I had a veggie burger here. The veggie burger Pattie is really a black bean pattie. The buns and toppings are average and the portion size is incredibly small. I guess the restaurants after security at EWR terminal C are all below average read more

I waited 30 minutes after ordering just to find out that the order wasn't placed. What a s-y place. Don't waste your time there. read more

Below average burgers. I've yet to come across any restaurant in an airport I've wanted to rave about because of their awesome food. This place supports my case that you can't really find anything good to eat in an airport so be sure to set your expectations low. I ended up getting the burger with blue cheese & bacon and tater tots. The burger itself was pretty small and was relatively dry. There was only a skimpy portion of blue cheese and the bacon was really thin, flimsy and pathetic. The tater tots, however, were actually pretty decent. They were a little too oily but still had a nice crunch. The food is definitely overpriced for the value/what you're getting. But it doesn't seem like the other restaurants around here are any better. I probably won't be back. read more

Decent burgers - my personal favorite is the Ciao Torino (it's veggie). Service is rather poor (minus two stars). You have to enter your order in their station containing a row of tablets. After that you pay to the cashier presenting your order ticket. Then the wait begins ....... 5 to 20 minutes : depending on how many customers there are and how motivated the grill crew are. I've have also tried their staple burger - the Americana which is really just a glorified Micky D burger. Do not bother about making a selection for the medium/well done option for the pattie .... it always comes out the same way : well done ;) read more

Really really dry meet. Processed food. Really sad looking one leaf of lettuce and one slice of tomato on my turkey BLT. Checkout system is a mess. read more

Custom Burger - Turkey BLT. $9 dollars of processed, low quality food. Nope, won't do that again. - Burgers Near Me - Newark, New Jersey

Don't waste your time. A great concept but the patties are thin and tasteless. Maybe because when I ordered medium on the meat it came to me as if it were cooked in Chernobyl. Crispy. Anyways- it was a huge disappointment for the 11.00 I paid for a double with cheese. Better off going to McDonald's and pay half the price for a shitty burger. The only bright spot was the kid who took my money. He was cheerful, bubbly and full of acne. read more

The $14 bbq burger was about the size of a McDonald's cheeseburger. While it wasn't bad, not worth the money. I'd go next door to the Philly cheesesteak. You'll get your moneys worth there. read more

i didn't even get my food. i ordered just fries and waited about 20 minutes. i had to board and i told the worker, even though it would have taken 10 seconds to scoop the pre cooked fries in a box. so i wasted $5 and never got my food. slowest workers i've seen in my life. i wish there was a way to get my money back read more

It's an edible if sloppily assembled burger (mine: single patty, cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, mayo, mustard). Fries are elementary school grade. Raspberry lemonade is ok. All this for $21 and change... If you don't order a combo toppings are extra, from $1 for cheese slice to $1.50 for bacon. Not worth it even for airport food and if your starving the single party barley does it. So a little La Guardia Airport Terminal C tip. Keep walking past the food court with the Biergarten and Custom Burgers, just past all this was a much more edible smelling Italian spot called Cotto, looked like decent portions for a similar price as my $21 burger and lemonade. read more

A Shake Shack wanna be. This rating is for the twenty minutes of my life that I'll never get back. The only reason we made it through the long line is because everyone in front of us gave up and left. Arrive at ipad and actually select food items. Receipt prints out. We wait with others for someone to actually come to take payment. Never happens. Meanwhile folks behind the counter are scraping burnt burgers and globs of cheese off grill and tossing them into the garbage. People waiting for their orders is fifteen deep. Epic fail. read more

It's an ok middle of the road one step up from fast food burger. If you're starving in Newark airport, and it's right across from your gate, it's not too bad. The menu is a la carte, do if you want any extras, you'll have to order them yourself. The Mexicali burger had fresh jalapeños, which I definitely didn't expect. Not horrible...just not memorable. read more

Looks like a cool spot to order a burger! The user interface for the app maybe didn't actually do any testing. I had tried to make a burger from the menu display and it was not working out. Got my food order texted in 7-8 mins, just walked a few steps away after collecting it and noticed the bun was stone cold and the patty was barely luke warm. I showed the lady at the counter and she made a big deal about it, rolled her eyes and made excuses. I was really quite irritated with her behavior and felt like explaining the ABC of customer service. They took it in the back and heated it up, it took maybe 3-4 mins and the lady at the counter told me to wait at the back of the queue. When she called my number again, no eye contact... No apology. Whoever manages that place needs to find some employees that give a damn. read more

Not worth your time and money. I just missed my flight because of their slow freaking service. Their chef of fryer person has an attitude problem and kept telling me the my order is almost ready. Smh I saw the guy behind her holding a the cold meat for my burger. read more

All self check in service with custom made burger. Grass fed beef. Sounded good. BUT, long long wait at least 20mins plus it doesn't even give you an option to add lettuce and tomato. I paid $13.45 for avocado beef burger and didn't get basic lettuce and tomato. Don't use this place. read more

I can almost see how this began... a visionary with a dream of affordable cooked-to-order burgers. He/she came up with an interesting menu with some classic favorites and interesting foodie combinations, secured a spot in the Newark Terminal C location, applied a solid Manhattan aesthetic, had someone code an iPad-powered burger ordering app for the front end, and as the final touch, organized an impressive array of condiments, turned the cash register on... and walked away. This place could be awesome if anyone behind the counter could be bothered. But there's no wayfinding, so customers are milling about, blocking the order kiosks, trying to figure out where the line is among all the people waiting for their orders. The kiosks don't allow you to order anything actually custom, unless you can hack in and reprogram it. The drone working the register only processes what comes out of the kiosk, but can't/won't do substitutions or add-ons. The guy on the grill probably got fired from his previous job as a zombie movie extra because he was moving too slowly. I felt so bad for him, he looked like a lost soul bereft of hope, trapped in slow-time, unable to multitask or do anything beside the next single process. Final result? Order from a list of ten burgers, watch it be prepared in slow motion for the next 25-40 minutes, try not to miss your connecting flight. Probably the exact opposite of the original intent. Which is really sad. read more

This place is okay by airport food standards. The set up is nice. One walks up to the counter and places one's order on an iPad. A ticket is printed and then one steps down to the cashier to pay. Food was ready pretty quickly. I had the Swiss cheese and mushroom burger which was okay. The bun was a little dry. The burger was not very big (about the size of a shake shack burger but not as good). The crinkle fries were a bit old (not freshly made) as they were a little dry as well. If I were to compare this place to shake shack, this place does not compare. But it is okay for airport food. read more

Please for the love of God don't go here if you have any brain at all. The food is overpriced. It may look cheap but everything you add is an additional $. You want tomatoes? $1. You want lettuce? More money please. The food isn't that great either to warrant the money. Oh and I haven't even gotten to the workers. They don't pay attention to you, they just talk to each other about their pregnant friends. Not only that but they refused to give me tap water claiming they ran out of cups for water. They can't give me a drink cup because you know, I could potentially hop the counter and steal their drinks from the drink fountain behind the counter. Good luck getting your overpriced, over-oiled order in a courteous and prompt manner. read more

Badly organized and incredibly slow. Several people walked away after waiting in line to order, because they hadn't noticed the 3 iPads stationed off to the right, and you can't pay or order at the cash register unless you've ordered at the iPads. Line flows right-to-left (iPad to cash register to waiting area for order pickup), which only adds to the confusion because in western culture things tend to flow left-to-right in these situations. But hey, who am I to second guess when the chaos this place has created might be some subversive kind of art form. I finally walked away without my milkshake AFTER I'd paid for it, because they kept telling me "just a couple more minutes." Had a plane to catch, and never thought a shake could take 10 minutes to create. Won't be back. read more

This review is for food only. I thought long and hard if the food is 1 or 2 stars. I am giving them 2 stars only because they use Martin's potato buns (just like Shake Shack). Everything else is one star. Possibly the worst burger I had in a very long time. I ordered my burger medium - which is an option when you are asked to build your custom burger. The patties were burnt hockey pucks. Almost inedible. Horrible. I observed the line cook pressing the living soul, with a spatula, out of, what appeared to be, already over-done burgers. The meat was under-seasoned (I would even go so far to say not seasoned at all), completely bland and tasteless. Other ingredients were also mediocre at best. They put one slice of cheese on a double burger - which is just stingy, and they charge $1.50 for sauteed onions!!! Anyway, I paid over $12 for one of the worst burgers in my life! read more

Service was super slow and young last doing the serving was not hospitable or accommodating. I only stopped because they had a veggie burger on the menu. Food was just ok....I know it's airport food but we should still have a higher expectation, especially for the price we pay. read more

Overpriced McDonald's. Pretty sure the buns are the plain old grocery store variety and the meat is dry. Took forever to get the food and the dude working the place had an attitude for no reason read more

Good looking menu but not executed well at all. Order system was fine and a minor annoyance to pay and just have the person ask if it was indeed what I wanted. Ordered the green chile and avocado burger. A quarter of an avocado came in the burger but not sliced, so that went poorly. Forgot the green chile on my burger as well. As noted in other reviews, only one person does frying and dispensing orders. So my burger sat for 10 minutes before my fried pickles were ready. They had to "go find someone" who could fry pickles. The pickles came straight out of the fryer and into the container so when I got them to my table they were swimming in oil. Tasty once I got them drained. Burger was ok but not great. Not really worth the trouble considering the other options around read more

Burger was small and cooked double extra well. Paid $7 for burger the size of a McDonald's hamburger (not the quarter pounder). No tomatoes lettuce etc--just bun, slice of cheese, and overcooked shingle of beef. Not sure why they even bother to inquire about temperature. Awful food. Expensive for tiny burger. Service requires you to stand in line to order, a new line to pay, and another to wait for food. read more

Incompetent people, very slow service, crappy food. I've eaten a lot of airports & this is one of the worst places I've been. The general attitude of everyone working there is, honestly, as a customer, you're a nuisance. They would do well to fire everyone & stat with a clean slate. read more

Simply dreadful. Ordered a veggie burger with add-on avocado and paid for it. Then, then they decide to tell me they are out of veggie burgers, won't refund my payment but will make me something that I don't want, that isn't vegetarian and won't come with avocado. Epic fail. Avoid at all costs. read more

I tried to check yelp before getting lunch but the connection was poor. So I wasn't warned that the burgers are small and over cooked and dry. Definitely not worth it. However, I give them 2 stars for the Oreo shake. Nice and thick and fast, but they need thicker straws to deal with the chunks. Grab a spoon if you do get a shake! read more

Worst place ever. They don't have the one items on the menu, keep taking orders and changing them to what they want, and are super slow. Avoid at all costs. I think at large this is a failure of the automation happening at this terminal. It is not enough to just add tablets that can take orders everywhere, if there is no one checking them and updating them in the back. read more

This place was sooooo bad! Just the bad service alone ruins it. The burger, well... sucked. I've never experienced such bad service at an airport. read more

No idea what is custom about these burgers. You order thru an iPad or some similar device. Couldn't remove onions or even say how I wanted it cooked. How is that custom? read more

Worst experience I've ever had at an airport, after initial confusion on how the order and payment process worked they took OVER 30 mins to even start making my order. After asking and them screaming to the kitchen the person working the front just stared at me and moved to finish another order thy was after mine so I had to leave because I was about to miss my flight. Never got my food, and the food I did see looked worse than a fast food joint. I've never had such terrible service at a new terminal. read more

The burgers are absolutely terrible. Its not often you run into something that is so bad you cannot finish and this is it. Dont waste your money here. Tatortots are fine. read more

Veggie burger was cold and very marginal tasting. I'm definitely not a germaphobe, but using an iPad to order is not good. Dude ahead of me wiped snot off of his nose while typing in his order. I had the lady show me how to do it so I didn't have to touch that nasty Petri dish. read more

Pathetically bad food, only made worse -- and yes, much worse -- by counter staff that was completely unhelpful and uninterested in engaging with customers. But that seemed to be a constant thread with the staff as you walked by all the commonly owned eateries on this end of Terminal C, from the Wabi-sabi joint next store, to "The Deli," to the fried chicken place. The only thing that will keep these places going is that they have a captive -- or trapped -- audience. Otherwise, eat some place else. Burger sucked. And the fried chicken sandwich? Nothing more than a large chicken nugget thrown on a bun. For Christ's sake, people, have you ever been to Chick-fil-A? Can it be that hard? Hey, OTG Management (printed on the receipt), you suck. read more

"Custom" is relative. You pick a type of burger, choose from limited toppings, and they cook the pre-made patty until it's gray inside. And only to go!All for about $11 or $12. What a deal! read more

The ordering process at this airport is really convenient with tablets that you can order whatever is in the terminal and they'll deliver your food. I only wish I had read the reviews before spending so much money on burgers that were small, lukewarm, and improperly made. We ordered three custom burgers, and they messed up the order three times. In the end the kids didn't finish them, and I was tired of sending them back. Who manages this place? I'd feel pretty ineffectual as a manager if a place is reviewed so poorly and it just doesn't get better. read more

Food was a huge disappointment. For a high end burger restaurant, the burger was greasy, small, not seasoned, and expensive. McDonalds would have been better. Crinkle fries weren't crinkle fries. When we placed an order and printed it, an item wasn't available. Our choice? Redo the entire order ourselves. Staff was very rude to almost ever customer. Asking for ketchup was apparently the wrong thing to do. Would never eat there again. read more

OMG this place is a joke. Garbage Pre-formed frozen patties. The pictures of what you are buying don't look like the actual tapa sized portions, priced like an entree. Their is NOTHING custom about this place. And aside from the bait and switch, the food isn't even a little bit good. read more

Nope. The entire idea of this place is a fail. I NEVER want to order my food with an ipad - that is what we pay servers for. I waited 20 minutes for two burgers and a shake, total cost $30! Burgers were ok - nothing special. I waited all that time and they didn't even toast the bun. This is clearly one of those airport businesses that does not care about repeat customers. No one would ever do this twice. read more

Dry leathery meat with boring white bun and nothing in it except a sad piece of lettuce and a mushy tomato. Nasty. Not worth it.

Good burger! Horrible Service! If you are at EWR airport Terminal C at 6pm on May 27 avoid this place. Made the mistake of asking the "chef" how to make simple changes like adding sliced onion to my avacado burger (not allowed). He made it clear he really had no interested in dealing with the public he was cooking front of. He indicated mostly through gestures (I'm not sure he ever actually uttered a single word or answered a single question with words) that I could do it all on the tablet where you place the order. Wrong! Told me to get an attendant to show me. Nope they couldn't figure it out. Then one of the workers who puts the burger together came out. She was able to prove my point for me. She agreed with me that you have to ask the employees (who look and act like they are being totally put out) if you need anything like ketchup, peppers, pickles, lettuce, whatever). It got a little loud. I yelled "Tell HIM (the chef) how the process works." All the customers around me started agreeing with and saying "your right" it's Not at all possible to make a "custom" burger at Custom Burger. This one anyway. To the chef who has zero interest in customers service, dude...if you hate your job just quit. But don't take it out on people who are already stressed out at the airport. They have nothing better to do while they sit and wait to write complaints. read more
