a half now and they have fulfilled all my dreams! Seriously I am picky and Rene is so precise and thorough that my ring is exactly what I wanted and more. The price of everything was amazing. Rene is great with customers. He gave me his cell number while my bad was being made so I could text for status on it. He even met me 2.5 hours before they opened so that I could pick up my ring after being resized. Seriously felt like they were bending over backwards for me and still do. Fantastic place, fantastic work! I wanted a very specific design on the ring for my fiancé, and I went to at least six other jewelry stores to see what they had and here there quotes. Nobody had the right combinations of metal, stone and design, and I finally decided just to get it custom made! Unprofessional, irresponsible, unreliable, and unpleasant. I would not recommend them to anyone. Seriously. Not worth your time. Not worth your money. Sales tip: don't "should" on the customer. Especially if they have not entered into any agreement. If you want my money, you need to do the work to earn it. Not me. Sales tip 2: if you promise something, deliver on it, and if you can't, it's your fault, not the customer's. If you say you'll give an exact price on the 2nd visit, and give an approximate range on the 5th, that's a problem. If you say you'll get a ring to me at a certain time, and when I come to get it, you have no recollection of who I am, what I want, and what you promised me, DO NOT tell me I should have done anything differently. Finally, don't ask for money when you haven't delivered on a single promise. If you're about to lose a customer, give them something they want, don't ask for more from them. The moral of the story is if you want to sell something, people have to like you. They can't do that if you treat them like they don't matter. read more

Nobody else could really understand why I wanted to design my ring myself and not use one of their "Custom ring templates" where you only pick your diamond and your band. Lame. I also shopped around a lot for diamonds, thinking I might find a better deal if I just looked around. I learned a TON doing that, but I also learned that I got the best deal from Custom Ring Design. So I came back to René with my ring drawn up and a couple of important details and I had it within 10 days. I bought our wedding ring there, and they were accommodating to exactly what my wife wanted, she has been very pleased with it since we were married in 2005. I had some situation that meant I would not be able to go pick up the ring before I needed it, and Rene came and delivered it to me. Outstanding service in my opinion. I take it back every year to get it cleaned, and they are friendly and great to work with. Rene has always been so attentive to me. when designing our first ring with him he used all the same quality, clarity, and color, and carat, as other sellers, but slashed the price and customized it down to lots of detail. My ring is absolutely gorgeous, so I will lead with that. My fiancé knew exactly what I wanted, and showed just a couple photos to Rene'. My ring was finished in 5 days. And he proposed to me the following week. I am absolutely in love with it, and they did great. However, I needed the ring to go down half a size. Not even a full size. I dropped the ring off on a Saturday, and Dave told me it would be finished in 2 days MAX from when they started it. He also warned me that they wouldn't be able to start on it until the following Monday. I was fine with that. It got to be that Thursday, and I hadn't heard from them at all. So I called, and just wanted an update. Rene' made me feel dumb for not knowing it was a longer wait time than that, when Dave told me it would be done by Tuesday at the latest. He then told me, he was with a customer and would have Dave call me later. It is now the next Tuesday, and I have still yet to hear anything. I dropped my ring off 9 days ago, and it has almost been the "week and a half" Rene told me it would be. I'm disappointed and sad that two business owners would treat a newly engaged customer this way. Especially since my fiancé spoke so highly of them and their skills. If you want a beautiful ring, this is the place. If you want great customer service, look elsewhere. read more

I went to CRD after I had found the perfect ring for my wife-to-be at a pawn shop in Provo for about $1,200. I had concerns about whether the old ring would hold up over time, so I went to see Dave at CRD to see if they could recreate it with a custom job at a similar price, ideally around $1000. To our pleasure, he could! Dave was great while picking out and landing the diamond sale. During our final design meeting, I restated several times that I was ok with a smaller center stone, so long as there were no inclusions. That was very important to us for what the ring symbolized about our relationship. He was great at getting the ring built and delivered on time, even letting me know as soon as my ring came in so I could put orchestrate a proposal right before a long break. It looked awesome! A beautiful ring at the right price and the right design, and to my pleasure at pick up, about $50 cheaper than we anticipated ($950)! That's when I got a little suspicious, everything seemed to be a little bit too good to be true. But everything seemed alright so we moved forward with the final sale. It wasn't until my wife had the ring for a couple of weeks that we noticed the large inclusion in the diamond we had bought from Dave. It was devastating, mostly because we thought so highly of the ring, and I thought I had made it clear that a lack of inclusions was an important part of the final product. As Dave explained later, inclusions are hidden when a ring is perfectly clean so I didn't see it at the point of sale, but when they get a little dirty (lotion, skin oils, etc), the inclusions show right through. As it turned out, the only reason we were able to get the price we did was because the diamond was flawed. We took the ring back to Dave to see what we could do, and he had kept records on the sale. I thought somewhere in there I could prove that I had asked for no inclusions. On the final document (which I had signed off on) for the diamond, he pointed to the smallest ink mark on the representative paper diamond. I thought it had been where his pen had glanced the page or something, it was so small and insignificant. It turns out it was his proof of an inclusion. For a while we were sad, and a little angry. We felt a little jipped. Now I don't believe it was his intention to fool or trick us, I think he was trying to get us the ring we wanted in the price we wanted, and poach a good sale from the local pawn shop. If there's anything to fault, it's Dave's incredibly customer oriented way of approaching business and "can do" attitude . It makes him a pleasure to work with, but in this case, led to him forgetting one of the most important parts of our requirements. After 3 years of marriage, we still haven't been able to get the diamond replaced, it's just too expensive on a student budget. So, while I have no qualms with Dave and the rest of the crew at CRD, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere, because it seems that in this case, we got what we paid for, and there is a reason why more established professional jewelers do so well. read more

I ordered an engagement ring for my wife and it was perfect. Dave worked with me on every detail. Only thing was that my wife's hands are so small that he couldn't get the ring small enough and still keep the design she wanted. So it was a little loose. My wife just used a second ring she loved to brace it and it worked out. Then, 5 months into being married, she accidentally bent it in the door. We sent it back to him to fix under our ring insurance, and it's been 5 months and it still isn't fixed. If it doesn't show up by October 19, our anniversary, my wife will have spent more than half our marriage without the ring and missed having it for our anniversary. CRD has been unresponsive in text, e-mail and phone but for a few times with fleeting details and promises that it "was shipped and will arrive soon." read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The customer service is terrible. My husband and I went there to get my ring almost 4 years ago. They seemed nice and very helpful the first time we went in. We went back and order the ring. They told us it would be 3-4 weeks for it the be made. It took almost 3 months before they finished, and every time we called to check on an estimated time for it to be done they would say a week at the most. We were pretty happy with the ring, but after a few months the service just got worse and worse. I would go in to get the ring inspected and they would tell me that they didn't have time or that I would have to leave it for 3-4 hours. I live and hour away and don't always have time to spend all day down here waiting for them to do an inspection. (Other places I have been to take 2 minute to look at the ring) When they sautered my ring together they used the wrong color gold and it broke apart and I had to leave it with them another month to get it fixed. The final last straw was the ring broke on the opposite side of the diamond (where my palm is) completely in half. When we called them they told us we wouLd have to pay for the repairs. (My ring is still under warranty) These guys do not care about their work, only about getting money and moving to the next. I will not be going back and will find someone else to service my ring. read more

We took it in for an appraisal so we could get it insured and they appraised it at a much higher value. he always takes good care of my wife and always helps polish up the ring to make it look like she just got it. I contacted Custom Ring Design in Provo because a blogger I follow got her engagement ring and wedding band designed here and it was everything I could have dreamed of. I contacted the blogger for more info. on her rings, and she referred me to Custom Ring Design to get more info. as she didn't have the answers I was looking for. At first, Dave was really nice, but didn't answer all of my questions. It was somewhat of an inconvenience to keep repeating myself in my e-mails. I was very specific because I wanted to ensure I had all of the information I needed to move forward. Initially, I was just contacting CRD for information on the specs of this blogger's ring because I live out-of-state and had no intention of designing my ring at CRD for this reason. Dave then said they often do designs for out-of-state customers, but still wouldn't confirm whether or not CRD ACTUALLY designed the rings I was inquiring about. Since my fiance and I were upgrading my current engagement ring because I was unhappy with how a ring he purchased for me unseen (we used Brilliant Earth and I picked it out), my fiance insisted we design locally because our last not in-person experience didn't go so well. I told Dave this, and that I felt uncomfortable shipping my stone back and forth, and didn't want to have to do so in the future for repairs. Instead of assuring me of their processes, my e-mails then completely went ignored. I even offered to work out a way to just purchase the CAD of the blogger's rings I was initially inquiring about because I valued their artistry, but just preferred the benefits of having a local jeweler and still no reply. I don't own my own business, but if I did, I would conduct it with enough integrity to at least acknowledge my potential customer's concerns to possibly win over their business instead of abruptly turning it away. read more
