Ask the Community - Wayne Wolfe, MD

    Is he taking new patients?

He's part of the One Medical group. One Medical is taking new patients, but I don't believe that Wayne is. However, if your primary provider is unavailable and Wayne has an appointment open, he's happy to see you.

I worked with Dr. Daniel for about 2.5 years as I was getting sick too often with colds and flus…read more Instead of improving my immune system, it got dramatically worse and my overall health and fitness degraded a lot. Dr. Daniel did a lot of pricy and questionable testing and put me on 41 pills a day of either supplements or prescription medicine. I developed a concerning medical condition I'd never had before that made me feel sicker than ever, requiring me to stop eating many foods, and made me so fatigued, all I could do was lie on the couch most days for months. It was miserable. I finally got fed up with her after the second time she raised her prices significantly during the pandemic and fired her. I had spent tens of thousands of dollars on her appointments, testing and supplements. I immediately went off of everything she had prescribed and felt so much better within two weeks. My health has been just fine since I stopped following her advice 18 months ago. She may have a lot of five-star Yelp reviews but read them closely - few mention good medical outcomes from working with Dr. Daniel. That's because she gives her patients a discount on supplements in exchange for Yelp reviews which they write at the beginning of their treatment before they have any outcomes. This practice is unethical and should be illegal. Note to Dr. Daniel: When you attempt to rebut my review, be sure not to violate HIPAA.

Excellent doctor; disappointing practice…read more First of all, Dr. Daniel is extraordinary: extremely well-informed, profound, compassionate, and caring. Working with her had an incredibly positive effect on my health and well-being and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her, and get back to optimal health. However, there have been recent changes to the practice that feel de-humanizing. Today, in the midst of a pandemic, I tried to log in to ask a question or make a short appointment, and was told my account was "inactive" as I had not had an appointment in a year. I called to see if I could ask Dr. Daniel, a doctor I really trust, a question or make an appointment, and Jason/Jonathan called me to tell me that I was no longer a patient, and the practice was not accepting new patients. I told him I'd been a patient since 2015, and asked him how I could make an appointment, or ask Dr. Daniel a question, and he said I would need to go online and read about my options, that who knows if I could be seen again, but that I might be a "level 2" or "level 3. " When I asked him what that meant, he said I should go online. As a longtime patient, a mother, and a scientist, I felt hurt and disrespected by this de-humanizing interaction. It seemed that the rug had been swept out from under my feet - I was booted from the practice because I felt well and hadn't had an appointment in a year. These new policies, and the interaction with Jason/Jonathan were the exact opposite of my previous experience with Dr. Daniels (warm, humanizing, caring). He left me with no other option than to seek other care.

I am…read moregoing to admit...I am not easy on doctors! :) I come from a medical family and tend to be a med geek and know-it-all :) I love Dr Paz. Before becoming her patient, I saw 2 different doctors for my yearly physicals and didn't last a year with either of them. I have seen Dr Paz 3 times this year, so feel I have a good sense of her practice. I first saw her for my physical and she referred me to some specialists for some serious bone/nerve issues which were going on. I continue to see her/communicate with her often for help with pain management. What I like about Dr Paz is: She does not seem to have a set agenda, she listens to you and makes decisions based on what you are saying. I have agreed with every one of her ideas or strategies to help me feel better. She is professional, yet very caring and nurturing. She is always ready on time or within 15 minutes of my appt time. She takes care of things AMAZINGLY quickly, whether it is a question called in by phone or a refill call in to the pharmacy. About the Office: Receptionists always smiling and efficient. They offer a cash discount for patients without insurance. The woman who does the check out (I wish I had her name)..she helps with referrals as you leave. She is great! She helped me find an affordable place for ultrasound screening..a huge help.

My husband has complicated medical conditions and she is great at dealing with the other medical doctors and overseeing my husbands care. Only bad part was when she went on maternity leave...but she is back now...yah! The Prima group she is with in Terra Linda is professional and do their jobs well in every way...timely appt's, good follow up, return calls. Five stars to them also

I've been a patient of Dr. Shames for over 30 years, and he has had a profound impact on my health…read moreand my life. After my daughter was born, I developed debilitating fatigue, food allergies, and GI issues. He identified a thyroid problem, and treatment helped almost immediately. Years later, when I developed pre-diabetes, he guided me toward books, vitamins, and herbs that helped me fully resolve the issue. In the process, he empowered me to become a far more informed and educated patient--something I consider a real gift. When I first consulted him, his approach to thyroid health differed somewhat from mainstream practice at the time. Over the years, however, the results have spoken for themselves in my case. Dr. Shames looks beyond labs alone to the full picture of how the patient is feeling and functioning. I feel I am living proof that his approach works. I recommend Dr. Shames wholeheartedly. He has been ahead of his time in thyroid medicine for a long time.

It was a simple medication that ended 9 months of anxiety and being so nauseous that I could not eat til the end of the day. He identified that I had adrenaline running through my body...Kaiser mentioned none of this even after many tests... So I have been good but again the last few months have not been feeling good. I was soooooo glad that Dr. Shames was still practicing. I do have Hashimoto thyroid disease and 2 years ago I was given the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. It has been difficult to manage and I was surprised when Dr. Shames identified that the thyroid can have a big influence on Diabetes. I didn't even realize that I wasn't getting enough thyroid medicine...Kaiser had cut my dose too much. With the increase in thyroid medication I am (in a day or 2) feeling better already and we are also looking at my adrenal function which has never been mentioned and looks to be pretty important if you want to feel good. I am even hopeful that my diabetes can be managed without taking insulin or at least less invasive ways to manage it. I so encourage anyone with thyroid issues (it is very under diagnosed) or anything to do with the endocrine system to see Dr. Shames. He is worth every penny and really cares about his patients and can actually help you. I don't want to be hyperbolic or put him too high up on a pedestal but he has been "my miracle doctor." He brings the best of both Western and Eastern medicine and has written several books on the thyroid. The thyroid is more important than most of us think. I am so grateful to him. Do not hesitate to give him a call. We all deserve to feel the best we can. Good health is everything. Dr. Shames can help make this happen.
