Sally Ward is simply the BEST! She was my mother's physician at One Medical until she passed away, 2 months past 100 years old. So I accompanied my elderly mother to see Sally whenever she needed medical attention. Sally is good! She listens, has vast medical experience, thinks deeply as to what is best for THIS patient, is friendly, medically up to date, and gives her patient the full time they need in her office. I am so appreciative of the care Dr Ward had professionally and personally given to my mother, that I unreservedly give her a 10+ recommendation. I really liked Dr. Ward until she told me that the reason I had gained A Lot of weight was because I was over 40 and that's what happens. Not the case. I kept saying there were signs of fatigue and weight. She kept saying I was fine. I went to my annual ob/gyn and told her the same thing. She checked my thyroid, found a lump referred me back to Dr. Ward for a follow up and low and behold, Dr. Ward called me on Christmas Eve to tell me I had thyroid cancer. She referred me to a surgeon who was on vacation and busy until after the holidays. After my surgery, one would think Dr. Ward would care enough to at least follow up. No such doctor here. She is probably a really nice person, but needs more medical experience and to be honest, I am not sure what she was thinking if she was at all returning my email with a call on Christmas Eve to tell me I had cancer. read more

Sally Ward is one of the managing directors of One Medical. My relationship with Sally Ward is that of being harassed by her as a representative of One Medical. I had been misdiagnosed by three one medical doctors. After that, I'd left yelp reviews for them. Sally called me to complain and blame me and defend the doctors who had all failed to diagnose a serious condition. That condition was ruptured, herniated lumbar disc. Sally followed up with me many times via email. I stopped responding to Sally. Then Sally emailed, wanting me to sign a behavioral contract if I were to continue with one Medical. She sent the email out the night before an appointment I'd had. So on the next morning, as soon as I could do so, I called in to one Medical to see if I needed to cancel. I talked to Chris, a One Medical representative who said that I would be able to see the doctor without having to sign their behavioral contract. I asked him if he was sure, and he said that he was. But when I got to one medical, the doctor brought me into a room with another man and laid a report from Sally on her desk. I was ordered to sign the behavioral reprimand form. I did not agree to sign the form, so I was told to leave and they called 911. I was careful not to interrupt anyone and to be polite. I did not raise any arm, did not raise my voice, or anything. I asked the doctor why I was being ordered to sign and she said because sally said that it was for everyone's feelings of safety. I don't agree to subjugations of consternations from lowly, unintelligent and underhanded bullies. I did not do anything wrong and did not agree to acknowledge that I had done anything wrong. I contend that many of the doctors at one medical made egregious mistakes with my health and I am not sorry for pointing that out. I was right and they were wrong. But Sally was successful in stealing my time and getting revenge on me. read more

I don't think the previous review actually allows you to ascertain the skill or quality of this doctor, as it was strictly based on the circumstances of the group to which Dr. Ward belongs. [Which, by the way, is headquartered in NY/SF, so please save your "Marin entitlement" complaint for more richly deserved areas (of which there are many in Marin, no doubt).] Personally, after 15+ years of overall crappy customer experience with HMOs and "regular" practice PPOs (huge waits, no return phone calls, etc), I was willing to try this out for a year. Dr. Ward, first and foremost, is a caring physician who will go the extra mile for you. About half-way into my 1st year "trial" with this medical group, I called after hours with what I thought was food poisoning. The advice nurse gave me the usual advice, but said she'd let the doctor know. Dr. Ward called me back about an hour later, from the East Coast (where I believe she was on VACATION) at about 11:30pm her time, and checked in, offered to call in a prescription for my nausea, and said she would follow-up when she got back to the Bay Area. And she did. Three days later, she called to check on me. I was astounded at that level of care and follow-up. Not to get into it about the sad state of our society that something this simple should be so amazing, but needless to say, I decided to stay with the practice after the initial trial year. Subsequent visits have been thorough (an hour appointment for an annual physical, which included going over any health issues/medical background, etc). Making appointments is easy and fast (usually can get in within 1-2 days). Lab results (for blood cholesterol, etc) are actually emailed to me with a thorough explanation (Had never seen the actual lab results with previous doctors) and follow-up questions are quickly answered by the doctor. All in all, probably the best doctor experience I've had in the last 10 years (at least). read more

I am a patient of DR. Sally and I have to say she is the best general practice md that I have found in the Bay AREA. The best thing about her is that she has a fantastic sense of humour, does not get upset about anything you might come up with, and follows up quickly to any questions you might have for her. Her office in Marin is very helpful and really at a whole new level of service and politeness. I highly recommend her. UPDATE-I just saw Dr. Sally after a few years at Kaiser. She is still the wonderful healer I remembered. And the office is very helpful. Like any health plan, you have to do your part. Sally is an outstanding doctor. During the holidays both my wife and I incurred medical emergencies. We could on both counts get appointments on the same day with Sally. She also arranged for all the related lab work and test to be set up so we did not have to come back to her office. She followed up with us by email almost on a daily basis. She promptly let us know of the test results within 24 hours in one case and within 3 working days in the other. She is very caring. She is an outstanding listener. She is very knowledgeable. I was really impressed by Dr. Ward. She's down to earth, positive and supportive. As a doctor myself, I know that she trained at one of the top programs in the country, and she came highly recommended by colleagues who said she practices top-notch, up to date medicine. I think it's a real plus that she's knows about complementary and alternative medicine. Her doctoring style is conversational and collaborative...sort of like a life coach. If you prefer a doctor who makes decisions for you and tells you what to do then you might want to keep looking for another doctor. But if you want a doc who's passionate about staying healthy and willing to work with you to get there, she's hard to beat. read more

this woman was absolutely bizzare at my last appt, she didn't address any of my concerns,didn'tdo a physical exam,and kept telling me she didn't have time to see me despite the fact that I booked an extended appt,was there on time, and she had no patients waiting for her before or after the visit! Best medical office I've been to. Reminds me of the days when I was growing up and insurance paid for you to go to any doctor you chose and you got excellent and immediate care. And this is on an HMO!!! Have a question or concern? You can email Dr Ward directly and get a response. Need prescription refills? They keep all your information in their computer for easy, effifcient, immediate service. In a medical crisis? I've been given Dr. Ward's cell phone number in time of a potential emergency over the weekend. Phenomenally helpful, knowledgeable and available staff. I found out that I might be able to get retro-approval for a $6,000 service insurance did not pay for. They've graciously and patiently gone through every step to assist the retro-approval request, including sending me email updates without my asking. The $120 or so boutique fee? If you have it, worth every single penny for the service and care. AND there is a naturopath doctor on staff, so if you care to use western and holistic approaches, it's all right there. read more
