I was seen on 2 occasions for suspicious looking moles & Dr. Samlaska also gave his professional opinion about a circular growth that had recently surfaced on my cheekbone. I called the office & was so concerned that it may be cancer. I was seen the same day since there was an opening, and it was checked out. I'd recommend him to anyone concerned for any suspicious eruptions. I'm ecstatic over his professionalism and knowledge! Michelle S read more

I went to Dr Samlaska with a scaly growth on the upper right of my nose, he tried to burn it off several times saying it was just a normal skin growth, I finally went to Vivida dermatology and they did a biopsy and it came back as a melanoma, I ended up having MOHS surgery. He always has someone shadowing him during office visits, supposedly as a teaching moment and the first thing he does is pull out his can to freeze/burn stuff off. I do not trust his decisions. read more

Dr. Curt Samlaska and his office staff are amazing. I was so pleasantly surprised as I have been to various dermatology practices in the Henderson area. His bedside manner was wonderful. He's conservative, not knife happy and seems to take a more gentle approach to skin cancer as opposed to immediately cutting and sewing. He's extremely knowledgeable and innovative. I was able to get in very quickly to deal with a squamous cell growth. He was generous with his time and provided thorough explanations. I recommend him highly to anyone seeking a really good knowledgeable, professional and seasoned dermatologist. It was a most pleasant experience. read more

I went to UMC QuickCare then UMC Hospital Emergency, and then to Saint Rose Hospital the next morning for the same medical issue. I have done a CT scan, blood test, and Urin test all tested negative. They sent me home and the problem was not resolved. The next day, I called Dr. Samlaska. He took one look at my swollen skin and rashes and said: YOU HAVE SHINGLES. They failed to pick up the painful medical disease at two previous medical visits. Dr. Samlaska saved me from painful shingles spreading in the early stages. I will be traveling abroad shortly and if this medical disaster should happen during my trip to Shanghai and not be picked up in Henderson, it would destroy my trip. Dr. Samlasks is an excellent doctor who's a rare breed in Las Vegas Valley. read more

Samlaska dismissed my father-in-law's scalp issue as "cradle cap". We later get a 2nd opinion and it turns out to be CANCER! Samlaska barely looked at him during the appointment and didn't even provide a full diagnosis to rule out a serious issues. My father-in-law now has to see a surgeon to remove the cancerous growth on his scalp that this incompetent jerk dismissed. Do not go here if you value your life. read more

Been here twice as a patient and our daughter was also a patient of Dr. Samlaska while on Accutane. He's a great doctor and his staff is extremely friendly. Office is also very clean. I was quickly diagnosed yesterday with eczema on my left arm and given a prescription to treat it. It's already working. Highly recommend Academic Dermatology:) read more

The office is really nice and I was lucky enough for them to see me on short notice. I'd probably go there for something cosmetic. But not for anything serious. I broke out in a rash on my face. I tried treating it at home and took abreva and then a steroid cream. But it was getting worse and worse and I noticed my 6m daughter was getting it to. So we made a last minute apt. The PA said it looked like dermatitis. Gave me another steroid and when I showed her my daughter she told me what I have isn't contagious and it's probably unrelated and to take her to the ped. I double checked and asked if it was okay to kiss my baby and she said yes it's not contagious. The next day I took my daughter to the pediatrician because her skin was getting worse and the pediatrician said she has impetigo. Which is highly contagious. She can't diagnose me but she said to get another opinion. So the next day I went to a different derm who said I definitely don't have dermatitis I also have a pretty severe case of impetigo and told me to stop all steroids and gave me some antibacterial creams. The steroids was inflaming my skin It's been one day and my face is already feeling much better. Anyways I'm glad I got it solved. Kind of frustrated I had to go to so many doctors... but they're scheduling is awesome. They're office is very very nice. I'd probably go back again for something that's not so complicated. read more

Curt Samlaska, MD - 2 days after going to the office. The cream they prescribed made it more inflamed and made it bigger - Dermatologists Near Me - Henderson, Nevada

Was referred to this office by a friend, I called to make a new patient appt and was able to get in within a week! The office had a nice chill ambiance and the front desk staff was very pleasant. I came in for mole patrol and was in and out quickly! The Dr was very prompt and professional! read more

Anna is good at what she does. She first saw my wife and oldest son. My son had a black mole on his leg and she removed it without any issues. I've never had a dermatologist "review" your skin before but some of the things they point out is interesting. Better safe than sorry. read more

I went out of my way to find a dermatologist that I could be seen by, not a practitioner. I made it very clear I would wait for an appointment to see the Dr., which I did. When I got to their office, not only were there no Covid precautions taken, their waiting area was packed. (This was before LV got enough vaccine for all and we were relaxed slightly.). In walked a practitioner who was with me literally 5 minutes before rushing out. She did a FULL body scan in that 5 minutes. Having gotten regular derm scans, they sure take longer than 5 min! I asked why I wasn't seeing the Dr. and was told he was busy. read more

I am horrified to think this person is a practicing physician. On my first visit, he came in with a group of student doctors and proceeded to examine me. That took less than one minute and wasn't a complete body examination. He then indicated that he prefers to aggressively treat anything that could be cancerous. So he then took out his liquid nitrogen spray and started shooting like a submachine gun, about 40 times. That took another couple of minutes. Afterward, he said to come back in a few months for a follow-up, and then he would examine my whole body. When I returned home I noticed my skin was all red and two days later several welts formed. In my past experiences, I have never needed more than a few liquid nitrogen treatments in a single visit. Most important, they healed within one day. I do not plan ever to see the rifleman AKA Doctor again. read more

I had my first visit to check out a spot on my forehead. The doctor came in and spent 5 minutes burning several spots on both arms ( don't know why). I think he gets paid by the number of hits he gives you. He NEVER got the spot on my forehead, which was my original concern. I would not return to him and would not refer him. I will also tell my primary care doctor not to refer any patients to him!! read more

My oncologist, Dr. Rupesh Parikh, highly recommended Dr. Samlaska's practice. I felt confident I would receive the same quality care and support I have received with Dr. Parikh's office for the last nearly seven years. One of the best qualities of Dr. Parikh's office is that they call any and all orders for testing, appt's, referrals, etc. from their office. If a referral does not follow through, Parikh's office is on it. This takes an enormous burden off the patient. This was not so in Dr. Samlaska's office. Not only did they not follow up with their referral for an urgent MOHS procedure to Dr., Douglas Fife's office, getting anyone to return a call was next to impossible. For that reason alone, I would not recommend this practice. I would also like to change my initial rating of 5 to a rating of 1 or 2. It's been exasperating, especially since I made a point of telling them that was the primary reason I switched dermatologists. In the meantime, my malignant melanoma has become more inflamed and painful to the touch. read more

If I could Give no stars it would be to Samlaska, couldn't even call him a Doctor. I have had three Basil cells in the past 15 years so I have to see a Dermatologist every 3 months for check ups. I have been seeing him for the last 2 years. I went for my checkups 3 Times in a row (which is every 3 months) for two spots that I was concerned about, they would bleed and scab up, I would go for a check up , he would walk in and start freezing them & telling me they were nothing. I told him after second time I wanted a biopsy he refused and froze them again. By the third time I insisted on the biopsy, he froze them again and told me COME BACK IN TWO WEEKS FOR YOUR BIOPSY EVEN THO I KNOW IT IS NOT CANCER BUT I WILL DO IT, I BET MY LIFE IT ISN'T. Well I had my biopsy and both were Basil Cell. I walked out of his office and called a surgeon...this is what I have been going through for the last 3 weeks because of him. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO HIM. I am trying to put pictures on from both surgeries. The long scar is on my arm. read more

Wasn't happy with the level of time or attention he took with any of our family members.

I had a severe skin condition after open heart surgery at the lower spot where they removed an artery from my leg. Dr. Samlaska was spot on with the proper treatment. Prior to this issue I had him remove some skin tabs and moles. He did a great job with that also. The staff was always nice and professional. read more

I was so beyond disappointed with this dermatologist. Dr. Samlaska didn't spend more than 1 minute in the appointment to address my skin issues. He prescribed me a medication that I told him in the past didn't work for me so I left discouraged but willing to give it another go since that was all the help I received. Upon calling the pharmacy, they told me that the medication was going to be 200 dollars, when I was told in his office that it was covered by my insurance. Payed a 50 dollar co-pay and wasted 2 hours of my life for no progress. read more

Dr. Samlaska is extraordinary! Both my parents were patients well into their late eighties. I got to to know "Dr. Sam" when I would bring my parents to their appointments. I was always appreciative of his "bedside" manners with my older parents. Their needs, some unique, were always resolved and were part of their overall wellness. My Dad was a cardiac care patient on blood thinners and it always impressed me how Dr. Sam treated life threatening lesions/cancerous stuff with minimal complications. He really earned my respect and admiration for the years he took care of them, and now I've become a long time patient. Being an airline pilot, my skin risk is higher than most. And as important, my schedule is always changing. The front desk has ALWAYS been extraordinarily helpful changing dates and times, even on (sometimes) extremely short notice. They understand that my schedule is always changing month to month, and when scheduling my next appointment is more of a guess. They've always been fantastic. I know that I'm at risk from skin issues, some from the parents, some from my profession, but I couldn't have found a better doctor for these last many years than Dr. Samlaska. Ps. Before I started taking the parents to their appointments to Dr. Sam, I didn't know his first name was Curt!! Samlaska...my Dad had a ton of doctors later in his life, Dr. Sam was also a great friend to him. read more

This Doctor is the worst dermatologist I have ever seen. I went in for a brown spot on my forehead, and he sprayed liquid nitrogen on the spot. I trusted him, with this procedure. Well, I did this procedure in April, and to this date I am seeing my dermatologist in Beverly Hills, to in-do his damage. He burnt my skin and the spot was 100 times worse. All red. I am from CA and moving back in 2 months. Thank God for my dermatologist in Beverly Hills, CA, after7 months this red spot is finally going away. I have flown in to Beverly Hills, every 2 weeks to see my doc there to fix his damage. Do not see this doctor for cosmetic procedures, because he has no clue. He wouldn't even give my money back of $180, as he said he doesn't guarantee his work. What a piece of work!!!! Bad news. read more

I took my 93 year old mom to see Dr. Samlanska. She was concerned about a mark on her leg. She also had a few bumps around her head and itching on her legs. He said he would be able to freeze the bumps but the itching could be fixed by using moisturizers several times per day. This diagnosis was given without him even looking at the itchy area. He also made a condescending remark about the mark that she was so worried about by saying "what am I looking at" as though there was nothing there. Even though it was just a bruise on fragile skin, he could have used a little more tact and been sensitive to her concern. He basically dismissed her worries as though she was invisible. I give him 0 stars. Older people count in this world. He doesn't to seem to think so, read more

I waited over 40 minutes while I overheard my doctor and nurse chatting with a pharm rep. When I finally had to give up and leave.... nurse Jessica took it upon herself to verbally attack me. Beware if you want your medical files held in privacy..... this is not the doctor for you! read more

I wish Yelp would allow "zero" stars. To say Dr. Samlaska is a horrible doctor, would be an understatement. Not only does he have the worst bedside manner, but his examination is very rushed. I went to see him about a rash. He did not have the decency to put a sheet on me when he looked at my rash. I was extremely uncomfortable given where the rash was. Please do not go to this doctor. read more

I was seen by the PA and not the doctor about 5-6 months ago in this office and have waited to write my review. I made an appointment because I had a rash all over my body due to an allergy to a medication. The PA gave me a medication that made it worse and insisted on taking a skin sample of the rash. The skin sample she said she needed to take was from an area on my back I could barely see. I asked if she would please take it from my leg instead as the rash was there too and she insisted she needed it from my back and she said my back would heal better. I now have a permanent scar on my back where she took the skin sample, despite using scar creams and months of special bandages. Also, when I went in for my follow up appointment no one even bothered to tell me the results of the tests on the skin sample, thus making the whole process a waste. I called my regular doctor and they called in a prescription for me that actually helped my rash, I wish I had done that first and not wasted my time with this office. If I could give zero stars I would, but this rating system doesn't seem to allow it. Don't go to this office. read more

The doctor saw me for about 4 minutes and said all my skin moles and irritations, etc were nothing to worry about. No tests or close look. He just glanced at a couple and said they are all normal. Then he left the room. I spent most of my time there talking to the assistant. Then I found out they over-charged me $120 even though Medicare said in a letter that the most I can be charged was about $40. Beware!!!!! And one more thing . .. .. good luck trying to talk to the billing dept. This one is the worst so far. She never returned my calls and voice mails. I had to call repeatedly to no success. Dr Samlaska lacks some bedside manner but when it comes to dermatology he definitely knows his stuff.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Samlaska for years. He treated both of my kids for their skin. After trying different topical creams, we decided Accutane was the next step. Dr. Samlaska was on top of the treatment for 6 months of prescriptions and bloodwork. The end result was amazing! He also removed my husband's diabetic lumps he had gotten from shooting insulin in his body for 30 years. He is very professional and an excellent dermatologist. The office is meticulously clean. The front desk staff is wonderful and we never wait more than a few minute before being called back. The nurses are all wonderful caring women! I would highly recommend Dr. Samlaska. read more
