This place might fool you. It looks rundown and needs some loving and deeper cleaning. The food was very good and the service was not only excellent but very attentive. I had the New Mexico Burger and Onion rings. Delicious. Charges an extra dollar and didn't tell us, but worth it. Generally a great experience.

Very cool atmosphere as a baseball fan; the food and staff were both amazing as well. Highly recommend the chicken fried streak!

A Newton Kansas staple. Grew up coming here for breakfast and guilty pleasure food. Worth a try.

We eat here regularly and food is usually very good, service is hit and miss sometimes in the evenings but overall a great local option.

Nostalgic old cafe style diner. It has a lot of old sports memorabilia which is awesome. Breakfast is good.

Good breakfast; the Gravy Train and their Omelets (especially the Philly Cheesesteak omelet) are my go-to favourites.

I wouldn't call Ol Stuga a dive bar, but I also wouldn't not call it a dive bar. It's definitely not fancy or trendy. This is not the place to get a glass of wine. (I'm not entirely sure they even have any wine.) They don't have any local beer on tap. But that's not Ol Stuga's fault -- Kansas isn't really a craft beer state, I've learned. Bud Lite and domestics are what you'll find here, mostly. One of the first things you'll notice when you walk into Ol Stuga is all of the money on the ceiling. I sat at the bar, next to a guy who seemed like a regular. I asked the guy why there were so many dollar bills stuck to the ceiling of the bar. He told me, and unfortunately for you, I don't remember what he said because there was alcohol involved. If you want to know why there is money on the ceiling of Ol Stuga, you'll just have to visit and find out for yourself. They have a few things on tap here, and I got a fruity beer from Missouri. I wanted something "local," and Missouri was the most local place that Ol Stuga had on tap. The beer was really good -- light and refreshing. Later, I told some locals that I had visited Ol Stuga, and they high-fived me and asked, "Did they treat you OK?" I was like, "Um, yeah? Why?" And they said that sometimes fights break out every once in a while. I didn't see any fights while I was there, unfortunately, but everyone at OS was great and I had a great time.

Service was bad, and it took over an hour for our order to come out. The appetizer didn't come out until the food was brought. The food itself wasn't impressive either, we ordered chicken fried steaks and fried pickles, it had lots of breading and VERY greasy. The fried pickles tasted like bowling alley food and they were almost $20 for a small amount. What I was most concerned about was when I went to the bathroom I saw 4 ROACHES- which tells me this restaurant absolutely has a roach problem and that's pretty gross. That's not the worst either, as I was leaving i noticed a mouse trap that had been set right inside the swinging kitchen door. So for bad service, mid level food, long waits, EXPENSIVE pricing plus RATS AND ROACHES. We were very disappointed and very disgusted. For a family of 4 I spent $200 because each plate was so expensive and we only got 1 appetizer. The whole family was in regret for our choice to try this awful place. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone ever.
