Today I had a visit with Dr. Robinson who was very thorough in going over my chart, and discussing my concerns. I was very concerned about meeting him; as Dr. Murphy has been my PCP for 25 years, but he's on administrative leave. It seems as if my long time trusted physician will not be back at this office. Dr. Robinson has a much different style of treatment and "bedside" manner. I felt heard and believe that he will do what we discussed. I worked with Dr Robinson for seven years. On three different occasions he said to me "the only hope for the United States is for all Eastern Europeans to be eliminated". Clearly he meant Jews. At first I thought I must be imagining something as I thought he was smarter than to say something like that. Dr. Posner was a mentor of his. AND my son who is the grandson of a holocaust survivor was teaching his son violin. After I saw him giving different levels of care to people regarding their political affiliation and religion, I walked out. I could say more here but I will not. Dr Robinson was my primary care doc for several years until his failure to diagnose an episode of congestive heart failure put me in the hospital. I had been feeling very unwell all day, shaking and vomiting. When I went to bed that night, I couldn't catch my breath and felt I would suffocate if I lay prone. After a miserable night of no sleeping, throwing up and struggling to breathe, I asked my husband to call Robinson's office. The doctor told my husband to go to the drug store and get me some mylanta. Several hours later, I was headed to the hospital in an ambulance with congestive heart failure. In my opinion, this is not good practice of medicine. Dr Robinson is just too hip, slick and cool for me - an old lady with lots of chronic health conditions. He seems to want patients who need treatment for tennis elbow and shin splints from running marathons - in other words, young people who are basically healthy. Anyone with a serious medical condition should beware. He is not the right practitioner for older folk. read more

Dr. Robinson did a thorough physical of me in 2018 including a prostate exam, and pronounced me fully healthy. A routine blood test for a new insurance company a few weeks later revealed I had stage 3 prostate cancer. I survived it thanks to surgery , but Dr. Robinson's misdiagnosis could have killed me. Instead, I am glad to simply declare him and his practice "dead to me". My nurse practitioner, Diana Saylor, surely saved my life. I was just doing my usual yearly stuff, but of course with the disruption of a pandemic, I missed last year. I am grateful for the highly skilled care. Additionally, the new office space is a much more pleasant atmosphere. I encouraged my close friend to join this practice. It is cozy and gives you that small town doctor's office feel. The office does not provide vaccines for Shingles, TDAP, Influenza or any of the others that are recommended. Locally, these shots are provided at pharmacies and grocery pharmacies. I'd rather have these at the office. Overall, it is a good trade off. I am happy to take in person visits and televisits. read more

Dr. Robinson charged me $193.00 for a phone call requesting a refill of antibiotics. On the bill it stated established office visit. I did not visit the office. I called rquesting a refill of the medication, which I got from a Dr. Deborah Miller, as dr. Robinson was not available or in office that day. The first phone call requesting help in obtaining medication cost $38.00. As I said, the second phone call was listed as an office visit, which it was not and cost $193.00. No one ever told me that when Dr. Miller would call me back, it would cost this much more. I already knew the cost of the first call. I have called Blue Cross and have a case #. This is unfair, outrageous, and a total rip-off. read more

I liked Dr. Robinson himself when I saw him a couple times. I have a few pretty serious complaints though: - I received a letter in the mail saying I'd have to pay more than $100 each year if I wanted to keep seeing Dr. Robinson... this fee was explained to cover the office's administrative costs and to help the office return calls on the same day. Health care is already so expensive though and I was not looking for a "designer" doctor where I'd have to pay extra's like this. - I had trouble getting a response about test results from medical tests that I'd had done. I eventually did get the results but the process was not as easy as I would have hoped... read more

It's always a daunting task to find a new physician after your work switches plans on you! I looked on yelp, I looked into Marin IP's, looked into Dr. Robinson's history and reviews and could not be happier. The office has serene decor, and a great staff. I was seen in a timely manner, and Dr. Robinson made me feel at ease. It is nice to have found a new doctor close to home who is empathetic, caring and professional, having an easy manner about him. I can't say that I've ever been a patient of Dr. Robinson's, though I certainly tried. In March 2021, I contacted Dr. Robinson's office seeking an appointment as a new patient and completed all of the required "paperwork" through the online patient portal. Subsequently, I received a call from his office to set an appointment date and time, confirm my insurance information. At this time, his office also discussed the annual administrative fee that is charged to cover administrative fees -- something I was willing to pay (though, on further investigation, it's not entirely clear that this is an appropriate or entirely legal practice...but that depends entirely on the agreement between the practitioner and the insurance carrier, to which patients aren't exactly privy...and I digress). Now, at this point, I've spent a fair bit of time completing paperwork, speaking with his office staff, and setting an appointment for roughly a week later. So imagine my surprise when, only a couple hours ahead of my scheduled appointment, his office contacts me and tells me they aren't sure his practice accepts my insurance. Wait...you aren't sure? My insurance carrier says Dr. Robinson accepts my insurance. We confirmed my insurance information when I set the appointment. And now you're not sure? But if I'd like, I'm welcome to come in, see the doctor, and perhaps everything will get sorted out...or maybe I'll be billed the full cost directly? Hmmm...I see. Needless to say, I don't need to see a doctor that can't give me a straight answer about whether my insurance is accepted at his practice. And by mutual agreement with his office, my appointment with Dr. Robinson was cancelled. And I've never contacted them again. All of this is why I was so surprised to receive a bill today from Dr. Robinson informing me that my annual administrative fee is now due. I am not a patient of Dr. Robinson's. I have never been a patient of Dr. Robinson's. And here they have the chutzpah to ask me to send payment for $225 (discounted to $195 if I pay by March 31...woo hoo!). I get it; healthcare costs are piling up. But make what you will of a medical practice that engages in the somewhat dubious practice of charging administrative fees to in-network insured patients. And think twice about a practice that sends a bill to someone who has never even been a patient because his office can't manage their own administrative issues (mind you, I was never compensated for the time I spent...*cough* wasted *cough*...with them). read more

I was a patient of "Dr. Robinson" for many years. I only actually got an appointment with him once. I usually saw Dr. Genovese, who I didn't know left the practice until I called to make an appointment with her and was casually told by the receptionist that she had left. I had an interaction with Dr. Robinson that I will never forget because it continues to upset me to this day. When I met with him, I was 27 or 28 at the time, and I had a few questions about my IUD. I had a multitude of symptoms that I was curious if the IUD could cause. As soon as I brought it up, he looked at my left hand, saw that I had a wedding ring on and said "But you're married?" I answered in the affirmative and he asked why I would be on birth control if I'm married. I said that I wasn't ready for children. He said I needed to just go and start having kids. I rebutted that it is extremely expensive especially in the Bay Area. He went on about a 5 minute tangent about having children. I changed the subject to other issues I had been having and at the end of the appointment, as I was leaving, he said "okay now go make some babies!" He quite literally shamed me for being on birth control because I am married and since I'm a married woman there is no reason for me not to be trying to have children. It was the most shocking and infuriating conversation I have had with a man, not to mention a doctor. I have never gone back and never will. My husband refuses to go back as well especially since he had an appointment with Dr. Robinson and the doctor never asked my husband about children, just saved that for the woman with birth control issues. I am no longer a patient of Dr. Robinson, but decided to go ahead and post this very unfavorable review of my time with him - about 3 years. I began treating w Dr Robinson after leaving my previous PCP, Cheri Forrester. Dr. Forrester drove me away by shouting "Be quiet!" at me while I was discussing my health complaints. Apparently, I was talking too fast for her to keep up with the typing of her notes for my chart. Dr. Robinson, although he was never rude, was also a failure as my physician. I am a senior with a long and grim medical history. Dr Robinson's practice seems to focus more on younger patients and he actually did me harm. Although I have diabetes, he suggested I go on a juice diet to lose weight, which meant I was getting no fiber which is critical to my diet. My ex-husband doctor was horrified with that plan. A few years later, I had been awake all night experiencing sweating, nausea and difficulty breathing. My husband called Dr. R who recommended that my husband go to the pharmacy and buy me some Mylanta. I ended up being taken by ambulance to MGH suffering from congestive heart failure, a diagnosis which Dr R completely missed, thereby endangering my very life. At that point, I found my current doctor, flash gordon, who is a winner in every regard. As an aside, Dr. R was very tardy in keeping patients waiting for long stretches. His comment when I mentioned this was, "What's a little wait when the medicine is right?" Not only was the wait very long, but the medicine was NOT right. I would not recommend Dr. Robinson, especially to older patients. read more

My wife has been going to Dr. Robinson for years, and as her husband, I sometimes call on her behalf to schedule appointments or talk about insurance or a bill. I have to say that this office has one of the nicest staffs around. Always so super helpful, and always kind and courteous when I call. Dr. Robinson is a kind and pleasant man. However, in comparing him with my previous GP (now retired), along with the various other doctors and specialists I have seen over the years, he's not making the grade. I think the root cause, in my opinion, is that Dr. Robinson is not actually that curious about his patients, their ailments, and in general their lives. You know how it is when someone is genuinely curious about something or someone? They ask a lot of questions. They probe. They dig for answers, and if they're good diagnosticians they don't jump to conclusions too quickly. I always leave Dr. Robinson's office thinking, "wow, he's a really nice guy," followed by, "did he actually examine me?" I am looking for a doctor who is thorough, and who demonstrates a real curiosity about my health and well-being. Someone who takes a more holistic view of their patients, and isn't just "a nice guy." Seems they just have too many patients to give any actual service once you walk out the door. My initial visit was just fine but later on they stopped refilling my prescription and didn't bother returning voicemails about why. Do I need to go back and see them to have it renewed? I suppose so, but shouldn't they call? The pharmacy told me this was their way of alerting me that I was due for an office visit. Seriously? I think that's rude. How is this possible? A young, friendly, calm family doctor who shoots straight, and can take you whenever you need? I'm almost afraid to write this, in fear that he'll be stampeded by people fed up with impersonal "medical groups," and amazed at his efficiency, local flavor, and utter sense of trust. Spends the time to tell you the problem and the solution. Dr. Robinson's office is painless when it comes to getting an appointment. All the staff are friendly and easy to work with. I see Diana Saylor, PA...she is fantastic. She listens, she problem solves and comes up with a solution. Diana takes very detailed notes, she asks lot's of questions and by the time you leave, you feel like you have a plan of attack. Dr Robinson has been my primary physcian since my old doctor retired several years ago. I like his direct manner. When I told him I needed a motivator to get started on exercising he said "What about death?". Now that is language I can understand. The staff is helpful and attentive. Have had a couple of same day appointments here and had no problem with booking. This doctor has a very nice manner which I really appreciate. Even more so because I have a 2 year old daughter who really doesn't like doctors that much! He quickly calmed her down at her last appointment by interacting with her. Dr. Robinson....A great Doctor and a team!! I woke up with unusual sharp stomach pain. I thought it was a stomach flue. It was referred to Dr. Robinson by my neighbor. Dr. Robinson is a very pleasant person with calming energy. With his through yet quick judgment, I was able to be treated for an appendicitis before it bursted at the Marin General Hospital on the same day. Indeed, as good as it gets. Dr. Robinson is not only a good medical practitioner, the model he uses is to provide good service, meaning that they give attention over time and they are very flexible in making appointments--you can get in to see him or one of the other practitioners very quickly, like within a day or days. Just keep asking. As to the bad reviews, of course they're valid. Everyone's story is, and there's at least two sides to every story. I've experienced a couple mishaps, but I keep persevering and make sure I get taken care of. I'll give you an example: a few years ago I hurt my knee running on a track. Went to see Curtis He listened to my story and felt my knee and said it was tendinitis and that it would be gone in about 6 weeks. That happened. Another time I saw him with a complex issue and he was stumped for a bit during the session. Then he sat back and reviewed my history in his mind and said "I bet it's such and such, given your history." That took care of it. And here's the ultimate: a couple years ago I called around midday with a pressing issue and somehow got him on the phone. He said to come in right away if I could, and I did. I have been really impressed with Dr. Robinson. I appreciate that immediately I feel comfortable with a male doctor talking about all things gynocological. I also felt comfortable with my body and being examined by this doctor which I think is really important for women. I think I like going to this doctor because his wife is there also...She greets you when you sign in so I am supporting a FAMILY in being a patron of Dr. Robinson. I believe the space is lovely with orange walls and tasteful decor. I always feel welcome. As a new patient I just feel I can ask this doctor anything and he just keeps firing back the answers. Also, I just has quite a bit of pain in my right ear and the doctor removed what was troubling me and now I sleep better and without discomfort. I also appreciate his sense of humor and his CALM. I don't feel like I'm a coke bottle on Laverne and Shirley's assembly line. Dr. Robinson takes his time with me and continues to ask, "Anything else?" So I know he cares enough to be really thorough. He's very present with me and not distracted. His focus is appreciated in such a busy, hectic multi-tasking world. I'm really pleased I've found my new doctor. I just want to say if you ever make it to the Dr. Curtis Robinson he might be a very competent and fine MD. His front desk staff how ever is rude, condescending and very unprofessional. Let's just say they need to be a little kinder to new patients and people in general. Let them have a major illness like cancer and see how it feels to get attitude and rude phone behavior. Not impressed at all. Dr. Robinson is rarely in the office and lets his RNs consult. I've had several issues with a diagnosis being incomplete and having to go back for follow-up. I also had issues with too many vaccines they administered at the same time which made me bed sick for over a week. I met Dr. Robinson once and I found him very impersonal, borderline unfriendly and arrogant. My husband has had the same experience with him, and in his case, he had to chase down the staff to get the results on blood work he had done. read more

My impression was that he was going to be that old fashioned doctor that you would get to know and have a relationship with, but I found that each time I went I was with a different physician. Every single time I've gone to Dr. Robinson's office I've had to wait, and wait, and wait. They never run on time, they don't let patients know that they'll be waiting a long time,and they don't apologize. I've waited over an hour before while I was really sick. He now charges an "office fee". I'm opposed to that whole idea. And in my opinion Dr. R. seems very snooty. He just has a snobby air about him, I have not found him to have a warm, friendly personality that makes a patient comfortable. I'll be looking for a new doctor. I've been on a search for a phyisican for my husband, b/c I feel that my husband can find a better doctor closer to home than having to drive across the bridge for his appts and I felt that his other dr. was a total quack. I found & convinced him to go to dr. robinson & he is not thrilled. He was happy at first, but not so much now. No call backs on lab results (he's already called once) and still 2 months later we still haven't heard anything. Today I called the office, so hopefully they'll call my husband with the results. And as another reviewer stated, we just got the letter asking for a $100+ admin fee (discounted if we pay by March) so the staff can do call backs, call in RX's, create an annual letter, etc...! That was an unpleasant surprise. My GP, pediatrician nor dentist have this practice. My husband will be looking elsewhere. read more

Dr. Robinson is an excellent person to see when needing immediate care and long term in general. He and Diana Saylor, PA work very well together with super kind and sincere love for their patients. He and Diana have patients of all ages and great attitudes always ready to assist with letters, forms to efficiently be completed and best personalities. They both have genuine concern for their patients long term helping you and your parents, children, etc. with specific needs carefully paying attention. I am a retired R.N. and have had the best of care from Dr. Robinson and Diana Saylor. I can get an appointment very quickly and in a semi-emergency the same hour. When I first saw Dr. Robinson I found him to be a serious clinician with loads of analytical perception. ( a medical geek ) He understood my various problems and set up a workable schedule to follow my care. In renewing prescriptions it is difficult because Physicians are under new regulations and must renew with an appointment. I questioned it at first until I heard some of the new regulations set forth by the government etc. told to me by my friends in the Health Sciences fields. Diana Saylor diagnosed a problem I was having when a Orthopaedic Surgeon passed on it causing me incredible pain. She is top notch and got me through it. Paying the additional fee is okay with me. It beats the alternative to be seen by a group of doctors who run you through their office line a assembly line rubber stamping like prescriptions to similar diagnosis's . Yes, health care has changed but intelligent care is hard to find. I will stay with this very smart team. read more
